<p>Whilst there is a welter of publicity concerning our diets and we are all quite relaxed when it comes to wearing glasses, our hearing is all-too-frequently ignored. Interestingly, a relationship between the quality of a person�s diet and their susceptibility to hearing loss has been demonstrated, but diet is only a marginal part of the problem.</p>

The temptation to ramp up the volume in our earphones is a particular hazard, as research has shown that persistent exposure to even relatively modest sound levels can, over time, impact negatively on the super-sensitive tiny filaments of our inner ear.</p>

<p>Successive governments have recognised the importance of restricting noise exposure. There are now stringent standards that apply in the workplace in terms of health and safety in order to protect the hearing of workers who may be exposed to high noise levels over an extended period.</p>

<p>But while the authorities are taking the nation�s hearing health seriously, so far it seems the rest of us are being a bit slow to catch up. Gwyneth Paltrow may have been seen as a slightly over protective mum when she put ear defenders on her kids at a Coldplay concert way back in 2005, but she was only being careful. If rock star families are making a song and dance about ear protection, maybe the message will get through eventually.</p>]]>

<p>A study presented at the annual meeting of the Radiologic Society of North America showed that eating baked or broiled fish every week could improve brain health thus lowering the chance of acquiring Alzheimer�s disease and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Take note that�s broiled or baked, not fried fish!</p>]]>
        <![CDATA[<p>Dr. Cyrus Raji from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine who conducted the study said that this is the first to establish a <em>�direct relationship between fish consumption and brain structure and Alzheimer�s disease.�</em></p>

<p>Dr. Raji and his team were able to establish this link by conducting an experiment ranging up to 10 years. They conducted an MRI on the volunteers at the start of the study and then many years after. The scans show that those who ate fish at least once a week showed better preservation of the brain�s grey matter, specifically the hippocampus and frontal cortex regions. As some of you know, these are the ones responsible for a person�s memory. </p>

<p>Although more tests still need to be done to truly establish this link, eating fish at least once a week for the sake of our brain doesn�t sound so bad. And the end results will definitely be worth it!</p>]]>

You see, after the alarm first goes off, you again drift off to sleep and might be in deeper sleep when the alarm sounds off again. So, instead of feeling rested, you just feel more tired and lethargic, a condition known as sleep inertia.</p>]]>

However, studies show that we are depriving ourselves of vitamins and other nutritional values by doing so.</p>]]>
        <![CDATA[<p>There are some fruits that when eaten with their skins provide more nutrients and health benefits than when with their cores alone. We will present these fruits in a detailed manner and in order to do so, we will cut this post into several segments.  Make sure you check back to see all the fruits that will benefit you more if eaten with their skin. </p>

<p>1. Kiwi Fruit: Some of you might recoil at the idea of chewing its hairy or fuzzy skin. However, take note that its skin contains three times the anti-oxidants of the pulp itself. Aside from being an anti-oxidant, the kiwi skin also contains anti-inflammatory, anti-allergenic, and anti-cancer properties. Eating Kiwi fruit skin helps you become more resistant against Staphylococcus and E-coli.</p>

<p>Before eating the Kiwi Fruit skin make sure that you wash it thoroughly because there may be some dirt and pesticides residing in the fuzz in the skin. If you can�t abide eating it with the full skin on, peeling it partially or rubbing the fuzz off the skin will do as well. </p>

<p>2. Banana: When you eat bananas, don�t throw away the peels just yet. If you�re feeling down and blue, these will help you get a lighter mood. Taiwan researchers found out banana peel extracts contain serotonin, a chemical that balances the mood. To use, simply boil the peels in water for about 10 minutes. You can drink it once it�s cool. </p>
