The Smiths were unable to conceive children and decided to use a surrogate father  to start their family. On the day the  proxy father was to arrive, Mr.Smith kissed his wife goodbye and said, “Well, I’m off now. The man should be here soon.”

Half an hour later, just by chance, a  door-to-door baby photographer happened to ring the doorbell, hoping to make a sale.  “Good morning,Ma’am” , he said, “I’ve come to…”

“Oh, no need to explain,”Mrs. Smith cut in, embarrassed, “I’ve been expecting you.”

“Have you really?” said the photographer.  “Well, that’s good.  Did you know babies are my specialty?”

“Well that’s what my husband and I had hoped.  Please come in and have a seat”.

After a moment she asked, blushing, “Well, where do we start?”

“Leave everything to me. I usually try two in the bathtub, one on the couch, and perhaps a couple on the bed. And  sometimes the living room floor is fun.  You can really spread out there.”

“Bathtub, living room floor? No wonder it didn’t work out for Harry and me!”

“Well, Ma’am, none of us can guarantee a good one every time. But if we try several different positions and I shoot from six or seven angles, I’m sure you’ll be pleased with the results.”

“My, that’s a lot!” gasped Mrs. Smith.

“Ma’am, in my line of work a man has to take his time. I’d love to be in and out in five minutes, but I’m sure you’d be
disappointed with that.”

“Don’t I know it,” said Mrs. Smith quietly.

The photographer opened his briefcase and pulled out a portfolio of his baby pictures. “This was done on the top of a bus,” he said.

“Oh, my God!” Mrs. Smith exclaimed, grasping at her throat.

“And these twins turned out exceptionally well – when you consider their mother was so difficult to work with.”

“She was difficult?” asked Mrs.Smith.

“Yes, I’m afraid so. I finally had to take her to the park to get the job done right. People were crowding around four and five deep to get a good look”

“Four and five deep?” said Mrs. Smith, her eyes wide with amazement.

“Yes”, the photographer replied. “And for more than three hours, too. The mother was constantly squealing and yelling – I
could hardly concentrate, and when darkness approached I had to rush my shots. Finally, when the squirrels began nibbling on my equipment, I just had to pack it all in.”

Mrs. Smith leaned forward. “Do you mean they actually chewed on your, uh…equipment? ”

“It’s true, Ma’am, yes.. Well, if you’re ready, I’ll set-up my tripod and we can get to work right away.”

“Tripod ?”

“Oh yes, Ma’am. I need to use a tripod to rest my Canon on.  It’s much too big to be held in the hand very long.

Mrs. Smith fainted!!

The howling of the wind woke me and wife up at around four o’clock in the morning  September 27, 2011.  She turned on the radio and tuned in to the news to get updates about the weather.

At about six thirty, she told me “most  schools suspended their classes in all levels in Metro Manila and their offices are also included.”

I asked her “what about from where I work.”

“Only classes on all levels are suspended, nothing was mentioned about offices” she replied.  So I prepared my self and head to work at around 7:40 am.  I took a jeep then rode a tricycle so there’s no hassle in going to work.

I see some office workers leaving as I was arriving and I said to myself  “Uh oh! here we go again.”

“They send the announcement through text” one of the guys told me, pertaining to the suspension of office work.

“So that’s why many of the staffs report to work” I just thought to myself.

We experienced a lot of problems with cellphone companies here in my country.  If you have a different cellphone company from the text message sender, chances are you’ll receive the message late or no message at all.  There are locations where the signal is very weak and  it’s also very hard to make a call or send text message during peak period especially during holidays.

I always walk on my way home (the link will show photos of places I pass by on my way home on a good weather condition)on a different route because its hard to get a ride using the same route I took going to my workplace.  During bad weather condition, It’s a bit hard and scary trekking this route.

I hope the photos below shows the experience I went through.

I’ve been seeing a lot of blogs and post about Oprah Winfrey’s statement on Miss Universe 2011 results.  I tried to search google and NBC News but I cannot find where in NBC news did she mention them.

The Miss Universe 2011 will be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil on September 12, 2011.  Most people from every country is anxious and excited in this year’s most prestigious beauty contest.  I believe the Philippines’ Miss Shamcey Supsup has a big chance because she got beauty, talent and brains.

A certain school org held their sports fest at the Ateneo football field and leave behind this kind of mess in a nearby building’s comfort room.

Last June 12 after coming from an out of town trip to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary, I bought my wife a puppy.  At first I didn’t know anything about this dog except that she’s cute.  I learned later that it’s a Schweenie, a cross breed between the Dachshund and the Shih Tzu.

At first I was hesitant about owning a dog ’cause my wife developed an allergy when we still have a locally bred dog.  But she insisted trying to have a dog since it’s been years since we had one.  My four year old grandson named her “Winnie” the Schweenie and later on he shortened it to “Winnie”.

The air is filled with cheers and jeers in the whole two opening games that I watched in the UAAP Season 74 at the  Araneta Coliseum.  The first game was between Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws against Dela Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers.  The game was controlled by the Tamaraws finishing with nine points lead 74-65.

The second game between Ateneo Blue Eagles versus the Adamson Falcons was more exciting when the Falcons took the lead in the third quarter.  You cannot even hear yourself speaking from the loud cheering and drum beatings coming from both schools.  The final result was the falcon’s 29th straight loss from the Blue Eagles at 51-55.

It was fun and it feels great watching the UAAP Basketball games live but I could have enjoyed it more if Coach Norman Black was not blocking my view.

The much awaited season 74 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines will kick-off on July 9, 2011 at 3:00 pm at the Marikina Sports Center. The Host Ateneo de Manila University will highlight the event with an Olympic Style Opening Ceremony and will parade around 4,000 athletes from all sports category (not just basketball).

A song entitled ALL OUT ALL HEARTS is especially arranged to capture the theme for this season and will be sung by a group of Ateneo Alumni. Other production numbers were also prepared.

The host with the participation of all athletes in this event will show everybody that the University Athletics Association of the Philippines or The UAAP is not just all about Basketball.

Several years or even more than a decade ago, I remember that couples or parents can easily request from Barangay Health Centers any artificial family planning method paraphernalia they prefer to use. If you need Condom, Intrauterine Device, Contraceptive Pills, Injectables or Contraceptive Injections just go to your Barangay Health Center and they are available. I also remember that public or government hospitals offer “Tubal Ligation” or female sterilization to women after giving birth if ever they want to stop getting pregnant again.

There are already laws or Government projects regarding family planning, responsible parenthood and women’s’ health, what’s the fuzz with the Reproductive Health Bill.  If you will review the platform of government projects such as this one, the coconut levy fund, the NBN ZTE Project, the Fertilizer fund and the many others, you will be amazed by how great it will benefit the Philippines and the Filipino people. So if there are debates on bills or other government project nowadays like what Manny “pacman” Pacquiao get himself involved into, I think we fully understand the real issue.

Times when I wish that I have superpowers

Me and my brother were in the food court of a mall somewhere in Ortigas yesterday. We were in a hurry, but while eating, I noticed a guy in grey shirt standing next to a guy eating in the table next to us. I would have ignored him, if only I didn’t notice how he would stare at the guy for a few seconds and then look around, and then look back at the guy again.

I thought it was weird, but I assumed that they knew each other so I continued eating. A minute later, I saw another guy in white shirt stand in front of the guy who was eating, his back facing the guy who was eating his food. This is where I realized that something was wrong. Both guys (the one in white and the one in grey) were making quick glances at the guy, but they were facing somewhere else. That’s when I noticed that the guy in grey was trying to kick a bag away the guy who was eating. I assumed that the bag belonged to the clueless guy, and that the two men were accomplices, even though they weren’t talking to each other.

My heart raced. I knew what was happening — these two guys were stealing the poor man’s bag. I wanted to help, but my heart was beating so fast. If I say something, how sure am I that the two guys (or if they have other accomplices) would not hurt me? I looked around to see if there are any security guards but I couldn’t see any. I wanted to stand up and look for a security personnel but what if the bag gets stolen before I return?

I was panicking. I know how quick these guys can be when doing their crime, and I had to think quick. What I did was to transfer to a seat near the clueless guy and ask him if he is alone. He said yes, and I was able to confirm that the two guys who were kicking his bag away from him were not his companions.

I whispered to him and said, “Kuya, yung bag mo, ilipat mo ng pwesto kasi sinisipa na palayo nung lalake sa likod mo.” (Sir, put your bag in the other side because the guy behind you is kicking your bag away from you.)

He thanked me and put his bag in a more secure place, and that’s when I stood up from my seat to look for a security personnel. I told them what happened and described how the two guys looked like, what they were wearing, etc. He said something to the other security guard near him, and he thanked me. I went back to my seat to finish my meal. The two guys disappeared. A few minutes later, me and my brother saw policemen roaming around the area. The guy finished eating and he said thanks again before leaving.

That was really scary, but after seeing the two guys do what they did, I just couldn’t keep quiet and do nothing. I know how it feels to be robbed of something, so it became instinct for me to do something when I see others being treated the same way. Also, my conscience would bother me forever if I just froze in my seat while a crime was being committed

I think my heart continued to beat really fast even if we were already outside that mall. My hands were shaking but I felt happy after helping someone I don’t even know.

I wanted to watch the Pacquiao-Mosley fight at the comport of my home so I subscribed to Cignal Digital TV Broadcasting and also request for the pay-per-view of the fight about a week ago (April 29, 2011). I got my dish and digital box installed last Friday, May 6, 2011. My family was so excited because we thought we’ll be having a good television signal this time.

I used to have a Skycable subscription but they keep on increasing their monthly subsciption fee and the reception is not that good so I had it terminated.

We gathered in front of the TV and waited for the technician to finish the installation. And at last!!! but to our dismay, there were only two channels available, TV5 and AKSYON TV owned and operated by the same company running the Cignal Digital TV. The technician told us that the subscription have to be activated in order to view the complete channel listed. I gladly told my kids that now we have two choices, use the antenna or watch the only channel available in the digital box for the moment.  I was advised to call and follow up my activation with the technical support group, which I religiously did for almost two days.  The technical support group advised me to call the local area support to send them the documents I signed so that’s what I did.  Then after several calls with the local area support they told me that they had sent the documents.  I called back the technical support group but was told that they had not receive the documents. After several rounds of going or calling back and forth the two support group, at last the technical support group confirmed that the documents was received and is now with the main office for activation.  I asked when will that be but the hell raising answer I got was “We don’t have access to that.  Just wait until the main office activates your account.”  OMG!!! A long discussion followed and I ended it with “If I won’t be able to watch the Pacquiao-Mosley fight on pay-per-view I want a refund!”  The TSG told me to just check if my account is activated until the fight starts.  Whew, wtf I have no choice.  Luckily when I check the signal at 6:00am May 8 its activated YEHHEEEY!!!!


I turned to the pay-per-view channel and told the kids to call me when the main fight is near.

When the Lopez-Arce bout was announcing the winner, I took my seat and waited anxiously for the main bout.  Suddenly an error appear on the TV and it said something about problem with signal.

OMG!!! WHAT THE …. not now I blurted.  I immediately called the tech support and told them the problem.  After several task I was told to do on the digital box and still no progress, my excitement was turned into fury and shouted over the phone “I want a full refund and you can pull off all the stuff you brought here!!!”  The kids turned on the radio and it was already round 3 and Mosley was down.  The fury toned down and I got excited again with the fight so I turned my attention  to the radio.  At round 10 while the announcer shouted “Manny is down and the referee is giving him the count,”  the TV signal came back and we were able to watch Pacquiao win the fight from then on.

I called back the tech support  and asked the person on the other end to send my apology to Joyce for shouting over the phone and I didn’t really mean the pull-out.  It was the bad timing of their signal that took me out of my senses.

I’m just hoping that they improve their service so things like this could be avoided.
