Did you know you can turn Grabber Warmers on and off? It's true!

For years, thrifty fans of Grabber Hand Warmers have used a plain old ziplock bag to conserve their precious purchase. No more! Now, with the Super Value Pack, you get 2 revolutionary, resealable Grabber Air Lock Warmer Bags along with 50 Hand Warmers.

To use, just simply open up a Grabber Warmer and use it for a while to walk the dog, cheer on the home team at an outdoor game, or just give your fingers a warm break. Then pop the warmer into one of the bags, press out the air, and zip it shut. Later on, unzip the bag and take out the warmer. Minutes later, the warmer will heat back up and keep you warm for the remaining duration.

This way, you can use Grabber Warmers over and over again so they'll last a long time.

Heat Holders Heat Your Feet

We used to tell people it was magic, plain and simple but eventually they caught on. Instead, it's just science. Hand warmers generate heat through a chemical reaction that is very similar to rusting.

"Rusting?" you say. "Hogwash!" No, it's true. The ingredients for a typical Grabber hand warmer are iron, water, cellulose, vermiculite, activated carbon, and salt. Here's what happens when you open the air-tight package for each warmer:

The iron in the pouch, when exposed to oxygen, oxidizes and produces heat (hence, "air-activated")
When iron oxidizes, it produces iron oxide...more commonly referred to as rust
Salt acts as a catalyst
Carbon helps disperse the heat
Vermiculite is used as an insulator to help retain heat
Cellulose is added as filler
All of these ingredients are surrounded by a polypropylene bag
Polypropylene allows air to permeate the ingredients while holding in moisture

And that's our answer to the age-old question, How do hand warmers work! Pretty simple, right? Of course, only Grabber hand warmers get those special ingredients in just the right magical mix for long-lasting, consistent, quality products.

Learn more at Warmers.com: How Do Hand Warmers Work?

<georss:box>42.854992800000005 -85.6991688 42.8628578 -85.6845778</georss:box>

Stranded

Once upon a time, a couple decades ago, I visited a friend who lived out in rural Michigan. It was the dead of winter, but it was one of those pristine days where your breath comes out in a cloud and looks in danger of crashing to the ground, splintering in a million icy shards. Perfect day for snowmobiling in the countryside, right? As it happens, I had two things working against me: I wasn't really dressed for snowmobiling and I had never snowmobiled before.

We tooled around the fields for a while, each of us on our own snowmobile. Somehow I got separated from my friend, and the next thing I know my ride just stops dead. It won't start up again. No one in sight. I have no choice but to hike it back to the house, in snow over a foot deep and me in jeans and inadequate footwear.

What I wouldn't have given for some Foot Warmers back then! I ended up making it back to the house, narrowly escaping frostbite but oh how my skin itched. I think I spent the remainder of that visit shivering and scratching. That lesson taught me to be better prepared when venturing outdoors, and to appreciate certain Outdoor Gear for just such an event.

What's your worst outdoor adventure gone wrong?
<img width='1' height='1' I retrieved it on February 20th, 2010 and flew three days across the wintery Northlands and mountainous terrain with an ultimate destination of my home in Iowa. I complimented my best winter gear with Grabber Body Warmers, Hand Warmers in my mittens, Foot Warmers on the insoles of my shoes with Toe Warmers on the tops of my socks and additional Hand Warmers in the pockets of my expedition gear. Even at 13,500 feet above the mountains (nearly -35F), I was able to stay warm enough to comfortably and safely operate my new airplane. I flew via mountain passes from Spokane, WA to Billings, MT on the first day. The warmers all provided heat well over the advertised timeframe. My second day I was limited by weather and only made the trek from Billings to Rapid City, SD. Again, it was very cold and the airplane that I was operating had no heat or insulation. My third and final day I was able to fly from Rapid City, SD to my home in Pocahontas, IA. I had several sets of hand, foot, toe and body warmers (purchased some weekender kits plus additional hand and foot warmers). At the temperatures I encountered along my route, comfort became secondary to survival. Your product not only delivered but excelled! I was able to safely navigate the 1150 nautical miles home without any harm to myself or the new airplane! I was a strong skeptic when your product was recommended by a friend of mine. I wouldn't believe that such a product could deliver for only $1-$2 per piece. Although there are many different kinds of cooling products on the market, we wanted to make sure that whichever product we chose lived up to our quality standards.

Finally, we are proud to announce the availability of Grabber Magic Cool! Magic Cool is a high-performance cooling cloth that can be used in any application where rapid personal cooling is desired. The unique "catch and release" fabric technology and the special chamois finish of the Magic Cool cloth create high absorption, retention and dispersion of water to maintain the cool temperature of the cloth. Magic Cool contains a non-toxic, anti-microbial treatment to reduce odors. Wear on head or around neck for maximum cooling benefits. UPF 50+ rating insures maximum protection from harmful UV rays.

To activate Magic Cool, wet the cloth thoroughly with water. Gently squeeze out the excess water so the cloth is not dripping wet. The more moisture left in the cloth, the longer the cooling action will last. Lightly wave the cloth in the air. This action will accelerate the rapid cooling process. To renew the cooling process, simply shake the already-moist cloth. To regenerate a dry Magic Cool cloth, re-wet, squeeze our excess water and wave.

Magic Cool is available now on Warmers.com!

If You Don't Like The Weather...

They say temperature sensitivity is subjective, and I have to agree. I lived in Florida and Missouri for a few years, thinking that the higher temps would be a luxury this Michigander would always find comforting. Not so. After some time, 50 degrees felt the same as 40 here in Michigan. Our bodies just modulate to the environment, creating a new range of comfort (or discomfort) wherever we are.

The same thing happened this past weekend. It was sunny and warm, near 60 degrees. In November? In Michigan? It was about as close to an Indian Summer as we can hope for, and it was fun to go about the weekend activities in short sleeves, leaving the coat in the closet. Then Monday hit, cloudy and cool. What a difference! Today it's windy and cloudy...a typical November day, with the promise of winter not far away.

No matter where you live, or how warm or cool it might be, winter will bring even colder weather. Although I didn't need Grabber Warmers this past weekend, I sure need them now. And so will you. That's why I decided to put all Grabber Warmers on sale today, for a limited time! It's a big production, with plenty of food and drink and lots of equipment, including grills, tables, chairs, and games. Who's bringing the canopy? Who brought it last year? Who's responsible for breakfast this year? It's a series of questions made so much easier by putting together a spreadsheet and asking everyone to contribute.

No matter how organized we are, though, something always slips through the cracks. It could be something as simple as a bottle opener (yeah, that happened this year) or something so critical as a Hand Warmer. I mean, heck, I work for a Hand Warmer company! You'd think I'd remember a few of them, right? Well, I didn't and we had to set up the equipment in the early morning chill. If only I had a convenient way to pack those warmers...

The new Grabber Warmers Excursion Pack is exactly the answer to that prayer. It's a compact little box (with a handle!) that easily slides under the seat, fits in the trunk or might even squeeze into a roomy glove compartment. Inside are 8 pairs of Hand Warmers, 8 pairs of Toe Warmers and 8 Body Warmers, the perfect amount of portable heat for, say, a group of tailgaters? I guess next year I have no excuse to forget Hand Warmers, so I'm sticking a box in my trunk for next year while the game (we won!) is still fresh in my mind.

New Product: Weekender Packs

Some fall and winter weekends were made for taking a hike through the woods: breathing in the crisp air, kicking up a pile of multi-colored leaves, biking along the trails. Warmers.com is proud to present just such a product: Rope Lok. Just this morning as I drove to work, I saw two rubberized tie-down straps with those metal S-hooks laying in the road. Clearly, they had popped free during transit and the driver never noticed. Maybe those S-hooks tore free, scraping the vehicle, and perhaps the cargo had been endangered as well. Who needs that? The good folks (fellow Michiganders!) at Rope Lok invented a much more efficient means of strapping down your stuff with their Diamondback No Knot Rope Lok.

The Diamondback No Knot Rope Lok is one of the most versatile and easiest tie-downs to use. They're staying close to home, cutting back on extravagances, and generally tightening the purse strings. Nothing wrong with that; in fact, our current economic situation lends itself to reflection. Do we really need dessert after a meal out on the town? Couldn't we toss a couple bucks in the bank instead of blowing them at the movie concession stand? Hey, isn't that a quarter on the ground?

It's refreshing to see common sense pay a visit to the wallet! Retailers, too, are reevaluating their goals, with an emphasis on inexpensive, quality goods rather than cheap products or overinflated prices. Warmers.com is no different. We took a good, hard look at our Grabber Warmers product line and asked ourselves, "What would our customers like?" We listened to our visitors and came up with new tier-based pricing!

What does that mean to you? Pretty simple: the more you buy, the less you pay. It's less expensive for us to ship larger quantities, per unit, so we're passing those savings along to the consumer. And if you decide to really stock up, there's an ever bigger discount at the case level (less handling and repackaging means saving money, which we pass along to you). Pretty simple, right? And don't worry about whether or not you'll use all those Grabber Warmers. You will. Besides, they last an average of 4 years from date of manufacture! Store the rest safely in the closet for next season (unless, like me, you're forced to use them at work when the air conditioner seems to have run amok).

To see tier-based pricing, just click on the products at the Grabber Warmers category. It didn't last long, but one mantra stuck with me: Be Prepared. Like many of you, I now have a junk drawer full of little odds-n-ends (you never know when you might need that Allen Wrench that came with the entertainment center you sold three years ago). I also have an "emergency kit" in the car, filled with first aid supplies, jumper cables, and plenty of Grabber Warmers.

Sometimes, though, you might need more than just air-activated warmers in an emergency situation. To that end, Warmers.com has sought out quality warming and safety accessories to complement the Grabber line:

Battery-Powered Heat Sox, only $26.99: Pop a "D" cell alkaline battery in each sock and enjoy dual temperature warmth for your tootsies! Available in medium, large or extra-large.

Car Cozy Heated Blanket, only $29.99: Plug this electric blanket into any 12-volt power outlet and make those long car rides upstate just a little more comfortble. Available in plaid or navy blue.

K-Light Solar Powered Lantern, only $69.99: the K-Light Solar Powered Lantern rocks 16 bright LEDS. It makes a great lantern or transforms into a bright flashlight, all on solar power!

This weekend we're supposed to spend some time with friends in northern Michigan, and wouldn't you know it? It's supposed to snow, despite being nearly April! So tomorrow, before we head up, I'll be double-checking to make sure the emergency road kit is fully stocked.

Into the Shining Sun

Although it's not quite 50 degrees outside (closer to 40, really), the sun is shining, the birds are chirping and the skies are blue. But that's not all; I've also hidden an "Easter Egg" among the products. If you purchase the secret item, you'll get a free RealTree Heated Headband included with your order! There's no way to tell which of the three sale items hides the freebie, and you won't know until your order arrives. The suspense is unbearable! Good luck, and choose wisely.

Weekend Warriors Unite!

Do you consider yourself a Weekend Warrior?
