Antes de nada quiero agradeceros el haberme dado la oportunidad de compartir “mi mundo” con vosotros. Sois increíbles y en este tiempo he conocido a gente igualmente increíble y creativa.

Este es el último post de Watermelon is a color. ¿Por qué? Porque quiero comenzar una nueva etapa y para ello que mejor que un nuevo nombre, un nuevo diseño y un nuevo rumbo (es en lo que llevo trabajando estos meses que he estado tan callada).

First of all I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to share “my world” with you. You are amazing and this time I have met people equally amazing and creative.

This will be the last post of Watermelon is a color. Why? Because I want to start a new period and so I have decided to choose a new name, a new design and a new direction (this is what I’ve been working on these months that I’ve been so quiet).

Mi nuevo proyecto se llama “Hodei“, que significa nube en euskera (pronunciado “odéi”). Se trata de una tienda online en la que quiero acercaros todas esas fantásticas cosas que siempre os muestro, pero que están tan lejos. Además, no os preocupéis porque voy a seguir posteando en el nuevo blog de la misma forma que lo hacía en Watermelon is a color.

Os espero en Hodei, con las mismas ganas e ilusión que hasta ahora.

My new project is called “Hodei” which means cloud in Basque (pronounced “odei”). This is an online store where I bring all those things that I always talk about and from now on they will be closer than ever. Ahhh and don’t worry because I will keep posting on the new blog in the same way that I did in Watermelon is a color.

Un paseo por el Festivalet

El fin de semana pasado se celebró en Barcelona la 4ª edición del Festivalet. Una feria donde se reunen diferentes crafters para mostrar y vender sus productos.

The last weekend took place the 4th edition of Festivalet in the city of Barcelona. A fair where different crafters meet to display and sell their products.

Es un evento al que asisto cada año y que poco a poco está creciendo y convirtiéndose en un referente. Según la organización del festival, a está edición han asistido 8.000 personas. ¡Todo un éxito!

Si tuviese que destacar algo, me gustaría mencionar que los productos de Depeapa son aún más bonitos de lo que imaginaba y lo mismo digo de los de Olula se casa (no pude resistirme a comprar algo). Ahhh y no quiero olvidarme de Dumbo, cuyo estand estaba lleno de detallitos y cuya colección Walden es “lo más”. :)

It’s an event I attend every year, it is slowly growing and becoming a benchmark. According to the organization of the festival, this edition was attended by 8,000 people. What a success!

If I had to highlight something about the fair, I should mention that the Depeapa’s products are even more beautiful than I expected and the same goes for Olula se casa (I could not resist to buy something). Ahhh I do not want to forget about Dumbo, whose booth was full of little pretty details and whose Walden Collection is “the best”. :)

Wildwood, un libro para soñar despierto

La historia fue escrita por Colin Meloy (cantante de Decemberists) e ilustrada por Carson Ellis. Juntos hacen de este libro un regalo muy especial para estas navidades.

{ Color Factory } Appealing mint

Reutilizar perchas para el jardín

Hoy quiero proponeros un sencillo tutorial para aprovechar las perchas metálicas que os sobran.

Todos tenemos en el armario esas finas perchas que al colgar la ropa se doblan y acaba cayéndose todo. ¡Son desesperantes! :P

Today I want to propose you a simple tutorial to take advantage of metal hangers that you don’t longer use.

We all have, in the closet, these fine hangers, that when we hang clothes on them, they bend and everything just fall. They are exasperating! :P

Ahora podemos darles otro uso, uno más práctico y bonito, porque una de las reglas para cuidar este planeta es “reutilizar”.

Now we give them another use, a more practical and pretty one, because one of the rules to take care of this planet is “reuse”.

{ Color Factory } The power of pink

Ya está aquí de nuevo la sección Color Factory. Esta semana me ha costado encontrar inspiración, porque el rosa es un color que no se suele utilizar mucho en casa, así que espero que os guste.

Por cierto, también os dejo el enlace al post de hace dos semanas, en el que me atrevo con el amarillo, un color realmente fascinante.

Working with a wheel and clay

Siempre me ha resultado hipnótico ver a alguien trabajar con un torno, ver como transforma un rústico pedazo de arcilla en una taza, un jarrón, un plato,… todo ello con simples y precisos movimientos de manos y dedos.

Kim Westad es una neoyorquina, afincada en el Bronx, que con un torno y un poco de arcilla, crea preciosas piezas de cerámica. Lo que más me gusta son los colores que elige y el sencillo acabado de las piezas.

I have always found hypnotic seeing someone working with a wheel, how she transforms a rustic piece of clay into a cup, a vase, a plate,… all with simple and precise hand and finger movements.

Kim Westad is a New Yorker, who lives in the Bronx and creates beautiful pottery with a wheel and a bit of clay. What I like most is her taste choosing colors and the simple finish of the pieces.

Creo que algún día buscaré algún taller para aprender a utilizar el torno, parece tan relajante…

{ Color Factory } Un hogar muy zen

Hoy comienzo una colaboración en el blog de Deborah: Dumbo.

Storm in a tea cup

¿Os gustaría navegar dentro de una taza de té como hizo “Alicia en el país de las maravillas”?

Gracias a John Lumbus, que ha hecho un excelente trabajo con esta pequeña taza de edición limitada, podemos soñar con viajes imposibles bajo un clima tormentoso.

Would not you like to sail into a cup of tea like ”Alice in Wonderland” did?

Thanks to John Columbus, who has done an excellent job with this little limited edition cup, we can dream of impossible travels in stormy weather.

Y aunque la pieza está fuera de mi alcance, ya que ronda los 750€, no puedo dejar de admirarla y desear tenerla.

Un abrazo y nos os perdáis el próximo post con la segunda parte de “I love New York City”.

Creo que ha quedado claro donde he ido de vacaciones este verano, ¿verdad?. Era un viaje que hacía mucho que quería hacer y creo que todo el mundo debería ir al menos una vez en su vida.

Voy a dividir este post en dos: uno en el que hablaré de mis impresiones sobre la ciudad y otro en el que hablaré de algunas tiendas y barrios que visité y que tienen que ver con el blog.

New York es una ciudad que conocemos a través de muchas películas y eso hizo que viajase con ideas preconcebidas sobre la gente, la gastronomía, los barrios… Pero cuando estás allí, mirando cara a cara a los neoyorquinos y disfrutando de cada rincón, todo se ve real e intenso.

I think it has become clear where I’ve gone on vacation this summer, right?. It was a trip I had long wanted to do and I think everyone should go at least once in their life.

I’ll break this post into two: one in which I will talk about my impressions of the city and another in which I will talk about some shops and neighborhoods I visited that they have to do with the blog.

New York is a city we know through many movies and that made me travel with preconceived ideas about people, cuisine, neighborhoods… But when you’re there, face to face with new yorkers and enjoying every corner, all seem so real and intense.

Espero que os haya gustado este pequeño resumen de unas vacaciones que jamás olvidaré.
