Do you know what an idiom is? Well if you’ve ever heard someone say, “I’m sick as a dog” then you’ve heard an idiom. Idioms are creative ways of saying everyday things. We can’t interpret idioms literally. We have to memorize the meanings of idioms in order to understand them.

Since there are several common idioms used, it can be helpful to play games associated with learning idioms. This can boost our memorization of them. Vocabulary.co.il has many idiom games to help with memorizing idioms.

Check out the Idiom Slang Game to learn some idioms. Then, when you’ve mastered that game, move onto one of the other great idiom games on Vocabulary.co.il.

Summer is right around the corner and it’s notorious for going to the beach, riding bikes, and having picnics. What you may not know is that summer is also a great time to get a head start for next year. A summer study program may be the best way to keep your brain sharp while you are enjoying the summer sun. There are so many summer programs available and one of them is sure to fit your needs.

For instance, there are summer writing programs, to help with learning grammar, creative writing, and even essay writing for those pesky standardized tests.

If you need some vocabulary or spelling practice, try a vocabulary summer study program. This type of program can reinforce the vocabulary from the previous year and introduce new vocabulary words to prepare for the next level.

Science is a fascinating subject and most of us enjoy doing science experiments during the school year. How about engaging in some science summer learning? By keeping up with science knowledge during the summer, your understanding of advanced science principles can be ready for next year.

Finally, there are summer bridge programs that help to reinforce learned concepts and introduce new concepts in each subject. Summer school programs often provide much needed support to those who could use a little refresher. They also help those advanced students who enjoy pushing their knowledge to the next level.

No matter what your needs, you’ll be able to find a summer study program that fits you. Keep in mind a quote from Plato, “Knowledge is the food of the soul.” So feed your soul this summer and you’ll be full and satisfied in the fall.

Some games are educational, some games are fun, and then there are games that are fun and educational. Hangman is one of those games. It helps to reinforce spelling and vocabulary words. Many people young and old struggle with spelling correctly. Using hangman games can often help them to improve their spelling much faster than just studying alone.

Vocabulary.co.il has a wonderful hangman game called HangMouse. This game is a little different than the traditional hangman games because it has a mouse that is trying to get cheese from a sleeping cat. For each incorrect letter guess, it startles the cat. Too many incorrect guesses and the cat will wake and catch the mouse before the mouse can grab the cheese.

Try playing HangMouse and you’ll find that you’re having a great time and learning something too!

Homophones are words or phrases that sound the same, but have different meanings. One example is the words peace and piece. These words sound the same, but they have very different meanings. Homophones often get mixed up when we are writing a story, letter, or email. The best way to protect yourself from homophone hiccups is to practice recognizing homophones and using them correctly.

Some online homophone games are very helpful. These games can reinforce the meanings of those pesky homophones. Try the Elementary Homophone Game on Vocabulary.co.il; this game requires you to use homophones in a sentence.

Once you start utilizing homophones lessons, you will see a drastic improvement in how you use them. In the end, learning homophones may seem difficult, but you’ll get the hang of it in no time when you practice often.

Are you trying to master typing skills? So many people have said that typing is taking over the written word. If you find yourself typing more and more and writing less and less, it may be time for you to learn how to type properly.

When you know how to type correctly, you can improve your typing speed. There are several ways to increase your typing speed. One way is to take an online typing course. Another way is to play typing games online.

One fun typing game is Typing Monster.
A great online phonics game is Word Paths. The game focuses around creating words with a vowel. When playing the game, you need to create words that all have a short vowel sound. For example, if you choose the letter “A”, you’ll need to make words like lamp, pat, fast, and map.

Using phonics games can often improve reading ability. Not to mention games are more fun than homework. No matter what kind of phonics help you find, you are sure to enjoy watching that special someone learn how to read before your eyes.
