Epic SW day with an audience. Bunch of drunk people on sandbar really appreciated the massive boosts we were getting in the butter flat water on the lee side of the sandbar! The 8 Razor really jumps! And effortless loops, wish it was 20+ all the time

Downy fr fort to 28.5 w/ Walt. Trotman met us 1/2 way. Good length ride. Air and H2O in the 70s, steady wind, bit cloudy, nice waves, flat water in spots near shoreline. Rode for while o/s 28.5 (low tide), not many riders out. Close to perfect riding as possible??

Had a couple great sessions this past weekend at Hatteras. We camped right on the sound. Friday and Saturday the wind was sketchy and side-off from the NorthEast on Friday and from the SouthEast on Saturday...couple attempted sessions, but wind was light Friday and extremely gusty on Saturday...not much to speak of. Sunday however was GREAT! Got two 2-hour sessions in. First session was WNW 18-20...which allowed for some really long tacks between Kitty Hawk Kites and Real. Was riding my new 2010 Spleene Door to work on upwind....not a problem on that board for sure...a bit overpowered with the door, but fun! 2nd session was in the evening with very smooth SSW 18-22. I took the 132 board out and had no problem driving upwind....again, great feeling of empowerement to "know" you can go where you want. With the upwind dialed in, it was time to take my first jumps. Had a couple slight lifts and skimmed a foot or two above the water....mainly working on what I had read about getting the kite back down in the power to ride it off. Started getting a little more aggresive sending the kite and had a few successful 5-10 ft. height I guess (probably less, but it felt good anyway...HA!). Then after building some confidence having ridden a few away, decided to build more board speed, load up the lines and really drive the kite up.....word to those attempting your first jumps: driving the kite up is good....driving the kite to far back.....NOT SO GOOD....HA! Sure gets you a lot of boost, but when you pendulum all the way under the kite and slack the lines......you become a rock from 15 ft. up. Fortunately I'm not unfamiliar with hitting the water like that on botched double-ups behind the boat wakeboarding, so I knew what was coming on the decsent. I balled up and hit hard, but survived....gathered my composure, board, and relaunced for about 30 more minutes of riding in a perfect sunset that was just beginning to touch the water. Settling down and just cruising with the sunset and about 75 other kites in view across the horizon after some great upwind success, a few toe to heelside transitions, and my first successful jumps really made for a great end to some good sessions!

Light winds, bit up and down. Very light near the sandbar, tide going out, near low tide. Interesting. Nothing special, just fun ride.

1st session of 2011

Was visiting Houston on business and prior to going had researched and found the Texas City Levee as a great beginner spot...shallow, flat water. Water temp was in the 70's, air temp was 82 and sunny. Traveled with my kite/harness only, but was able to rent a board from the XLKite crew while they were there giving lessons. Great bunch of folks....let me pay a rental fee and have access to all the boards they had in the van. Session was great for me....maintained and progressed upwind on a light wind board and also on a 140. Also went toe-side for the first time under a kite, and did some gradual toe to heel-side carve transitions. Main success was the progressing upwind and staying there at will....pretty darn good feeling! Overall a great session, nothing too exciting other than to getting to kite in march in warm water and warm air...board shorts only!!!!!

Wind seemed ok, not a great ride. Maybe too much current going w/ the wind. Did intentionally unhook twice to try. Nothing went bad. Have to try that one again so it becomes smoother. Looping down on toeside turn coming along. This day was good to get out, that's about all.

Nice sunny day, chill in air. SW, waves disorganized and small. Good day to jump, back roll and front roll. Swore I'd ditch the booties for the season, what a mistake. Feet got cold. Good Session overall.

NE 16-20, Sunny, somewhat clean waves. Rode "Long Ashes" the entire session. How many times/ways can one say "what fun!"? One of those days to remember. Saw some I haven't seen in awhile - James and Mike. Nice riding with you, Igor. Got rid of the booties, thank goodness.

S/SW wind. Bit light when I arrived. picked up strong during 1st session. 13M, crossover bd. Top end of range, went in to change kites and board. 10M. Kite and bd combo took some getting used to. waves vg. Long walk in @ low tide. fun afternoon!

Spring is here... no hat, SW winds... pretty soon the gloves and booties gone, oh yea
