Serena Williams proved shes still number on the tennis court by winning against Maria Sharapova at the French Open championships on Saturday! With a score of 6-4, 6-4 theres no doubt that she ruled the court.

After serving her winning ball, Serena threw down her racket and sank to her knees in elation! Everyone watching at Roland Garros felt her excitement at the win.

During the awarding of the trophy Serena could still hardly believe her achievement. Its been 11 years since she won her first French Open in 2002. She is now a proud holder of 16 Grand Slam titles. What could be better than that?

But it wasnt easy for Serena because Maria Sharapova also did great shot after shot. She even admitted that she also got nervous and doubted if shell make it during the three final-game aces.

Maria is a good sport and admitted that Serena played a great match and that her serves were really good and she played deep.

Congratulations Serena!

One can safely say that Lionel Messi is truly a Football legend!
Messi won the prestigious FIFA Ballon D'Or trophy once again for the 4th consecutive time.
He has proven that he is indeed better than the rest but in his acceptance speech he said that he's more interested in the "team" awards and thanked his Barcelona colleagues and his friends in the Argentina team.

Messi has made the final three, 6 years in a row and he's only 25 years old!
And he's breaking Football records for years!

By winning the Ballon D'Or 4 times, Messi beats Frances Michel Platini and Johan Cruyff and Marco van Basten of the Netherlands, who have won it 3 times.

Other records include number of goals in a single European season.
Messi beat former Bayern Munich striker Muellers record of 67 goals in a single European season, finishing with 73.

Congrats Messi ... you deserve it.

Rafael Nadal inadvertently showed off his lean body last week at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center Flushing, Queens when he toweled his body dry during a break in his match with Nicolas Mahat.

His shirtless pictures show that Rafael or Rafa, as lots of people call him, is in great shape for his game. But then appearances can sometimes be deceiving right, because underneath that lean and seemingly great physique is a machine thats about to crumple.

Tennis is a strenuous game and its taking its toll on Rafa. Journalists were witnesses to its proof last Monday after winning against David Nalbandian at the U.S. Open. Rafa was having an interview with the Spanish press, when he suffered a painful cramping on his left leg. It seemed severe because he was incapacitated for about 10 minutes.

His state and reaction during that time elicited concern from the media. When the attack was over, Rafa tried to downplay the incident saying as he stood up, I just had a cramping in my leg thats all.

And now there are speculations that it wont be long now before Rafael Nadal quits Tennis because of his injuries. Would he quit soon do you think?

Bahrain is once again a part of the 20-race F1 Grand Prix happening next year! The racing event will be heading to this country on April 22, 2012. It will be the fourth race scheduled next year, back to back with China. This was confirmed through a unanimous decision by the World Motor Sport Council members.

The F1 Grand Prix this year was supposed to open in Bahrains Sakhir circuit last March; however, it did not materialize due to political unrest in the country. There were plans to reschedule but in the end Bahrain was dropped from the 2011 calendar.

Though its good news for Bahrain, Turkey is on the other hand doesnt have a reason to be happy. The Turkish Grand Prix has been dropped from the 2012 Calendar after seven years because the race organizers failed to come to an agreement with F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone.

Next years Formula One race will kick-off in March in Australia followed by Malaysia. Next stop in April is China and Bahrain. The month of May will see the race in Spain and Monaco; June in Canada and Europe; July in Britain, Germany and Hungary; September in Belgium, Italy and Singapore; October in Japan, Korea and India. November, the last month of the race will be in Abu Dhabi, United States and finally ending in Brazil.

NASCAR is one of every car racers dreams, so being able to compete in this series is quite a privilege. And its a privilege that Danica Patrick wont pass up! Although it hasnt been officially confirmed yet, it seems that Danica will be moving to NASCAR in 2012.

Also, Danica will race part time in NASCAR Sprint Cup with Tony Stewarts Stewart Haas Racing. Associated Press got their information from two people familiar with the situation but refused to be named because shes still under contract with her IndyCar team.

Tiger Woods is now ready to go back to golf after an 11-week break to make his left leg better. He will be playing at this weeks WGC Bridgestone Invitational to be held at Firestone, in Akron Ohio. He made the announcement himself on his Twitter page last Thursday, Feeling fit and ready to tee it up at Firestone next week. Excited to get back out there!

Woods hasnt played since May 12 after withdrawing from the Players Championship due to pain in his knee and Achilles. These injuries were acquired while he was playing at the Masters back in April.

With the 11-week res and recovery is it guaranteed that Woods would finish on top of his game just like in the years before the downturns in his life? You see another thing that could affect his game play this time around is the fact that he has a new caddie! Last month he fired Steve Williams for caddying for Adam Scott without his permission. According to reports his new caddie would be Bryon Bell who is Woods childhood friend and president of Tiger Woods Design.

LeBron James became one of the most criticized basketball players when he suddenly abandoned team Cleveland Cavaliers for Miami Heat. Until now a lot of basketball aficionados have not forgiven him for what he did. But with the new Nike commercial entitled Rise would these people have a change of heart for LeBron James?

You see Nikes Rise campaign video will make people reflect on their reactions about what happened before.

The video is riddled with the question What should I do? Then he goes rhetorical on whether he should just admit that he made a mistake, just be a villain, and not listen to his friend and people around him. At the end of the video he asks, Should I be what you want me to be? Of all that he said in the video, this is the statement that says it all. Should he really do what people expect of him and not what he thinks is best for himself only.

People around the world are going to perceive this ad campaign differently. But one sure thing is that Nike made a winner in this particular commercial.

Have you seen the ad? Its the thing everyones talking about right now.

Who doesnt know champion Olympian Michael Phelps? I hope youre not one of them. Definitely he was one of the best watched athletes during the 2008 Olympics. But now, aside from swimming, hes finally had time to have a social life.

The following day, they were again caught by TMZ cameras shopping at Nordstrom at the Grove and dropping by Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf for refreshments. But they took off after seeing the cams and drove off in a large SUV, with Michael apparently driving.

If you are an avid NFL fan for sure you know linebacker Junior Seau. On Monday, the authorities had to rescue him after he crashed his car off a cliff. Some say that he drove his car off the cliff on purpose in Carlsbad, California after he was released from jail due to charges of domestic violence. Yes they say its a suicide attempt!

However, Junior Seau himself denies that. He said that he simply fell asleep at the wheel of his Cadillac Escalade that caused him to drive off the cliff. He was the only occupant of the vehicle. He was taken to a nearby hospital in Carlsbad immediately. Good thing the NFL player didnt suffer serious injuries.

During investigation, the police didnt find any evidence of Junior Seau being drunk or under the influence of drugs. But to be sure, they conducted a blood test, the result of which will be out in six weeks.

And in case you didnt know, Junior Seau was arrested on Sunday night for allegedly assaulting his 25-year-old girlfriend. He was released on bail early Monday morning.

This guy was with the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots previously. Right now he is working as a free agent.

If the institution that you belong is not satisfied with your performance, they will just gladly let you go, as what Diego Maradona found out recently. The executive committee of the Argentina Football Association (AFA) unanimously resolved not to renew Maradonas contract as coach of the national team. The resolution regarding his contract happened two days ago after Maradona refused the request to change his staff.

I admire his loyalty to his staff. But I guess this all boils down to the fact that the Argentina Football team was not able to take home the World Cup title. Germany won over Argentina at the recently held World Cup with a 4-0 score.

Maradona had been the coach of the national team for 18 months. The team was under his tutelage starting November 2008. During his reign, Argentina won 18 and lost 6 of the international games they joined since he took charge. 6 loses in one calendar year is the worst record that Argentina ever made.

Obviously Maradona is furious about the AFAs decision to discontinue his contract. He is also talking about betrayal. The specific persons hes pointing his finger at are the national team director Carlos Bilardo and the association president Julio Grondona.

We have seen over the years just how difficult it can be to bounce back from a sex scandal like the one golfer Tiger Woods has been attempting to shake off for the past months. But, it seems things are only getting worse for the man who once dominated the 'green'. It seems Woods was caught swearing excessively on live TV after missing a putt during the British Open at St Andrews. The childish tantrum he threw was triggered by the fact he had used a new putter in the early stages of the tournament- and he obviously wasn't happy when -at least in his opinion- it caused him to miss the shot.

This also comes at a time where sports commentator are questioning whether Tiger Woods has lost his touch and hence his 'number one' status. Tim Kawakami at San Jose's Mercury News described him as 'just another very good player'. Some put it down to his age finally catching up with him, others feel he has become caught up with his celebrity status and endorsement deals to the extent that it's affecting his game. Regardless of his reasons it is undoubtedly true that Woods has played a very average game this year- and if he continues to do so then his career will likely be over.

Michael Jordan Speaks Up About LeBron James Decision

Basketball fans and even those who are not know the full score of what happened to LeBron James. Surprise, pleasant or otherwise, is the best word to describe peoples reactions to his decision to quit playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers and join forces with the Miami Heat where Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh are a part of.

Lots of people have already expressed their opinions about what he did. Now its time to hear what the six-time NBA champion has to sayMichael Jordan. In an interview, Jordans statement clearly indicates his disapproval for what Lebron James did. He said, Theres no way, with hindsight, I wouldve ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, hey, look, lets get together and play on one team. But thats...things are different.

Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh are two of the best on the team. While LeBron James was on the Cavaliers he must have considered them his competition. But in just like a blink of an eye, LeBron James turned the other way and wants to be good pals with them. Instead of going for beating them and achieve greatness on his own, he decided to join forces.

With LeBron James, Dwayen Wade, and Chris Bosh on one team, I guess that makes Miami Heat a hard team to beat.

Anticipation surrounded me as I was watching the world cup finals in The Gambia, Africa. My friends, a Spanish couple, an Englishman and I were the only ones supporting Spain in the mist of numerous Netherland fans wearing blinding orange shirts to show off their pride of the Dutch team.

The game started and the screams followed, girls whistling at the sight of Gerard Pique, Xabi Alonso and David Villa, me included of course. Spain started off strong but the Netherlands defense was impenetrable. The players all caught up in the game were being a little too rough but the referee had no fear of using his yellow cards, four yellow cards, two for each team in just the first half which ended with a lot of boos, a few unnecessary screams and a nil -nil score that showed just how strong both teams were.

Half-time started and our longing for the game to start was cut short when it started raining, the satellite went straight to no or bad signal, however, people just sat with hardly any complains something am not used to seeing in Lebanon, where even a simple sound malfunction can stir up a fight and endless complains, nothing bad about that we Lebanese are just enthusiastic people.

Luckily the rain settled down and we only missed the first 10 minutes of the second match. The second match caused us the Spanish fans to jump out of our chairs every two minutes and the Netherlands fans to sit glumly in their chairs. However with a striker like Sneider, the sits were slowly being shifted and the Netherlands fans were screaming at the top of their lungs, fortunately Iker Casillas was at the peak of his game protecting his post in every way possible. He truly deserved his golden glove award.

More yellow cards were given and even a red card against Dutch defender John Heitinga, but that still didnt stop either teams in their ultimate journey to capture the cup. The game ended with a nil-nil score and the players were preparing for the extra time session.

Extra time started and both teams were determined to win the World Cup for the very first time. However in the 116th minute of the match the matador Andres Iniesta scored a goal with a tremendous strike from inside the box. Our screams were unstoppable the Spanish couple chanting the Spanish national anthem and the Dutch quietly complaining about the ball being off-side, however complains where muted when the replay was showed in slow motion. With four minutes left in the match there was hardly anything the Netherlands could do and at 120 minutes the whistle was blown announcing Spain for the very first time to be the Fifa world cup champions 2010.

The Spanish La Rouge were astounded, Casillas was shedding thankful and joyous tears and the players were ecstatic as they held the cup for the very first time.

Viva Espana!!!

Looks like we were in for a lot of surprises this year, teams in the world cup known to be champions disappoint their fans even though theyve been playing extremely well.

Brazil, Argentina, England, France, Italy, Germany, Uruguay all fans favorite teams shock the world with their defeat. World cup former champions Italy didnt even make it into the Quarter Finals.

The semi-finals also came as a shock, the first game, Netherlands vs. Uruguay showed how strong both teams are, and even though Netherlands beat Uruguay by 3-2, the Uruguayans were fighting for their place at the finals until the last whistle.

The second match of the semi-finals was also surprising as most people predicted that Germany will qualify. However Spain a team that has never reached the finals before beat three times champions with a challenging match that left Germanys fans in tears and Spains fans rejoicing.

On Saturday 10th July 2010, the two defeated teams, Germany and Uruguay will play for the third and fourth place of the world cup, Whilst Sunday 11th July 2010 will mark the closing game of the 2010 world cup, where two teams will battle for a title they have never won before.

Who do you predict will win the Fifa world cup 2010 Netherlands or Spain (SPAIN!!)?
