Follow Devils in Newcastle via WalesOnline

CARDIFF Devils won a thriller at Newcastle Vipers on Saturday night, beating the home team in a penalty shootout.
Mark Smith and Max Birbraer scored penalties to earn victory on the road.
Tonight (Sunday) the teams meet again at Newcastle's Metro Arena. Quite a few fans followed the match via a Wales Online live, interactive blog last night - and the same service is available tonight.
Log into WalesOnline from 5.15pm today and keep up to date with the match.

Cousin linked with loan move to Bluebirds

CARDIFF City have been linked with a loan move for Hull City striker Daniel Cousin.
It is still possible even though the transfer window has closed - a new emergency loan window opens on Tuesday.
Personally, though, I can't see the Bluebirds moving for Cousin.
They were interested when he was with Rangers, but now? I don't think so.
Dave Jones, I'm sure, would love to bring in another striker. But the club finances mean he would have to move others out to make way.
Riccy Scimeca was wanted by Brentford, but turned it down, while Jones would also have liked to see Josh Magennis and Aaron Morris go out on loan to gain experience.
Darcy Blake, of course, has signed for Plymouth Argyle until January.
Chairman Peter Ridsdale has said there will not be any more additions to the squad unless others move out.
Jones would have loved to sign Wayne Routledge from Queens Park Rangers, but the London club apparently want £3m.
Julian Gray and Vincent Pericard spent time on trial with the Bluebirds, but neither did well enough to earn a contract.
City players return to training action on Friday

CARDIFF City players report back for training on Friday after a few days off.
Jay Bothroyd is okay after he suffered a muscle problem behind a knee during the early stages of the 2-0 defeat at Doncaster Rovers and it's thought he will be fine for the home match against Newcastle United.
Joe Ledley is still in talks on his new contract, or at least his advisors are working on the figures presented by the club.
Ledley has been away on a short break to Paris where he has been able to relax.
Peter Ridsdale, meanwhile, is away in Malaysia for talks with a wealthy property magnate in Kuala Lumpur.
Dato Chan Tien Ghee invited Ridsdale out for further talks on possible sponsorship and investment in Cardiff City FC.
Ridsdale has invited Dato Chan to attend Cardiff's match against Newcastle United which looks certain to be the first sell-out at the new stadium.

McNaughton likely to miss opening League match

KEVIN McNaughton looks certain to miss Cardiff City's first League match of the new season.
His ankle injury, sustained against Celtic, looks more serious than at first thought.
Manager Dave Jones was hoping to play Paul Quinn at right-back with McNaughton left, but will have to rethink.
Mark Kennedy now comes into the reckoning at left-back for the first Coca-Cola Championship match, against Scunthorpe United at Cardiff City Stadium.
From Cardiff City's team against Swindon on Saturday, in a match which ended 0-0, only Mark Hudson looks likely to start against Scunny.
The probable starting line-up on day one of the League season will be: Marshall, Quinn, Hudson, Gyepes, Kennedy, Burke, McPhail, Ledley (capt), Whittingham, Bothroyd, Chopra.
Before Scunthorpe come to South Wales, of course, Cardiff City play Valencia at home in a friendly next Saturday (3pm).

Ross clearly upset after Swindon match

ROSS McCormack was clearly upset after Cardiff City's match at Swindon Town.
He was booed by a number of Bluebirds' fans - and there were chants accusing him of being greedy.
McCormack looked a little distressed about the whole episode - including the fact that his telephone call to chairman Peter Ridsdale became a news story on Sky television.
The Scottish international insists he did not ask for a transfer - and merely rang to talk about his situation.
"I made a phone call and suddenly it was on television," said McCormack, who insists he is still keen to play for Cardiff City.
"I want to play football. That's it. Right now it looks as though Michael Chopra and Jay Bothroyd will start in attack for Cardiff. I am not keen to play wide.
"It's every footballer's dream to play Premier League football, but first I want to be playing. I could go to a Premier League club and be on the bench. That's not what I want.
Parry will decide over Preston move on Monday

PAUL Parry played for Cardiff City in their goalless draw against Swindon Town and then dashed off to attend a wedding.
He left the County Ground saying he would be going to Preston North End on Monday for talks on a possible £300,000 transfer.
The Bluebirds have given Parry permission for talks with Preston manager Alan Irvine, having already agreed the fee.
It's a tough one for Welshman Parry. He isn't keen to leave, but his current contract ends next summer - and Preston will offer a deal taking him through the next three seasons.
Irvine badly needs a wide player and he sees Parry as the answer.
We'll know more after Parry's talks with Irvine on Monday.

City move in to sign Gerrard

DAVE Jones is stepping up his quest for new players - and has brought in another central defender today.
Anthony Gerrard, a 22-year-old from Walsall and the cousin of Liverpool's Steve, has agreed personal terms and will sign for the Bluebirds for a small fee.
Neither club will reveal the level of fee, but it is thought to be around £200,000. Walsall turned down a bid from Scunthorpe United before accepting City's offer.
Manager Jones is also set to complete the signing of Paul Quinn, a full-back from Motherwell, this weekend.
That would take City's close season signings to four so far - goalkeeper David Marshall, Mark Hudson, Gerrard and Quinn.

Boythroyd banter has City squad laughing

BANTER was flying as Cardiff City went into their second training of the day - with Jay Bothroyd the target for manager Dave Jones.
City players have been going through double sessions on the plush green pitch surface at Cardiff City Stadium and they were set for a 1.30pm start in the afternoon.
Jones had a chat to the group and then stepped back with coach Terry Burton taking over.
That's when Bothroyd sat down on the grass to get his strappings sorted - and Jones has the squad laughing with his comments aimed at the striker.
Bothroyd was quickly ready, though, and back in the fray.

'Franny' fired up for the new Elite League season

NEIL Francis, who will be Cardiff Devils' bench coach for the new season, is hugely optimistic about the new campaign.
"Gerad Adams has recruited some top notch players and we'll be running three lines who can make a big impact," said 'Franny'.
"We all believe Cardiff Devils can earn success and we'll be doing everything possible to achieve that next season.
"I'm excited about my new role with the team, backing up Gerad from the bench, and about the whole season."
Devils will have Mark Smith, Max Birbraer and Matt Miller on their first line with Brad Voth, Phil Hill and Jay Latulippe on the second line.
That will give Devils a third line with two imports - Gerad Adams on the wing and a new centreman yet to be named.
Adams is focused on returning in peak condition - and was working out at the David Lloyd Leisure Club in Cardiff before he went back to Canada for a short stay.

Enckelman shaves his head for the new season

PETER Enckelman has returned for the new season with a new look.
He has shaved off all his hair!
Finnish international Enckelman was in training at Cardiff City stadium yesterday - and stood out from the crowd with his new look.
Goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson was working with goalkeepers Enckelman, David Marshall and Erwin Sak on a hot, sunny day in Cardiff.
