Went to Cameron Highland recently with my family. I won a free 2 days 1 night stay from Palace of Golden Horses because of a lucky draw when I registered at the KLIBF 2010. There’s few places that we can choose from and we chose Equatorial Hotel Cameron Highland because it was a very long time since the last time me or my wife went to Cameron Highland. Chose to be there on my birthday.

This is the first time we went to Cameron Highland as a family and I was very excited to go. I decided to use the Tapah way to Cameron Highland and go back through Simpang Pulai. The journey was quite fine. I stopped quite few places trying to top up my Touch n Go card but the only place that I was able to do so is at a Petronas station at Tapah’s R&R.

First Day

Reached there a bit early as we’ve planned to visit few places before check-in. So our first stop is at the Cameron Bharat Tea Plantation. Bought a map, glove for Azad and some toys.

Then we went to Brinchang town for early lunch or “brunch”. After lunch, we went to the small shops around that area for some souvenirs and just to check out the town during the day.

Went to Big Red Strawberry Farm in Brinchang. My wife wanted to pick some strawberry. To pick the strawberry yourself, you need to pick at least 1/2kg and it cost RM20 for that. They have flowers, cactus, vegetables and tomatoes around that area. The exit road is quite steep (better make sure your breaks are in good conditions).

We check-in into the apartment after 3pm. The apartment is quite fine. You can see it in my video.

They have coffee and tea making facilities but all was very dirty, even the microwave was dirty as well. So I called their housekeeping service to come and clean it. Their response was very fast. In few minutes they came to wash and clean it all.

There’s nothing much we can do in Cameron Highland on Monday night. The night market at Brinchang is only open on weekends. So we went to Brinchang town for dinner and some night snacks. Then we head back to the hotel. The road was really dark as there’s not much of road lights.

I woke up every few hours to go to the toilet but since it was too cold, I have to forget about it until I cannot hold it anymore. My friends told me that Cameron Highland is not cold anymore but the night that we stayed there, it was freezing cold then I realized that most of them stayed at Tanah Rata. Maybe that is the reason they didn’t felt that cold anymore.

Second Day

Time to go back to Pelabuhan Klang and there’s no hot water in the morning. What? In Cameron Highland? Yup… It seems that one of the main pipes of Jabatan Bekalan Air broken (that is what they claimed), so the only way that I can bath with hot water is to register for a shower room. Earlier in the morning

We had our breakfast in the room. Check out our breakfast… it was really fast…

After checkout from Equatorial Hotel, we went to the Fruit & Vegetable Market near Kea Farm. Very close to the hotel. Bought some fruit, vegetables and souvenirs. The makcik at the 1st stall sells very cheap souvenirs.

I like the pearl corn that we bought there. You can eat it raw and still tasted quite sweet.

Sungai Pallas Boh Tea Estate. The road was very small, so we need to honk at every corner just in case that there’s other vehicle coming from the opposite way. The scenery was amazing.

Headed to Simpang Pulai and we stopped at the few places.

Stopped at Bharat Tea Plantation and bought few packs of tea. The cashier calculated our purchase wrongly but we didn’t check it until we reached Tapah. That’s a lesson to us so that we need check our bill/ receipt before leaving any cashier counter.

Stopped at Avant Chocolate factory and chill at the Green View Garden. Bought few packs of chocolate for me and my son (huhu…).

Must Buy:

1. Tea (for sure…)
2. Strawberry
3. Pearl Corn (very nice…)

Must Go:

1. Any Strawberry Farm…
2. Any Tea Plantation…
3. Pasar Malam at Brinchang (weekends… didn’t have the chance to go…)
4. If you like butterfly, then you can go to the Butterfly Garden.

Every year, me and my wife will have 1 day of “buka puasa” outside. So, we decided to have our “buka puasa” at Pizza Hut, Giant, Bukit Tinggi. Made an early reservation.

We chose Pizza Hut, Giant, Bukit Tinggi because their service is much better than Pizza Hut, Jaya Jusco, Bukit Tinggi.

We ordered the Citarasa Ramadan set that comes with Piza Ayam Sinar Ramadan, Nasi Kurma Ayam and Ramadan Fizz and we added chicken wings.

The pizza was quite OK. Not much of my taste because of the Thai sauce, but if you like Thai sauce flavor then it should be nice. The drink is a mix of 7Up, orange juice and markisah. My son like the Nasi Kurma Ayam.

The only thing that I would like to comment is that we didn’t receive any dates for the “berbuka“. I saw there’s a box of dates at the cashier counter and it is like a trend that all Pizza Hut and KFC restaurant to give dates to the customer for “berbuka puasa” but we didn’t receive any. I’m not sure whether it is for their other meals set or maybe they forgot to give.

Other than the dates thingy… we enjoy the “berbuka puasa” there.

This year I didn’t see much of Jalur Gemilang anywhere. I didn’t know what is wrong with this year. Maybe most of us forgot that it is the celebration of our country’s independence. Hope that it will change in time…

PIKOM PC Fair 2010 II.

This time I decided to do a vlog for this event. This is the my 1st time I’m doing a vlog and it was quite funny.

The angle and everything doesn’t seems OK to me. Need some improvement I guess.

Anyway, do check out the video and below is some write-up on the event.

Not much of new things that me and my friend, Thristhan can find there.

From what I can see, there’s few booth that sells backup battery pack such as the one below (from Cooler Master). Some of it are like sleeves which you can put your iPhone in it and it will give your iPhone a longer battery life. As for GPS, there’s not much of it either.

There’s also few netbook that are WIMAX ready. So, if you have a P1 W1MAX account, you can access it anywhere (within the coverage….) without any modem. A particular brand that I can see is msi.

Decided to sign up with Maxis wireless broadband after I tested their service using my friend’s account. You can checkout my review of the service using my friend’s account.

Went to Giant at Klang Parade and was surprise to see Quran at the fruit section.

Actually it was dates (kurma) and the packaging looked like a Quran. Dates from Gurun Emas (Al-Kitabu)

I’m not sure what type of dates that they sell but to me it is some marketing strategy and I’m not sure whether it is a good marketing strategy or not…
