<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Best time to visit</h2>

<p>The best time to avoid the nasty weather and crowds is in May, September and October. Peak season is during the summer months of June, July and August. December, January and February are the wet months.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Planning 1 week in Ireland </h2>

<p>When I set out to plan this vacation I had 2 things in mind. See as much as I can and visit the area my family came from. Ireland is stunning and has so much to offer. 1 week was truly no enough time to explore everything. However, if you are pressed for vacation time as I was, here is a great way to get a bit of what Ireland is truly about.</p>

<p><a href="https://youtu.be/przrL-bbmzk?si=tMYZ5-zdJwFPt0rZ" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Video on your 1 week guide to Ireland</a></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Visiting the North, South, East and West </h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Brown-Minimalist-Food-Channel-Blog-Banner-1024x576.png" alt="Brown Minimalist Food Channel Blog Banner" class="wp-image-10417" title="How to spend 1 week in Ireland 2" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Brown-Minimalist-Food-Channel-Blog-Banner-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Brown-Minimalist-Food-Channel-Blog-Banner-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Brown-Minimalist-Food-Channel-Blog-Banner-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Brown-Minimalist-Food-Channel-Blog-Banner.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>I wanted to get a feel for all parts of Ireland, since just a 2 hour drive the scenery changes so much. We started in the East as we arrived in Dublin</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Dublin</h2>

<p>This is most likely where you will fly into as Dublin is the capital and heart of Ireland. We spent our first 2 nights here. Dublin is great for getting around, no need to rent a car. Here are some of the places that are a must visit. If you are short on time I would highly suggest getting on a hop on hop off bus. </p>

<p><a href="https://youtu.be/zPpfvmtq8j8?si=4lBf4eqZSxhgvqHB" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Video on your guide to Dublin</a></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Dublin-1024x576.png" alt="Dublin" class="wp-image-10418" title="How to spend 1 week in Ireland 3" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Dublin-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Dublin-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Dublin-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Dublin.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Famine memorial</li>

<li>Jeanie Johnston</li>

<li>Book of Kells at Trinity College</li>

<li>Molly Malone statue</li>

<li>Dublin Castle</li>

<li>Christchurch Cathedral</li>

<li>St Patrick&#8217;s Cathedral</li>

<li>Guinness Storehouse</li>

<li>Dublin Zoo</li>

<li>Temple Bar</li>

<li>City Hall</li>

<li>Jameson Distillery</li>
</ul>

<p>You can see all these on the Hop on Hop off tour, although you won&#8217;t get to see all in one day, I suggest getting a 2 day pass and take your time at each.</p>

<p>You will need to book these before hand as it is possible they will sell out, especially during high season. Guinness Storehouse, Book of Kells, and Jameson Distillery.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Head South to Cork</h2>

<p>Next up was a great scenic train ride down to Cork. This is where some of my family came from back in the day so I was pretty excited to see it. <a href="https://youtu.be/jdH8P1KsbmE?si=RXr0ZWxY6wAYT04n" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Video on Cork</a></p>

<p>Now, before we start with anything here are some tips you should know before get here. Those who drink, Guinness is Dublin but Beamish is Cork! I will be honest, I enjoyed Beamish over Guinness, sorry my Irish friends. Cork has a hop on and off bus but you really don&#8217;t need it, unless you are not a fan of walking. You don&#8217;t need to do a tour to Blarney Castle, there is a bus that leaves the city and only cost less than 3 Euro.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top things not to miss in Cork</h2>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>English Market</li>

<li>Elizabeth Fort</li>

<li>Saint Fin Barres Cathedral</li>

<li>Cork City Gaol</li>

<li>National Monument</li>

<li>Blarney Castle</li>
</ul>

<p>We spent 2 nights in Cork. The first day you will want to check out the English Market, and go to the Cork City Gaol. The second way will be spent at Blarney Castle. The grounds here are so big and you won&#8217;t get to explore all of it in one day but you will get to see a lot of it and don&#8217;t forget to climb the tower and kiss the Blarney Stone. The last morning you can visit Elizabeth Fort, the National monument and Saint Fin Barres Cathedral.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Head back to Dublin</h2>

<p>Time to get back on the train and head back to Dublin. From here you will do 2, full day tours.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cliffs of Moher and Galway</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Cliffs-1024x576.png" alt="Cliffs" class="wp-image-10419" title="How to spend 1 week in Ireland 4" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Cliffs-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Cliffs-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Cliffs-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Cliffs.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p> We went with Wild Rover tours for our first day tour. This tour took us out to Cliffs of Moher and Galway. The reason I went with the tour group was they guarantee 2 full hours at both the cliffs and Galway. </p>

<p>Tips for this tour. Raincoat/Windbreaker, you will thank me later. At the cliffs it is windy and might even rain, shocking I know. Leave some time to do the Cliffs of Moher Experience. This is a 3D look above and below the cliffs. The views from the Tower are gorgeous and worth a 5 or minute wait in the line.<a href="https://youtu.be/wLJSzn8DYEI?si=MClGb-C-cUAuzuM2" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Check out my video on here</a></p>

<p>In Galway you can do the walking tour with Wild Rover or do your own walk. We opted for our own because I was on a mission to get a sweater. If you don&#8217;t already know this is where the famous Aran sweaters are made. I suggest if you are planning to get it is here at the Sweater Shop on Abbeygate Street. If you are doing your own walk, here are some spots to check out. Shop Street is filled with shops and restaurants. The street is closed to cars and is a great stroll. Then make your way to the Spanish Arch, Saint Nicholas Church and finish with a coffee at the port. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"> Head to Northern Ireland</h2>

<p>The next and last of this trip is a tour to Northern Ireland. However, once again let&#8217;s go over some tips before you head to the north.</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>They use the English Pound not Euros.</li>

<li>They use miles not kilometers</li>

<li>There is no border crossing. Really, if you blink you will miss the sign.</li>

<li>Some still believe in the old ways, so leave politics at home. Mind your manners</li>
</ul>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Cliffs-1024x576.png" alt="Cliffs" class="wp-image-10442" title="How to spend 1 week in Ireland 5" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Cliffs-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Cliffs-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Cliffs-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Cliffs.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>So lets get to the good part. Northern Ireland landscape is very similar to that of the south. However it has its own charm. We decided to once again take a tour. My main goal was to see as mush as possible in a day. We booked the Giants Causeway and Belfast with Paddywagon Tours. The reason was they had one stop that I really wanted to see, we will get to that shortly.</p>

<p>First stop was the amazing Dunluce Castle. If you are a Game of Thrones fan this will be a great tour for you. I haven&#8217;t seen the show aside from a few episodes in season 1, but after visiting here I may just need to watch it. </p>

<p>Next stop was the Giants Causeway. This was a very interesting spot. The tales behind how it was made is one for a good story time tea. Before heading there <a href="https://youtu.be/1UFtteN6UyA?si=b8k7ZH_euNkNJqpl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">check out my video</a>.</p>

<p>Next up was a pit stop for lunch in a quaint little village Ballintoy. Here you can get some grub or grab a coffee and go for a stroll.</p>

<p>After a much needed caffeine break it was off to my favourite stop, The Dark Hedges. Another spot for those who love the Game of Thrones. This is a fast stop, so my advice, speed walk to get there.</p>

<p>Lastly we end in Belfast. Here you will send a couple of hours wondering this amazing city. You can also catch a black cab tour and learn about the very turbulent history of Northern Ireland.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"> Final Thoughts</h2>

<p>I loved Ireland, and Northern Ireland. The people are amazing and honest. The scenery around Ireland is stunning, so it&#8217;s best not to stick to just one area. Irelands transportation is incredible, trains, buses and taxi&#8217;s. This is a place I will one day come back to as a Euro Tour as there is so much more I want to see.</p>

<p>Traveling as a family or group of friends? I would suggest renting a home. The hotel rooms are on the smaller size and can feel crowded. Solo traveling? There are great hostels around the cities and the staff are lovely. At no point did we feel unsafe walking around at night, although there are some areas to avoid and would suggest sticking to the main streets in Dublin. Like every big city, you will have your crime.</p>

<p>Tours are reasonable priced for those who like me don&#8217;t want to rent a car. Make sure you read your reviews. And I highly suggest both companies that we used.</p>

<p>Final tip; make the most of the time you have there and don&#8217;t forget to meat some locals. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Where is Machu Picchu</h2>

<p>Machu Picchu is one of the 7 Wonders of the World and is located in the Andes mountains of Peru. Built around the mid 15th century these stunning ruins bring visitors by the millions from around the world. Here is where you will find the Machu Picchu circuits. </p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-3c5a1436"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Did Machu Picchu change their circuits again in 2024?</h2></div>

<p>Yes, Machu Picchu has changed their circuits again. We had visited in May 2024 and at that time they only had 4. Now, you can choose from 10. I will be honest, I think this will do so much more to help preserve this site. However, with that being said, you will now have to choose 2 or more if you want to see everything.</p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-c8afdd31"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Here is a breakdown of the circuits</h2></div>

<p>I&#8217;m going to explain each circuit and at the end I will tell you which ones I think are the best for your buck. There are 10 circuits within 3 groups. Group 1 gives you access to the upper terrace. Group 2 gives you a portion of the upper and a portion of the lower. Group 3 is primarily the lower. Each of these groups have routes and I&#8217;m going to explain each one below. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Circuit 1A Machu Picchu Mountain Route</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1a-1024x576.png" alt="c1a" class="wp-image-10383" style="width:920px;height:auto" title="Machu Picchu Circuits 2025 7" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1a-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1a-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1a-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1a.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>With this circuit you will get the classic photo over looking the citadel. This as includes the hike up Machu Picchu Mountain. You do not get to venture into the urban area below.</p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-8efbd131"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Circuit 1B Upper Terrace Route</h2></div>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1b-1024x576.png" alt="c1b" class="wp-image-10384" title="Machu Picchu Circuits 2025 8" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1b-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1b-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1b-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1b.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>This is <strong>not </strong>a circuit I would recommend. You get the classic photo op and that is it. This is for people who are just here for that Instagram photo. Yes, you will get to look at the citadel but that is all.</p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-2c0061cb"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Circuit 1C Ruta Portada Intipunku (Sun gate Route)</h2></div>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1c-1024x576.png" alt="c1c" class="wp-image-10385" title="Machu Picchu Circuits 2025 9" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1c-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1c-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1c-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1c.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>I wish they had this route when we went to visit. I would have loved to do this hike. The Sun Gate is where those who do the Inka trail will arrive. The views from here are amazing. You also get access to the upper terrace.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Circuit 1D Inka Bridge Route</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1d-1024x576.png" alt="c1d" class="wp-image-10386" title="Machu Picchu Circuits 2025 10" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1d-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1d-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1d-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c1d.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>This is a route I would recommend. The trail to the Inka Bridge was amazing with stunning views. We did this with a guide and it was amazing to hear the history of this spot. You also get the iconic photo on the upper terrace.</p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-58fc96c4"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Circuit 2A Classic Route Designed</h2></div>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c2a-1-1024x576.png" alt="c2a 1" class="wp-image-10388" title="Machu Picchu Circuits 2025 11" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c2a-1-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c2a-1-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c2a-1-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c2a-1.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>This is probably the only one that is closest to the old versions. This one here gives you the postcard picture on the upper terrace as well as access to the citadel. You will see most of the urban area as well as Temple of Condor which I really loved.</p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-aa5cd200"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Circuit 2B Lower Terrace Route</h2></div>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c2b-1024x576.png" alt="c2b" class="wp-image-10389" title="Machu Picchu Circuits 2025 12" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c2b-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c2b-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c2b-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c2b.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>This is similar to 2A. The only big difference is the area to which you take the picture from the terrace. The picture above is what you will get, and to honest, I think it&#8217;s a much nicer picture. You will get the overview of the citadel as get to venture into as well.</p>

<h2 class="gb-headline gb-headline-eaf1f5c3 gb-headline-text">Circuit 3A Wayna Picchu Mountain</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3a-1024x576.png" alt="c3a" class="wp-image-10392" style="width:920px;height:auto" title="Machu Picchu Circuits 2025 13" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3a-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3a-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3a-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3a.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>This circuit will not allow you to take the famous postcard picture but you will get amazing views from the top of Wayna Picchu Mountain. This is not the trail for those afraid of heights. It&#8217;s also known as Huayna Picchu Mountain. Before you book your ticket make sure to watch a video of this hike. I couldn&#8217;t do it so I went with the baby mountain instead.</p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-fe320f2d"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Circuit 3B Royale Designed Route</h2></div>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3b-1024x576.png" alt="c3b" class="wp-image-10393" style="width:920px;height:auto" title="Machu Picchu Circuits 2025 14" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3b-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3b-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3b-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3b.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>This is a route if you just want a glimpse at the site. I would say this is for those with mobility issues or those with no time. You will only get to see a portion of the lower terrace. In my opinion, it&#8217;s not worth the money.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Circuit 3C Great Cavern Route </h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3c-1024x576.png" alt="c3c" class="wp-image-10394" title="Machu Picchu Circuits 2025 15" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3c-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3c-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3c-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3c-1536x864.png 1536w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3c-2048x1152.png 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>This was not an option for us when we went. From what I can see this is something you would stop at if going up Wayna Picchu Mountain. This is something I would definitely want to check out if and when I return. You will also get a good portion of the lower terrace. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Circuit 3D Huchuy Picchu Mountain</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3D-1024x576.png" alt="c3D" class="wp-image-10395" style="width:920px;height:auto" title="Machu Picchu Circuits 2025 16" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3D-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3D-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3D-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/c3D.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>This was another hike we took here on our second day. There are no words for this view. You will get to wonder the lower terrace and climb the baby mountain. Don&#8217;t let baby mountain confuse you, this is still a scary hike, at least for me. I&#8217;m not a fan of heights and yes, I did cry a little when I got to the top. I was so proud of myself and the views here were worth every tear. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What trail is best for you?</h2>

<p>This is just my opinion and it will truly depend on what you came to see. Now that the circuits have changed, it will be hard to see the whole place without going on 2 or 3. I think the following 2 are the best to get a really good experience. </p>

<p>If you can do 2 while visiting Machu Picchu. For the upper view I would pick either 1A or 1D. These will give you the iconic postcard picture and a great hike. To explore the lower area I would suggest 3A, 3C or 3D. which will give you great views from a different angle.</p>

<p>If you only have one day I would suggest 2A or 2B. These both will give you a great photo overlooking the Citadel and you will get to explore the main area. </p>

<p>If you are stuck for time or mobility I would suggest 1B for the photo op and 3B if you want to explore the lower area and are not able to move around as easily.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Things to know before you go.</h2>

<p>Plan ahead &#8211; If you are wanting to see everything Machu Picchu has to offer you will want to book 2 circuits. Get one that explores the upper portion and one for the bottom.</p>

<p>Book it months in advance &#8211; Do not wait till last minute or your trip might be for nothing. I would suggest booking 6 &#8211; 8 months in advance during busy season. </p>

<p>Bring a raincoat &#8211; Be prepared for rain. January, February, March, October, November and December are rainy season. Even during dry season you could see some showers during the day. Umbrellas are not allowed.</p>

<p>Selfie sticks &#8211; These are not allowed inside. So if you are travelling alone, just politely ask someone to take that amazing shot. </p>

<p>Large bags &#8211; You are only able to bring a small backpack. They do have lockers for those travelling with large bags or luggage. </p>

<p>Food &#8211; You are not supposed to bring food in. Although we did see people eating inside, picnic like, they will ask you to leave. Please make sure to bring your garbage out with you.</p>

<p>Water &#8211; it is humid and you will be walking a lot. Make sure to bring lots of water with you.</p>

<p>Sunscreen &#8211; Be prepared when it&#8217;s not raining to put on some sunblock. </p>

<p>Altitude sickness &#8211; you are 7972 feet, 2430 meters, above sea level. Be aware there is a possibility you could fall ill if you did acclimate correctly.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Final thoughts</h2>

<p>I loved it here and would love to do the Inca trail one day. Machu Picchu is one of the 7 wonders of the world for a reason, it&#8217;s a beauty!</p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-ad6f17d7"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Where is Cusco, Peru?</h2></div>

<p>Cusco is located in the Southeastern part of Peru. This is the hub for those looking to travel to Machu Picchu. Cusco sits 11,152 feet or 3,399 meters above sea level.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rM_xj0RrrIY" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Check out my video on all things Cusco</a></p>

<h2 class="gb-headline gb-headline-e2e8e3ca gb-headline-text">Altitude sickness</h2>

<p>With Cusco being so high above sea level, if you are not use to this altitude you can get sick. Ways to prevent it are drinking lots of water, taking medication, drinking Cocoa tea or eating the leaves.</p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-3fe40b49"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Where to stay</h2></div>

<p>I was so nervous, as I am every time I travel, about picking the right place. I once again choose the correct and perfect place. Union Boutique Hotel is such a cute place to stay and it&#8217;s in the best location if you are planning to go to Machu Picchu by train.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/UBH-1024x576.png" alt="UBH" class="wp-image-10369" title="Top things to do in Cusco, Peru 18" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/UBH-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/UBH-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/UBH-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/UBH.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-789f16f6"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Things to do in Cusco</h2></div>

<p><strong><em>I want to be very clear here. If you are not use to the altitude you want to make sure you are taking it easy the first day. Don&#8217;t go climbing mountains or you may end up ruining your vacation.</em></strong></p>

<p>The old city is the main area we stayed in as we were only here for 1.5 days. The first day you will want to take it easy and just stroll around town. Here are some places to visit.</p>

<p><strong>San Pedro Market</strong></p>

<p>I have a shopping problem when I go on vacation, it&#8217;s really bad. San Pedro Market was an amazing place to shop and get a look at the local gifts. This is not just for shopping but also to eat, people watch and try out traditional Peruvian foods.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/spm-1024x576.png" alt="spm" class="wp-image-10370" title="Top things to do in Cusco, Peru 19" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/spm-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/spm-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/spm-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/spm-1536x864.png 1536w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/spm-2048x1152.png 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><strong>Tea in the city squares</strong></p>

<p>There is no better way to get use to the high altitude than enjoying a tea, relaxing and sitting back watching the crowds of people exploring the city. The old area is filled with small and big parks, city squares, where you can enjoy the sunset.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/squares-1024x576.png" alt="squares" class="wp-image-10371" title="Top things to do in Cusco, Peru 20" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/squares-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/squares-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/squares-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/squares.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><strong>Exploring Cathedrals </strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Mevor-1024x576.png" alt="Mevor" class="wp-image-10372" title="Top things to do in Cusco, Peru 21" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Mevor-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Mevor-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Mevor-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Mevor.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Now, I&#8217;m not a religious person but I love venturing into churches, temples, well just about anything old. Baslilca Menor de la Merced is one not to miss. You are not allowed to photo or film in the church but you can visit the museum next door and it is worth it.</p>

<p><strong>12 Angled Stones</strong></p>

<p>This spot here is amazing, and if you get here early enough you will avoid the crowds. It is a very popular place to visit so I would suggest making this a first stop in your day.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-1024x576.png" alt="12" class="wp-image-10373" style="width:921px;height:auto" title="Top things to do in Cusco, Peru 22" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><strong>Siete Borrequitos</strong></p>

<p>Another very popular stop is the stunning corner in the city. This is a little hike up so I would suggest doing this on the second day. This is an Instagram stop for a lot of people see be prepared for it to be busy. We were lucky enough to once again avoid the crowds.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-1-1024x576.png" alt="12 1" class="wp-image-10374" style="width:917px;height:auto" title="Top things to do in Cusco, Peru 23" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-1-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-1-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-1-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-1.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><strong>Sapantiana Aqueduct</strong></p>

<p>Just 30 meters away you will find this stunning place. Not a lot of people know about this spot so if Siete Borrequitos is busy just head down here and get some pictures. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-2-1024x576.png" alt="12 2" class="wp-image-10375" title="Top things to do in Cusco, Peru 24" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-2-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-2-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-2-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-2.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Both of the last 2 stops were a bit of a climb to get to. I would suggest just taking your time making your way up and taking lots of breaks.</p>

<p>The next one is something I would only suggest if you have gotten use to the climate as it is much higher and quite the hike.</p>

<p><strong>Saqsaywaman</strong></p>

<p>This was very disappointing as I was really looking forward to visiting here. More frustrated with myself as I didn&#8217;t exchange my money yet and they couldn&#8217;t make up their minds on what to charge us for an entry fee in USD. So we ended up leaving. But, I would suggest getting an entry ticket ahead of time and checking this place out.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-3-1024x576.png" alt="12 3" class="wp-image-10376" title="Top things to do in Cusco, Peru 25" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-3-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-3-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-3-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-3.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The last stop I want to talk about is not in Cusco but is an amazing tour to take from here.</p>

<p><strong>Rainbow Mountain</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-4-1024x576.png" alt="12 4" class="wp-image-10377" title="Top things to do in Cusco, Peru 26" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-4-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-4-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-4-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/12-4.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Oh this place is magical. Now, we did this tour on the 3rd day in Cusco. This was after we spent a couple days at Machu Picchu. Be prepared as it is 17, 060 feet or 5,200 meters above sea level. Here is that place where if you are not prepared or acclimated you will get altitude sickness. We did see a couple people fall victim to this a had to have oxygen. We went with the ATV ride as I&#8217;m not in the greatest of shape to hike it. I was so happy we did it as we got to see a much more beautiful side of this area.</p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-ff307c9f"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Top Tips for Cusco</h2></div>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Exchange your money. Most places do accept USD but converting sometimes you may get ripped off</li>

<li>Plan for altitude sickness. This is no joke and you can ruin your whole vacation by getting it.</li>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Where is Bonaire</h2>

<p>Bonaire is part of the ABC islands, including Aruba and Curacao in the Caribbean. This stunning island is a haven for scuba divers and we will get to more of that later. Today we are going to explore the things to do in Bonaire.</p>

<p>Bonaire is part of the Netherlands and the languages spoken here are Dutch, Papiamentu and English.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top things to do in Bonaire</h2>

<p>I&#8217;m just going to get right to it. I will do a future post on everything you need to know before you visit Bonaire. Bonaire is a small island, 38.6 kilometers (24.0 mi) long from north to south, and ranges from 5–8 km (3–5 mi) wide from east to west. So the first thing you want to do is rent a car.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>A scenic drive around Bonaire</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/carbonaire-1024x576.png" alt="carbonaire" class="wp-image-10344" title="Things to do in Bonaire 28" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/carbonaire-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/carbonaire-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/carbonaire-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/carbonaire-1536x864.png 1536w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/carbonaire-2048x1152.png 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>So before we even begin, you should plan to get a 4&#215;4 vehicle if you are wanting to visit the north end of the island. There are 4 main roads here but anything off them is dirt. One of the best things to do around Bonaire is scenic drive. There is so much this tiny island offers in scenery. So lets start with the south/west. First, the one thing that attracts a lot of visitors is the salt pans. This vibrant pink plain on one side of the road and crystal blue ocean waters on the other. Even on a cloudy day it is not hard to miss.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/salt-pans-1024x576.png" alt="salt pans" class="wp-image-10342" title="Things to do in Bonaire 29" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/salt-pans-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/salt-pans-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/salt-pans-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/salt-pans-1536x864.png 1536w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/salt-pans-2048x1152.png 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>History always has it dark moments and Bonaire was also part of that. Next thing to do in Bonaire is to take a moment and step back in time. Next up, the slave huts. And I have to be honest I didn&#8217;t spend a lot of time at either locations. I love history but this was a lot to absorb. I couldn&#8217;t for a moment imagine what it was like sleeping in here, knowing how hot this island was all year round. During the 1850&#8217;s slaves were here to work the salt pans. This is where they kept their personal belongings and laid there heads after a long days work. It was also a place of punishment for those who broke rules. Just, heartbreaking.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/huts-1024x576.png" alt="huts" class="wp-image-10343" title="Things to do in Bonaire 30" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/huts-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/huts-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/huts-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/huts-1536x864.png 1536w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/huts-2048x1152.png 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Here is where it didn&#8217;t work out for us. Unfortunately, the road was closed after the yellow slave huts, I could only guess it was due to the heavy rain days prior. But just further south you will find a lighthouse and and old bridge. If you are here and the road is open I would suggest visiting.</p>

<p>There are a lot of beaches along the west side and this is where you will go for a swim or the take your underwater adventure. We will get to the Scuba and snorkeling later on.</p>

<p>Time to head to the south/east side of the island. Now there is a stunning coast line but there is one little bay here where you can relax on a sandy beach or take part in some windsurfing. Sorobon beach is really lovely, but you should know. Even with it being a lightly sheltered area you are on the windward (windy) side of the island, hence the wind surfing. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/sorobon-beach-1024x576.png" alt="sorobon beach" class="wp-image-10345" title="Things to do in Bonaire 31" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/sorobon-beach-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/sorobon-beach-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/sorobon-beach-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/sorobon-beach.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>If you are an animal lover such as myself you will love this next stop. Who would want to hang out with some jackasses. The donkey sanctuary is such a welcoming center and they do such a great job taking care of the island donkeys. So just a quick history lesson. Donkeys were brought to the island to work the fields. Once technology excelled, well, there was no use for them so they were just released to roam wild. Which doesn&#8217;t sound terrible until you see, one, how small the island is. And two, how many there were on the island. So as of right now there are over 1200, which 800 are at the sanctuary. They are brought here when they get injured. This is a great place for them to enjoy retirement.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/donkeys-1024x576.png" alt="donkeys" class="wp-image-10346" title="Things to do in Bonaire 32" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/donkeys-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/donkeys-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/donkeys-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/donkeys-1536x864.png 1536w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/donkeys-2048x1152.png 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>As you make your way to the north you will drive into the city of Kralendijk. No, I have no idea how to pronounce this ha ha ha. It is such a cute place and there is so many adorable stores you can shop at or do some window shopping. There is a few waterfront restaurants or cafes you can relax at and enjoy a sunset.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/downtown-1024x576.png" alt="downtown" class="wp-image-10347" title="Things to do in Bonaire 33" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/downtown-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/downtown-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/downtown-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/downtown.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Now this is where the road splits and you can drive up the coast on the west side or make your way east. So to the east you will once again be heading to the windward side of the island and this will take you to the first city of Bonaire, Rincon. If you like interesting alcohol there is a cactus distillery here that you can take a tour on.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/cactus-drink-1024x576.png" alt="cactus drink" class="wp-image-10348" title="Things to do in Bonaire 34" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/cactus-drink-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/cactus-drink-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/cactus-drink-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/cactus-drink-1536x864.png 1536w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/cactus-drink-2048x1152.png 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p> Now for the next stop. Washington Slagbaai National Park. Now, this is where that 4&#215;4 is a must and once again we were left without seeing it. We had come during rainy season and there was a truck that went in and got stuck in the mud. This truck blocked the road so we were sent to the walking trails. I cannot wait to come back and tour this part of the Island. So if the same happens for you the walking trail is a great way to explore this spot. I will warn you though. You must wear proper shoes and also bring lots of water. Sunscreen is also another must as there is no shade along the trail.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/park-1024x576.png" alt="park" class="wp-image-10349" title="Things to do in Bonaire 35" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/park-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/park-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/park-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/park-1536x864.png 1536w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/park-2048x1152.png 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>On the east side is where you will find those amazing diving and snorkeling spots so lets get into that.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Scuba and Snorkel</h2>

<p>Now this is the main reason come to Bonaire and the top of things to do in Bonaire. The reef system around the island is right off shore. There is no need to rent a boat or take a tour just get yourself the gear and head out. We once again, unfortunately, had not the greatest of weather. It was rainy season but it was also very windy. This made snorkeling for me a bit of a challenge. I do not scuba, yet, but the spots are the same for everyone.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/snorkle-1024x576.png" alt="snorkle" class="wp-image-10350" title="Things to do in Bonaire 36" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/snorkle-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/snorkle-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/snorkle-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/snorkle.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Tops spots that I enjoyed snorkeling </strong></h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Salt pier &#8211; was the first place I went to and loved it. I wish it was more calm as I would have stayed longer. There is also a grassy area here, I couldn&#8217;t find it though, where you can see turtles but you need to be very early.</li>

<li>Klein Island &#8211; was so amazing. You start out just a ways up from no name beach, the ferry operator will tell you where to go. Now again it was a windy day making the shore area murky. Swim out a little ways and you will see the wall. This is where I truly fell in love. This amazing sea wall is teaming with fish. You will float your way back to no name beach along the wall. It&#8217;s just incredible.</li>

<li>1000 Steps &#8211; was by far my favorite, but I think that&#8217;s because I seen a couple turtles (which I am obsessed with) and my first octopus. The underwater would here is so amazing. My advice for this spot. Go to the right and make your way up the beach you will get to a set of stairs that are out of use. Go straight out from there. </li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Beach time</h2>

<p>When it comes to things to do in Bonaire, or any vacation, you will think beach. But be warned, there are not many sandy beaches in Bonaire. Actually I think only 4 that I had seen.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/beach-1024x576.png" alt="beach" class="wp-image-10351" title="Things to do in Bonaire 37" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/beach-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/beach-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/beach-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/beach.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>With that being said there is nothing a towel or beach chair cannot fix. The beaches here have some of the most amazing views and pictures do not do it justice. If there is wind, just know that the sand will be picked up and can prick ya a little. </p>

<p>So pick anyone of these beaches, No Name (which is on Klein Island), Navi Beach or Sorobon Beach to dig your toes in the sand and enjoy the sun. Just don&#8217;t forget your sunscreen and make sure it is reef safe.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Water Sports</h2>

<p>Ok, so I will say this. I&#8217;m not big into wind surfing or kite surfing, due to the lack of upper body and core strength. But, Bonaire is famous for it. So if you are looking to try it for the first time or work on your technique, Bonaire is your place.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/kite-1024x576.png" alt="kite" class="wp-image-10352" title="Things to do in Bonaire 38" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/kite-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/kite-300x169.png 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/kite-768x432.png 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/kite.png 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>If you are looking to learn this amazing water sport you can head to this spot in the picture above which is on the north/west side of the island or Sorobon Beach.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">My thoughts</h2>

<p>So I love to end a post with my thoughts of the places I visit. I say it rarely that I would love to visit a place for a second time and Bonaire is on that list. Due to the weather, I missed a lot. I need to go back and check out the National Park. I also really want to go back when the water is not so rough. Snorkeling was not easy and I swallowed a lot of sea water. </p>

<p>With all the being said. Bonaire is an amazing Island and has so much to see. I will get back there again soon *wink wink* until then I leave you with this.</p>

<p>Bonaire is a small Island with amazing people who truly stick to the Island time. They take their time with everything and I can&#8217;t tell you how refreshing it is. You need to relax your shoulders and take a deep breath. There is no rushing here. You are going on vacation, put your toes in the sand, eyes to the sky and take in the sea air. </p>

</div>

<p>This was my first ever luxury vacation. I love to budget travel but this time I needed a little more. There is nothing wrong with treating yourself every once in a while. Heck, if you can afford it, do it all the time.</p>

<p>I had a bit of a rough end to 2022 and start to 2023. I was not in the planning mood, nor was a wanting to drive. So I looked into some tours. What I didn&#8217;t want was to be stuck on a tour bus, so we decided a private tour. Now, was the affordability part. Could I find a less expensive company? Yes I did. To be honest I was shocked at the price and a little worried. Was this company legit?</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What tour company did we use</h2>

<p>After reaching out to 3 other companies I had found Jordan Direct Tours. The communication was amazing to say the least. I heard back from Asra within 24 hours. She sent a full itinerary plus a choice of extras if we wanted them. This is where I was so impressed with them. There were some changes that I requested and right away she sent it back with everything in check.</p>

<p>Now I will say there was a bit of a mix up during the vacation. The hotels had changed from what was originally discussed. As a person who has to have everything organized and know the plan, I was a little thrown off. If you have seen any of my blogs on anxiety you will I need to have control at all times. With this said, I had full trust in the company and our guide. This made this small error (which would have been huge) roll off my shoulders. Esra was very quick to apologize and I will say we lucked out. The hotels were stunning and the service was amazing.</p>

<p>Mowafak was a our guide during our 9 day luxury luxury vacation in Jordan and I couldn&#8217;t be more happy with his knowledge and his experience in this industry. He truly made us feel welcome and respected during our entire time there. He was the highlight of this journey through the stunning country of Jordan.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Where we stayed</h2>

<p>We spent 3 nights in Amman at AlQasr Metropole Hotel. This hotel is located in the financial district of Amman and is a little ways from downtown. It was about a 15 minute drive to the market area. If you are looking for something closer you can always request it.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Metropole-1024x576.jpg" alt="Metropole" class="wp-image-10321" title="9 day luxury vacation in Jordan 40" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Metropole-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Metropole-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Metropole-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Metropole.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>AlQasr Metropole Hotel was a little gem. The rooms were spacious and had amazing views from the balcony. The breakfast was so yummy with so much to choose from. I would suggest the omelet station and the fried cheese.</p>

<p>Next was Wadi Musa. We spent 3 nights here and will say this hotel was amazing. Again, we were a little ways from the town and from Petra but the views at sunset were worth it. Petra Canyon Hotel is newer and it shows. The rooms were very large with great views from the window. The food was incredible and the service was amazing. The hotel is built into the cliff which can be seen from the dining room.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/petra-canyon-1024x576.jpg" alt="petra canyon" class="wp-image-10322" title="9 day luxury vacation in Jordan 41" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/petra-canyon-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/petra-canyon-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/petra-canyon-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/petra-canyon.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Now we did have a couple people that were nothing like the rest but this did not spoil it for us. Ahmed, who is the chef, was such a gem. He was there greeting you at every meal to answer any questions. Abed, who was our server, was a delightful young man. </p>

<p>Next up was Wadi Rum. Now if you have never been here, put it on your bucket list and be sure to add Martian tent to it. We stayed at the Rum Oasis Luxury Camp with the top tent. I will say for here and most of our trip we were treated amazing, like VIP. Here they also serve buffet style but with a exciting twist. They also cook a portion of the meal in a traditional manner. Earth oven! This is where the food is cooked underground. It was amazing and a cute show.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/wadi-rum-1-1024x576.jpg" alt="wadi rum 1" class="wp-image-10323" title="9 day luxury vacation in Jordan 42" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/wadi-rum-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/wadi-rum-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/wadi-rum-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/wadi-rum-1.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Wadi Rum is the red desert that truly looks like Mars. Our tent was very large with stunning views over looking the camp and the desert. It was so refreshing to wake up, make a coffee and watch the sun rise and camels march their way through the red sand. </p>

<p>Lastly was the Dead Sea. Now Movenpick was the most luxurious of them all. Meaning it was super expensive to stay here. I will say this, it was a gorgeous hotel and the service was good. The entrance to the dead sea, which is really what you are there for, was really nice. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/movenpick-1024x576.jpg" alt="movenpick" class="wp-image-10324" title="9 day luxury vacation in Jordan 43" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/movenpick-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/movenpick-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/movenpick-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/movenpick.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>The hotel grounds are very large and great for walking around. There are a lot of pools and lounging areas so you are bound to find a nice area to relax. The food was amazing and there was so much you could choose from. I would suggest the buffet, but I love a good variety in my meals so I will always say that.</p>

<p>The rooms were adorable and had a really nice porch to enjoy your morning coffee on while hearing the beautiful morning doves. </p>

<p>All in all, the hotels were perfect! Again, I don&#8217;t have a lot to compare it to but I will say, each made you feel welcomed and respected. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What daily tours we took</h2>

<p>This was another thing that sold me on Jordan Direct Tours. When you fill out your information request form they ask what you are looking for in a tour. Beach, history, scenery, hiking, etc. My goal, which like most visiting Jordan was the Dead Sea and Petra. There were a few stops that I would have never even thought of and was so happy they including them.</p>

<p>Day 1 when we arrived we got to our hotel and just relaxed while trying to get over our jet leg. When our driver dropped us off he asked what time we wanted to start, we told him whenever. Which again, this was way out of the ordinary for me as a control freak. So he suggested 8am and that&#8217;s what we did.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/aMMAN-1-1024x576.jpg" alt="aMMAN 1" class="wp-image-10328" title="9 day luxury vacation in Jordan 44" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/aMMAN-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/aMMAN-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/aMMAN-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/aMMAN-1.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><a href="https://youtu.be/W3RYcukcEU4" data-type="URL" data-id="https://youtu.be/W3RYcukcEU4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Check the video here</a> of Amman</p>

<p>Day 2 we visited the Citadel which is Roman ruins perched up on a hill with amazing views of the valley. Next up was the Roman Theatre, both of them. There is actually a smaller one next to the large one. Then we walked downtown around the market area. Here our amazing guide Mowafak treated us with Falafels and Kunafa and let me tell you they were amazing. Then we ventured to the city of Salt to check out the Ottoman period. </p>

<p><a href="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/2-perfect-days-in-amman-jordan/">Check out 2 days in Amman</a> Blog</p>

<p>Day 3 we were up early, but not early enough. We visited Ajloun Castle and then made our way to Jerash. Now if you haven&#8217;t already check out that blog as you will see why I say we didn&#8217;t get up early enough. Both of the wonders were stunning and a must if you are visiting Jordan.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/1-1024x576.jpg" alt="1" class="wp-image-10329" title="9 day luxury vacation in Jordan 45" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/1.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><a href="https://youtu.be/FQfO3VBBxpg" data-type="URL" data-id="https://youtu.be/FQfO3VBBxpg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Check out the video on Aljoun here</a></p>

<p>Day 4 we made our way to Wadi Musa. On the way we made a few stops. First was Madaba for a quick visit to a church. Next up was Mount Nebo which was a spectacular place. Then we made our way to Shobak Castle which lies in heavy ruins but still amazing to see. We also made a little stop at the small hotel in the world and it was such a delight. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/4-1024x576.jpg" alt="4" class="wp-image-10330" title="9 day luxury vacation in Jordan 46" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/4-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/4-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/4-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/4.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><a href="https://youtu.be/WiGGj724STE" data-type="URL" data-id="https://youtu.be/WiGGj724STE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Check out the adventure video from here and Petra</a></p>

<p>Day 5 and 6 we finally we made it to Petra. This was one place I was really looking forward to visiting so we decided to do 2 full days here. Our first day we had a guide as part of our luxury vacation and he was truly a gem. His knowledge was incredible and was so great at taking pictures and even video.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/5-1024x576.jpg" alt="5" class="wp-image-10331" title="9 day luxury vacation in Jordan 47" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/5-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/5-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/5-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/5.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><a href="https://youtu.be/WiGGj724STE" data-type="URL" data-id="https://youtu.be/WiGGj724STE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Check out the video of Petra here</a>.</p>

<p>I really enjoyed the pace we were able to keep knowing we had 2 full days here. There was no rushing and we still had enough energy to see Petra at Night. Now this was an extra that you could pick from. Although I wasn&#8217;t a big fan of the show I would suggest going to see it as it was still nice to see Petra during the night hours.</p>

<p>Day 7 was off to the red desert of <a href="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wadi-rum-a-tour-through-the-desert/" data-type="URL" data-id="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wadi-rum-a-tour-through-the-desert/">Wadi Rum</a>. We arrived around 2 and met with our guide Awwad, again another guided tour as part of our package. Awwad was a great tour guide as he drove us around in his Toyota pickup through the desert. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2-1024x576.jpg" alt="2" class="wp-image-10332" title="9 day luxury vacation in Jordan 48" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><a href="https://youtu.be/tqEymuQLaB8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Check out our adventure in Wadi Rum </a></p>

<p>I&#8217;m sure all guides make note of how to use every kind of camera and know every place to grab that amazing picture and Awwad did not disappoint. This was by far my favorite tour during our whole time in Jordan. I fell in love with the desert, the Bedouin people and their tea. </p>

<p>We also did another extra while in Wadi Rum and that was the stargazing tour. Now, this was a fun and entertaining tour. However, if you are not afraid of heights like me, I would suggest doing the hot air balloon.</p>

<p>Day 8 we made the long journey to the <a href="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/your-guide-to-the-dead-sea-jordan/">Dead Sea</a>. This is about a 6 hour drive with a few stops along the way. When we got to the hotel we made ourselves comfy and hit poolside. We saved our dip into the Dead Sea till the next day. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/3-1024x576.jpg" alt="3" class="wp-image-10333" title="9 day luxury vacation in Jordan 49" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/3-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/3-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/3-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/3.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><a href="https://youtu.be/M5YBtHIlQBE" data-type="URL" data-id="https://youtu.be/M5YBtHIlQBE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Check out how NOT to float in the Dead Sea</a></p>

<p>Day 9 was our time to float, or like me struggle to float, in the Dead Sea. This was the perfect way to end our vacation. We relaxed poolside most of the day, enjoyed a lunch and some drinks and just sat there thinking back on the past 9 days,</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is included </h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Included</h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Hotel</li>

<li>Entrance to sites</li>

<li>Tours that are listed in itinerary</li>

<li>Car and guide throughout your stay </li>

<li>Breakfast and meals which are noted in itinerary</li>

<li>Guided tour at sites stated in itinerary</li>

<li>Visa and meet and greet at airport </li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Final thought</h2>

<p>There is no denying I loved working and traveling with this company. They were so professional and well organized. We paid less than 1800.00 USD each for everything I have told you about. I never thought I would find this type of service for this price and was blown away. </p>

<p>Mowafak has over 25 years experience in the business and is an amazing representative not only for Jordan Direct Tours but for the country as a whole. </p>

<p>If you are sitting there thinking that you can&#8217;t do this I promise you can and you should. Jordan is a beautiful country with amazing and friendly people. Don&#8217;t wait on this trip, as you know, there may not be a Dead Sea for too much longer. Get up and go!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Where to explore the Dead Sea</h2>

<p>We will start this guide to the Dead Sea in Jordan. There are 2 other countries you can visit the Dead Sea from and those are West Bank and Israel. This was our last stop on our luxury vacation and it was truly beautiful.</p>

<p>There are 3 ways you can visit the Dead Sea in Jordan. Not everyone can afford to luxury hotel but everyone should have this experience. What I loved about Jordan was there is something here for all levels of affordability. Yes, Jordan is a very expensive country but there are so many things for every budget. </p>

<p>A free beach for those who just want to pull off and experience the weightlessness. The free beach is just a beach. You will not get the mud or a fresh shower after, but it is still an amazing time. There is also the Beach. Both of these can be found on google maps. You will want to make sure you have proper shoes as both of these areas a very rocky.</p>

<p>Next is Amman Beach which is about 20 JD at this time of posting. Here you will have both the mud and a fresh shower to rinse off. There are lawn chairs and a pool that you can use. The reviews are mixed on this but for short day visit I would think it&#8217;s ok.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/amman-1024x576.jpg" alt="amman" class="wp-image-10307" title="Your guide to the Dead Sea, Jordan 52" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/amman-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/amman-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/amman-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/amman.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The third option, a hotel either for a day pass or overnight. As part of our tour we stayed at Movenpick, which is really luxurious. This resort is stunning and I would recommend it even just for a day pass. The amenities will you have access to are the pools, bar, restaurants and spa. The change room is very clean, I didn&#8217;t take pictures but they are really nice. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/mova-beach-1024x576.jpg" alt="mova beach" class="wp-image-10314" title="Your guide to the Dead Sea, Jordan 53" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/mova-beach-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/mova-beach-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/mova-beach-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/mova-beach.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>The reason, as a woman, that I would choose a day pass at a hotel is if you are planning to wear a western swimsuit. We never had any issues with locals, however, I have seen in reviews that women have, at times, been made to feel uncomfortable on public beaches.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tips for the ladies</h2>

<p>If you are visiting a public beach, as I said before, there can be some uncomfortable looking. Also DO NOT SHAVE! Shave the night before, or be prepared to feel the burn. As you know by this point the salt content is high and fresh silky legs and underarms will feel it.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">History of the Dead Sea</h2>

<p>Learning the history of places is something I really enjoy. I really loved how the Dead Sea came about. How it became a lake is incredible. The land surrounding it rose so much that the ocean could no longer reach it. The Dead Sea has a salinity of about 34%, which is not the highest in the world but most likely the only spot that is easy to reach. The highest is in Antarctica. Unfortunately, it&#8217;s disappearing, see below on that. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The 3 steps to experiencing the Dead Sea</h2>

<p>We had a great tour guide who gave us the full rundown how how to get the best experience. It was confirmed when we overheard the lifeguard explaining it to another guest. If you follow the next 3 steps you will get the true experience of the Dead Sea.</p>

<p>Soak &#8211; The first thing you want to do is make your way into the water. Soak it all up and lift your feet. Now, I&#8217;m not going to lie, I did struggle with floating which you can see in my video <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5YBtHIlQBE&amp;t=27s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">HOW NOT TO FLOAT IN THE DEAD SEA. </a> If you take the advice from Jodi, the best way to do it is, hold out your arms and sit and let your feet rise up. This is how I managed to do it but still for some reason could not keep myself afloat. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/float-1024x576.jpg" alt="float" class="wp-image-10308" title="Your guide to the Dead Sea, Jordan 54" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/float-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/float-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/float-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/float.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Mud &#8211; after about 20 mins you will want to come out and get muddy. Rub it all over your body, avoid the eye area. (If you get the salt water in your eyes it will burn for about 15 minutes) sit in the sun for about 15- 20 minutes letting the mud harden. You will notice the oils from the Dead Sea will be on your skin and some areas may not harden.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/mud-1024x576.jpg" alt="mud" class="wp-image-10309" title="Your guide to the Dead Sea, Jordan 55" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/mud-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/mud-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/mud-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/mud.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Rinse &#8211; Time to get back into the sea. Rinse it off and relax for a bit longer. I wouldn&#8217;t suggest being in here for too long as your sunscreen is now gone and you will get burnt. Again be mindful to avoid your eyes and mouth, check out my video to have a good laugh.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rinse-1024x576.jpg" alt="rinse" class="wp-image-10310" title="Your guide to the Dead Sea, Jordan 56" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rinse-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rinse-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rinse-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rinse.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Tip: Our driver told us I failed because you have to be <strong>relaxed</strong>. I know now because I was filming our experience that I was not relaxed enough. I guess this means I will need to return and try it again, without my lens.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why you need to go soon</h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/drying-up-1024x576.jpg" alt="drying up" class="wp-image-10311" title="Your guide to the Dead Sea, Jordan 57" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/drying-up-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/drying-up-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/drying-up-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/drying-up.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>So what you may not know is that the Dead Sea is drying up. It is said by 2050 it will disappear. This again is heart breaking and due to climate change this amazing body of water will be gone. As we made our way to our hotel our driver stopped and showed us where the Dead Sea was at one point. It is sad to see so much of it already gone. That is another thing I love about travel, seeing places that may no longer exist in the future and why I love sharing my experiences. Not everyone has the luxury to travel but I hope that people can experience it through me.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The lowest place on Earth</h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/lowest-1024x576.jpg" alt="lowest" class="wp-image-10312" title="Your guide to the Dead Sea, Jordan 58" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/lowest-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/lowest-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/lowest-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/lowest.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Another thing our driver told us about this spot, is the air (oxygen) is much higher. Meaning you can run here much longer, not that I was going to test that ha ha ha. We did however notice this while walking the stairs of our hotel. Being 460 meters below sea level is really interesting. I found my legs were not cramping as much and I had so much more energy.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Buying the products</h2>

<p>Now I&#8217;m not going to lie I bought the product, but did so at the airport and it was for my mom and dad. I loved the feeling on my skin and how my body felt after getting out so I thought I would bring it home for them to try. They haven&#8217;t used it yet but will update you on it once they do.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Final Thoughts</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/final-sea-1024x576.jpg" alt="final sea" class="wp-image-10315" title="Your guide to the Dead Sea, Jordan 59" srcset="https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/final-sea-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/final-sea-300x169.jpg 300w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/final-sea-768x432.jpg 768w, https://wanderingtravelerblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/final-sea.jpg 1120w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>This was the perfect way to end our time in Jordan. Poolside and soaking up the sea is a great way to relax yourself before you get back to reality. </p>

<p>The Dead Sea won&#8217;t be there for much longer and if this is a bucket list experience for you I would book it now and don&#8217;t keep putting it off. </p>

<p>I can&#8217;t express enough the amazing feeling I had getting out of the Dead Sea. The oils on my skin, the relaxation of my muscles, it was so worth it. </p>

<p>Even though I struggled with floating, I had an amazing time. Can&#8217;t float? Just make the most of it, soak it all in, before it&#8217;s gone.</p>
