Graduating seniors of participating high schools are eligible to apply for CCAP. Applicants must have attended the high school in, and have been a resident of, the participating locality in which they are applying for at least two years prior to graduation.

Open enrollment is currently underway and ends by the close of the business day at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 24th.

Are you ready for the new plan year that begins July 1, 2013? The following are summary highlights of the most significant changes:

Change #1: Anthem will administer not only COVA Care, but now will also administer pharmacy and behavioral health benefits. (Medco and ValueOptions will no longer be vendors.)

Action:

New cards will be mailed to participants. Shred your old card on July 1st and be sure to present your new health care card to all providers (doctors, pharmacies, etc.).

If you have a prescription mail-order, contact Anthem on July 1st to provide payment information. Your prescription will transfer unless it is a Class II controlled substance. Prior authorizations will be honored for 90 days.

Check with your pharmacy and behavioral health providers to ensure that they are in network.

Change #2: The basic dental plan will only provide coverage for preventative and some diagnostics services. Primary care coverage has been moved under the expanded dental plan.

Action: If you need to have coverage for yourself and/or family that includes primary care services such as fillings, periodontal work, root canals, simple extractions, and minor oral surgery, etc., you must sign up for expanded dental during open enrollment.

Change #3: Premium Rewards are being offered to employees and/or their covered spouses that complete an online health assessment during open enrollment. Continuation of the Premium Reward occurs in the fall between August 1 and October 31st by the completion of a biometric screening. There will be a $34/month reduction in premiums if both the employee and covered spouse complete the assessment. Otherwise, there will be a $17/month Premium Reward if the employee or covered spouse completes the requirement.

Action: Visit www.myactivehealth.com/COVA and complete your online health assessment. Currently covered spouses visit the same website and will use the employee’s 9 digit COVA ID and employee’s name as it appears on the current health care card. Spouses and employees not yet enrolled will need to contact Active Health at 866-938-0349 to complete the assessment.

Change #4: Beginning July 1st, the Flexible Reimbursement Accounts (FRA) will be administered by Anthem. The maximum medical FRA is limited to $2,500. Dependent FRA maximum remains unchanged. (WageWorks® is no longer the FRA provider.)

Action: If you want to initially enroll or continue a FRA you must sign up during open enrollment. Be sure to work with WageWorks® for reimbursements in the July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013 plan year. You have until June 30, 2013 to spend monies set aside in this plan year and from July 1, 2013 until September 30, 2013 to file for reimbursement.

Change #5: A new health plan will now be offered called COVA HealthAware administered by Aetna. COVA HealthAware is a health reimbursement arrangement (HRA) that provides pre-funding for both you and/or a covered spouse to help offset the deductible you must meet before the plan begins to pay. You and/or a covered spouse may also participate in the Premium Rewards and earn additional pre-arranged funding by completing “Do Rights”.

Action: If you would like more information on this plan, visit www.covahealthaware.com. If you would like to enroll in this new plan you must do so during open enrollment.

If you have any questions, please contact Denise Schuh at 857-7962 or dschuh@virginiawestern.edu.

As the Media Geeks have upgraded classrooms with the new touch screens, we've started noticing a serous problem: Projectors are being left on! Please remember that leaving a projector running when it is not needed is costing us a significant amount of money in replacement bulbs ($300 each) and electricity.

We are asking for your help. When you turn off the computer, please ALSO touch the "Shutdown" button on the touch panel, and confirm that you want to shutdown by touching the word "Yes" when prompted. This will turn off the projector. Simply turning off the computer results in a "black" screen, but this is not the same as the projector being off.

The Media Geeks are asking that you visually confirm that you have turned off the projector by looking at the projector and confirming that the only colored light on the projector is amber. If you see a green light next to the word "Lamp" on the projector, it is likely that the projector lamp is still on.

Thank you all for your help!

Open enrollment is currently underway and ends by the close of the business day at 5 p.m. on May 24th.

To learn more about these and other changes to your benefit plans, participate in one of the following Open Enrollment Benefits Informational Sessions:
