So lets jump right into it, when and where was your least enjoyable or most difficult set?

Dap: Lausanne, Switzerland was our worst/best show ever. Completely unresponsive crowd, a small green room we had to share with two, large bands and it was two weeks into a European tour with no days off.

KOOL A.D.: That Libyan dude's birthday party was wack, we had to give all the money back.

How is Das Racist's reception outside the US?

Dap: The music and shows are still predominantly enjoyed by white people. Even in Korea and China! Maybe that will change our next time around. Rap fans outside the United states (and especially outside of New York) are generally way more enthusiastic. sometimes they dance at inappropriate times, though. Hmmm..

KOOL A.D.: We're only touring in Africa from now on.

Any stories worth sharing about a gig abroad?

Dap: I stayed up really late one night in Berlin.

KOOL A.D.: I got drunk a lot, smoked weed and occasionally had sex.

What would you be doing if you werent full time rappers/mcs/hipsters?

KOOL A.D.: I would go back to selling crack cocaine.

Dap: I'd be maintaining a website for a law school (unless I got fired).

Nintendo or Sega?

Dap: Sega, even though Nintendo was probably superior. I owned a PlayStation as my last "gaming system" and played Final Fantasy & obsessively for two weeks and never played a game again until years later when me and my roommates would play Crash Team Racing constantly.

KOOL A.D.: Swimming in a lake.

What would be your dream collabo? (dead or alive)

Dap: Stevie Ray Vaughn, dude, who else?

KOOL A.D.: Def SRV bro.

What did you make of your time in Buffalo?

Dap: Buffalo was nice, the buildings were quite nice and the streets were wide. Didn't see quite enough of it.

KOOL A.D.: Before the show I watched The Adjustment Bureau in the theater next to the hotel, it was stupid. It was the first movie I had seen in a theater since Avatar, which was also stupid.

Get a chance to savor some of the city's fine cuisine?

Dap: Had bad pizza and decent thai food at an overpriced restaurant. I don't eat flesh so maybe that limited my options.

KOOL A.D.: I had sashimi at that overpriced restaurant.

What trend do you hate that's poppin off in New York City right now?

Dap: Me not being there.

What initially attracted you to EDM, and in particular house music?

going out to clubs in Tijuana, Mexico when i was underage.

Were you ever interested in pursuing a traditional musical career?

it was always a hobbie. i never thought of it as being a career one day.

Which came first, the producer or the DJ?

Producer.

Your signature style ranges from spatial progressive house to dirty ghetto jacking Detroit/Chicago, please elaborate on why that is.

I have always been into a variety of different sounds in music so when i make music, all those different sounds come together and make this Harvard Bass sound.

Does your Mexican heritage play a role in the way you approach your productions and/or DJing?

a bit, yes.

Is there a place for you in the scene down in Mexico? And if so, how is your reception in the Mexican circuit?

Mexico is so diverse when it comes to the music culture. it actually reminds me a lot of a european crowd. the reception is very well. I love Mexico.

Let's get a little personal, tell us about your hobbies outside of the music realm. Do any of them reflect your personality as a producer/DJ?

well, I like to skateboard and play golf when i get a chance and spend time with friends & family. simple stuff. i don't know how these would reflect my personality as a producer/DJ though. I try to do stuff that is totally opposite of producing and djing when i get a chance to.

Who in particular or what are you currently enjoying musically? (What's on your ipod, or who are you listening to on a trip to the supermarket?)

I have been listening to Sei A and James Blake a lot and a bunch of ignorant Rap music such as French Montana, Soulja Boy and Earl Sweatshirt.

How do you prep for big gig?

I listen to promos, Burn some CDs, look over my cd case and wonder which track i can start off with. after all that i try to just to not think much about the gig. I will just maybe listen to some classical music or something random.

As a fan, what would be your ideal lineup for a show? (EDM and non-EDM)

that would be like every producer i like. im just gonna name a few.

DJ Pierre, Carl Craig, The Martin Brothers, Green Velvet, Marc Houle, DJ Sneak, Tiga, 2 Many DJs

something like that.

Having immediate success as a producer, what do you enjoy more remixing or creating original music?

Both. when i get to remix im excited. when i work on originals, i get excited. but i guess there is nothing like creating your own original sound to play out.

What remix projects have you enjoyed the most and which have been the most difficult?

well i tend to pick the projects that i find will be enjoyable or else i would not work on them.

Have you been to Buffalo before Factory Nightlife and The Queen City Cartel invited you out? And what did you think of your time spent in Buffalo (be honest, lol)

Yes! its wild! Buffalo has a very good crowd that likes to dance and i like that! buffalo is a beautiful city as well. especially when its covered in snow!

What can we expect from you in the Spring/Summer months?

Some Remixes, a new ep, and new collabs. oh and also a brand new website! (finally)

Finally, what advice do you have for up and coming producers/DJ contemplating EDM?

Do what you want to do just be creative and innovative with it. :)
