Many business owners say they are walking by faith, but faith is more than positive thinking. The Bible says Abraham “considered not his own body now dead, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb” (Romans 4:19). Abraham knew the facts. He knew the obstacles. He knew what was possible in the natural. Yet he chose to focus on what God had said rather than what circumstances suggested. That is the heart of faith. Faith is not pretending problems do not exist. Faith is receiving God’s perspective about a situation and allowing that perspective to become stronger than everything your eyes can see.

This principle matters greatly in business. Every worthwhile mission will encounter obstacles. There will be seasons when sales are slow, capital is scarce, customers are difficult, and opportunities seem far away. If you spend all your time studying the problem, your faith will gradually disappear. Scripture says that “he that observeth the wind shall not sow” (Ecclesiastes 11:4). Many people never build anything significant because they keep waiting for perfect conditions. They keep calculating risks, discussing limitations, and rehearsing difficulties. Meanwhile, those who move forward in faith continue planting, building, learning, and serving despite uncertainty and opposition.

Take a careful look at your business today. What occupies most of your attention? Are you meditating on God’s promises for your mission, or are you constantly thinking about what is not working? Faith grows where attention goes. If God has called you to build, then build. If He has given you an idea, then work it. Refuse to let temporary circumstances become permanent conclusions. The economy may be difficult. Resources may be limited. Progress may seem slow. Yet God remains faithful. Keep your eyes on the assignment, keep doing the work, and keep moving forward in faith every single day.

Many Christians have been taught to think small when it comes to business. They assume that profit and purpose are somehow enemies. They are not. If God has placed a mission in your heart, then you should want the most sustainable and profitable version of that mission possible. Profit is not the goal, but profit is what allows the mission to continue. Whatever problem God has called you to solve, there is a version of that solution that can operate at scale, bless millions of lives, and generate billions in revenue. Do not be afraid of that possibility.

The world’s most influential companies are rarely built around money alone. They are built around missions. Meta talks about helping people connect and build community. Google set out to organize the world’s information and make it accessible. The most successful businesses are usually obsessed with a problem they want to solve or a future they want to create. Profit follows because people willingly pay for value. The mission provides direction. The profit provides fuel. Remove the mission and the business loses its way. Remove the profit and the mission eventually runs out of resources.

If God has called you into business, stop apologizing for wanting to make money. The better question is: what will that money accomplish? Build a business that solves real problems. Build a business that creates jobs. Build a business that develops people. Build a business that reflects the values of the Kingdom. Then pursue profit boldly and without shame. A mission without resources struggles to survive. A mission with resources can transform cities, industries, and nations. Do not settle for a small vision. Let purpose set the direction, and let profit provide the power to keep moving forward.

Many people feel stuck in life. They say they have writer’s block. Business block. Innovation block. But most times, the problem is not lack of ideas. It is disconnection from the Source of ideas. When a person feels empty, it is not because nothing is available. It may be because something is off in alignment. Think about nature. The river does not struggle to flow when it is connected to its source. The problem begins when there is blockage or distance. In the same way, the human spirit begins to feel dry when it is disconnected from God.

Creativity and momentum to keep going in your business or career is not something we manufacture endlessly. It is something we receive continually from the right place. King Uzziah’s story in 2 Chronicles perfectly illustrates this. As long as he sought the Lord, God gave him extraordinary success, inspiration, and the momentum to build a powerful kingdom. His creative military inventions and prosperity weren’t self-manufactured; they were continually received from a divine source. However, when he grew powerful, pride took over. He stopped relying on that source, resulting in his downfall.

Remember the words of Jesus, “I can do nothing by myself.” Everything He did flowed from His relationship with the Father. His words, His wisdom, His timing, His power, all were connected to alignment. He was not operating independently; He was operating in constant connection. Your lost creativity, joy, and momentum can be restored the same way it is sustained. It is through prayer, stillness, obedience, and alignment with God. When you feel stuck, do not only look for new ideas. Check your connection. The flow is still there, but alignment may need to be restored.

Many people have a mission. They know there is something God has called them to do. They carry the burden in their hearts year after year. But nothing is happening. The problem is not lack of vision. It is lack of investment. A mission grows where time is invested. Purpose grows where attention is given. A lot of people are frustrated, looking for results from work they have not done. We believe in the mission, but we have not yet given ourselves fully to it. Missions are built with hours, days, months, and years of faithful labor.

The Bible is full of people who paid the price for their assignment. Apostle Paul understood the cost of a mission. He spoke of ‘toil and hardship,’ ‘many sleepless nights,’ and seasons of ‘hunger and thirst’ (2 Corinthians 11:27). He knew that meaningful assignments come with sacrifice. In another place, Paul instructed Timothy to give himself wholly to the work so that his progress would be evident to everyone (1 Timothy 4:15). There is a clear pattern, progress follows commitment. Clear results follow labor. You must be ready to give up comfort for the sake of the kingdom. The future demands sacrifices from the present.

Your mission is not impossible, you just haven’t done enough work for it to take shape. Imagine how different your life would be if you invested 1,000 hours into your mission. If you put in between 4 to 10 hours every day, think of all the progress you would make. Imagine doing that consistently for a year. Imagine what would happen if you treated your mission with the same seriousness you give to your job, your entertainment, or your distractions. Your mission is real. Your calling is real. But you have not done the work.

A lot of Africans think creativity and inventiveness is something only the “oyinbo” people have. Others think creativity belongs to artists, musicians, and maybe graphic designers. But the Bible presents creativity as something much deeper. Creativity is one of the ways God expresses Himself through human beings. Every solution, every invention, every breakthrough, every technology, every beautiful work begins as an idea. Ideas matter because God is a Creator. We were made in His image, so the ability to imagine, design, build, and solve problems is part of our spiritual inheritance. Creativity is one of the ways the grace of God works through us to bless the world around us.

We see this in the story of Bezalel. When God wanted the Tabernacle built, He did not just give Bezalel instructions. God filled him with His Spirit and gave him wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and skill for all kinds of craftsmanship. Bezalel’s ability to design, build, and create was not treated as a natural talent alone. It was a spiritual empowerment. God anointed a craftsman. God anointed a builder. God anointed a designer. This reminds us that creativity can be just as spiritual as preaching, teaching, or any other ministry gift when it is surrendered to God.

Many of the problems around you are waiting for a creative solution. Ask yourself: What comes naturally to me? What problems do I enjoy solving? What ideas keep returning to my mind? These may be clues to the grace of God at work through you. Do not ignore your creativity. Develop it. Use it. Strengthen it through study, practice, and obedience. The world does not only need more sermons. The world also needs better solutions, better systems, better businesses, better technologies, and better ideas. Your creativity may be the key towards destroying the poverty ravaging your world.

There is a Yoruba proverb that says, “Ọmọ burúkú ní ọjọ́ tirẹ̀” — even the difficult child (or problem child) has their day. It is a reminder that people are often more than their worst moments. Many relationships break down because we judge people too quickly. We see a mistake, a weakness, a failure, or a bad season and decide we have seen the whole person. But life is not that simple. The person who disappoints you today may become a great blessing tomorrow. The person who seems immature today may grow into someone dependable. Not every rough season is a final verdict on a person’s life.

We can see this in the story of John Mark. During an early missionary journey, he abandoned Paul and Barnabas and returned home. Paul was so disappointed that he later refused to take him on another journey. The disagreement became so serious that Paul and Barnabas went their separate ways. Yet that was not the end of John Mark’s story. Years later, Paul would write that John Mark was useful to him for ministry. The same man who once seemed unreliable had grown into someone valuable. Time, experience, and God’s work in his life changed the story.

Take a moment to think about the people around you. Is there someone you have written off too quickly? Someone whose story you have already concluded? Wisdom teaches us to be discerning, and love teaches us to leave room for growth. People can change. People can mature. People can surprise us. The friend who struggles today may become a pillar tomorrow. The young person who seems directionless today may one day lead others. God is still writing people’s stories. Before you give up on someone completely, remember the wisdom of the elders: “Ọmọ burúkú ní ọjọ́ tirẹ̀.” Even the difficult child has their day.

Money is a powerful tool, but it is a terrible master. This is why the Bible does not say money is the root of all evil. It says, “the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.” Money can build schools, create jobs, fund missions, and solve problems. But when money becomes the object of your affection, it begins to corrupt your heart. A person who loves money will be tempted to compromise values, ignore conscience, and abandon purpose. The problem is not the money. The problem is the position money occupies in the heart.

The Bible repeatedly warns about the corrupting power of lust and greed. 2 Peter speaks about escaping “the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.” Greed has a way of disguising itself. Sometimes it appears as ambition. Sometimes it even wears religious clothing. A person can convince himself that he is pursuing wealth for God while actually pursuing wealth for selfish purposes. This is why believers must be careful. Not every desire for more is a godly desire. Some people want more money, more influence, and more success simply to satisfy pride, or personal cravings. The language may sound spiritual, but the motive is still greed.

Take a moment today and examine your heart. Why do you want more? Why do you want a bigger business, a larger platform, or greater wealth? Is it because you love God, love people, and want to serve your generation more? Or is it because you want recognition, comfort, and status? The answers matter. A love for mission will lead to service. A love for money will eventually lead to bondage. God has no problem with His children having resources. What He opposes is resources having His children. Grow your influence. Expand your impact. But never allow the tool to become the treasure.

Many believers have good intentions. They want to help people. They want to make a difference in their generation. But good intentions alone do not change the world. Every mission requires resources. Every vision requires fuel. Business is impact, and the level of your business determines the scale of your impact. A business generating a few million naira and a business generating a few billion naira are not mates. One may affect a neighbourhood. The other may affect an entire nation. If God has placed a large assignment in your heart, you must learn to think about the resources needed to sustain it.

Consider the influence of someone like Aliko Dangote on the Nigerian economy. His companies employ thousands of people, move billions of naira, and affect entire industries. The refinery alone has influenced conversations around fuel, foreign exchange, energy security, and economic development. Whether in business, government, ministry, or education, large-scale impact requires large-scale resources. Even the great church buildings, universities, hospitals, and outreach programmes we admire today were not built by prayer alone. Prayer came first, but planning, stewardship, investment, and financial intelligence followed. Great visions require serious capital. It is an important part of the conversation.

If you want to watch the world and steer it towards where God wants, you have to master money. It begins with understanding that money is not a necessary evil. Money is a tool. A tool you have to master for destiny. If you do not master how money and the financial system of your world works, you’ll be at a permanent disadvantage. It will be hard to do the work God has committed to you. Learn how capital flows. Learn how resources are multiplied. The mission may be spiritual, but the world it seeks to influence runs on very practical systems.

Many people think compassion and business belong in different worlds. Compassion belongs in charity. Business belongs in making money. The Bible paints a more complete picture. A business that serves people well creates value, solves problems, and generates resources. Those resources allow the work to continue. This is why wise business owners should not be ashamed of profit. Profit is not greed. Profit is what allows the mission to survive. A business that runs out of money cannot help anyone for very long. Good intentions are important, but good intentions alone do not pay salaries, serve customers, or keep the doors open.

Jesus taught the principle of multiplication in the Parable of the Talents. The servants who increased what was entrusted to them were commended. The servant who failed to produce anything was rebuked. Growth mattered. Stewardship mattered. Results mattered. The same principle applies in business today. Every month a healthy business pays salaries, families are fed. Suppliers receive income. Customers receive solutions. Opportunities are created for others to grow. When cash flows through a business, value flows through a community. What many people call “profit” is often the mechanism that allows the business to keep serving people year after year.

Look beyond the numbers for a moment. Your business is not just a source of income. It is a vehicle for impact. The stronger the cash flow, the more people you can employ. The stronger the cash flow, the more customers you can serve. The stronger the cash flow, the more stable your mission becomes. A struggling business cannot help many people. A thriving business can become a blessing to an entire community. Do not feel guilty about building a profitable business. Build something useful. Build something valuable. Build something sustainable. Sometimes, cash flow is not the opposite of compassion. Sometimes, cash flow is compassion in action.

Money is not good. Money is not bad. Money is a tool. In the hands of a generous person, money can feed the hungry, build schools, fund research, create jobs, and solve problems. In the hands of a wicked person, money can be used to spread corruption, oppression, and destruction. The money itself is neither holy nor evil. It amplifies the intentions of the person using it. This is why mission-driven people should not fear money. If God has placed a burden in your heart to serve people and make a difference, then money is one of the tools that can help you do that at a greater scale.

Think about some of the biggest missions operating in the world today. Whether people agree with them or not, many continue to influence millions because they have the money to keep going. Consider Bill Gates. Over the years, he has directed enormous resources toward causes he believes matter. Agree or disagree with his priorities, the principle remains the same: resources give a mission staying power. A good idea without funding will struggle. A mission with vision, leadership, and resources can keep solving problems for years. Money allows a mission to hire people, build systems, reach more communities, and remain active long after the excitement of the beginning has faded.

Now imagine your mission with ten times the resources. What more could you build? Who else could you serve? How many more lives could you touch? Many people think of money only in terms of personal comfort, but you must learn to think beyond yourself. The goal is not to worship money. The goal is to use money well. If God has given you an assignment, do not be afraid to pray for resources, build wealth, and create value. Making money is not the mission, but it can help take the mission to the next level. The greater the vision, the greater the need for wise stewardship of resources.
