This week, we're talking with Dave Montague, from the cast of "Titanic." The musical opens next weekend at Peoria Players Theatre, with performances from February 3rd through the 12th. The show tells the stories of the crew and passengers aborad the ill-fated ship. Montague talks about what drew him to Players' production, about some of the music in the score, and about how much of the musical's plot is drawn from the true story of the Titanic.

Suzette Boulais and Nathan Irwin talk with Dr. John Jost, of Bradley's Department of Music. He;s leading a concert of Haitian orchestral and choral music, Sunday at 6pm at United Presbyterian Church in Peoria. Jost has been traveling to Haiti since the 1970s, and spends his summers teaching with a music camp there. He talks about some of the Haitian composers whose works are featured in Sunday's performance.

This week, we're talking with Susan Hoffman, the new Executive Director of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra. She talks about what drew her to the PSO, and to Peoria; about her long-term plans for the orchestra; and about working with Music Director Gerge Stelluto. Also this weekend: The Heritage Ensemble presents their annual MLK Day concert; and Corn Stock Theatre presents readings of four new, one-act plays by local playwrights.

David Commanday is with us this week, to talk about the Heartland Festival Orchestra's upcoming concert, "New Year's Greeting: Vienna to Broadway." The program mixes elements of Viennese operetta with musical theatre, from Gershwin to Phantom of the Opera. The concert also features performances from two Broadway veterans. Commanday says the underlying theme that unites all of the selections are unforgettable medlodies. The concert is Saturday night at 7:30 at Five Points Washington.

Nathan Irwin and Suzette Boulais talk with Kristan McKinsey about the "Skirting Convention: Illinois Women Artists, 1840-1940" exhibit that continues at Lakeview Museum through January 16. McKinsey talks about how the exhibit came together, about some of the challenges female artists faced during that period, and about some of the works on display.

Their holiday concert, “An American Family Christmas,” is back this year, with performances tonight, tomorrow and Sunday at Five Points Washington. Dr. Henry talks about how the concert originated, and about putting this year's selections together.

Nathan Irwin and Suzette Boulais are talking with David Commanday this week. He and the Heartland Festival Orchestra are accompanying the Peoria Ballet's production of "The Nutcracker." Commanday talks about his own prior work conducting ballet performances; he started his career with the Boston Ballet. He also talks about what a live orchestra adds to a ballet performance, and about being the conduit between the musicians and the dancers. Performances of "The Nutcracker" are Satuday night and Sunday afternoon at the Peoria Civic Center Theatre.

This week, we're talking with Howard Gorman. He's one of the three directors of Corn Stock Theatre's upcoming production of Neil Simon's "Plaza Suite." The play consists of three discrete acts, each revolving around a different couple, but all set in the same hotel suite. Gorman talks about the process of collaborating with two other directors, about choosing his cast, and about the contrasting stories each act tells. "Plaza Suite" opens tonight and continues through December 10th.

Christopher Troutman is our guest this week. The 2003 graduate of Bradley University was in town last week to open an exhibit of his work at Bradley's Heuser Art Gallery. The exhibit will be on display until December 18th.
