Our next Eritrean refugee family

Our church family has been eagerly anticipating the arrival of our next refugee family for several years. The family is comprised of Alawa’s sister and her husband and three children ages 6, 11 and 15. The family is now healthy and they have completed their orientation at the refugee camp. We expect that they will probably arrive in the U.S. this summer. There is a need for a temporary place for the family to live when they first arrive. They will have a lot of appointments when they first arrive (e.g., doctors, public assistance, etc.) and may need help with transportation to some of these appointments. The parents speak English, which will ease the transition. Vacation Bible Camp 2012 – Operation Overboard

WPC’s Vacation Bible Camp, entitled ,Operation Overboard will run from Monday, June 25^th to Friday, June 29^th, from 6 pm to 8 pm. All children, aged 4 to 11 (completed 5^th grade) are welcome, and we would LOVE for your child to participate!

If your child came to last year’s VBC (Renew, where campers studied the parable of the farmer planting seed), great! You already know a bit about VBC. If your child didn’t, don’t worry about it – we’re going to have even more fun this year, and we love meeting new friends! This year, at Operation Overboard, campers will dive deep into the ocean (and deep into God’s Word), in order to learn five important lessons. Campers will learn to:

Depend on God
Dare to care
Claim Jesus
Choose to follow
Change the world

Along the way, campers will play exciting games, make memorable crafts (including t-shirts), sing catchy songs, and learn bible stories. Your child will make many new friends, as they are guided by our teenaged counselors and adult area leaders. We’ll even meet a new friend named Ocho – an Octopus (puppet, not real) who is an expert at hiding on the ocean floor (and telling corny jokes!) The program costs $10/camper ($20 maximum/family), and scholarships are available to those who need them.

If you would like to register your child, just fill out the registration section below. You can either mail in a check or pay via PayPal right on our site. Registration by June 18 is appreciated, but walk-ins are welcome.

Middle School Mission Trip Cookie Sale

Our middle school youth will be going on a weeklong mission trip to Vermont this summer. To help defray expenses, they will be selling home baked cookies for the next several weeks. Ordered cookies will be available at the church on May 27 and June 3. Each Sunday prior to June 3, selected flavors will be available for immediate purchase and consumption.

Florence Rizzio, mother of Lynne Morton, died on May 6. A viewing will be held at Brower Funeral Home, 908 S Providence Rd, Wallingford, PA 19086 on Thursday, May 10. Calling hours are from 7 – 9 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at Brower Funeral Home on Friday, May 11 at 10 AM.

Chances are there are significant differences. That’s something your kids might want to know something about. What was TV like when you were growing up “mom?”

Spend a fun night with TV from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s and show your kids what great TV we had back then.
