I signed up with IGXHOST very recently. Purchased a shared plan professional and was very happy so far. This morning there was an email saying the shared plans are all sold to another host, SNOORK, hosting.snoork.com. sigh.

I could only find limited information about SNOORK on this forum.
The reason I went for IGXHOST was because of its reputation here.
So....
Does anyone know about SNOORK?
Is SNOORK reliable? fast? supportive? problematic?
I read that they closed free accounts very quickly...a sign of small company being unstable?

Hi forum readers - I hope that this thread subject is pretty self explanatory.

I am working on a site that is targeting a particular region of the world. I am interested in the Middle East. I am facing an issue (very important I think) which has to do with the physical location of the web hosting company.

Here is the assumption. If there are two very similar web hosting companies. Both have good data centers and support, etc. One of the hosts is in the US and the other in the (targeting country) Bahrain (a small island nation in the Middle East). Am I better off by selecting the local (Bahrain) hosting company? Does it matter? Does geography play a role when it comes to selecting a hosting company. When I speak to hosting companies they are saying that physical location is not really important. They are asking me to look at customer serivce, technical support, when deciding.

I have thought about having the site in 2 different locations (US and Bahrain). There are times when Bahrain looses its internet connection for about half a day or so. This happens every one or two years. I want the site to be running even when the internet connection is lost to the outside world. The domain will be both .com and .com.bh

Your advice/suggestion or info is much appreciated. Thanx in advance.

I am currently using a dedicated server for hosting my blog, but it is extremely low end. (Pentium 3)

I am thinking of possibly moving this across to shared hosting -BUT- It must be able to cope with digg / slashdot if I make a popular blog post.

I have seen that mediatemple do a plan that comes with assurances that digg will not cause the hosting to die, they are $20.

What are my other options with shared hosting?

Hello,

Could someone suggest a shared/VPS hosting provider allowing sending, say, up to 20000 email messages daily?

Note: I am talking about hosting multiple personal email boxes, not about maillist service.

Most hosters I know of have a small comment in their ToS effectively limiting the number of outbound messages below the required limit.

I would be very glad to know of any hosting plan allowing the mentioned limit. Personal correspondence only. Legitimate use only.

Thanks.

Could anyone tell me what could be the cause of a DNS not propagating after 72 hours please?
The name registrar is TUCOWS and most of the time the propagation takes less than 48 hours, what could be the problem?

UK2 has set up the DNS for me and they are the one accessing my registrar control panel in order to change what needs to be changed, I am sure they have done it right as I kept emailing them and they keep telling me to wait.
In 19 hours this will amount to a total of 96 hours....My company has to launch very soon(in a few days) and I really do not know what to do.

Any idea what could cause this please?

Thanks,

OK this may be a stupid question and commonly used but I wanted to verify this first. I want to set up hosting with a company and I like the deal and havent seen anything on here about them besides their ads and one member switching because the member used more bandwidth and maybe needed a different plan they dont offer or something. So in 5 months of being on here nobody seems to have complained. Thats a good thing I think.
BUT they say I have to verify my phone number before my account gets set up. Is this normal? I know alot of scams make you do this number verification stuff to get codes to put in on craigslist and spam people.
Just making sure its a normal thing before I give them all my personal info.
The site is hetrixbyte.com
Anyone have any experience with them? Hard to find good reviews.. seems people only speak up when things turn bad :)
Its just a few personal sites and eventually a simple page for a buddys carpet cleaning company... so its not critical to have perfect service.
Anyway TIA for any help.

So I am using Dreamhost right now, they have been performing fine for the past several months, however before that, they were down nearly every day, with terrible lags in server response time. It was awful.

Since then I've purchased a second shared hosting account with Hostgator, but I still have my site hosted on Dreamhost.

If my site were to be down for a day with a 500 Internal Server error, it would cost me $$$ that could be feeding me or buying me tickets to see movies in IMAX.

So my question is - is there any 100% foolproof way to avoid server downtime? Especially if I am paying for two separate hosts - can I create a version of my page on another host and redirect to it when my main host is down with a 500 error, or perhaps, it would redirect automatically if the site takes more than say, 6 seconds to load up?

Someone suggested a php redirect to a cached page script, but Dreamhost said they don't support this feature.

Please help me, I want a 100% foolproof way to keep my websites online.

Thank you!
