Anouk-Kola arrived

We started early in the morning to get our new family member the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog Anouk-Kola.

She was whining a little at the beginning of our long travel to home, but more because she wanted to explore the whole car and not only sitting on the floor – but after some time she layed down and snoozed a little. The entire four hours drive (with rest) went without any problems and also at the border we didn’t had long.

As we arrived it was time for a meal in her new home and then she explored of course all rooms and the garden.

Meanwhile, he have her since three days and she has settled in quite well and next week it’s time for her to go to her first puppy play group.

Yesterday we visited the puppies again – we wanted to take them all with us. Once again, we have stayed much longer than originally planned.

In the evening, we were able to have a look who Chaos does Mantrail, that means my wife went ahead and Chaos followed the track a good fifteen minutes later. That was really interesting and we can well imagine to do this with our dog too.

Speaking of our dog – finally we had to decide which of the puppies should be ours and we decided for puppy number 3 (which was already our choice after our first visit).

And now finally she isn’t a number anymore, now she has a name: Anouk-Kola
Anouk (French) = “the Fine”, “the lovely”
Kola (Lakota) = “friend for life”

Czechoslovakian Wolfdog

This is a relatively new breed of dog, which can boast neither hundreds of years of tradition nor the names of famous rulers or eminent personalities who bred it or owned it. Nevertheless, it attracts attention wherever it appears. Nobody doubts, not for a moment, that these dogs are of the most distinguished origin. Their mother is Nature. It looks like a wolf. It is tall but light and strong. Its straight thick hair is wolf-like grey with a typical white mask.

In the year 1955 a biological experiment took place in the CSSR of that time, namely, the crossing of a German Shepherd Dog with a Carpathian Wolf. The experiment established that the progeny of the mating of a male dog to a female wolf as well as that of male wolf to female dog, could be reared. The overwhelming majority of the products of these mating possessed the genetic requirements for continuation of breeding. In the year 1965, after the ending of the experiment, a plan for the breeding of this new breed was worked out. This was to combine the usabelqualities of the wolf with the favourable qualities of the dog. In the year 1982, the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog, through the general committee of the breeder’s associations of the CSSR of that time, was recognized as a national breed.

Addition to the family – Wolfdog

Actually we wanted a Siberian Husky, but after a long time of judging the pros and cons, we finally decided to take a Czechoslovakian wolfdog.

Huskies are responsible that I overcame my fear of dogs and I’ve also done a lot with huskies during my various stays in Alaska and the dogsledraces.

But in parts that’s exactly the disadvantage, because I can simply not imagine to do skijoring with only one Husky for few miles run – in Alaska, I always had 14 dogs, and we did runs from about 50 to 100 km.

In early June we met the breeder of the Kennel Lupina Chaos and Chaos, the would-be mother dogs – and then it was clear to us that we are ready for a “little chaos”.
