We are.. Jen + Jean Claude Pt.1

Anna and I have always felt incredibly lucky to do what we do. Our job as photographers quite simply, is to capture the day as it unfolds and tell the story that was our couples’ wedding day. That fact, takes on new meaning every wedding as we become more intimate with our couples and get to know them through the process.. the love they share, their personalities.. the things that make their weddings all unique and special. It is the part we love most about our job; he dynamic nature of the event and the unknown. Occasionally.. it extends into the entire wedding party and you just come away feeling like you witnessed something so big and great that it is hard to describe.. except.. with pictures. I hope we have done our jobs and that this blog post will help to capture and tell the story of how amazing Jen and Jean Claude really are.. how amazing their family and friends are… and just how much fun this wedding really was. It was an absolute pleasure to bear witness to.. to capture and at times… to participate in. I can honestly say we made a number of friends and hope to continue all of those relationships. Jen and JC.. we wish you the absolute best in life and love and look forward to seeing you again.

We met Molly + Luke at Page Springs Cellars to do some engagements (and drink a little wine..and eat a bistro plate… )
We had a great time and shot some pictures while we were at it. Happy Birthday to Molly who had her birthday the day after!!!

Katie + Luke married at the Farm at South Mountain. The day was beautiful, sunny and laid back. The light is always amazing at this venue and one of our favorite places to shoot in Phoenix. Katie looked stunning and she walked down the aisle barefoot.. which we loved. Thank you both so much for letting us be a part of your special day.

wow.. what a year.

where to begin… this year has been the most amazing year ever, packed with insane life experiences, awesome weddings and fantastic surprises. when Anna and I started doing wedding photography, there is just NO way I could have imagined the life we now lead. i am overwhelmed. we shot weddings all over the earth and yet instead of feeling tired or run down.. we feel hungry for more.
this year we will shoot more weddings then ever in amazing places we have never been for a whole new set of couples we will learn amazing things from. i have said it before but it is how I see it.. we live this crazy life where we get to meet the absolute greatest people in the world and document the love the have so they themselves can document that moment in their lives where they were just become.. in love. how is that not the greatest job in the world? anna and I are so very lucky. to this day we still get so excited on client meetings, i get nervous and i fiddle… i think to myself “man.. i really hope they pick us!”.. those same butterflies that i get everytime in that moment when you can just feel the connection someone has and something clicks inside you and you know you want to document it.

As I have said over and over again, one amazing thing that i didn’t expect when we started this business was that we would learn so much from our couples about love and relationships and life in general. the whole experience of getting to know these couples, shooting engagements, weddings…then watching families erupt… its crazy..crazy stuff. you can’t NOT (i know double negative) learn from those experiences and come away with something.
they move me..our clients, they make me love anna more because of what I see in everyone else…
i am so appreciative of that.
WE are appreciative of that.
i can honestly say we are ecstatic to know them and really really hope they stay in touch when this epic wedding goes down… because they are amazing people.

this year I am going to try and write more… to document more of the experience and to share those words with the experiences.
we plan to add more posts of travel, even personal related posts. it is the intimacy in what we do that i want to bring to here. hopefully you all are ok with that.

although we are sad to say goodbye to you 2011.. we are excited for 2012.

thank you to people who inspired us this year, exciting exchanges we had with people on our travels and most of all to our clients. you make the world go round. i have always said good people know good people, and all of you are proof positive to that. our business is 100 percent this blog and word of mouth.. and word of mouth is treating us amazing.. so seriously thank you all.

It has been a while since we shot Emily and Peter’s Cambodian wedding in Los Angeles. Imagine our surprise when Anna and I found out we had another feature this month in The Knot – Southern California! (You can catch our other feature here!) We are over the moon and this has been a great ending to an amazing year with the greatest clients we could ever have hoped for. Earlier in the year we shot Elena and Alex’s absolutely beautiful wedding in Mykonos, Greece.
