A-Z Vol. 1 Bonus Tracks

Ash have today confirmed details of the bonus tracks that will appear on the upcoming A-Z Vol. 1 release. The tracks are all newly recorded, including a re-recorded version of Carly Simon’s Coming Around Again, the band originally recorded this for a radio session back in 1995. The full list of bonus tracks is as follows:

Ash have revealed details of the 3rd free and exclusive bonus track to be given away to A-Z series subscribers. Subscribe to the groundbreaking A-Z Series before midnight Thursday 25th February 2010 and receive an exclusive bonus track, ‘Night Terrors’.

Night Terrors will NOT be available anywhere else, the ONLY way to get this track is to subscribe to the A-Z Series now in the Ash store. The free bonus track will be sent to both new and current subscribers the w/c 1st March.

Ash To Release A-Z Vol.1 On CD

Ash have announced today that they will release A-Z Vol. 1 on the 19th April 2010 through Atomic Heart Records. The release marks the halfway point in Ash’s groundbreaking 26 single campaign the A-Z Series. Wrapping up singles A to M, the CD will also feature a host of bonus material. There will also be a limited edition CD/DVD format, featuring the A-Z Tour diary filmed last autumn. The band are currently back in their Manhattan Studio recording tracks which will complete the second half of the series. The A-Z Vol. 1 track listing is as follows:

Ash To Play Gig Broadcast Online

Ash has partnered with Livestream to broadcast an exclusive performance streaming live from the band’s own Atomic Heart Studios in NYC.

On February 3rd, at 8pm GMT (3:00pm EST/12noon PST), fans can tune in to Ash’s Facebook page, www.ashofficial.com, or Livestream.com to view the broadcast.

Immediately following the performance, the members of Ash — Tim Wheeler, Mark Hamilton and Rick McMurray – will interact with their fans via a live Q+A session where they will answer questions submitted via Twitter and Facebook.

With Livestream as the exclusive streaming provider of the event on February 3rd, the player for the webcast can be embedded anywhere. Integration with Facebook and Twitter allows viewers to engage in an online conversation with other fans and the band. The performance will also be encoded for the iPhone, making the broadcast accessible to over a million iPhone users with a 3G wireless connection at http://iphone.livestream.com.

Ash have announced details of a UK spring tour. Having re-invigorated the live circuit with their gruelling A-Z tour zigzagging across the UK late last year, Ash return to some more familiar venues this April and May. All tickets go on sale Tuesday 12th January 2010 priced £15 regionally and £16.50 in London. The dates are as follows:

Ash have announced today that those who subscribe to the A-Z Singles Series by midnight Thursday 14th January 2010 will receive an exclusive bonus track ‘Gallows Hill’.

‘Pripyat’ Video

Ash released ‘Pripyat’ as a single yesterday, letter F in the A-Z series. You can view a video for the song below, featuring photographs by Robert Polidori from his book, ‘Zones of Exclusion: Pripyat and Chernobyl’.

Pripyat, is an abandoned city in the zone of alienation in northern Ukraine, Kiev Oblast, near the border with Belarus. The city was founded in 1970 to house the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant workers, and was abandoned in 1986 following the Chernobyl disaster. Its population had been around 50,000 before the accident.

Ash have today released an official video for their single ‘Tracers’. You can see the video below. The video was shot in Hastings during the A-Z Tour and was directed by Josh Kletzkin. The band released their new single ‘The Dead Disciples’ yesterday.

Fire That Still Burns At The Heart Of Ash

Andrew Johnston, a freelance journalist based in Belfast, interviewed Tim Wheeler a couple of weeks ago for the News Letter, a regional daily paper in Northern Ireland. Andrew is an old friend of Ash from the very early days and helped them get some of their first shows, and his old band played with them loads of times.

The interview, titled ‘Fire that still burns at the heart of Ash’, looks back at Ash’s entire history, as Tim explains how it felt being on tour with Elastica whilst still at school, and how the band have evolved now they are in their thirties.
