On Saturday, September 4th I was back in Toronto to capture the frenzy that was Halo, thanks to a friend of mine.
Drill sergeants, uniform distribution and a mission briefing kicked off the event that lead straight into laser tag. All ages of the community came out to participate, and the intensity of the game showed on everyone’s faces. After completing the mission, teams filtered into the tent to test their skills on Halo Reach, or to pre-order the game online.

Halo Reach is set to launch on September 14th. Join the Xbox Canada Facebook page to keep up with info & events!

Over the past couple of years I’ve hosted my photos on a variety of websites, like Flickr, Photobucket, Facebook, Zenfolio, and my own website.

I’m contemplating now which website I want to dedicate wholeheartedly to.

I don’t want to be dishing out money to various hosting sites.

How to choose?!

I love Flickr. There are lots of fabulous photographers I “follow” on there and can leave/receive comments on photos. Discussion boards, groups, and I love how Flickr can resize my images automatically, so I can use them elsewhere (ie, this blog!)

But… I love the funtionality of Zenfolio. I can arrange photos in private folders (also with Flickr) but clients can easily place orders (not so with Flickr). Also, every photo I upload to Zenfolio can have a watermark applied, instead of editing photos separately.

Decisions, decisions.

If both websites were free, there would be no discussion. However, I’m paying $100/year for Zenfolio, and $40/year for Flickr. I suppose it comes down to… how many orders and I really getting through Zenfolio, and is it paying for itself? I’m pretty sure I could handle orders using Flickr, it would just take a bit more concentration and a couple extra minutes.

I’m curious what other photographers use for hosting images and order handling. Thoughts? Suggestions?

It was a very hot day… but the water was perfect for jumping in. After the 90+minute ferry ride, I rented a bike for a couple hours and went for a bit of a ride. After that, there was no stopping me from jumping into Lake Erie. Yes, fully clothed.

I got a sunburn with my sunscreen, a few mosquito bites, and plenty of photo opportunities. See the slideshow below and click the link to see the individual photos. (PS – you can buy any of the prints you see here as well!)

I first met Angela & Doug through a mutual friend. Just a few days later we sat down at a chic cafe uptown Waterloo, where we discussed wedding photography, and photography in general for a couple hours.
They have an upcoming wedding this October, so at the end of June we got together for their engagement session!

We drove out past Guelph during an intense rain & thunderstorm, but by the time we arrived to our destination the sun was shining – with the thunder still rolling in the skies above. It was really amazing!

Here are a few samples from our time together… thanks guys!

We went cruising along Riverside Drive last night. I could only think of so many beautiful photos I could capture if only I’d had my camera with me (I only had my cellphone camera). It was a relatively clear night.

I hope to get back over there today, and maybe, just maybe cross over to Detroit to meet up with a couple friends. We’ll see!

Have a safe weekend everyone!
