2013 WBII International Community Calendar

Last year’s WBII community calendar was a success in supporting the WBII. We have also made improvements to make this 2nd annual calendar an even more coveted product and more profitable for the WBII. We hope to earn even MORE funds to support the work of the WBII, our trusted network and information source.

The 2013 calendar will feature:

1) artistic close-up shots of the Hague with a “key” in the back showing a wide shot of the location

2) Dutch national holidays plus major religious and school holidays

3) WBII members with a strategically-placed advert (WBII member adverts will be place opposite the often-referenced “key” page)

4) corporate sponsors (we already have companies committed to sponsor!)

5) distribution FREE of charge!!

We are counting on a HUGE show of member support this year and are already have at least 8 WBII members committed to sponsorship! The more WBII members we can highlight the more robust we can present the WBII to attract more members and increase the value of the WBII network for everyone. For €100 + BTW (same as last year), you can place an ad in the calendar. Payments must be received by June 15. Once committed to sponsorship, you will receive an email with details (invoice, logo size requirements, etc).Corporate sponsorship costs €500 + BTW and buys a large advert on one of the calendar month pages (see attachment for example). We need your help and connections to secure corporate sponsors, so please work your contacts to help find sponsorship partners!

This year’s calendar will be a photographic beauty, full of helpful dates, and a platform to highlight your business as well as corporations who support the work of the WBII. And with free distribution, we’re printing 1000 more copies expecting it to be a huge hit! The calendars will be available at the September Feel at Home in the Hague fair as well as the Expatica fair in Amsterdam in October. You may also have as many copies as you like to pass out to colleagues, friends, and clients.

May Networking Evening- Ondernemen in 2020

Project initiators and co-authors of Ondernemen in 2020, Mario van Vliet and Sjoerd Hauptmeijer will be the speakers at this month’s WBII Networking Evening. Ondernemen 2020 is an innovative and inspiring book that looks to the future and examines the perspectives of businesses, governmental agencies and interest groups. The book features a select group of Hague-based entrepreneurs representing diverse business sectors. Both WBII Founder Suzy Oge and Tina Evans, founder of Blue Lynx were among the handful of business leaders interviewed for the book. Ondernemen in 2002 was just launched in April and is now available in select Den Haag book stores and online here

WBII 2012 Initiative Award Winners

The winners of the 2012 Initiative Entrepreneurial Awards are pictured in the photo from right to left with Suzy Oge of the WBII. Ruchika Handa won the Social Innovation Award for her socially responsible business Laboni. Jo Parfitt won Networker of the Year. Not only has Jo Parfitt written books on the topic of Networking, she has authored 28 books in total has has now published over 50 for other aspiring writers through her business, Summertime Publications. Azra Secerbegovic (not pictured) won the Ambition Award as owner of ASpa, a city spa concept she created in 2008 with the our philosophy to create a complete range of honest, natural and therapeutic treatments. Congratulations on the new ASpa location on Alexanderplein 2 in The Hague.

The Initiative Awards are based on the Core Values of the WBII and this year a new award was added…The STRONG Award. Kathryn Bolkovac, pictured left, was the recipient of the first ever STRONG Award. More STRONG role models are definitely needed for women and her courage and strength make her an absolute hero and inspirational role model for all women. Kathryn Bolkovac is the author of the book, “The Whistleblower: Sex Trafficking, Military Contractors, and One Women’s Fight for Justice” and her story is the inspiration for the movie “The Whistleblower”, which portrays her courageous fight against sex trafficking in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Rachel Weiss plays her character in the movie. What a privilege it was to meet such a remarkable woman and to honor her in this way. Congratulations to all the 2012 WBII Initiative Award winners!

WBII International Women’s Day Highlights 2012

The WBII 2012 International Women’s Day event at the Bel-Air Hotel was an extraordinary evening! The keynote speaker, Silvia Fernandez, Judge at the International Criminal Court gave a moving and memorable speech that provided some tangible proof and reassurance that significant progress for women in the area of human rights is in fact being made and is therefore possible.We very much appreciate that she took the time from a very busy schedule, while presiding over a very important case to spend the evening with us. Her talk was so informative and relevant and she is such a warm person; she made the evening truly remarkable.

Thanks to everyone who attended the event and especially to all of the contributors and participants in the first ever WBII silent auction. We raised over 1400 euro on the night and already have some contributors lining up for next year. Congratulations to all WBII Members and to the Executive Committee on another successful event!

Networking Evening 26 April

You may be a master of conflict avoidance, but maybe it is time to try a different approach? The topic of the April Networking Evening is “How to resolve conflicts”.

Learn, refresh, or get better insight through this discussion on how you can resolve or better cope with conflict situations in your personal and/or professional lives. This session will make you aware of your own patterns and introduce you to how to avoid escalation in strained or volatile situations, to stay away from pushing “red buttons”, and empower you in your thinking and acting. The facilitator of the evening will be professional mediator Kitty Duell.

The WBII Networking evening is held on the 4th Thursday of every month at the Carlton Ambassador hotel from 19.00-22.00. These events are a excellent opportunity for informal networking and to find out all about the WBII.

WOBI, the pink dragon

Meet WBII member Charlotte Meindersma

Charlotte is an Intellectual Property lawyer and a photographer. She cannot live without either of them and decided to combine the two.

As a photographer Charlotte got to know what life as a small business owner is like and how daunting especially the legal side of business can be.
