New song on BBC Songs of Praise

Moya will perform one of the new songs from Affinity on BBC1′s Songs of Praise next Sunday May 26 at 4pm BST.
When The Morning Breaks is performed live from Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. You can hear it here on the music player.

New Album Affinity

Moya and Cormac’s new album, Affinity, will be released in June.
Recorded during December 12/January 13 the album takes the adventure of Voices & Harps a big step further.
With brand new compositions and their own take on some traditional classics the album showcases the immaculate talents of two masters at the height of the trade.

Affinity leads with the classic Christopher Cross song, ‘Sailing’ and throughout blends Moya’s timeless vocals with the virtuosity of Cormac’s Irish harp.

Workshop – Limited availibility

There has been unprecedented demand for this year’s Voices & Harps workshop! While we are very pleased at its growing popularity (and especially those who want to return from previous years) it does mean that that there are only a few places left to book for this year. Moya and Cormac are very keen to give all participants as much personal attention as possible so they have set a limit which is nearing completion.
The workshop takes place on the weekend of June 21-23 in the beautiful surroundings of Gweedore, County Donegal.

Dutch Tour April 2013

New Voices & Harps album

Moya and Cormac have recently finished recording their new Voices & Harps album.
Titled ‘Affinity’ it will be launched both at their Steeple Sessions concert in Dublin on June 18 and the following weekend in Donegal during their summer workshop on June 22.

The 2013 Voices & Harps workshop will take place on the weekend of June 21-23.
There have already been a number of bookings but places are still available. Places are limited so don’t hesitate to reserve your place.
Now in its third year, the workshop aims to encourage singers, harpists and those that do both! Experience and expertise are less important than enthusiasm. The workshop is informal and over the weekend participants will learn a selection of songs and tunes which they can perform on the final showcase evening.
Musical entertainment is included in the registration – Moya and Cormac will perform on the Saturday evening and this year, launch their new album.

Weaving a Celtic Past – New York March 7

Moya and Cormac will collaborate with Irish historian, Edel Bhreatnach, in a special cultural presentation at the American Irish Historical Society at 6.30pm on March 7th. This event comes with the kind support of Culture Ireland.

The Society welcomes Edel Bhreathnach and musicians Moya Brennan and Cormac de Barra to its headquarters for their presentation “Weaving a Celtic Past.” Through song, history, music and images of books and manuscripts protected by Irish Franciscans, Brennan, de Barra and Bhreathnach weave a vivid portrait of Celtic history. Edel Bhreathnach is a historian of medieval Irish history and literature, and is deputy director of the Mícheál Ó Cléirigh Institute for the Study of Irish History and Civilisation at University College Dublin. Moya Brennan is the lead singer for Grammy award winning Irish band Clannad and Cormac de Barra is a traditional harpist. The program is a narrative lecture, interspersed with songs and music performed by Brennan and de Barra. Bhreathnach says the presentation is “the story of preserving and reviving the memory of Irish identity.”
