A few weeks ago I took a very long-awaited holiday...

The plan was hatched by my good pals who know where to go a few
months back, and ever since we've been counting the days. It got us
through fashion month, we all said. That lingering bright light at
the end of a blurry fashion tunnel!

Paris Fashion Week ended for me with a quick dash off after the
Loewe show to the Eurostar and back home to pack, I needed a few
days to find said holiday clothing - it's been that long. Blimey,
trying on the bikini in pasty white skin, not so attractive, so I
tried with sunglasses on to ease the glare - really, this is
true!

Finally the day arrived, off to the airport with a quick stop
off in NYC for a meeting, I was then on my way to Mexico. Not to
the side that has become popular with my other fashion chums but to
the Pacific side. I had a short stop in Atlanta then onto Puerto
Vallarta with an entire plane of Spring Break 21 year olds, looking
hot and full of the joys of life. A three-and-a-half-hour drive
later along the Pacific coast, I arrived in Mexican paradise.
Cuixmala is where we stayed for the next 10 days. We saw
crocodiles, zebras, baby turtles and an osolot. Pretty good going
for a nature lover. Cuixmala is one of those fairytale places that
you dream of as a young adult, one day I will take a holiday like
that, you say. And then, as if by magic, you are there.

We watched sunsets from rooftops over the Pacific, had dinner on
a moon-lit beach in front of a, what I can only refer to as, Wicker
Man-type fire. Shoes were very important for dinner to make sure
you weren't nipped by the scorpions. We took a sail boat out on the
Pacific and saw manta rays, and giant turtles. I wasn't that good
on the boat, a little queasy for the first half, and too chicken to
get in the sea, probably didn't help that the captain declined the
offer of a quick splash around.

All wildlife seemed to have a larger-than-life appearance. One
day, what I thought was some sort of exotic giant beetle came to
see us at the pool, we all really liked him and let him walk over
our hands, only to find out in fact he was a giant cockroach, wont
be doing that at home.

Forgetting about work whilst away on holiday is not easy, but we
actually did pretty well by all accounts, apart from one day when
we decided to do a few shoots, we had some product of course, and
we had the very snazzy amazingly stylish Katie Grand, super
photographer Liz Collins and agent provocateur Camilla Lowther. I
was the prop assistant. As you can see the bunnies had some
fun!

When it was time to leave, us girls were very sad. We've made a
vow to return all together as many times as possible. I can't wait
for October to come around! Thanks to Alix and Goffredo for making
us so relaxed and remembering how good life can be after a few days
off in paradise.

X

We love a doodle here at Hillier HQ, and we love working with
our friends too. This Easter season we have teamed up with the
wonderful Miss Quentin Jones to create this amazing illustration -
a cheeky bunny for Easter.

Every year on March 8, the world celebrates International
Women's Day (IWD).

IWD provides a common day for globally recognising and
applauding women's achievements as well as for observing and
highlighting gender inequalities and issues.

But not just on IWD, all year round, many organisations and
individuals work tirelessly to support gender equality through a
multitude of initiatives.

Oxfam have done a brilliant job of raising awareness and really
encourage women to get together on this day to celebrate and raise
money to enable women around the world to build a better future for
themselves and their families.

My friend Roxy Walton did exactly that! And to mark this very
important day she organised a fund-raising event. Rallying together
lots of women under one roof for a brilliantly fun evening to
celebrate everything that is great about women.

We all gathered in her beautifully dressed home, decorated with
Spring flowers, fairy lights and her fantastic shimmering IWD
banner. There was a feast of international delights including some
wonderful British classics, the cucumber sandwiches went down very
well, each of them lovingly decorated with cocktail stick flags
from across the globe. Fun!

The main event of the evening was Roxy's IWD charity raffle. We
all donated (our hard earned) cash in exchange for a strip of pink
raffle tickets. Everyone was giddy with excitement by this stage as
many of the prizes were donated by our good friends at Marc by Marc
Jacobs, and of course there were some wonderful Hillier Bunny
goodies in there too!

There were sqeals of excitement and applause as girls won
prizes, it was verging on hysteria!

The evening was rounded off perfectly with a girly disco in the
basement tiki bar (leopard-print bar included, obvs). The speakers
were cranked up while Mariah and Whitney bellowed out - what a
perfect end to a really wonderful celebration.

Fun was had and funds were raised. A brilliant job done by
all.

Go girls!!

xxx

It's cold outside but nothing warms a girl's heart more than new
shoes - am I right? You can imagine the squeals of delight when
this arrived courtesy of the wonderful Miss Olympia. Without delay,
they were unwrapped and all the girls swooned as we admired such
pretty feet!! I am going to find somewhere to wear these this
weekend, even if it's raining. I won't be defeated by the weather!
Chin up boys and girls, there's always shoes to keep us going!

And so to the judging of the BUNNY DOODLE COMPETITION! Last
Friday afternoon we all stopped work in the studio to judge the
competition. It was not an easy task, so many amazing heartfelt and
creative doodles. Hillier HQ all joined in and we narrowed down the
many entries to our team favourites, although we have to say we
loved them all, but it was a competition and we have to follow the
rules. After almost 2 hours of deliberating, we found our winner
and 2 runners up!

often.

January is a strange month, the excitement of the coming
season's Fashion Weeks should be making us feel jolly and alive,
instead the gloomy weather and dark nights are keeping us in a
state or constant tiredness here at Hillier HQ. In an effort to
bring some fun and light, I thought I would share an oldy but goody
picture of young Hillier with her favourite ducky necklace. This
was the inspiration for our new Hillier paperclip friend, Ducky.
Oh, and the print on my very snazzy sun lounger might inspire some
for a jolly print this spring!

Don't let the weather bring you down, think of all the nice
things that spring will bring! It's just around the corner xxx

Last week it was Men's Fashion Week in Paris, and it was humming
with male-ness! Luckily for us, we happened to be tagging
along.

We were also in Paris selling our Hillier jewellery and trinkets
to adorn your hair. We popped along to our lovely showroom, Touba,
to see the gang and found some marvellous stuff which we will
report back on shortly. But, in the meantime, this was one of mine
and Miss Hannah Martin's favourites! Moo eyewear - they are just so
very special, dreamy and fantastical, I've already placed and
order!

Keep watching for more cool, fun stuff we found in Paris!

Happy New Year gang!

After a lovely Christmas break the thought of going back to work
sometimes fills one with dread! I, on the other hand, had such a
wonderful break - lots of tv, chocolate and slee - that when
tuesday morning came around I was super-excited to get back to the
office, see the girls and catch up with what's going on! It's going
to be a very exciting year here at Hillier and the shows are just
around the corner so we haven't got much time to thin about the
dreary weather outside. We've been listening to Club
Tropicana to shake away the gloom. Something that really
brightened up our day was a visit from the one and only Mr Will
Broome, the man of the doodle! Apart from Will's ravishing good
looks and utter charm, he's also a very snappy dresser, he had the
most amazing bobble hat I have ever seen. As you know we love a bit
of knit at Hillier but this is up there in our top 5! The creator
of this hat was the lovely Carolyn Pearce. Long live the bobble
hat!

Christmas is coming and what better way to start the festive
season than a lovely Loewe lunch hosted by Katie Grand and Stuart
Vevers at Harry's Bar?! Harry's Bar is just the most perfect lunch
spot. We were treated to lunch in a private room, all snug and very
festive. The table was decorated with Amazona cookies, which I took
a fancy too and snuck out with probably more than my share but the
girls back at Hillier HQ really love cookies and obviously ones in
the shape of the Amazona were too good to leave behind! We had a
delicious lunch, had a good gossip with the girls about popstars
and polka dots. After lunch, Stuart walked us over to the Mount St
Loewe store where we stocked up on Christmas pressies, we were like
kids in a sweet shop, at one point we all had a new bag on our arm!
What a perfect way to end the week! Thanks to Katie Grand and
Stuart, and everyone at Loewe for a lovely time!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, well in Tokyo at
least! This is our first ever Hillier London window and it came to
life courtesy of our WONDERFUL, AMAZING, friends at Biotop, Tokyo.
They have been so supportive with us and offered us a wonderful
opportunity to have a whole window just for Hillier. The concept
was to create a tree made from items that we sourced in London from
our studio, archive and vintage finds, the colour was pink, of
course. We have just delivered our Rose Gold pretty in pink
collection so we wanted to do something that reflected the theme of
the most current collection, a bit like a teenage Molly Rigwold's
bedroom. We set to work on getting all the bits together and
created the window in our studio in London. It was like curating an
exhibition. Every item was documented and a scale one print out of
the placement was sent to japan for the team there to re-create!
They did a super job, all the bunnies were carved from wood in a
local factory and the wood that the tree was mounted on was
reclaimed. We also created a set of special edition headbands, hand
crafted bunnies, snails and an owl, placed on very pretty grosgrain
ribbon only available at Biotop!

We want to say a very special thank you to BIOTOP and the whole
team!! Please go visit the store and say Hi to the Hillier
tree!
xx

A few weekends ago I was in New York. I often try and get out of
the city for a night or two and stay with my good friend Sloane in
Chappaqua (Westchester County). She has an amazing house, two
wonderful kids - Sam and Tate - two dogs - Shortie and Olive - and
of course her lovely husband Mr Robbie G!

This weekend started off the same as usual, we headed back on
the train on Friday night, settled into the sofa with our feet up.
Saturday morning, Sloane tells me a snow storm is coming, after
Hurricane Irene came and went without that much happening, I kind
of thought the weather reporters may have been making a big deal
out of nothing. Nope they werent, snow started to fall at 10am, 12
inches and 14 hours later it stopped! Pretty cool but also quite
odd as it really wasn't expected!

Patrick and I

It's the biggest night in the London fashion calendar and I was
extremely privileged to have been nominated for the accessory
designer of the year along with the lovely Charlotte Olympia and
Mulberry! This was a very special night, to be recognised for all
the work you and your teams have done is a wonderful thing, I'm
very proud.

Pom pom ponytail

I thought I would make a really special effort! I never have my
hair done or wear make-up and I thought I would just give it a go.
It was such good fun and I would like to do this every time I went
out. Glam squad on hand were, Jose Quijano on hair, Dorita Nissen
on make-up and Chisato Yamamoto on nails. Henry (Holland) and
Patrick (Grant) came to pick me up from St Johns Hotel where we
were staying for the night, a really nice treat!

The glam squad, exhausted!

The amazing Savoy drinks reception

Arriving at the awards was very nervy - I was whisked into a
room of photographers, flashing lightbulbs everywhere! I made
Patrick come with me, too shy to do it on my own! Then it was
straight up to a very fancy room with a birdcage in it and a piano
playing the anthem of the season from Lana Del Ray. We had time for
a cocktail and a catch up with Daniel Marks and Henry Holland, both
wearing Louboutin spiky slippers and a sporty similar hair style.
Then it was time for the awards! It was a wonderful ceremony, I sat
behind Stella McCartney who I haven't seen for ages so we had a
little gossip, and right next to her was the gorgeous Miss Kate
Hudson, who is not only so beautiful but a right good laugh too.
She did the most amazing presentation of an award that I have every
heard. Genius. It was all about her hair when she wore Stella to
the Oscars in 2001, and she told us before she presented the award
to Stella! There were nerves - Tabitha Simmons was on the edge of
her seat, I was sitting right next to her, I had a feeling that she
would win, I had everything crossed for her! She did, I screamed
perhaps a little too loudly, and of course there were tears. I
started balling when Victoria Beckham accepted her award from Marc
Jacobs - I couldn't help it - two people who I absolutely adore on
stage together. Some really fantastic awards were given to some
really deserving winners but none more in my eyes than Victoria.
She has worked so incredibly hard to get to where she is today and
it was so great to be able to see her win an award that she so
deserved!

Phwoar, it's Gandy and Grant!

Lucy Yeomans and Stephen Jones

The very glamourous Kate Hudson in her specs, telling us the
story about her hair

Sadly, I was not a winner this year, but it's the not the
winning that matters, it's the taking part and the nomination was
such an honour. Thank you BFC for a super-glossy, smashin'
evening!

The absolutely amazing Tabitha Simmons and her award

Here come the boys! Check out Henry's new hair!

The most perfect fried eggs in the world

We love polar bears at Hillier, a vulnerable species that we
very much want to be around forever, so much so that we have
crafted an 18 carat gold version complete with a twinkling
diamond eye. The bear is available exclusively from <a

Graham and Green know the importance of having a safe and secure
surrounding to live in, with the number of young homeless people
reaching unbelievable levels of 80,000 a year it was lovely to hear
that they were working with Centre Point to raise money and support
for the young adults who find themselves on the street.

They selected a white stag head from their collection and asked
artists and designers such as the lovely Charlotte Olympia, Barbara
Hulanicki and Rob Ryan to customise it and we were lucky enough to
be chosen too. A large box, sizeable enough to fit a person,
arrived in the office and out came this beautiful white sculpture -
our blank canvas had arrived!

As you probably will have noticed from my blog entries and
photographs I LOVE stripes, in fact I'd go so far to say I'm a bit
obsessed. I have lots of pictures of me as a small child dressed in
stripy tops so my fascination started at a young age. When I first
laid eyes on the sculpture I just knew it had to be stripey. Being
a bit of a stripe expert, I particularly love the iconic Breton
stripe that was worn by Picasso, Dali and Audrey Hepburn.

There is a certain colour associated with the Breton stripe and
it's a deep, rich naval style blue, perfect for our stag. Getting
the stripes to look straight on such a 3 dimensional object didn't
come without its challenges but with the help of our talented
intern Flo we got there in the end and I'm rather pleased with the
outcome. Our stag, which we've decided to name Steve, will be
reunited with its brothers and sisters at an auction on November
16, we hope you'll support the cause and place a bid or two for our
stags head…which comes with a special Hillier wink!

BBC Children in Need has been around for almost a century and I
have the fondest memories of staying up late and watching it as a
child. Still being a big kid at heart I was overly excited to have
been asked to customize an iconic Pudsey Bear, and immediately
fuzzy felt and needlework classes came to mind.

As an adult I still read fairytales and watch kids movies and my
favourite creator is Tim Burton - I'm totally obsessed with his
characters, especially from A Nightmare Before Christmas.
I wanted Pudsey to feel like he had been patched together by a
child's imagination, full of innocence, fun and fairytale
dreams.

Pudsey came together from a mixture of denim sourced from local
charity shops, which Grace, our wonderful, intern washed with
stones to give it a more vintage feel, and Liberty prints from a
personal collection of fabrics I have. We work very closely with a
talented sample maker called Anthony Vrahimis and he kindly
constructed Pudsey's body for us. Grace then took over and cut
patches from the fabric and sewed them together by hand with neon
cottons using a traditional blanket stitch.

This was an incredibly fun project and it was an honour to be
involved with, please support the future of our children by
watching Children in Need on November 18, and more importantly by
donating generously.

Katie's Pudsey will be exhibited in Liberty, London,
from November 7-19. You can bid to buy the one-off Pudsey's created
by Katie Hillier, Erdem, Jonathan Saunders, Henry Holland,

In New York at the weekend, whilst we were snowbound, I had
planned on making Halloween bunny masks with the girls - Tate,
Hannah and Aiden. My inspiration for the days events was Truman
Capote's infamous Black & White Ball. It has to have been the
coolest party ever!

Luckily, we managed to get supplies before we were unable to
leave the house. I had so much fun, little girls are the best and
these three are the biggest bunny fans in the whole world!

For the masks we used:
Black and white foam card for the mask
Sparkly felt for the noses
Pipe cleaners for the whiskers
Black and white polka dot grosgrain ribbons to tie them on
with

I have wanted a kimono for years, but I have never had the
courage to go into the traditional department of the stores in
Japan and have one fitted. But this time I did! The whole process
took about 2 and half hours, but it was an amazing experience. So
different to buying a new dress at the beginning of the season! As
you know, I love an accessory and this is the most accessorised
outfit I have ever worn. The options are endless - trinkets from
your hair to your feet, bag and obi!

The Kimono is a Japanese traditional garment worn by women men
and children, the word Kimono means literally, "thing to wear".
Kimono's are T-shaped and wrapped around the body, always with the
left side over the right, except when dressing the dead for burial.
The kimono is secured by a sash called an obi - I chose a stripy
yellow one - I chose the obi first and had to coordinate the entire
outfit around it! Over your obi you can adorn it with a beautiful
ribbon called an obijime, mine is red, and then you can add a
little bead or charm to the obijime which is called an obidome,
mine is a rabbit of course. You can also decorate your obi with
tassels, these are attached to solid silver shapes that are a bit
like a comb, this slides into your obi and the tassel hangs over
the side - mine has a rabbit on it. I met the lady who actually
made it, she was very happy that I was from London as she had
trained at Goldsmiths!

The lovely lady at Isetan who spent 2 and a half hours with me
was very good at putting me together in my outfit and she was very
concerned that I wouldn't be able to do as good a job when I
returned to the UK. She gave me 5 sheets of instructions in English
to explain. I'm slightly concerned that I might need some help on
my first go, but I'm very excited about my first outing in all my
new bits!

Since Christmas my mum, Mrs Jackie Hillier, has discovered her
long lost passion for knitting - and stripes!

We're actually doing a roaring trade in Hottie Bottie covers at
our wonderful local village store, Sweet Peas of Great Tew. The
first batch sold out in 3 days! Mum's also branched out into teapot
cosies and egg cup covers!

When I got home today there was a little surprise for me.
Inspired by the Marc by Marc spring/summer 2012 show, Mummy Dearest
whipped up this beauty and delivered it to my house whilst I was
out - you can see where my creativeness comes from!

Animals in general feature very highly on my radar as you can
see from my blogs, and the fact that I based my brand Hillier
around beloved bunnies. My heart sinks at the thought of
animal cruelty and endangered species becoming extinct, so I feel
lucky to have been asked to contribute towards an utterly fantastic
project created by Elephant Family. They are the charity behind
those incredibly beautiful elephants that charged onto the streets
of London and posed gracefully throughout May and June of last
year. The colourful display attracted an audience of 25 million,
creating huge awareness of the depleting numbers of Asian elephants
and raised an astonishing £4.1 million for the conservation of the
elephant population.

This year the herd travels to Edinburgh and we were tasked with
decorating a giant blanket to cover the elephant sculptures when
they were on display. With the fantastic help of our intern Grace
Cooper, we set about Hillierising the blanket we selected from
Ardalanish - a traditional weavers based on the Isle of Mull in
Scotland, who Patrick (Norton & Sons and E.Tautz), introduced
me to. The result; a crafty menagerie of appliquéd animals;
kissing elephants with long luscious pink lashes, tortoises with
brightly patch worked shells and of course our signature bunnies
with winking eyes. If you share our passion for the preservation of
these enormous and intriguing creatures please show your support by
donating to the fund. Thank you, with a wink.

The Harvest loaf - The Wheatsheaf

When I was a child, I remember every year raiding the cupboards
for tins of food and my mum buying extra vegetables at the
supermarket, all in aid of Harvest Festival. Being a city girl, it
was more about giving something to people who were more in need
than ourselves, rather than a celebration and thanks for a bumper
crop. On Harvest Day at school, we would bring our offerings to the
school hall where the teachers would busily build a mountain of
baked bean tins and carrots. I actually remember a baked bean robot
one year being built!

Kneading the dough

A greasy try is in order - plenty of butter required!

As you know I am now very fond of our wonderful countryside and
harvest in the countryside is a lot different to harvest in the
city. This Sunday I decided to refresh my memory about harvest and
join in with the local village Sunday school at our wonderful
Church in Great Tew.

Preparing
the Wheatsheaf

Little hands are particularly good at rolling the wheat
ears

Almost there...

Harvest is from the Anglo-Saxon word HAVERFEST, meaning autumn.
It referred to the season for reaping and gathering grain and other
arable products. Every harvest, my good friend Rachel Mitchinson
bakes a wonderful Harvest loaf in celebration and thanks to a good
year of crop. I joined in and it was so much fun. Living in the
city and being in a marvellous fashion bubble sometimes doesn't let
you remember some of the more simple but important things in life
that are traditions in our country and very important! We must not
forget them. Join in the celebration and bake some bread, give
something you don't need to someone who needs it more than you, or
even just google harvest and read about it so you know what it
means and why it's important to us living in Britain!

All done and ready for the Aga!

Gorgeous Rachel with her wonderful Wheatseaf!

Happy Harvest chaps xx

A few weeks ago when I was in the wonderful world of great Tew
at a friend's party, me and my good friend Miss Delphi Tuppence
Parkinson discussed in great detail our love for rabbits. Delphi
has two rabbits of her own, Mr Bean and Bella, gorgeous rabbits
with beautiful coats because Delphi looks after them very well!

Delphi is the ripe old age of 10, and she's super smart and very
creative. After our discussion about our favourite furry friends I
assigned Delphi a project - please can you draw 10 rabbits for me.
With that said she didn't waste time and completed her task a few
days later. I think you will agree it's a work of art, and I just
wanted to share this with you all! My favourite is stripes,
obviously!

been in New York the week before, and returning back home before
the Marc by Marc show and seeing all my favourite fashion editors
and bloggers made me feel like New York had happened already and I
had missed it! This wasn't the case. I left a cloudy rainy London
in search of the summertime that is normally still happening across
the pond in New York. Shock, horror it was not to be - rain and

I didn't waste any time - I flew in from New York and headed
straight to Henry's show! There's a cosy feeling I get when I
arrive at Henry's, we are all really good friends, and all of
Henry's family and oldest friends are always there without fail!
Everything went strictly according to plan, apart from a very
mysterious missing jacket, that was rectified by the show before
running late and one of Henry's wonderful assistant navigating

I've just got back from Japan and finally I got to see the giant
pandas at UENO Zoo. Last time I was in Japan they weren't there and
I was very disappointed.

On the flight on the way over, I watched a really great
documentary narrated by my favourite David Attenborough that was
shown originally shown on BBC2 last year. The giant panda as we
know has been on the brink of extinction, but they are coming back
- thanks to an extraordinary conservation project. The Chengdu
research base, in central China, is at the heart of the project to
breed 300 pandas and then start introducing them back into the
wild. Shot over two years, the film follows the pandas and the
keepers as they edge closer to the magic number of three
hundred.

For now, I enjoyed a rare glimpse of an animal that I have been
so fond of ever since I was a little girl. It was kind of magical
watching this giant panda bear, eating her bamboo, and watching her
cartoon like mouse ears wiggle around. I wanted to jump over the
top of the glass a nestle into her like I did to my panda bear when
I was small. Instead we watched quietly took some snaps and passed
by. If you would like to know more information about the panda
programme in China this site is brilliant: <a

Long live the giant panda xx
