What do I mean by unreal? Simply put, unreal conversations gloss over the truth, they attempt to please the other person by saying what the other person just wants to hear, or they can be conversations that beat around the bush, no one ever really saying what they need to say.

Usually, unreal conversations about money, or anything for that matter, are spoken when you or the other person is afraid, anxious, or very upset. You might fear having a disagreement or conflict resulting in the other person getting angry with you. Avoiding talking about money is really about avoiding your feelings of anger, guilt, fear, or shame, something you can experience in many of your relationships.

I must admit, over the years, my ‘pleasing style’ of resistance (avoiding conflict) created money walls between me, my husband and my clients. When I finally got around to discussing money, it never went smoothly, and it often didn’t go well.

I knew that I, my husband and many of my clients hated talking about money. It was inevitable that all of us would be thrown into our fight/flight mode of survival.

Once we’re in our automatic, fearful reaction mode, we become 8 year olds who are having a conversation involving money that objective thinking adults need to be having. From this perspective, we only have two options available to bring to the conversation, fight (blame and defend) or flight (ignore, or try to please).

Unfortunately, for many years, my husband lived in a mood of fear, not knowing where we stood, and I lived in a mood of resentment and worry, handling everything by myself. These destructive dispositions around money never generated any real proactive action or planning.

I was also very hesitant to charge what my services were worth, much less, impart that value to my clients. I undercharged and over delivered constantly.

My clients certainly picked up on my anxiety about me asking for my price, and I picked up on their anxiety about not having enough money or trusting that they would receive the value.

Does discussing money matters in your personal or your business life cause you to revert back into your childhood beliefs and emotional experiences of insecurity, unworthiness, fear, anger or guilt?

If so, you are in a fearful, dysfunctional relationship with money, with your value, your worthiness, your capability. It is never about the money directly. Money is a symbol of value exchanged. Money is an amplifier of what we believe about our value. It amplifies what someone else believes is valuable to them and what they believe they deserve to receive.

You can be in a power struggle with money (your own self worth) as easily as you can be in a power struggle with another person. It’s really all the same.

Who you believe yourself to be and what you believe you deserve is the key. Self awareness is the beginning of a process that you must engage in. There are four (4) vital steps you must begin to take that will liberate you from being stuck in your fear and anxiety in your relationship with money or anyone you feel victimized to:

1. Acknowledge where you are emotionally;
2. Acknowledge where you want to  be and how you want to feel;
3. Accept your current perspective or situation without judgment;
4. Allow the truth of who you are to emerge and to be your truth.

While this seems like a simple process, it is not easy. I had to develop a trust in love, and I had to believe that love wanted me to have the life that I wanted. I came to believe that I deserved to have a life that was rich, fulfilling, and amazingly supportive of me to be the best of me that I was born to be.

I came to believe and embrace the truth of who I really am – a magnificent, powerful, abundantly creative and prosperous being of the Universe that was designed to WIN! Everything changed after that. And, my husband and my client base changed too!

Lately, have you been experiencing people who have similar complaints and problems? Do they get on your nerves to the point that you become impatient or defensive with their issues? No matter how bad these people seemingly are for you, did you know that they can show you where your triggers and shadows are?

I know, it is tempting to believe that other people are really creating your problems. Believe me, I do get that!

It is quite normal for us to fall prey to our subconscious victim energy when we become triggered by others. Your inner self talk might sound like this:

• They’re doing “it” to me and they have no right to treat me badly
• They’re making me angry, sad, or frustrated
• The other person shouldn’t be acting the way that they are
• I would feel so much better if ‘they’ would just change
• Why do I always have to be the one to change
• The other person is definitely in the wrong. My friends (family) agree.

Do any of these statements sound familiar?

What makes you unique is how you personally react to other peoples’ bad behavior. Your reaction is what creates your future experience. Are you aware of how you respond to someone who has violated your values, expectations, or needs? Are you indignant, defensive and guarded, or do you shrink and blame yourself? If you recognize yourself in any of these behaviors, your survival system has overtaken you.

The truth is, your victim energy is a perspective, one that we all possess. It leads you to believe that you don’t have the power to change your circumstances; that other people or situations have power over you. It can lead you to be protective and ‘on guard’ with others. Unfortunately, this fosters distrust in yourself and others.

While it feels right to be this way, protective distrust will really slow your manifesting process down considerably, things like increasing your income, love, clients to serve, or having a healthy body, etc.

The truth is that your experience of a situation depends entirely upon you. Things happen, yet, how you are impacted by them is all about your inner beliefs and habits. (This is where you want to breathe.) The habit force of your survival pattern, fueled by fear, must be recognized and let go. This is not accomplished as a one-time event. It happens repeatedly over time with the practice of self-awareness and choosing again.

I find that when I am ready to release an old limiting, habitual, fearful pattern, I tend to experience troubling people and difficult circumstances which illuminate my deep-seated beliefs. I think this is nature’s way of helping me to see myself authentically.

It does make it easier to see and release the victim pattern when it surrounds you. You can then remember who you really are in the first place – a free, powerful, accepting being of love and prosperity.

I invite you to choose someone that is currently rubbing you the wrong way. How are you feeling with their behavior and how are you reacting to them?

1. Accept that their behaviors are about them, and that your reaction to them is about you. What do you notice about your behavior? Are you defensive, indignant, or blameful? Identify your resistance to the other person or circumstance.
2. Establish what is really important to you. What is it that you are really wanting, more power, more respect, acceptance, etc.?
3. Identify the beliefs that are causing your inner conflict. What is your victim saying about you? Become aware of the habitual thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of your personal victim energy. See them for what they are, and then be willing to let them go for a better way of being!

Why is this so important to note, especially at this time? Because, creating rich relationships in all areas of our lives is the new currency in the 21st century.

Without knowing how to influence the dynamics of your relationships in all areas of your life, you won’t be able to experience how great your life can be. Instead, you’ll likely get stuck in the Power Struggle Stage of your relationships. Do you ever wonder why you don’t get the cooperation, acknowledgment, or support that you crave? The truth is, your struggles and conflicts with money, men (women) and God, or the Universe, etc., are not really about the obvious. Your struggles and strife come from seeing yourself in the world from a victim level of awareness. This subconscious level of awareness dictates your behaviors, generates your emotions, your beliefs, and establishes your values that are important to you.

Now, this is not exactly something you want to hear or even admit to, right? I know, I didn’t either. Not until my upside-down life demanded that I look within myself and take responsibility for my life instead of blaming everything outside of myself. Well, most of all, I had to stop blaming myself.

After all, I was a successful businesswoman, in control and in charge. It’s no wonder I had so many challenges with men. Unknowingly, my protective, “I’ve got it all together, I don’t need anyone” subconscious energy patterns spoke volumes and repelled the very things I really wanted.

In my 25 years of being in the field of personal and spiritual growth, I’ve yet to meet anyone who has willingly accepted their victim level of awareness graciously at first, myself included.

Here’s the deal. Please just accept the fact that you do have this level of awareness within you. We all do. The truth is, it is not who you are. There is a higher perspective, a conscious level of awareness that sees you as you truly are. It dissolves the reality of your victim level of awareness simply and easily.

Perspective is truly everything! Take a look at a conflict that you are having with your finances, a lover, a co-worker, a friend, or a family member. Now, imagine that you are being lifted up to a 10,000.ft. view of your conflict. Seriously, do this and you will be pleasantly surprised.

What is this struggle and strife showing you? Do you see how you are being a victim to your circumstances, to a person, or to your own personal belief system? What have been up to? 2. Eating out or drinking more than you are comfortable with – these things can really cost you more, not just your mon’ey, but with your health
3. Spending too much time complaining to your friends about the indiscretions of the person with whom you are in conflict.
4. Doing mundane, low energy level task work because you are tired, frustrated, and resentful
5. Withdrawing from making new contacts and lucrative offers to potential clients which would increase your business opportunities
6. Getting sick often because your body is worn down from the emotional stress of your relationship(s)
7. Not asking for help and delegating the non-income generating aspects of your business because you are in withdraw mode and you don’t feel like interacting with anyone.

So, there you have just seven (7) out of hundreds of ways that many of us try to deal with the emotional turmoil and discord in our important and significant relationships.

This is a primary reason that money is blocked or leaks out of your life. If you can identify with any one of these behaviors, then it is time to make a change! It just costs way too much, don’t you agree?

2. Decide to address the conflicts, beginning with the most draining. (You know who this is) Identify the nature of the conversations you are avoiding. Your money, your joy, and your rich life depend on it!
3. Who do you have trouble saying “No” to? Write down the names of the people with whom you have difficulty exercising your boundaries. Start saying “No” to obligatory expectations from others that are draining your energy and consuming your time and money.

I’ve been working with a woman for a long time, long enough that I would think she could trust me to do my job extremely well. Yet, she questions me, checks up on me, and then apologizes to me (sometimes) because I have done my job 99% of the time.

This makes me crazy. How can I find peace? I love my job, I just can’t take this distrust anymore.

Answer:

Mark, thank you so much for asking this question. There are many people who find themselves working with and for people who have difficulty trusting others. The absence of trust creates one of the most energy depleting experiences for people in relationship.

When trust isn’t present between two or more people in personal or professional relationships, everything moves like molasses. It’s sticky, slow, and catches everything little thing that comes along in it’s path. Obstacles become greater as time goes on. Everything takes so much more time, energy, and money, have you noticed?

I can appreciate that you feel very frustrated in working with this woman. Here’s your real problem, however. Your experience is being determined by her actions. In other words, you are falling victim to her distrusting nature and denying your power of choice. This is what is draining your energy!

From a higher perspective, I submit to you that you have drawn this person into your life to grow beyond the victim level of awareness. Subconsciously, you have rendered yourself powerless to act resourcefully and to feel grounded and centered. From the victim level of awareness, you can only react in your fight/flight/freeze mode.

Please stay with me here. I am offering you a perspective that can free you from this emotional prison that uses resistance to keep you locked in. I would never want that for you or anyone. The truth is, you are most likely trapped in the Power Struggle stage of your relationship with your business partner. Where else in your life might you be stuck in this stage?

This is your inner work. If you are ready to be free from the pain of your victim perspective, I recommend you start by doing the following each day:

1. Decide that you are now taking full responsibility for your life.
2. Become aware of everyone and everything you are complaining about.
3. Acknowledge this activity as the victim’s habit. Stop yourself when you notice that you are in the complaining and “shoulding” mode. Say to yourself, “the victim’s talking.”
4. Turn your complaints around, i.e. I will trust myself more. I will forgive myself more. I will notice my strengths more. I’ll acknowlegde my weaknesses and mistakes without judgment.

Mark, please believe me when I say, this relationship is no accident for you. I celebrate this opportunity for you to claim your powerful, undefended, unjustified Self. This is who you really are. You are not your victim perspective. It is merely a level of awareness that every human being experiences in their life. You are not alone.

Once you can accept yourself just as you are, you will find that your world will mirror that back to you, as well. Please know, it is from the energy of acceptance that your gut will inform you of the ‘just right’ time and the ‘just right’ words, given the opportunity presents itself for you to have a heart-felt conversation with your business partner, one that moves your relationship forward into more cooperation and trust.

Just remember, when it comes to doing things from your logic and will power versus what you subconsciously believe, what you subconsciously believe will WIN OVER, hands down, every time!

This truth is why your quest is well worth making. I believe it is your soul’s desire to do so. It is a MUST if you want to live the life you were born to live and to be the grandest, prosperous YOU that is YOU!

Question:

Do you want to increase your income significantly, yet you feel overwhelmed with what you think it will take?

Answer:

Don't make this fatal mistake if you want to increase your income.

If you believe that in order to produce more income you must give more, make more offers, serve more people, become more proficient and masterful at what you do, network more, etc., then you might feel overwhelmed when you think about everything that you must do.

I know, that happened to me. My over-giving and caring nature became an obstacle for me when I decided to up level my business income earlier this year. I simply found myself drained of the energy that I needed in order to make the changes that I believed I needed to make. What I discovered changed everything, and it can change everything for you, too!

Over-giving and over-caring is not an uncommon practice for heart-centered, over-achieving, perfectionist women who care deeply and want to serve and help others. The problem is, we tend to experience a huge challenge when we want to increase our income significantly.

Why is this and what can you do about it? First of all, let’s look at a Universal principle that determines the flow for the energy of money, the Law of Circulation.

Put simply, this states that the energy of money must circulate. If this process is thwarted, due to misaligned beliefs, it will produce an experience of lack and scarcity in your experience.

There is a belief that suggests that if you want to experience an increase, you must first invest your energy (give). Like putting your money into the bank. It will grow if you invest it into an interesting-bearing account (receive a return). Do your subconscious beliefs allow you to receive a return on your investment of time, talents, and energy?

Let’s look at this closer. Do any of these beliefs feel true for you?

• It is better to give than to receive.
• You’re not deserving to receive abundantly.
• If you make too much money you will become or be seen as uncaring.
• You’ll have to work too hard to make a lot of money and keep it.
• People will use you for your money and won’t really love you.
• Your friends or family will be jealous of your success and you’ll feel guilty.
• I must provide for myself without any help. This proves I am strong.

Okay, this is actually a very short list. Can you relate to any of these beliefs or do you have a few more to add? Here’s the problem. Your ability to increase your income will be greatly limited if you can’t RECEIVE! Your cup must be filled back up or you’ll run on empty! The problem isn’t that you have not been giving, it’s that you haven’t allowed yourself to receive, to fill back up!

The beliefs I’ve listed above are reasons why you won’t let your good (money) come into your life. By changing your relationship with money, which includes your beliefs about you and money, you’re really changing your ability to be contributed to. You’re increasing your emotional capacity to receive!

Given the culture we live in, you have been conditioned in the masculine approach to business. Men have been our role models in business for centuries. Nothing wrong with this, it just doesn’t work well for heart-centered, over-caring, over-giving women (men too). It is the FEMININE PRINCIPLE OF RECEIVING that you MUST open up to within yourself in order to regenerate the flow of money back into your life.

Relax and breathe! Yes, receiving completes the circulation process. How well do you really allow yourself to receive? You might think you do, yet, if your income isn’t growing and you want it to, consider this could be your blind spot.

This week, I invite you to practice evoking your feminine energy. Intend to receive in all areas of your life. Start with something as simple as practicing extreme self-care. Take a break and do something that you love. Be very kind to yourself. Be a gracious receiver!

In addition, ask yourself this one important question each morning, “Where do I need to receive more of my good that wants to come to me now?” Listen closely, your heart will tell you. The practice of listening for guidance shifts you into the space of your feminine energy to receive.

Just remember, when it comes to doing things from your logic and will power versus what you subconsciously believe, what you subconsciously believe will WIN OVER, hands down, every time!

This truth is why your quest is well worth making. I believe it is your soul’s desire to do so. It is a MUST if you want to live the life you were born to live and to be the grandest, prosperous YOU that is YOU!

Hi Judy, I find myself having all kinds of incredible ideas. I make a commitment to move forward on them. However, I find old patterns of being distracted and not working the new idea into reality. Any ideas or help on this one? Thanks, Barb

Answer:

Thank you for raising this issue, Barb. This is a very common problem for many of us that are creative and passionate about what we do. Lots of good ideas flop around in our minds, yet they never get born into reality. The good news is, you are creative and passionate about what you do!

There can be many reasons that your patterns of distraction are interfering with your ability to complete your ideas and see them through to fulfillment. Look and see if your old patterns are surfacing because you’re subconsciously believing something negative about yourself or the value of what you offer. Perhaps you are judging what you are offering and creating as not being good enough.

Judgment stops your creative juices from flowing. It diminishes your ability to take the actions necessary to complete your ideas and bring them into fruition. Oh yes, and please stop judging yourself and the value of what you have to offer, now!

These subconscious patterns of sabotage could be showing up in other areas of your life as well. The way we all do one thing is often the way we do many things that are similar in nature.

It is always a good idea to notice the sabotaging pattern that uses distractions to hijack you from working on your ideas, as quickly as you can. The following steps will help you if you make them a daily practice:

• Interrupt the pattern before it interrupts your work. Take a deep breath and do not allow the current distraction to carry you away. See it for what it is, a safety ploy to keep your beautiful self- expression quiet and repressed.
• Release the tension that your old thinking produces. Shaking out your hands or clenching your fists tightly, then releasing them slowly, are a couple of quick and easy ways to do this.
• Focus on the energy that is coursing through your body. Breathe deeply and step back from your idea or project. Ask yourself this question? For the sake of what do I want to birth this idea? In other words, why do you want to birth and complete this now?
• Discover what is most important to you, and prioritize your idea according to your bigger plan. This is an important practice to do with all of your ideas – prioritize them within the context of a bigger plan.

You might find that some of your ideas are not ready to come into fruition just yet. Use your power of discernment and gage your ideas according to your bigger picture. Everything grows in stages. Knowing what stage your bigger project is in is paramount to deceiphering what ideas are appropriate to be completed now.

This is not only more fulfilling, it is financially attractive as well, particularly when it comes to your work and business. Thank you for giving your unique self-expression the attention it needs and deserves! Our world needs you now!
