Earl Sweatshirt has a new track called “Guild” that features Mac Miller. It’s sludgy sounding track with a hazy effect due to the effects that leave their vocals down an octave. It’s taken from his upcoming new album Doris.

Tonight our favorite fellas Arctic Monkeys made their live return with their first show of 2013 at the Ventura Theater, in Ventura, California. Their set was kicked off with a new song “Do I Wanna Know?”

It’s a live recording brought to us by my man Blake over at Arctic Monkeys US. It’s sounding quite massive. A simple little riff that just builds and builds. It’s great to hear some new Arctic Monkeys, especially when it sounds this good.

“Horizon” is a bonus track that appears as a bonus track on the Japanese version of Daft Punk‘s Random Access Memories. It has a spacey Pink Floyd quality that is a relaxed and pretty direction for the band. I can see why it is released as a bonus track, even though it’s definitely worthy of a listen.

Sombear is the electro-pop project of Minneapolis’ Brad Hale. He’s releasing his debut album Love You In The Dark July 23 on Death Cab For Cutie member Chris Walla’s label, Trans-Records.

There’s something special about the title track of the album that instantly hooked me in. Vocodered vocals singing over a cold airey beats and effects, create something that just works real well. I’m really loving this right now.

By now, you should know what to expect out of a She & Him video. If you can’t stand Zooey Deschanel, then why bother? But if you love her, you’ll love She & Him’s new video for “I Could’ve Been Your Girl.” It was directed by Zooey, and released by her own website. So you know exactly what you’re ordering when you hit play, and as a fan of hers, I’m digging it. Will forever think of her as Summer though..

Smith Westerns’ new album Soft Will comes out June 25th via Mom + Pop. First single “Varsity” has been glowing in my head for months now, and the band has finally given us another taste of the album.

It’s the lovely “3am Spiritual” which takes the glam-rock tendencies that the boys have been working towards all these years in a fully formed and realized fashion. They’ve shown a new-found grace and maturity that hopefully bodes well for the rest of Soft Will.

They play Music Hall of Williamsburg on July 24, tickets are still on sale for that here. Stream “3am Spiritual” below.

Palma Violets released a video for their breakout single “Best Of Friends” before they hit the big time. Now that they’ve got some more money backing them, they’ve released a proper video that seems to take a stab at the music industry. If I’m not mistaken, Danielle from Haim makes an appearance as well.

Kanye West has been busy this week, releasing live projections on buildings as a way to premiere his new songs. He also announced that his album is titled Yeezus (yes, you read that correctly).

Last night he closed out the season of SNL (Bill Hader’s last show) with the performance of two new songs, “Black Skinhead” and “New Slaves” (the one he projected onto buildings).

“Black Skinhead” starts out with a rapid fare pace, sounding something like a mix of Nine Inch Nails, Death Grips, and Marilyn Manson, which makes sense since it features a sample of Manson’s “Beautiful People.” It’s a very different Kanye West than anything that we’ve already heard before, which is astonishing if you really think about it. Then he performed “New Slaves” in a more stripped down but still fired up manner.

He killed it. It’s good to see him back, this good.

Black Skinhead:

So Kanye West premiered a new song tonight in a way that only Kanye West could. A large video of him performing the song was projected on 66 buildings across the world. Yes, you read that correctly. Kanye definitely lives in his own dimension.

The song is a new one called “New Slaves” and it is supposed to appear on his new album, which is likely to come out in June. Frank Ocean is also featured on the track, as you hear towards the end of the song.

One of my favorite shows, The Office, ended last night. The finale was as perfect as I could have hoped. If you’re a fan of the show and watched the finale last night, here’s a little treat for you. It’s the full studio version of the song Creed played at the end of the episode, “All The Faces.” It’s a beauty. A really perfect choice last night.
