Jason (not real name) is a dude from Chicago who wants to “hustle, grind” and become an entrepreneur.

He follows all guys that he thinks are top guys, like Gary Vee, or similar folks.

He gets up every day and works on generating business ideas for his next big thing.

He spent a ton of time focusing on a “cool” name for his new thing. He likes it, and now his FB profile photo is that new logo which he got by getting a dude on fiverr for $5.

This was an MLM scheme he thought was gonna be cool and make him rich.

He wanted to be that cool kid on the block where he could show off his nice shiny things on his FB profile and watch comments from his old high school pals and family.

Turns out that MLM thing didn’t work out cause it was a kinda-sorta scam, and he jumped into the next thing, that he KNOW for a fact that is going to get him some cash for his new PlayStation.

That was being a YouTuber!

Yep, didn’t work out.

Then he thought about selling some guide on losing weight, he put that thing up, his copy sucked and he never bothered to work on fixing some holes in that thing and thought it bombed and abandoned it.

Then he started working on this site where he thought he could sell a bunch of ads promoting some cheap click bank products and do what dem affiliates do!

And tried his hand on affiliate marketing.

He made $10 from it.

So now he is depressed.

All of the sudden a man comes on YouTube when he was sitting on the toilet watching fail compilation on his phone, and tells him that in his garage he just bought a new Lambo, but he likes those books (that for some reason he decided to store in his garage) more cause he got a hard-on for reading.

So he started following him on social media and invested in some of his very vague and expensive “secrets” that turned out to be some rebadge info from the books like “the secret.”

Now, I dunno about you but I have serious trust issues with men who drive or own a Lambo.

Cause he is either a bullshit scammer or a giant douche.

Or maybe not, but so many of these guys use Lambos in their videos that I have developed a few trust issues with people who own them.

Anyway, then this guy who Jason was following, told him to check out this guy who will show him how to build an eCommerce business, Jason jumped on that opportunity but never followed up on it…

Because then the same guy told Jason again to follow this another guy who will teach him “high ticket” consulting thing!

Now Jason is stuck, both looks good.

Then Another guy told him to try apps! Mobile native apps!

And Jason decided to do ALL THREE.

He never focused on one of them and spent all the cash he made as a cashier at Walgreens on their programs hopping on one opportunity to another and even maxed out his CC.

What happened after this?

As a result of watered down focus, he failed at all three.

He invested all the cash in several of these “programs” instead of focusing on one and didn’t have enough cash left to buy even $200 worth of ads.

He focused on doing several things, lacked commitment to one because he wanted to do it all to play it safe.

He thought – “what if one of these gigs failed?”

He took the bait and treated these things like just another gig.

He never made it, and bounced on one opportunity to another, just like a grasshopper.

Jason wanted to be an entrepreneur and I have a term for people like him – Grasshopper Wantrepreneur…

The point I’m trying to make is very simple.

You can move mountains if your focus is sharp and not watered down

If you focus on ONE THING

If you’re COMMITTED TO THAT ONE THING

If you know how to say NO when every inch of bone in your body is screaming that this totally new gig is something you must do.

Then regardless of how difficult that thing you wanna do is, you won’t fail.

Yes, there will be setbacks, but you’ll keep coming back.

The quality focus is extremely powerful.

Ya see the moment you focus on something else that dilutes your focus from your primary business, you’re done.

Sure there will be times you’ll say, oh I could do both of these things without having this one affect the former, but you have to ask yourself, what if you put the money & time you were thinking about putting into this new thing, what if you put it in your primary thing?

What if you could take it just a little step further?

You could become an unbeatable force in that niche.

There are a lot of people who bounce from one opportunity to another and never stick to one thing.

I do not want to entertain people who do this and are on my list.

So if you’re on one of my email lists then please unsubscribe. I do not want anyone unfocused in my community because I know how that will go.

There are a lot of people I’m seeing these days, that want to build a SaaS business, then they also want to start 10 different things at the same time, form more partnerships in businesses they don’t fully control.

See, I’m not against people who try “side gigs.”

But I’ve tried working on several things at once, it never works out.

What I’m saying is if you are just starting out, and you focus on several different things and not stick to one thing, you’re simply bouncing from one opportunity to another and it will never work out.

Talk Soon
Wayne

P.S. – I didn’t proof read this post and well aware of my shitty grammar. Now turn that gas oven off you Grammar Nazi.

This is just something cool we learned, even though this is one of the basics of direct response.

I thought it would be nice to share it with you in this post.

So we ran a product launch this week and the landing page conversions were obscenely high.

We couldn’t quite figure out what in the hell was going on, is our tracking wrong? or Is it something else?

Then I double checked the numbers by matching the numbers with GT webinar optins.

It checked out!

The lander was normal, nothing too flashy I wrote the copy in like 15 minutes.

So what made this lander convert like crazy?

The big difference was “PRE-SELLING.”

Basically, we did a great job by using ads to pre-sold the big idea behind the webinar, why we’re doing it and what they’ll get.

Over, and over, again and again.

One of the things you can try is using retargeting ads to distribute launch “nuggets.”

Which is what I call small pieces of content that build up goodwill and establish you as a cool guy in the niche.

And these small pieces of content builds on towards your main webinar. Like leading them in a linear way.

Another thing is that the event HAS to be an EVENT. (event = webinar)

So you can’t pull off those pre-recorded stuff that everyone and their dog is preaching about.

And you have to prove that it would be live too, because if you’re using webinarJam, it looks way too similar to Ever Webinar.

I do it by using GT webinar. But you can use something else too.

Another thing that we’ll be testing is mass broadcast, like using Periscope, Snapchat, FB lives Youtube Live all at the same time to distribute an event.

One really big name in “self-help” niche is doing that and having an amazing success. (can you guess his name? It starts with T and Ends with I)

Either way, I’ll let you know the results and maybe we’ll do one together straight from our St. Kitts event!

Until Then, Stay Frosty

Hey there,

I wanted to talk to you about some serious business…

This is one of the most important blog posts that I’ll ever put together for you and trust me it will be worth a read.

As I was preparing the material for SaaS Academy LIVE. I wrote down some ideas on what to talk about…

And this one was THE MOST IMPORTANT lesson that you will ever learn as an entrepreneur

As a matter of fact, it is so freakin’ important that I’m actually going to give it away to you for free.

You can learn those lessons here in this video, that I just uploaded on YouTube

Okay so why am I teaching this to everyone on my list?

Simple, I do not want you to quit based on some terrible gut wrenching anxious events that could put you on a chronic entrepreneurial anxiety like it did to me.

I got screwed over, I mismanaged my time and I made some terrible mistakes. Even the thought of those events makes a smarter and more experienced me cringe.

But there is no such thing as a painless lesson, what matters is how fast you adapt, learn and tweak your future judgements based on that experience…

Anxious little moments will happen to you in business, that’s just how it is.

The moments where you encounter uncertainties in predictable events.

I know that’s a complicated sentence, which is why you should watch this video where I simplified it a bit.

The gurus who preach hustle and grinding to succeed in business, working graveyard shifts are wrong.

It doesn’t HAS to be this way. We let our uncontrolled motivation and unaligned desires take control over how we work, and dismantle our efficiency.

And we get lost and don’t remember where the time went away…

We try to save some money and supplement it by spending our time instead, doing things that we shouldn’t be doing.

At the end of the day, why are you doing this?

For yourself or your family, right?

At the end of the day, I look back and see the hours and hours of me grinding and hustling every single day for almost a decade, I wish I would’ve known the process that I showed you in the video back when I was starting up.

There is nothing to buy, just a gesture of good will for staying with me for this long and being my active subscriber.

Anyway, here is what you’ll learn in the video:

Three most important lessons in business, that only experience can teach you

How to manage your time effectively

And how to make sure your business doesn’t make you its bitch (pardon my french)

I also, later on explored on how to build a FULLY autopilot SaaS business by modeling a business called AMNforms.com

Which was refreshing since I’m really freaking good at high ticket model which makes several times more money but niche SaaS sites like this one are extremely awesome for a second source of income which doesn’t require any work what so ever, maybe customer support.

They’re an awesome business which the owners are trying to sell for $800k and as I was reading their prospectus, it was amazing how they built is without any inbound marketing BS.

Simple SaaS that solves a problem, they built it for $4k and generated traffic via simple PPC in a niche that doesn’t has that much of a competition and boom, 17k net revenue each month with criminally low traffic costs, only 2% churn and 5% monthly growth.

Let me know what your thoughts by emailing me at w[AT]thrib.com

Stay Frosty and Stop Drinkin’ The Kool-Aid

Wayne

At the end of our lives, we will only wish for more time, and not more money.

Yesterday I sat down with a client and nailed down a strategy for a product launch.

And boy was I excited.

The reason was the process that we mapped out. And that process was designed in a way to convert targeted traffic into “true fans” before we even reveal our product to them.

Now the product that we are preparing is a game franchise.

If you’re in mobile gaming space then you know how awfully fragmented it is right there.

Everybody and their dog had launched a copycat game, that makes a buck here and there and then disappears into the oblivion after a while.

Or worst, some people build a game around an on-going trend.

Which sucks because what they’re doing is building their product around someone else’s brand that they can’t control or own.

As soon as the trend goes down, so does the game.

And yeah sure, I know that these trend based products are cheap products designed to capitalize on it.

But ask yourself this question:

=> Why are you building your product?

=> What is the purpose of your product in the market?

Can your product build a foundation of an entire business on its own? Or is it just a temporary product that you do not see yourself capitalizing on after, let’s say 2 years?

– EXAMPLES –

In gaming, you might have heard of titles, like Assassin’s Creed or Hitman, or GTA by Rockstar games.

These are massive IPs of companies and these products have built an entire foundation of a brand all in itself.

Hollywood has adopted a similar model of franchising an IP (you’ve seen Hollywood making the same movie over and over again, right?)

Hell even some indie game developers have done similar things with games like Republiq, Hotline Miami etc.

In internet marketing, Jeff & Jon Walker created a product called – The Product Launch Formula that built a foundation of their business and it still is THE foundation of their business.

My good friend Trey Smith created a SaaS called Build Box and has pulled off the similar kinda effect.

Let’s look at some examples in hardware:

For Apple, iPhone became a giant franchise of a product that revolutionized their business and made them an awfully valuable company in the world.

And the list goes on and on…

So my point is, ask yourself that the product that you’re building, can it bring a similar effect on your business?

Ya see, a lot of people think extremely short term, and end up selling coaching, where they exchange their time for money, similar to a job and then call it “freedom.”

Or they sell gimmicks that doesn’t last longer than a bottle of wine on a Friday night after an extremely anxious week.

I’ve followed a similar strategy by building SaaS Academy, which is the foundation of our entire incubator at the moment.

So back to the point:

If you’re one of our platinum members, then you’ve already seen this strategy that I’ve laid down for this client.

Basically to give you a general idea, we built a funnel that is designed to push people forward and at every single step they become more and more invested in the story of the game and become attached to the product.

Without making it too complicated for the sake simplicity, this will allow us to generate more “true fans.”

And that leverage will allow us to create some other viral promotional campaigns and launch the product as if we’re building a franchise.

So to sum it up, on a paper, write down the answers of these questions, reflect/review on them the next day:

1. Why are you REALLY building that product?

2. What is the primary purpose of your product in the market?

3. Can this product help you build a business all on its own?

4. Can this product become a franchise that’ll last a long time, can it pull a similar effect like the ones listed in the examples above for your particular niche?

5. What is one thing that your product does differently that makes it a BETTER solution than competitors? (for SaaS products)

6. How does your product aligns with your long-term vision as an entrepreneur?

Most people don’t think about things like this before starting to work on a project.

Now the process requires a bit more brainstorming than what I just laid out here, but I think you got the idea…

If you do it, then you’ll do an exercise that most entrepreneurs or “hustlers” don’t do at all and you’ll have a super high chance of knocking it out of the park and BE HAPPY with what your product brought to you as an entrepreneur and to your business.

This is easier to do with a SaaS business because here you have no choice BUT to build a product with this specific strategy in mind.

Anyway, hope you have a great week, I’m working on SaaS Academy LIVE this entire week and it looks like we’re gonna host it at St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino with amazing speakers TBD.

If you’re on my list then you’ll get an email with further details soon.

Till then, stay frosty

– Wayne

You’re going to like this post. I’m Going To Show You Why My Cat Would Probably Be A Better Trader Than Most People. Seriously.

I’ve got a cat, Frankie. When I first saw him he was just a stray kitten roaming around the neighborhood with his momma and sibling cats.

Come winter the momma cat and the other kittens had disappeared, but Frankie was still around. He more or less adopted the area under my porch as his home.

I started to feed him, give him fresh water after awhile. The first few times I did that it was because I wanted to make sure he had something to eat and all this. After I’d fed him a couple of times the little jerk got on a schedule. I usually wake up around 4am, Exercise, shower, eat plan my day and then start working around 4:45.

So Frankie gets this schedule of his down. He shows up around 5am every morning and then again around 3:30-4pm. Once I’d been doing that for a while he acted as though I’d entered into a binding contract with him to provide food and water twice a day. If I did not have anything out he come up to the door and just howl and groan and cry. Then he would take his little paws and just keep pitter pattering em on the door until I got sick of his patheticness and gave him food.

All through the summer and into fall it keeps going on the same. Then we had our first big winter storm. So as I was sitting there watching the snow fall and blow, listening to the wind howell I got to feeling a little bad for him. I decided to try bribing him with scrambled eggs to come out.

He comes out and I grab him.

Totally mayhem! He’s digging every claw he’s got into me, he’s biting me so much and so hard I sorta had to wonder if he thought he was trying out to replace the villain in Jaws!

When I was in my early teens I used to get in a lot of fights, mostly because my cousin and I were idiots. We came up with some grand plan that if we beat the crap out of all the guys in town a few years older than us surely the girls would realize how studly we were. It didn’t work out exactly as planned because we forgot to take into account that a lot of the guys we’d be fighting with would be brothers or cousins and whatnot of these girls we wanted to have like us. It kinda backfired because not only did they not end up liking us, plenty ended up straight out hating us. I guess 13/14 year olds have never been known for good strategic planning.

Anyway, I got off on a tangent there, I’m sorry. But the reason I brought it up to talk a little more about Frank.

He was freaking tough. He did more damage to me in about 20 seconds than what a lot of people did in a fist fight.

Once I had him in he was pretty chill and basically just wanted to be laying around.

A few days later the snows all cleared up and its getting a bit warmer, so I figure it’s time for Frankie to hit the bricks.

He must have thought we had a brand new contract and I was screwing him over though, because when he realized I was gonna be putting him back outside he went crazy and tried to tear me up again. It was worse than when I tried to bring him in.

So this is about 8am. Right away he’s standing at the door howling and groaning and crying. I had my office in a walkout basement and he walked around and got up in the window down there to make sure I knew how pathetic he was. This went on until about 1. When he finally left I was so excited I almost wanted to have a party.

But, I should have been smart enough to realize that this wouldn’t be the end of it.

Around 930 he shows up again. Same thing. Gets to be 10, same thing. 11, same bs. Its getting to be about fifteen minutes to midnight and I’m sitting there thinking doesn’t his damn throat get sore or something?!!

I finally go outside and sit on the bench. He jumps up onto my lap and is pretty happy, purring, knocking his head into me etc. I’m losing my resolve not to let him come live in the house. As we were sitting there I tried to explain to him that you know, hey – it might be warmer in there in the winter and cooler in the summer with a regular meal schedule, but if you’re gonna live in the house I’m gonna have to get your balls cut off.

I mean if someone told me I could only live with them if I got my balls cut off, you’d think my tennis shoes were jet engines- cos I’d be flying and getting as far away from you as quickly as I could.

But, he stayed, seemed that he agreed. So now I’ve had this cat for five or six years or whatever.

Frankie knew what he wanted.

He was determined to get it.

And he was annoyingly persistent.

He refused to take no for an answer.

So now all of this brings me to my final point here.

The thing that really amazes me, sometimes even makes me feel a little bad is this: I like to share a little bit of my knowledge with people sometimes. I’ve made good money online for 15 or so years. I talk to a lot of people who are starting a business online. Almost every day I’ll talk to at least a few people. I don’t do any type of coaching or anything like that, I’m busy enough as it is with my other businesses, but sometimes I’ll just talk to a person for a few minutes and try to help em out.

Most people just give up. They will only try once and then leave. A few might try twice and if a person has actually tried three times most of em act like I should be giving them a medal!

Well, the world, and certainly nobody in business, is going to be giving you a medal just because you think you should have been successful by now cos ya tried two or three whole times!

So what – only the persistent get what they want. If a stupid mangy stray alley cat can figure that shit out, why can’t most people?

What is the true value of what you provide?

Why are you not charging for it?

I know people have a lot of excuses. I talk to people all of the time who are worried about what the “others” in their industry will think of them. (“Others” who are also not charging enough and unhappy with the amount of money they are making).

Not charging enough and not pushing hard enough to make your sale, because Heaven forbid you feel like a “salesman” are two of the biggest problems I see.

Here’s an example:

I’ve got a client who is a couples crisis therapist. She works with people who are basically going to be filing for divorce yesterday, if possible sooner. They have reached their wits end with each other and reaching out to her is their last grasp effort to save their marriage, their family.

Prior to working with me she was charging $300 for a 75-minute session. Why $300? Because that’s what “everyone else” charged too. So she would see approximately 4 or 5 couples per day plus twice a week have a large group session. Fifteen hundred bucks a day doesn’t sound too bad, but anyone who’s been in business knows that your Gross is not your Net.

She was also stuck in a situation that her only option was to trade time for dollars. But she didn’t know how to get around it.

The first thing I had to do was help her see the value of the service she is providing. She has a success rate that’s about 30% better than her industry peers. She was so stuck in the “what everyone else” charges mindset she couldn’t even bring herself to charge 30% more on her hourly rate than her peers. Gasp, because “What would the other (broke and unhappy) professionals think?”

But the first thing I wanted to help her do was to stop trading so much time for money. She was greatly resistant at first, but I convinced her to go through the entire process with me. We discovered that about 70-80% of what she does is the same with any couple. In other words, she’s repeating the exact same stuff 70 to 80% of the time.

After discovering this the first step was putting that into a course. Once it was “courseified” she’s now able to sell this package to clients. They go through it and this free’s up a lot of her time, and it also allows her to focus on the deep and unique issues each couple is facing, as opposed to just rehashing the same stuff with everyone.

The biggest struggle though was convincing her to charge more. If you sell the same way everyone else sells, you’re going to get about the same result.

But the key here is to sell on transformative value, not price.

What does that mean?

It means, in this example, what does a divorce cost you? What would be the value of saving that relationship?

I’ve been through one and it sucks. I don’t even like my ex anymore, the last time I had a real conversation with her was 6 or 7 years ago and to be honest even that is more than I’d like to talk her. But even I realize how costly that divorce was to me. House, business, savings. That doesn’t even count the emotional aspect.

If we had found someone who helped us that would have been a very valuable thing- certainly worth a hell of a lot more than $300 per 75 minutes. Personally, I think she should be charging $5000/$6000+, but for the time being I’ve not been able to get her above $2800. So now she sells 12 to 15 packages per week. This is obviously a huge financial win for her, she went from making under $300,000 a year to nearly $200,000 a month – but not only financial, it’s freed up a ton of her time as well, she works less and has less stress. Now she sees about 20 one one one’s per week. I haven’t been able to get her to go above $300 an hour on that, but on some level all clients suck and won’t do everything you tell them – and that’s ok.

Today I’m gonna talk about one strategy that drastically altered the reality of how I used to do business and serve my clients.

And lemme tell you one thing, a lot of industry veterans might hate on me for revealing this to you, they might call me names and stuff, though it won’t matter as it would reveal them to be a bit hypocritical. Because I know some of the biggest companies in the world do this too. (I’ll share an example below)

All righty, let’s begin!

So I was reading this article yesterday by Chris Janz and I instantly related to his message.

However, here is the thing, when I show the SA model to people, they think that it might be easier, faster and simpler for them to build a killer SaaS business.

I mean the kinda business that makes you filthy rich.

But here is the thing, you can use that model to take your business from $0 to $2 million in annual revenue easily.

Ya know, SaaS businesses aren’t that hard to take to that mark, as you could learn from that article linked above.

There is a reason why top marketers are making their entire businesses around SaaS apps.

SaaS apps are THE best medium to build a strategic, long-term and wildly profitable BUSINESSES that are sellable. It is also a direct way to instantly solve your prospect’s problem, ya see what we do different with SA model is how we SELL that SOLUTION, i.e. the approach or the business model.

And with SA model, you can do it in a way that your margins are super high since advertising costs are almost negligible too.

Though I do talk about hiring sales rep in advanced stages but let’s keep this simple for the sake of a simple conversation we’re having right now.

So, How do you go beyond that?

Meaning how do you scale it?

So I’ve been thinking about it and I think that “nichification” of same SaaS source would be one way to go.

For example, You create an employee/client management system for Real estate brokers, you can rebadge it and sell it to lawyers, or contractors or advertising agency, you get the idea.

I call this “SaaS Rebadging”

For those of you who’re familiar with “App Reskinning.” It’s almost the same thing but with SaaS apps.

Then what? We tested that and it was one of the biggest aha moments that motivated me to create an entire company that incubates such businesses for equity + fees.

However this can only be done with SaaS Academy model and the reason is because it’s cheap and effective.

Why?

Because people don’t buy “features” they buy “Solutions”

Same solutions that WORKS for different problems in different niches.

Accenture® does it using the same process as well. (where do you think I stole it from lol)

I just wanted to share this strategy with you guys, lemme know what you think.

– Wayne

P.S. – This is something on a whole another level, for SA members we reveal a level for successful alumni called “The network.” If you’re a SaaS member and have completed your first month in the program, you’ll learn how it’ll work…

That’s where we share and privately exchange/swap source codes in non-competing niches. It’s crazy what some folks are doing over there.

About the app: Doc&Do allows you to document things, ideas, logs, tasks and activities more effectively using a proven system.

The idea for this SaaS app came out of frustrations that Frank faced while running his own business. He found that effectively documenting things made things more intuitive and effective for him.

In his journey, Frank learned a lot and this case study will shed some light on those things.

About an year ago, Wayne and Frank had a phone call which changed the entire business model that Frank uses for selling Doc&Do.

When Frank and Wayne had their first call, Wayne told him about a weird and unique business model that very few people are trying.

That business model not only generates cash right away, but also funds your SaaS app, validates your idea and prevent you from spending too much on development.

Frank made a massive change and implemented that model.

This call, and the model Wayne and Frank will talk about has the potential to change the entire foundation of your business.

Most people sell SaaS using traditional model, which is why they go out of business really fast. However with the SaaS Academy model that you’re about to learn during this discussion, it’s exactly opposite.

I was having one of my usual dose of panic attacks that lasted over a decade.

I’m about to tell you a story of a crippling anxiety that almost killed me.

I sat down rubbing the pen on my head and started jotting down some notes and ideas on why it is all gonna be okay.

And I’ll somehow make it all work, I’ve started from the bottom, made a fortune and I’ll make it back again – I was trying to convince myself that it is going to be alright and I started randomly scratching the notebook until the pen ran out of ink.

Though it was sorta half way empty when I started scratching.

4 am, I finally got my breathing and heart rate under control, I was ready to go to bed in about an hour.

5 am, I had urges to give it all up and just stop everything, take all the money I already had and give up.

Maybe write a sci-fi novel I always wanted to write and live off of royalties from Amazon if it worked out. I was trying to rationalize what my emotions were suggesting me.

I said, all right, I’m gonna do that, next day I binge watched a bunch of episode of “Married with Children.”

I ate a lot of pizza and played some Half Life.

It went on and on, I started losing interest in all those activities too.

What the HELL was going on?

Is this what failure feels like?

The answer is NO. This is what DEPRESSION feels like.

And I realized if I don’t get my ass back to work as soon as possible, I might actually fucking die.

I’m either gonna pull the trigger or get back to what I was trying to build.

Next week, I got back at my desk, turned on my PC and my PSU got fried cause its fan died. I went to buy a replacement and with salty feeling in my mouth I started working…

And then I accepted my fate as it is, my life is going to be filled with hardship and it will be always like this.

What happened moments after that was about to change my life forever.

I realized that it is FINE. Here is why:

All I need to worry about is creating a fund that would pay off my living expenses for 3 years and I’m willing to go ALL IN.

And given that I don’t spend money like a 14-year-old, I already was sorta financially stable for 3 years…

You might be wondering, what happened that caused me to break down?

I’ll tell you what happened, I made a lot of money, and started a passion project.

I was burning through cash so fast it was insane. I could go bankrupt in 3 months.

I was under a lot of pressure, and fear.

And as things went on, it wasn’t rosy all the way to today, but I never went bankrupt and I’m extremely glad I stuck to that plan.

This is the reality of success.

You might screw up or you might not screw up but you WILL end up in situations where it would be extremely tempting to just give up.

To me, it was that month of January.

And it is in those moments when you need to hang tight and get into a mindset where you don’t let anxiety and frustrations cloud your judgement.

Which leads me into talking about today’s core subject and that is “gurus” showing off their Lambos, Ferraris and other cool toys to lure young wanna be entrepreneurs in and then trying to sell them basic rebadged crap from generic motivation speakers who’re dead.

But it gets worse, these days people make up a lot of numbers up too, like podcast download numbers, traffic numbers as well as social media following.

A lot of what looks real is nothing but phony numbers and I’ll show you how they do it.

This is one of the reasons why you WON’T see me flashing my car, my lake view penthouse and all things that may imply that I like to show off shiny objects and that I’m financially immature.

Why should I?

I don’t need to look rich for being one.

The flashy lifestyle you see actually makes these gurus look financially immature.

For example, instead of buying a car for $400k, I could simply put that money to work for me and build something that I’m proud of.

Instead of buying a 10 million dollar mansion, I could use that capital to start a technology company that allows average people to build an application via drag and drop interface and distribute it via a decentralized platform like Ethereum, permanently revolutionizing this space.

I could put some of this money and invest in companies and technologies that I personally believe in.

Heck I could use some of that cash to create a strong viral marketing campaign for that book project of mine if nothing else…

There are better ways to utilize money than making it rain on hookers, coke and booze, private yachts, obnoxious mansions and fast impractical sports cars that makes so much noise, makes me wonder how in the fucking hell are they street legal?

But it gets worst…

Kimanzi made a great point here in this article:

“Sadly, the marketing and hype persuade people to do business with these “house of cards” businesses. More times than not, the information purchased is designed for one thing: to get you to buy another product or service at a higher price. You get put in a funnel that will continually try to take your money. You’re promised even bigger opportunities and results if you buy the “elite” level program.”

He also talks about strategies like twitter bombing to boost the podcast download numbers up several times which are worthless.

I’ve seen people doing that with Facebook likes, followers on twitter and, of course, Instagram.

Go read that article, he made some staggering points there!

Now I understand some gurus uses this to attract people and try to sell them legit shit as they claim but if I do that two things are going to happen:

I’ll attract a crap load of wannabes who will never work on something with dedication

They’ll always be stuck in day dreaming mode and won’t get the results that they want

This is also one of the reason behind how I price my products, and how I structured Zielix Incubator’s enrollment process.

If I select people with right mindset from the get-go it just makes my life several time easier.

And another reason is the business model I’ve got working for myself. It makes me accountable for the SaaS businesses people build with the help of programs like SaaS Academy, The Network or Partner.

Heck, the Partner program I have is a program where I only work with 3 clients per year max on an equity basis.

The reason why I do things this way is because I’ve built my business on my own terms.

I do not want to attract people who get easily impressed by watching a dude on Instagram spending cash like a 14-year-old and then trying to sell them something that gives them false hope that they might replicate that “lifestyle.”

WHY?

Because I KNOW what it really takes. And that’s why I told you about that one specific month of my life.

It is gonna be this hard but I promise you one thing – it would be worth it.

I want you to create a safety net for yourself like I did, and then go ALL IN.

As Jony Ive said, you can do some crazy remarkable things if you just focus on one thing. And that means saying no when every bone in your body says the otherwise.

November 2004:

I woke up right before the holidays, extremely excited to go on a vacation.

I took an 8-week long vacation and I started writing that sci-fi book I always wanted to write which, believe it or not, still a work in progress.

My process with the book is that I imagine it all like a movie and then try to write down the scenes. A long movie I guess. lol

12 years later, as I reflect back to where I am right now, I couldn’t be happier.
