The camels at Wadi Rum, Jordan, were full of character. This was more of a parking lot full of camels and is where local Bedouins would take a rest (mostly with tourists). There was a local Bedouin tent where were able to try Bedouin tea otherwise known as Bedouin Whiskey. We also filmed a “Harlem Shake” videos with the Bedouins as well. The people of Jordan are full of character and are some of the kindest people that we have bet traveling around the the world. Often times tourists only spend a few days in Jordan thinking there are limited choices on things to see. Would highly recommend that one spends more time in Wadi Rum, Jordan, and also the other less visited sites as well.

Staying in shape while traveling is no easy task. It is hard between uncomfortable bus rides, flights in the middle of the night that could go upwards of 15 hours, and even arriving in a new city without knowing where the “healthy restaurants” are.

To stay in shape while traveling I have developed a quintessential workout plan that has served me well over the years. It is rather easy to follow as long as one has a bit of discipline and about 20 to 30 minutes every day.

The main concept is to work out for two at three months and then not work out for about five years.

The idea here is that you will get in shape during the two or three months and then add back the weight over the course of 3 to 5 years. I am currently in the six or seven year mark which has officially instituted my status as…. a FAT MAN.

The Fat Bastard from Austin Powers

I am now at the heaviest that I have ever been and I am sure that has nothing to do with the fact that I just turned 29 years old in April. Just remember for next year that I will be 29 years old again.

I don’t plan on switching into full “30′s mode” until I’ve reached roughly 34 or even 35 years old.

You just don’t get invited to the same parties when you reach 30 and frankly it just sounds old. No offense to my older readers, all of you are on Facebook now let’s be friends. See my profile here at Marcello Arrambide. I have seen diets come into and out of fashion more often than Oprah’s weight fluctuations.

I love you Oprah!

Losing weight isn’t a tough task. The object of the game is to consume less calories than we burn or starve ourselves. It is up to us to choose the better of the two. I would recommend consumption of food because starving yourself can present problems.

Whether we want to get fit, stay thin, or just prove to our ex-girlfriend or boyfriend that were doing awesome we simply have to burn more calories than we consume. This is easier said than done for travelers since it is hard to get into a rhythm without being in the same location all the time. It’s also difficult when we can’t find a gym. Most of lead a sedentary lifestyle at work and laptops something mobile involving an “i” nvolving addicting Facebook likes and pokes.

Moms, it is not cool to poke your offspring.

The common habit of losing weight today is preparing 1 billion meals to snack on throughout the day. I once was a culprit of this heinous crime by spending my Sundays cooking all day for the entire week.

It is often frowned upon to eat out since restaurant food is cooked with the devil’s food otherwise known as fat. I was introduced to a new way of looking at diets that I have already started two weeks ago. I have already begun to lose a significant amount of fat as I am now in the two weeks into the project.

I will try to be as concise as possible as I do want to explain certain things we understand what we need to do in order to stay in shape. At the end of this post I will recommend to site so you can do further research.

The WanderingTrader Evolution

Our Evolution

To understand how our bodies work we have to understand how we have evolved over the last few hundred thousand years. At the end of the day our species, humans, are animals. Our bodies adapt and change just as any other animal on this planet.

Remember Darwin said that the fittest survive?

It takes humans a long time to adapt and change because we have such long life spans. Our prehistoric history goes in the millions of years to the hunter gatherer society. So our bodies are not used to our common way of eating.

Agriculture and farming, ie: bread, carbs, and pastas for example, are a new phenomenon that have only been around upwards of 5 to 10 10,000 years.

So if we really put this into perspective our bodies are still used to the way we used to live millions of years ago. This means that we are used to going without food for a few days and then having a massive meal when we catch something prehistoric with the name involving “osaurus” at the end.

This is the idea of why we should eat smaller meals throughout the day. Nutritionists and the society claims that this actually speeds up our metabolism.

The Misleading Notion About Our Metabolism

it was Tyler, the winner of the contest to Jordan, that originally put this idea in my head. At first he told me that in metabolism doesn’t really change if you eat more or less throughout the day.

As a person I love to have is manfest in the morning I vehemently dismissed the preposterous claim that I should get my breakfast. The actual reality is that there have been studies done that prove that it doesn’t matter how many time you eat today, your metabolism does not change.

Your metabolism actually slows down after two with three days of not eating.

So the concept here is something that has been introduced that is rather new called intermittent fasting. The idea where you skip certain meals throughout the day in order to reap the benefits of not having food in your stomach.

There have been plenty of medical tests done in order to find the results of what one’s body does if we are in and fasted state. The findings were extremely interesting in that it does not affect your metabolism in a bad way, it does not affect your muscles (muscle mass is not lost when fasting or when you don’t eat is often), and there is even extremely beneficial health benefits to fasting. Here’s a small list and I’ll provide a link at the bottom of this post we get more detailed information:

Decreased insulin levels and increased insulin sensitivity

Increased fat burning

Increased lucrative levels

Increased advantageous hormone levels

Increased weight loss and increased fat loss

The Fallacy That Fact Makes Us Fat

We have been bred to believe that we should not eat fat and that fat is bad. When we think about it analytically our bodies actually need fat because that’s what our bodies are used to. Our body uses fat as energy whereas sugar is converted into fat.

We did not have sugars, refined sugars, or even bread millions of years ago.

What actually causes us to be fat are our bodies reactions to the new diets that we are placing into our system. What actually happens in our body when we consume so much sugar is counter intuitive to losing weight.

Chemicals that are involved in burning fat almost disintegrate entirely. Other chemicals that are responsible for increasing fat in the body exponentially increase.

It also doesn’t help when were eating 3 to 10 times what we should be eating every day by indulging in fast food restaurants like McDonald’s and Burger King.

The Solution

The problem many times for me has been trying to stick with the program when I have to eat six or seven times a day. I have no time to prepare meals and also barely have enough time to work out.

Going on a diet as well is working out working out is a chore when we do it that way.

The concept behind intermittent fasting is that you have all the benefits of fasting but at the same time adjust your schedule to get the benefit of eating at the right times.

In other words, fuel your body when they need fuel and don’t provide fuel when it doesn’t need it.

It is alternating between workout days and loading your body with carbs and eating more fat on days where you don’t work out.

In the next post in going to provide a much more detailed outline of exactly what I’ve done before and what I’m doing now in order to fit a healthy lifestyle with travel.

I never wanted to believe that it was actually true until I stumbled upon an article by Dr. Andrew Weil on Huffington Post. He summarized that maybe we should start looking into this form of eating rather than others and I was convinced.

Dr. Weil has been at the forefront of nutritional information for as long as I can remember. He is definitely a trusted name that I would and one of the main reasons I decided to try it.

I find it very fitting that the industry that makes a profit out of our food purchases wants us to eat more throughout the day. When we think about it analytically it is probably better to go with our evolution than trying to fight it by eating 1 billion times a day.

I have already seen exceptional results and plan on tinkering around with different things and will show my results here on the site.

It’s quite easy and simple I will not be working out for more than 30 to 40 min a day and will be visiting the gym only three days a week. Look forward to sharing my results.

Here are some resources that you will find useful

LeanGains.com (more for diet) – The Godfather of intermittent fasting. Great information of why whites beneficial, how it done, and how to alter it to your schedule. (All information is free).

Eatstopeat e-book (more for explanation of diet)- Any book highlighting a lot of the benefits of intermittent fasting in addition to all of the medical research that has been found to prove the theory is correct. You can buy for $9.99 and if you like it within three days pay an additional $27.

Dirty Diet (more for diet)- A more extreme version of a diet you can use that includes cutting out carbs for the entire week and then loading up on them at the end of the week. This confuses the leptin levels of the body which assists in fat loss.

Arnel’s site (great information for diet, exercise routines, and running examples) – this is the first site that I used to lose over 30 pounds in 12 weeks. It has great information on how to work out and how often in addition to how to eat and how to eat it. I would not recommend the schedule of eating and instead read up on lean gains above in order to find a better schedule.

Marcello Arrambide & The Day Trading Academy reviews the possibility of Fusing Day Trading And Travel is something that I have wanted to share for quite a while now.

Just to give you a rundown in case you are new to this travel site the Wandering Trader is about both traveling and day trading. It has generally been about more travel and left day trading but has chronicled my travels across seven continents over the last few years.

The concept behind the name, wandering to travel, and trader to day trade, has been my nomadic lifestyle for the last few years.

Our new Day Trading Academy logo

The Day Trading Academy is the company where we teach people how to make a living day trading. We have been able to teach quite a high number of people to day trade and now have a small group of people new “Wandering Trader’s”.

We actually have even had some travel bloggers sign of the program as well. Some of them are quite private so their names will not be revealed.

We have a Wandering Trader family that is going to be trading and living in Italy in the summer that I plan to meet up with. Who doesn’t want to day trade in Rome right? Especially since I have never been.

It is certainly important taste and not visit Rome when I was living in Italy for nearly 2 years while attending university. If one could only describe the amount of things to see on the island of Sicily. If you are thinking about visiting Italy I would highly recommend taking a look at Sicily.

The Greek Temple Of Hera in Selinunte in Sicily

We have a new motorcycle Wandering Trader that plans on riding his motorcycle and day trading around the world. We even have some seasoned traveling day traders that we have continued to meet up with around the world.

The next vision for traveling and day trading is as much grander. After I started traveling and day trading around the world I never considered teaching again.

I began the Day Trading Academy by accident when students from the previous company I was with were requesting my assistance after I left the business.

The Day Trading Academy reviews students progress very closely to ensure the highest level of success. I know this personally because I am the main coach and educator and we don’t allow anyone to teach that isn’t trading their own account live.

An unexpected twist occurred when more and more people became profitable in the markets. In full disclosure not everyone is able to be successful trading. But being in the industry for over 10 years now I haven’t seen the level of success that we have had at the Day Trading Academy.

I always receive a mountain of e-mails requesting information exactly how I am able to travel and day trade around the world. Being that it is such a hot topic I wanted to share the next plan that we have to try and fuse day trading and travel.

Our newest WanderingTrader – Tyler winner of the contest to Jordan

We are extremely excited to announce that we are going to start opening day trading centers in a few emerging economies around the world. I will be relocating to Colombia in June after my stay in Singapore.

The vision is to train locals how to day trade in the stock market using our methodologies.

We are going to have a strict selection process and are only going to be accepting locals from the region. We won’t be accepting applications from foreigners to try and learn at the center.

The ultimate goal is to have a few centers around the world starting with Colombia, South Africa, and India. I’ve seen a tremendous interest from both the Spanish-speaking nations of Peru and Colombia to learn more about the stock market and how to day trade.

The view of our penthouse that we rented in Brazil (Trading Voyageur & WanderingTrader)

Having the Day Trading Academy review all serious applicants and even provide them with financial support to be able to open up trading accounts as well.

I am super excited about this and we are going to be calling it the Day Trading Army. What I eventually see is a group of centers interconnected around the world. It would provide everyone in the program the ability to pick up and move to another country (even with their family) and immediately be connected with other traders with a similar mindset.

Later down the line we do plan on opening more centers in Peru, Chile, Singapore, and Turkey has also piqued my interest. Definitely should be exciting!

My first Thai massage is what I would describe as glorious, interesting, and soothing. The first day I had arrived on the exotic island of Koh Samui to attend a boring island hopping yacht party the topic came up. It was after what would become the cheapest meal I have ever had on the planet.

Three men would devour appetizers, side dishes, three mango shakes, and of course a main dish of an exotic Thai dish. It was a dish I do not know the name of or know how to pronounce.

The only thing certain about the main dish is that it would burn the pants off my taste buds.

After devouring our meal we obviously had a nap and later reconvened to debate the concept of a Thai massage. I of course would be intrigued as long as it did not contain a happy ending.

I simply don’t do that on the first date.

We walked along the main drag and every other shop was offering a Thai massage. It seemed similar to a Thai massage superstore. One of the things I always miss about the United States is the variety of products one can find.

To try and describe this to my foreign readers just imagine an aisle at a local grocery store. Most grocery stores overseas have possibly a maximum of 10 different types of cereal. A major chain may have 20. In the United States there are entire aisles of cereals in every sugar intoxicating color, name, and brand. Even taco bell now served a Doritos Taco what is the world coming to?

I wondered if there were different variety of Thai massages.

I would not say that I am a big man but I was concerned about the size of these women. The women in Thailand are beautiful but they are also quite petite.

What exactly was the attack plan for a petite woman giving a man a massage? Do they do it with their feet? Do they jump on your back with carefully constructed techniques that have been refined over thousands of years?

We approached the counter with the handful of Thai massage artists sitting outside and began to request pricing. The price listed on the Thai massage menu was roughly two or three dollars. Everything in Thailand is negotiable however. Our dinner just a few hours ago would not have been worth more than $6 or $7. The dinner would have equated to a meal to about $60 or $70 minimum in the United States.

Easily over 100 pounds in the obnoxiously priced regions of London.

Our group of course would not oblige. I was informed that in Thailand there is always a “big tourist group discount”. We proceeded to negotiate.

Some of the seats for our Thai massage

The final price would be the staggering amount of $2.20 for a full one hour massage. I simply could not oblige to such an outlandish high quote for a massage.

I was tired and contemplating I hope I don’t snore. That loud.

What ensued actually was extremely interesting. The way they provide the Thai massages are with their entire body. They leverage their own body weight with certain movements in order to provide enough pressure to the body.

While on one’s stomach the woman sits down on the lower back with her face facing towards our feet and the process begins.

In the end the Thai massage was extremely relaxing. I did fall asleep several times but was regrettably informed that did not snore and another member of our group took the snoring crown.

I wasn’t offered a happy ending either which I was very happy about. One thing I learned about my time massage is that they should market how relaxing they are and not just a happy endings. Also, men don’t snore during the massage, it really isn’t cute.

This is a guest post by Honcho Extreme, the winner of the Jordan contest!

———————————–

Bedouin Whiskey and Fairytales: Jordan. Just let that sink in for a moment. “Sounds like a scam to me… if it was so easy everyone would do it… lifestyles like that only exist in fairytales…”

Even my optimistic friends were pessimistic as I shared the recent news of winning a contest with an inclusive all expenses paid to Jordan. The contest also included a 1 year free training program with the Marcello’s day trading eduction program, I was quite excited since The Day Trading Academy reviews are nothing but exceptional.

My persistent entries were noticed out of thousands of hopefuls. I admit, even I had a hard time comprehending that I would be leaving shortly for an exclusive, all expense paid trip to the Middle East with sponsorship from the Jordan Tourism Board, to learn day trading techniques from the company’s president, Marcello Arrambide.

While it seemed unbelievable, the thought of the trip couldn’t compare to the experience as it still seems surreal in hindsight.

Walking away from the trip I want to share the three things I learned: Marcello’s lifestyle does exist the way its portrayed on his travel blogs, day trading is a viable source of income and can be a promising career, and lastly that Jordan is a wonderful tourist destination.

Living the fairytale! Sharing “Bedouin Whiskey” in a Wadi Rum desert encampment

The man, myth, and legend. I first met Marcello in Africa as we were swimming across the Zambezi River from Livingstone Island before a brave leap into Victoria Fall’s “Devil’s Pool” on the same morning.

Through small talk I was introduced to day trading and the lifestyle it afforded him to live, I was interested, unfortunately at the time he had not yet created his Day Trading Academy.

Fast forward two years, the chance to win a trip to Jordan and learn how to day trade showed up in my Facebook news feed after an update on Academy’s Facebook page and I immediately began submitting for the opportunity.

In the last two years I had followed Marcello’s wandering trader blog while he traveled over four continents and through dozens of countries, earning a living from his laptop, while I was enviously saving vacation days to do the things I wanted. The daily market recaps on the day trading academy’s webpage showed some insight on how it was possible and while most of the verbiage was a foreign language but the disclosure of profits made in hard currency made perfect sense to me.

Devil’s Pool in Zambia

Ticks, points, and futures, oh my!

Marcello opened his online academy while living in Ethiopia a few months after we met and for a while, I was as pessimistic as my friends, even after and I began watching his strategy being traded live online.

Fear of the unknown and risk aversion concerning security, in my opinion, is what keeps the corporate world gainfully employed while we work for someone else instead of pursuing the interests we have; fortunately for me, all doubt of whether or not day trading is a viable source of income has vanished after this trip.

Once I received login credentials for my free year of training I began reading the curriculum’s chapters, watching the video tutorials and practicing market strategy exercises all of the puzzle pieces began to fall into place on how it exactly works. I will write about my experience with the learning to day trade project in other articles as I chronicle my transition from paper trading to the live market to establish myself into a position that trading and traveling become one seamless commitment.

This blog entry isn’t about day trading, it is about my magic carpet ride to the Middle East, an unforgettable experience that day trading has provided.

Petra’s Treasury, one of the Seven Wonders of the “Ancient World”

The Middle East, is it even safe? Jordan has completely reshaped my opinion on travel in an area that many of us “westerners” view as unstable and potentially dangerous.

The Hashemite Kingdom however disproved any uncertainty as my week of exploration of ancient ruins, modest villages, and major cities set it apart as one of the most welcoming and tourist oriented countries I have ever received a passport stamp from.

The culture of this Jordan is rich and its inhabitants colorful as the area is one of the oldest inhabited civilizations in the world, with cities dating back to 7000 BCE, and continues to play its part as major route for land and sea trading hub for thousands of years.

The Jordan Tourism Development Project (Siyaha), with assistance from USAID, has created an international tourist destination to promote while preserving the historic and natural treasures of the country ranging from the reconstruction of mountain villages from rubble at Dana Nature Preserve, the world famous tombs and architecture in Petra, to the lunar landscapes of the Wadi Rum region made famous during the Arab Revolt.

Tower Hotel with modern rooms on the mountaintops overlooking Dana Nature Preserve.

Since there is so much to cover from the recent holiday provided by TheDayTradingAcademy and Wandering Trader please check back soon for updates on my experience with the Jordan Tourism Board.

They allowed opportunities to view their diamond in the rough as well as exploits such as racing Marcello and his cheating donkey up narrow cliff side trails to scuba diving in the Red Sea with a view of four countries and two continents.
