McCormack commits to Bluebirds for four years

ROSS McCormack has committed himself to the Bluebirds for the next four years.
Glasgow-born McCormack, who scored 23 goals for Cardiff City last season, signed his contract after training and said: "We all want to go a step farther than we managed last season."
McCormack remains intent on playing at Premier League level, but wants that to be with Cardiff City.
If a Premier club does come in with an offer which Cardiff find acceptable they have told McCormack they will see how he feels at the time.
Michael Chopra has also completed his £3m transfer from Sunderland, having played for the Bluebirds on loan last season.
It was a good days business for the Bluebirds with Mark Hudson signing - and manager Dave Jones is intent on bringing more new signings in as quickly as possible.

Hudson completes £1m transfer to Bluebirds

MARK Hudson today completed his £1m transfer from Charlton Athletic to Cardiff City.
The big central defender came through a medical today, having agreed personal terms on Tuesday.
Cardiff will pay £700,000 for Hudson plus add-ons.
Hudson is the second new signing for the Bluebirds during this close season, following goalkeeper David Marshall's switch from Norwich City.
"I want five in for the start of the season - and we are close to three," said manager Dave Jones, chatting as the players trained at Cardiff City Stadium.
The Bluebirds players are have double training sessions right now, morning and afternoons.
They looked relaxed as they worked hard in the lush green surface.

Chopra deal breaks Cardiff City transfer record

MICHAEL Chopra becomes Cardiff City's record signing today - at £3m.
Goalscorer Chopra played for the Bluebirds on loan from Sunderland last season, while he completes a full transfer today.
It was agreed some time ago the deal would be completed on July 1.
Sunderland signed Chopra from Cardiff in a transfer worth up to £5m and had paid money owed apart from add-ons for appearances etc.
City agreed to buy Chopra back for £3m, although they will only pay a fraction of that up front with the rest in instalments.
Chopra's £3m beats the previous record of £1.7m paid to Stoke City for Peter Thorne during the Sam Hammam era.
Cardiff also expect Ross McCormack to sign a new contract this week.

Hudson expected to sign for Bluebirds today

MARK Hudson, Charlton Athletic's captain and centre-half last season, is expected to sign for Cardiff City later today.
The Bluebirds have agreed a fee with Charlton - thought to be £700,000 plus add-ons - and 6ft 2ins defender had talks on personal terms yesterday.
He is having a medical today and will sign for Cardiff City later today.
City chairman Peter Ridsdale would not reveal the identity of the player who arrived in South Wales for talks and set to sign, but it is thought to be Hudson.
The arrival of Hudson could spark another two or more signings over the next week.
Cardiff City's opening pre-season game is at home to Chasetown on Friday week and they then head off to Lisbon in Portugal for a week-long, two-match tour.

Hudson in South Wales for talks with Cardiff City

MARK Hudson is in South Wales for talks with Cardiff City on a £700,000 transfer from Charlton Athletic, insist sources at the London club.
The big central defender has been a target for Bluebirds' manager Dave Jones since the start of the year. Jones moved to sign Hudson as a replacement for Darren Purse, but the deal could not be completed during the transfer window.
Now City are back in again, the fee has been agreed and could reach £1m with add-ons.
City chairman Peter Ridsdale has confirmed they have reached agreement on a fee with another club and are in talks with a centre-half today, but will not reveal the identity of the man they want.
Today, in Scottish newspapers, Cardiff are linked with a move for Slovakian international midfield player/defender Maros Klimpl. He was with Motherwell on loan last season.
Dave says no to Baggies interest

DAVE Jones is staying with Cardiff City.
He left no doubt when he said he was asked on Skytelevision today about Albion interest, saying: "No. The only moving I am doing is with Cardiff City into the new stadium. It's business as normal.
"In terms of the West Bromwich Albion job you can say it's a no."
Jones was on a two-man short-list for the Albion job along with Preston North End manager Alan Irvine.
Bluebirds players are back in training, starting with fitness tests to ensure they have all returned ready for action.
Feeney leaving Cardiff City to sign for Leeds United

WARREN Feeney is switching from Cardiff City to Leeds United.
Bluebirds' manager Dave Jones gave en Feeney, who has a year left on his Cardiff contract, permission for talks with Leeds.
He spent a season-long loan with Dundee United last season and is joining Coca-Cola League One club Leeds United.
He started his career as a trainee at Leeds United, but did not make a first team appearance.
The 28-year-old from Belfast said: "Cardiff have given permission for another club to sign me. Leeds United are a massive club and I am excited."
Feeney has won 31 full international caps for Northern Ireland, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.

Albion want Jones, but I can't see him leaving Cardiff now

WEST Brom want Dave Jones. Can they have him? Probably not.
There seems little doubt Albion are keen on Jones and Preston North End's Alan Irvine.
Personally, I would suggest they look to Irvine.
Jones is keen to stay in South Wales and finish the job. He's well paid and is working to bring in the players he wants for the new season.
Why would he moved to another Championship club?
If Albion were still in the Premiership then I could see a reason for Jones to think seriously about it.
The Baggies are a club just out of the Premiership, but it seems to be Jones will be staying.

Jones searching far and wide for new City talent

CARDIFF City have searched nationwide and beyond for the two central defenders they now need following Roger Johnson's £5m move to Birmingham City.
Gabor Gyepes remains with the Bluebirds, but Darren Purse (to Sheffield Wednesday) and Johnson have moved on.
Craig Cathcart at Manchester United is a 20-year-old defender who will interest Cardiff on a loan deal, having done a solid job for Plymouth Argyle last season.
Other names which could be of interest are Spaniard Miguel Angel Llera (MK Dons), Kaspars Gorkss (QPR), Mark Hudson (Charlton Athletic), Sean O'Hanlon (MK Dons), Matthew Mills (Doncaster Rovers), Tal Ben Haim (Manchester City), James Collins (West Ham United), Calum Davenport (West Ham United), Damien Delaney (QPR).

Whitbread is currently with Coca-Cola League One club Millwall.
Jones goes head-to-head with Keane

DAVE Jones has gone head-to-head with Roy Keane in the chase to strengthen his Cardiff City squad.
Both are keen on Damien Delaney at Queens Park Rangers.
Keane was first in and Delaney looked set for Suffolk, but Jones moved in and it's in the balance where the defender will go now.
Manager Jones is also being linked with moves for Manchester United's highly-rated young Irish defender Craig Cathcart on loan and Birmingham City's Liam Ridgewell, who was a regular during their promotion campaign.
The Bluebirds completed Roger Johnson's £5m sale to Premier League Birmingham City and then quickly moved for defender Delaney, who can play at left-back or centre-back.
"Delaney was on his way to Ipswich Town, it looked certain the deal would go ahead without a hitch," said a QPR insider.
Next move on Johnson is down to Birmingham City

STILL no firm news on Roger Johnson's future.
Birmingham City want him - and Cardiff City are willing to sell at £5m.
The delay is that Birmingham manager Alex McLeish wants to pay in instalments, but the Bluebirds aren't interested in hire purchase.
It seems, after several weeks of talks, Birmingham are now willing to hand over a large chunk of the fee - £2m or more - and the rest over the next year or so.
That's a big shift from their initial offer of £1m down, three more payments of £1m every August and £250,000 for each of the next four seasons they stay in the Premier League.
The only remaining problem, it seems, is that Birmingham want to make the first down payment at the end of August - when they receive the Sky tv money earned through promotion.
City manager Dave Jones, though, will want to go out and spend immediately if Johnson goes. He needs the money as soon as Johnson signs for Birmingham.
The player is keen on a move to the Premier League and it looks certain to happen. That is now down to Birmingham City.
Jones already needs one new centre-half as Darren Purse has moved to Sheffield Wednesday and if Johnson leaves as well he will need two to join Gabor Gyepes.
Cardiff City are awaiting the next call from Birmingham manager McLeish.
Free agent Miller a target for the Bluebirds

CARDIFF City are being linked with former Manchester United and Sunderland central midfield player Liam Miller - and it seems there is a fair chance they could land him.
Miller is a free agent after being released by Sunderland.
Former Black Cats team boss Roy Keane lost patience with Miller, who was prone to turning up late for training.
Keane insistsed the decision to let Miller out on loan to Queens Park Rangers was nothing to do with his quality as a player.
City need to fire up their midfield and manager Dave Jones would surely love the challenge of drawing the best from Republic of Ireland international Miller.
There is a lot of work ahead for Jones, who remains intent on signing up to eight new players.
That, though, will depend on who goes out.
Chairman Peter Ridsdale will insist Cardiff make room on the age bill before adding new names.
