Resume Writing Workshop for UWS Veterans and Pizza Social

Veterans get prepared for the April 17th Northland Job Fair by joining the Veteran and Nontraditional Student Center for a Resume Writing Workshop to be held in Room 118 of Old Main on April 3, 2013 from 4-5 pm.

This workshop is intended to help current and former military to translate their military experience into writing a WINNING Resume. Following the workshop a Pizza Social will be held and the Vets Club will be holding their monthly meeting at 6:30 for anyone interested in attending!

Meet the Tuskegee Airmen

The Veteran and Nontraditional Student Center and the Office of Multicultural Affairs invite you to participate at the University of Minnesota-Duluth's event "Profiles of Courage", featuring Lt. Col. (Ret) Hiram Mann and Maj (Ret) Joe Gomer,Tuskegee Airmen, and COL (Ret) Nathan Thomas, participant of the 1963 Birmingham Civil Rights March.

A FREE bus shuttle will be provided for all UW-Superior students interested in going. The bus will leave the YU at 1:45pm this Friday and the event will start at 2:30pm in UMD's Weber Musical Hall.

Sign ups are available during our tabling at the Yellowjacket Union Atrium February 12 and 14 from 11am to 1pm or at our offices:

Vets Club Meeting

The Vets Club will be holding it first meeting of the Semester on Thursday at 6 pm in the Veterans and Non-traditional Student Center, located in Old Main Rm 118. Any current member of the Vets Club or anyone wanting to join should attend this meeting. Any UW-Superior student is welcome to join the Vets Club regardless of military service.

The meeting will be followed immediately by a Game Night event hosted by the Veteran and Non-traditional Student Center. Free Pizza and Pop will be available at this event.

Ice Skating with VNSC at Wessman Arena

Snow Man Building Contest

Snow Permitting ---- Due to weather conditions, the Snowman making will take place inside where Snowman building art craft will be available. Also available will be snacks and beverages. Bring the family in for some warm Snowman building and snacks!!!

Honoring the lives of the children and staff in Connecticut

To honor the children, staff, and families affected by the shooting in Connecticut, campus is ecouraged to stop by the table set up in the Yellowjacket Union Atrium. Supplies will be available for creating a memorial or writing a message between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Dec 18-21.

The campus community is also encouraged to take Ann Curry's challenge of providing 26 random acts of kindness in memory of the victims.

Honoring veterans and military

A Veterans Day ceremony hosted by UW-Superior's Veteran and Nontraditional Student Center will be held at noon Monday, Nov. 12, in the Yellowjacket Union Shippar Atrium.

The ceremony will include a performance of the National Anthem by student Sam Gray, presentation of the colors, a message from Chancellor Renée Wachter, and other speakers. Following the ceremony, a short reception will be held for veterans and military members.

All veterans, military members, students, faculty and community members are welcome to attend. Cards willl be available for all to sign that will be given to the university's student veterans and displayed in the Veteran and Nontraditional Student Center.

The Veteran and Nontraditional Student Center could not have made this event possible without help and donations from Student Involvement, the University Relations Office, the UW-Superior Foundation, 'Jacket Book & Supply, and the Chancellor's Office.
