This guy found a new home last weekend, when I showed at the Rockingham Springs Arboretum. This is why I take pictures of every piece I finish – my memory is pretty bad, but now I’ll be able to remember it perfectly!

All penguins survived their three firings and are being subjected to the obligatory class portrait before they are allowed to graduate. I am having a lot of fun with my new camera!

It was good to get away for a while, to just chill and relax, but when we returned we were confronted once again with the specter self-employed people know all too well: The post-vacation mountain of work!

Vacations are a funny beast for self-employed individuals. You don’t just pick up where you left off when you get back – instead you have to catch up on all the stuff that should have been done while you were off napping, reading, or walking on the beach.

And still, you have to get away once in a while. It is what it is!

You can see that mosaics are on my mind :] I wanted to capture the moment of coalescence – or disintegration.

I also have this seahorse, and I’m playing around with the color. I would like it to display well with the other two above, to make a nice set of three. What color would you pick?

Things have been crazy with helping my sister get ready for her wedding (only 10 days away!), but I managed to grab some time to finish this lovely blue and white crow mosaic. Doing a little bit of art each day keeps me sane!

I’ve tried a similar mosaic with light blue grout, but I like the dark grout shown here better!

First, we had abnormally frigid weather for weeks. Then for a few days, it felt like summer, and I wondered if we’d skipped over spring entirely.

Thankfully, it was not so. Now we’re getting those beautiful sunny mid-seventies days we all love, and the flowers are finally shooting up as if to make up for lost time.

I hope it sticks around… in the meantime, I finished an 8-inch starfish mosaic in summery hues!

Another favorite animal!

Can’t wait to see him swimming in a sea of glass.

This fella just got glaze fired, but here he is when I first sculpted him.

He will be in a mosaic where the tree and the background are glass pieces. His disconnected hand goes on the other side of the tree he is hugging.
