Voters in Reno and Saline County are going to be given a chance to prevent city ordinances from going into place in Hutchinson and Salina that will give protections based on sexual preference or “gender identity.” One of the fallacies of both these ordinances is that any man, just by saying he “identifies” as a woman, could access women’s public restrooms and dressing rooms and there’s nothing to stop a pedophile or other sexual predator from using this “protection” to their advantage.

In Hutchinson: Voters will want to vote “NO” on the ordinance to create special protections.

In Salina: At this point, the exact wording of the question is not available, but it is our understanding that Salina voters will want to vote “YES” to the ballot question to prevent the Salina city ordinance from remaining. It was approved and put in place by the city council. Kansas Family Policy Council spearheaded a petition drive to get the question on the ballot asking voters if they would like to repeal the ordinance.

KFL PAC will have our recommendations for these votes on the county voter’s guides.

For more information on these issues, and others affecting Kansas families, please visit the Kansas Family Policy Council website at http://www.kansasfpc.com/index.php/kfpc-update

Kansas pro-lifers can rejoice in Tuesday’s primary results because pro-life candidates, including incumbents, were victorious.

Kansans for Life’s endorsed candidates won handily: In the House, 74% (31 of 42 races) and in the Senate, 77% (24 of 31 races).

These elections were characterized as a referendum on pro-life Gov. Sam Brownback’s conservative agenda, with the media repeatedly identifying economic conservative groups as major players. But the GOP rout depended on the candidates’ pro-life credentials and is a reflection of Kansas pro-life persistence, hard work and prayer.

KFL executive director Mary Kay Culp explained: “This continued pattern of electing pro-life legislators is inspired by more than a decade of frustration with the failure to prosecute fraudulent late-term abortions, the Senate resistance to toughening abortion laws, the shameless shredding of evidence of criminal abortion by the Sebelius administration, and the failure of the Senate to [...] click here to read more
