SNL Skit: Liam Neeson Gets in the Cage With Nic Cage

Liam Neeson did a cameo on Saturday Night Live last night to promote his new film Battleship. He agreed to go in the cage with Nic Cage (Andy Samberg) on Weekend Update. Cage is one of Samberg's best characters -- he really nails the Cage Crazy, that's for sure. As usual, Nic is unhappy that he is not also starring in Battleship because it has all the elements of a classic Cage movie: "it's based on a children's board game and you don't have to speak English to understand it." Filming Underway on Getaway, Starring Ethan Hawke, Selena Gomez and Jon Voight

Dark Castle Entertainment and After Dark Films have announced that principal photography has begun on the action thriller Getaway. The film stars Ethan Hawke, Selena Gomez and Jon Voight.

Ethan Hawke plays Brent Magna, a burned out race car driver who is thrust into a do-or-die mission behind the wheel when his wife is kidnapped. Selena Gomez plays a young hacker and Brent's only ally. Brent's one hope of saving his wife is to follow the orders of the mysterious voice (Jon Voight) who's watching his every move through cameras mounted on the car Brent's driving.

Courtney Solomon (An American Haunting) and Yaron Levy (director of photography on Transit) are teaming up to direct Getaway. Solomon is also producing the film with Moshe Diamant and Chris Milburn. The executive producers are Joel Silver, Alan Zeman and Steve Richards. The screenplay is by Gregg Maxwell Parker and Sean Finegan. The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Leonard Nimoy and John Noble Talk Fringe Finale

Leonard Nimoy and John Noble discuss William Bell's return to Fringe for the finale, which airs this Friday nigh ton fox. The return of William Bell was shocking and has really turned the storyline in a new direction. Nimoy says that when he was last on the show in Season 2, "The Bell character was unresolved. We didn't quite know whether to trust him or what his intentions really were." It seems clear after last week's episode that his intentions are not good at all (and what about poor Astrid?).

Noble comments that William Bell has taken control of the situation and what's worse says he "think[s] he's completely insane at this point." Noble says that Walter must try to fight back against his old partner that he calls Belly, although the situation seems quite hopeless. Take a look:

Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena Patrol the Mean Streets in End of Watch

Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena star in this new trailer for their cop thriller End of Watch. Jake and Michael play two Los Angeles police officers who are assigned to patrol the dangerous streets of south central L.A. When they stumble on a major drug cartel's activities they get involved in something way above their pay grades, making them targets. The film is written and directed by David Ayer, who wrote Training Day and S.W.A.T., the film uses the found footage trope to tell the story. The film looks pretty intense. Joss Whedon Explains Avengers Scene Where Thor Fights Iron Man

In this clip from The Avengers, director and screenwriter Joss Whedon does the commentary for the scene where Thor (Chris Hemsworth) gets into a fight with Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) Joss says that the fight was easier for Robert because when the helmet goes on, he gets to sit in his trailer while the stuntman takes over. But Chris had his own face in the fight. Joss says everyone wanted to see who would win in a fight between the two, but he wanted to make the fight make sense for the characters. It looks awesome. In the new, longer theatrical trailer we get to see a bit more of the plotline for G.I. Joe: Retaliation. It appears the president of the United States has been replaced by a double who gave the order to wipe out the G.I. Joes. Dwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum, Adrianne Palicki and Bruce Willis team up to save the country. The CGI looks great in this one, as does the action sequences. The film hits theaters June 29, 2012. Production Begins on Disney's Oki's Oasis. Mandy Moore to Voice Oki

Production has begun on the animated series Oki's Oasis, which Disney says it the "first western for preschoolers.: It stars actress and singer-songwriter Mandy Moore (Tangled) as the voice of Oki, a kitty cat sheriff who ensures that the town of Nice and Friendly Corners remains the friendliest town in the West. Oki has a deputy woodpecker, Peck, and a cactus sidekick named Kiko.

Nancy Kanter, senior vice president, original programming and general manager, Disney Junior Worldwide, said in a statement, "Oki's Oasis uses the legend of the Old West to impart social skills and lessons for young kids about being a good friend and neighbor, reinforcing what parents are already teaching their children at home about forgiveness, honesty and sharing. The series further demonstrates Disney Junior's dedication to programming that highlights the importance of great, heartfelt storytelling as an impetus for learning and development."

The series is slated to premiere in 2013 on Disney Junior channels and programming blocks around the world.

Francis Lawrence Chosen to Direct Hunger Games Sequel, Catching Fire

Well, that didn't take long Lionsgate has chosen Francis Lawrence to direct Catching Fire, the sequel to The Hunger Games which starred Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark. Lawrence is replacing Gary Ross who says he left the project because of the tight shooting schedule (other rumors say he had a money dispute with the studio, although Ross denies this.)

Lawrence directed Water For Elephants which starred Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson, I Am Legend which starred Will Smith and Constantine which starred Keanu Reeves. He got his start directing music videos for Aerosmith, Green Day, Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez.

We'll be interested to see how he interprets Catching Fire. Lawrence is a well-rounded director who is good with action scenes, pacing and with emotional scenes, so we think he'll do a great job.

Sprout to Launch Justin Time on Earth Day

Sprout, a 24-hour preschool television network, will premiere a new animated series, Justin Time, on Earth Day. The series centers around Justin, a young boy who imagines himself traveling around the world at different points in history. The premiere kicks off the weeklong "Justin Time for Earth Week," which will inform preschoolers about the world around them, with a lineup of environmental and educational content. Shows include: dirtgirlworld and a Noodle and Doodle Choose to Reuse segment and online contest. Jennie Garth Talks Divorce, New Reality Show

Jennie Garth stars in a new reality show, A Little Bit Country, on CMT. The show follows her move from L.A. to a farm in the country with her three daughters. Jennie went through a divorce, from husband Peter Facinelli, during the middle of filming the show. She is now on the press circuit promoting the show and she is getting lots of questions about her divorce, which she says is difficult.

Jennie says, "The hardest part about it is actually the timing of everything. When I started to take this show on I wasn't headed down this road. Now, part of my job of doing anything as an actress is following through and doing the press on something. So now I'm doing the press circuit for the show and doing interviews and people want to talk about it. I'm okay talking about it, but it's certainly not something Im going out and - it's not something you really want to talk about."

Jennie says the show was not the reason for the split. She says she was not jealous of his fame as some web rumors have suggested.

She does say being in the country has given her perspective and clarity. She also says her girls are great and enjoying the farm. Take a look:

Samuel L. Jackson Talks Tarantino, Django Unchained

While doing press for The Avengers Samuel L. Jackson answered The Hollywood Reporter's questions about Jackson's role in Quentin Tarantino's next film, Django Unchained. The spaghetti western in set in the Antebellum South. Jamie Foxx plays a slave who teams up with an Austrian bounty hunter played by Cristoph Waltz. They go on a hunt to find Foxx's character's wife (Kerry Washington). Leonardo DiCaprio plays a sadistic plantation owner who uses slaves for fighting and other depraved entertainment. Jackson plays a trusted house slave owned by DiCaprio's character.

Jackson says, "It's definitely an opportunity to explore a place in my history that I hadn't thought about, and deal with it in an honest and very dramatic way. [It's] an opportunity to be with one of the most iconic filmmakers we've ever had, or in my lifetime." Take a look:

Keeping Up With the Kardashians Returns May 20th

E!'s popular Keeping Up With the Kardashians reality series returns May 20, 2012. This season follows last year's wedding disaster for star Kim Kardashian, so a close eye will kept on the ratings this year to see if the show continues to deliver.

The season premiere, May 20, kicks off with mom Kris heartbroken over the recent headlines declaring Khloe is not the biological daughter of Robert Kardashian. During the season Kim and Khloe move their original Dash boutique from Calabasas to Hollywood. Meanwhile, the younger siblings, Kendall and Kylie, get a job at a major magazine.

Matt Groening Says Homer's Hometown in The Simpsons Inspired by Springfield, Oregon

The Simpsons creator Matt Groening has revealed that Homer's hometown is inspired by Springfield, Oregon. Groening also told Smithsonian Magazine, "I also figured out that Springfield was one of the most common names for a city in the U.S. In anticipation of the success of the show, I thought, 'This will be cool; everyone will think it's their Springfield.'And they do."

The town in The Simpsons has more of a Midwest feel to some viewers. Some of the people in the town of Springfield, Oregon do not have a problem with this and they are eager to use it to get tourists into the town. Take a look:

Spielberg's Classic Film Jaws Being Digitally Remastered For Upcoming Blu-ray Release

In honor of Universal's 100th Anniversary Celebration, the studio is undertaking a massive restoration project of many film, including Academy Award Winner Steven Spielberg's iconic summer classic, Jaws. The film will be released on Blu-ray for the first time on August 14th. The film has been digitally remastered and fully restored.

The team of technicians used the original negative of the film. But Spielberg says the negative was actually "pretty crummy." There were vertical scratches on the film, for example. Using a special liquid which erases the scratches, the film goes through the liquid bath, then the film is scanned digitally. Then they used high end editing software to manipulate the pixels to erase all the damage. It's really fascinating, painstaking work. Colorists had to match all the shots. Spielberg says the new HD version will look better on an HD TV at home that it did in the theater when it came out.

The sound was also remixed from the original monotracks. It was a very difficult process, especially given how crucial the music is to the tone of the movie. The output will be both film and digital. Digital files are easy to work with, but it important to preserve the 35mm film which will last more than 100 years. It looks fabulous -- we can't wait to see the final verison. Take a look:

Liam is the youngest of the bunch and has said how intimidated he was walking on the set for the first time. But he said everyone was really nice to him. The film hits theaters in August, 2012. Watchers Watch has joined Pinterest. Pinterest is a new social networks that lets users create virtual pinboards on different topics. Users then pin nteresting things they find online to their pinboards using a graphic or photograph. You can find Watchers Watch on Pinterest here.

Stephen Hawking Helps Big Bang Theory Beat American Idol

The New York Daily News reports that Stephen Hawking's guest appearance on The Big Bang Theory helped the show beat American Idol in ratings on Thursday night. Over 13 million watched the show. The show has defeated the popular American Idol reality show in the ratings before, but we say this is evidence that more scientists need cameos on major television shows.
