Unfortunately for us, BBC does not allow users outside the UK to watch these shows. Luckily there’s a way around this. There are many sites recommending different software to use, but having tried many ways, this is the one I’ve found that works using Windows and Firefox: (note, you can also use instructions below to watch other content blocked from viewing within the US, or even to watch content only allowed in the US when you are abroad)</p> <p> <span id="more-28"></span> </p><p><strong>Step 1</strong>: <a href="https://www.torproject.org/download.html.en" target="_blank">Download and install the latest stable release of Tor</a> using the default options. You can uncheck Privoxy in the install if you like. We will be using another proxy tool. (Tor is a tool that allows you to browse the web anonymously by routing your requests through various servers/proxies) </p> <p><strong>Step 2</strong>: We now need to ensure that the last server your request is routed through is a server in the UK. Go to <a href="https://torstat.xenobite.eu/" target="_blank">https://torstat.xenobite.eu/</a>. Click on the pulldown next to "CC:" and select "GB" and hit "search". Now click on the ">" under "Exit". You now have a list of servers in the UK that are allowed to be used as Exit Servers. Take note of all the nicknames of the servers except those marked Unnamed. </p> <p><strong>Step 3</strong>: Go to Start Menu and open All Programs -> Vidalia Bundle -> Tor -> torcc. This will open the Tor config file. Scroll all the way to the bottom and enter the following lines:<br />StrictExitNodes 1<br />exitnodes <list><br />An example of the second line above would be:<br />exitnodes anonion,anotherlink,colinwillsdorkyahoo<br />Save the file and exit notepad. </p> <p><strong>Step 4</strong>: Run Vidalia. After a few seconds, it should say "Connected to the Tor Network". </p> <p><strong>Step 5</strong>: Install the <a href="http://foxyproxy.mozdev.org/downloads.html" target="_blank">Foxy Proxy</a> addon for Firefox.</p> <p><strong>Step 6</strong>: When you install Foxy Proxy, it’ll ask you if you want to add a Tor proxy to it’s settings. You’ll want to set up the Tor Proxy to have the following 2 patterns: BBC iPlayer pattern – http://*bbc.co.uk/* and Tor Check pattern – http://torcheck.xenobite.eu/*</p> <p><strong>Step 7</strong>: Check that you’re exiting through a UK server by going to <a title="http://torcheck.xenobite.eu/index.php" href="http://torcheck.xenobite.eu/index.php">http://torcheck.xenobite.eu/index.php</a></p> <p>There you go – now, when you have Vidalia and Foxy Proxy running, whenever you go to the iPlayer site, you’ll be able to watch videos. But once Elena and Rose arrive at his place, they see he's been killed. Using his ex-girlfriend to help, the ladies hack into Slater's computer and see he's been emailing someone named Cody often. Elena sends a message to Cody, pretending to be Slater and it says that the Doppleganger wants to turn herself in to Klaus.</p> <p>That's her plan. Elena wants to sacrifice herself in order to save those she loves.</p> <p>Of course, once Rose learns this, she calls Damon and says he needs to get to Richmond. He flees the scene of the tomb and heads over there. He's NOT happy about Elena's plan and becomes even less happy when Elijah shows up. He discovered Elena's locale through the help of Jonas, who used a special spell to track her down.</p> <p>But Elijah spares Damon's life because he realizes Elena is safe when around the Salvatores.</p> <p>Back in the tomb, Stefan and Bonnie run into a problem: Jeremy is being used as a snack by Katherine. He had tried to be a hero and get the moonstone himself, succeeding in tossing it outside the tomb, but being caught in the process. Bonnie tries to lift the trapping spell, but passes out from the attempt.</p> <p>Still, Stefan rushes in there because Jeremy's life is in danger, saves him but cannot escape due to the spell. The episode ends with him trapped in the tomb, Damon not letting Elena in to help him and Stefan asking Damon to promise to protect Elena.</p> <p>Elsewhere:</p> <p>- Tyler and Caroline bond. They watch a video of Mason's first transformation and Tyler sees all the pain he'll soon experience. Caroline says she doesn't want him to be alone as he does.</p> <p>- Matt comes over to tell Caroline he misses her and sees that Tyler is there.</p> <p>- Luka teaches Bonnie how to do powerful spells with working alongside another special. Owen released video showing US government killing a Chilean president. The government wonders how it got released and a Jr. Analyst Fletcher tells him about his ghost-unit Division. He wants to go to Chile and Percy tells John to let him go and frame him for the assassination. Owen released the video so Division would go into security breach and help them located the black boxes. Owen apologizes for assassinating Nikita’s fiancé.<br /><br />- Michael finds out that Owen is alive, and Percy tells Michael that Nikita is only working for herself. Nikita gets into the CIA office in Chile with the help of Owen and saves Fletcher. Michael goes to Chile with his team, and Nikita, Owen, and Fletcher flee and get caught by the Army. Division retreated.<br /><br />- The Army threatens to shut down Division if Fletcher talks. Fletcher and Nikita talks about Divison, and Nikita tells him to find the part of the government that’s working with them so they can take it down. Fletcher agrees, and Owen gives him proof of Divisions existence. Owen and Nikita jump from the plane.<br /><br />- At Division, Birkhoff gives the recruits as assignment to make an electronic paper trail for the Chilean president. The engineer meets with Percy and Alex is stopped from following them by Jaden. Percy wants Birkhoff and the Engineer to update the boxes wirelessly.<br /><br />Alex watches Birkhoff and Engineer argue, and finally end up playing video games. Engineer tells Birkhoff that he knows more about the boxes than Percy, and is more control than anyone. Percy kills the Engineer and promotes Birkhoff. Jaden blocks Alex from exiting the hole she entered, and looks through Alex’s room to find the blackmail picture. He succeeded in landing a girl wrestler named Lauren, but he was also thrown into a port-o-potty by his football teammates.<br /><br />As a result, he made a deal to be nicer than ever.. but couldn't stop himself from at least kissing Rachel. He did then back off, but after she told Finn about what happened, he dumped her.<br /><br />Elsewhere, Emma had shocking news of her own for Will: she went to Vegas with Carl and got married!<br /><br />Kurt, meanwhile, was having some trouble adjusting to life at Dalton Academy. He didn't get a solo at Sections, as Blaine tried to tell him the team frowns on anyone who tries too hard to stand out.<br /><br />As for Sectionals themselves? Dalton and William McKinley tied for first. The ex didn't take that very well.<br /><br />- Silver was having love issues of her own. She agreed to help Adrianna win over Navid after she spent most of the episode acting more self-absorbed than ever (and it kind of worked, as Ade and Navid has a romantic beach dinner, but it followed the latter admitting he has some feelings for Silver... to Silver!), only to then try to kiss Teddy at the same beach party. But he rejected her and said he had feelings for someone else.<br /><br />- That someone else is Ian! He laid a major kiss on his fellow student near the end of the hour.<br /><br />- Deb was forced into the world of online dating by her kids, but ended up getting it on again with Ryan in the bathroom of a restaurant. Using blood to bribe her, and bringing along a book about the Petrovas, Elena got Katherine to talk. This is what we learned:</p> <p>- In Bulgaria in 1490, Katherine gave birth to a daughter. Her disappointed family immediately took the child away from her and banished Katherine. She ended up in England.</p> <p>- In 1492, she got close to someone named Klaus, before learning he was a vampire and also learning he wanted to kill her because she's a Petrova doppleganger and her blood can help break the sun and moon curse. Katherine befriended another vampire named Trevor, who helped her escape, telling her to go to his friend Rose's house.</p> <p>- Rose welcomed Katherine in, but then locked her in a room and planned on giving her to Klaus because she feared his wrath. But when Katherine stabbed herself because she claimed she'd rather die on her own than be sacrificed, Rose gave her blood to keep her alive. From there, Trevor arrived, Rose left the room - and Katherine hung herself, well aware it would turn her into a vampire.</p> <p>- This was her plan all along, as Klaus needed a human doppleganger to sacrifice. Katherine proceeded to leave Rose's place, which is what led to Rose and Trevor being on the run, for helping her in the first place. Katherine has also been on the run this whole time, but returned to Mystic Falls because she wanted to finally strike a deal with Klaus. She was willing to gather all he needed to break the curse - a doppleganger, a vampire, a werewolf, a witch and the moonstone, which she possess in the tomb - in order to hand them over and finally be free.</p> <p>Elsewhere...</p> <p>- Damon bonded with Rose, who explained how she found Elijah: via a contact in Richmond. Off they went to a special vampire coffee shop with double-paned windows and that's where they met Slater. He had spent eternity getting degrees and seemed like a helpful guy. But before he could reveal too much, Elijah showed up outside and broke through the unique window. All the vampire fled, with Damon pulling Rose to safety.</p> <p>- Late in the episode, he and Rose slept together.</p> <p>Meanwhile...</p> <p>- Bonnie befriended a new student named Luka, much to Jeremy's flirtatious chagrin. He introduced her to his father, Dr. Jonas Martin, who quickly asked if she had relatives in Salem. The reason, Luka later explained? They were warlocks and his dad just wanted to feel her out.</p> <p>- But there's more to it: the episode concluded with Slater calling Rose and telling her and Damon they could make it so that neither werewolves nor vampires ever broke the curse. But they'd need a witch and they'd need the moonstone. After he hung up, we learned that Elijah compelled him to make the call... and then to stake himself. Pan out, and we also see Dr. Martin come into the room behind Elijah. Sue, still acting as principal, said there was nothing she could do because there was no proof. Members of New Directions tried to protect Kurt, with Sam even getting into a major fight with his teammate... well, all members except for Finn.<br /><br />He didn't wanna cause strife with an offensive lineman, which of course made Rachel very disappointed in her man.<br /><br />That takes us to the wedding, which was an emotional affair. Everyone cried and Finn ended up giving a great speech. He said he and Kurt were pretty much brothers now and he'll never let anyone hurt Kurt. Unfortunately, there was nothing he could do about the fact that Karofsky was remaining at school. (Even after Kurt said he threatened his life and Sue tried to expel him, the school board overturned the decision.) As a result of this fact, Kurt told the group at the end of the episode that he was transferring to Dalton Academy because he didn't feel safe as William McKinley.<br /><br />Elsewhere:<br /><br />- Sue's mother came to town because she had killed her final Nazi and because her daughter was marrying (herself... don't ask). But Sue stood strong and ended up telling off the mother who left her and Gene years ago.<br /><br />- Quinn accepted Sam's promise ring. The two end up having sex.<br /><br />At school, meanwhile, New Directions need a teacher. Kurt ends up asking the woman who is subbing for Will in Spanish class: Holly Holliday. She's a free spirit who lets the kids do almost anything and who bashes Will's taste in music. She wants the group to update its set list as it decides what to sing for Sectionals.<br /><br />Such an attitude endears Holly to the group, even to Rachel, who admits that she's always wanted to sing a fun dance number - so Holly joins her on stage for a number from "Chicago."<br /><br />But after Mercedes gets in trouble for taking Holly's advice (stuffing tater tots into Sue's tail pipe in protest of them being banned), Holly breaks down, visits Will and realizes she's too flaky to be an effective teacher. She has commitment problems and fears passing these along to the kids. Terri actually walks in on these two chatting, freaks out a bit and is told by Will to leave, that the night before was a mistake.<br /><br />Will ends up coming back to work because Sue realizes google_ad_section_start --><br />Review:<br />The stoic and mysterious Michael took centre stage in this week’s episode of Nikita, as we were finally given insight into his reasons for both joining Division, and, more importantly, staying there.<br /><br />To its credit, the show’s flashbacks always examine a character’s motivations for their seemingly inexcusable actions, and they always do so in an interesting way that has yet to feel contrived or unnecessary. Other shows would claim to use flashbacks for the same purpose, but it’s undeniable that some are guilty of using them as little more than cheap filler and in scenes which hold one’s interest with the same ability as a sock can hold a pint of lukewarm wee.<br /><br />The flashbacks in One Way delved deep into the murky and troubled past of Michael, who ranks as the character second-most in need of a bit of back-story (just behind the still diabolical-for-the-hell-of-it Percy). In Michael, we have seen a man whose moral compass has survived undamaged in his years of service to Division, to the extent that it seems highly incongruous that such a jolly good egg would even be seen dead associating with an odious little toe-rag like Percy, not to mention a nasty old bunch like Division. This week we saw his reasons for doing so: his family were brutally slain by a terrorist named Kaseem, and Percy held his only chance at getting his revenge.<br /><br />Now, Shane West hasn’t exactly been the best thing about Nikita in its first eight episodes. No. In fact, truth be told, his pouting, growling-like-a-teenager-trying-to-get-served-for-booze sulking act was on the verge of becoming quite tiresome, as was his frightful goatee (although the beard hatred is irrelevant and probably more a personal thing of mine that stems from wanting to be sick whenever I see Noel Edmonds). This is not a slight against West himself: he hasn’t truthfully had the chance to do much more than growl his way humourlessly through every one of his scenes so far, but his quest for revenge displayed an acting range that could easily have been thought to be beyond him, and the fact that he pulled it off admirably added considerable weight and pathos to a character that had previously had none.<br /><br />To West’s credit, his rage towards Kaseem was palpable and, most importantly, entirely believable.<br /><br />Percy, in a rare display of altruism, had allowed Michael a free pass to get at Kaseem, but he had not foreseen Nikita stepping in to assist, to facilitate what she called Michael’s first ‘baby step’ to leaving division. Nikita saw to it that she and Michael formed an alliance to take out Kaseem, thus freeing Michael from his burden of debt to Division and gaining another ally in her struggle against them.<br /><br />While the episode itself was distinctly light on the action, it was nice seeing the sparks fly between Nikita and Michael, and their pursuit of Kaseem did have a few standout moments. Nikita’s exploitation of a fat man’s love of women and football was entertaining enough, and Michael’s waterboarding was just as unpleasant as it needed to be to effectively get the point across. Division’s realisation that Nikita was involved was a bit daft, though. If they are capable of spotting her on a random CCTV camera in the Middle East, why do they have such trouble locating her on her – and their - home turf?<br /><br />Nevertheless, the eventual dissolution of this newly regained partnership came about in a genuinely tense scene in which Michael stalked his nemesis at an airport, armed with nothing but a shard of broken glass, only to be foiled by Nikita in order to save his life.<br /><br />It was sad to see his hatred of her as a result, especially as he would never have known she was responsible if she had decided not to continue her discussion with the local fuzz over the radio within his earshot (d’oh!). While this was all clearly just a stall to prevent him from leaving Division after nine episodes, it definitely left the show in a more interesting place than if everyone just got along. Whether he will reserve equal disdain for Percy as thanks for foiling the whole mission will be seen next week.<br /><br />Less successful, on pretty much every level, was Alex’s storyline, which was so full of plot holes that it was practically transparent. Getting ‘rumbled’ for sneaking her way onto the over-amorous doctor’s computer was fine, if really rather stupid, backing Alex into a corner and forcing her hand (which happened to have quite a large needle in it). But her eventual blackmailing of the reanimated Jaden (where has she been?) into corroborating her story was a plan so flimsy it was would have fallen apart at the first sign of questioning.<br />If Jaden is simply going to be brought out of the cupboard as and when Alex needs to be annoyed, then here’s hoping she meets an untimely end quite soon. Although, with the whelp Thom now firmly on the full-time staff, it seems more likely that she will hang around for some time yet.<br /><br />A decent enough episode to keep interest piqued, then, but with the highs the show has managed to reach before now this does has to be seen as the weakest effort so far. By no means a bad hour of telly, but some way short of the brisk and intelligent storytelling seen in previous episodes.<br /><br />Stuff to ponder:<br /><br />- How long will it take Michael to forgive Nikita? Her captors turn out to be two vampires. The boys all struggle to figure out where Elena has been taken, and Bonnie does a tracking spell to find her.</p> <p>Damon and Stefan take to the road to get her back. The brothers try and take part in some road trip bonding, but their common link, Elena, gets in the way.</p> <p>Tyler suddenly has to keep his strength and werewolf skills in check, though it's not easy with Caroline keeping her information on his condition to herself. He breaks into her house and Caroline is forced to tell him that she is a vampire. They end up bonding and talking about everything.</p> <p>Bonnie uses up too much of her power sending Elena a message, knocking herself out. She has been wearing herself out with all her magic use. Thankfully, the spell worked and Elena gets the message.</p> <p>Elena is told by her captors that she is a Petrova doppleganger and that if she is killed, the sun and the moon curse will be broken. Also, Katherine herself was a doppelganger and the captors helped her escape her fate by turning her into a vampire.</p> <p>The mysterious Elijah shows up for Elena, right as the boys arrive at the house. Elijah compels Elena to tell him where the moonstone is and also that Katherine is located with it. The Salvatore brothers kill Elijah and save Elena.</p> <p>Stefan apologizes to Damon for forcing him to turn 145 years ago. Rose (Elena's former captor) comes to Stefan to let him know that the 'Originals' will come for Elena and that she wants to help him protect her.</p> <p>The episode ends with Damon and Elena and he tells her that he loves her. Because he loves her, he can't be selfish with her, and his brother deserves her because he doesn't. He then compels her to forget everything he said.</p> <p>Oh, and one last thing: Elijah isn't dead. Apparently, wooden stakes don't kill Originals.</p> <p>Talk about an episode. We finally got to the bottom of the doppleganger issue that has been danced around all season. While I was shocked to find out that Elena is the key to the sun and moon curse (though what exactly that is, I'm still not exactly sure of), I wasn't expecting to find out that Katherine was once a doppleganger herself. I am interested to see where this news takes us in episodes to come.</p> <p>I also enjoy what the writers are doing with Caroline and Tyler. I see good things for these two, except for when the full moon strikes and Caroline has to make sure that he doesn't bite and kill her. Their pairing is unexpected and I like that.</p> <p>Another budding couple worth mentioning is Jeremy and Bonnie, and surprisingly, this duo has caused Jeremy to grow on me. In fact, the last few weeks have brought a more confident change for his character and I no longer find myself dreading seeing him on screen. I worry for Bonnie, though, as these nosebleeds and fainting will only bring bad things and eventually she could end up with the same fate as her grandmother.</p> <p>Now, on to the short lived vampire duo. It was refreshing to meet some new vamps, especially ones that really invoke the true nature of vampirism. For a second there, I thought I was watching an episode of <em>True Blood</em> and, trust me, that's not a bad thing. I think that their delivery of the doppleganger curse was well timed. It's getting late in the first half of the season and I was beginning to wonder how long the writers were going to make us wait. Now that we know, we can move on to the real baddies, the Originals.</p> <p>Speaking of, I for quite a bit of trouble ahead for the Salvatore brothers as well as everyone else in Mystic Falls. That trouble being in the form of the very angry, and not dead like they thought, Elijah.</p> <p>It was good to see the Salvatores acting like brothers, working as a team, yet still spitting out oneliners. Stefan's apology to Damon was one of the standout moments in tonight's episode. I think I like it best when they work together, though that may or may not be about to change.</p> <p>I wasn't exactly sure how to take Damon's message to Elena. Part of me feels like he really will do his best to let his brother have her, but part of me feels like it isn't in Damon's nature to be selfless, though I loved that scene, and I thought it was probably the sweetest and most genuine we will ever see Damon. Unless, of course, we end up in an alternative reality where Damon somehow gets the girl. Either way, the scene was beautifully done and I commend Nina Dobrev and especially Ian Somerhalder for their wonderful work.</p> <p>All in all, <em>Rose</em> was a good set-up episode which will allow next week to begin with a bang. When Kurt when to spy on them, he quickly met Blaine, an openly gay student who was totally comfortable with his sexuality. He encouraged Kurt to stand up for himself, even when things got very difficult.<br /><br />Kurt took this advice and fought back against the football-playing brut that always bullied him. When Kurt confronted him in the locker room, the guy kissed Kurt! I didn't see that coming. Turns out, it was Kurt's first kiss.<br /><br />Elsewhere, thing got awkward when most of the guys admitted they pictured Coach Beiste in unusual scenarios in order to take a break and not get too excited, sexually. When she found this out, courtesy of Will, Beiste wanted to quit. She was humiliated.<br /><br />But will talked her out of it and said she was beautiful on the inside and outside. He learned she had also never been kissed and gave her a smooch.<br /><br />Finally, Puck returned and bonded with Artie, solely to fill his community service obligations. But he didn't treat Artie very well, as you can tell the theme here is bullying.
