Hi,

I've got a set of sites that all deal with a particular related topic.

I'm looking to link them together to connect related information but am concerned that interlinking them all might look like suspicious to google.

So my question really is when does something start to look like a link farm? Is it at 10 sites interlinked, 100? 1000?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks! :)

For some time my site was on 7-11th position in google for a particular keyword. The change i made was adding a link page to my home page with some links to "not so good web directories". Next day i found my sit on 9th page in google results.
Could adding few bad links be the reason of such a dropping? I deleted link page but my serp is still bad:(

Hi
In the span of 2 days, our ranks dropped from 19 to 32 for a particular keyword, we are still wondering how/why. Let me give you some idea of what we did and what we changed in those 2 days. (I can't upload the image for reference here). I am using our website rank monitoring tool - kpmrs . com (sorry I can't place the full URL) to track my search engine rankings. I took the screen shot from that only. So anyway until 07/04 - we did nothing to optimize kpmrs for the keyword "website ranking" but still it was doing going up as you see in the chart. It was not in top 100 few weeks ago but on 4th July, it reached its peak - 19th on google .

On the same day, we changed our titles and some content. We added "website ranking" in the title, we added the same keyword
in the description of our home page content and in meta keywords. As soon as we did that, our ranks fell .

It is kind of weird. I have no clue why would the rank drop suddenly for the keyword which we added in title and content.

Can anyone suggest a practical reason ?

Thanks

Due to the advent of IE8 I have decided to add title attributes to most of my images so the subject is described on a mouseover. this used to happen in IE7 with the alt atribute, now its similar to Firefox and others in that alt attributes are not described on a mouseover...
As most of my traffic is from users using IE (although Firefox is coming up to almost 25% nowadays..) I decided to start on this horrendous job...I have several thousand images to "title" most of the time I am just repeating the alt attribute...

for example: <img src="home/dolphin.jpg" alt="Rebreather diver by Cedar Pride wreck" title="Rebreather diver by Cedar Pride wreck" width="250" height="188" />

So far I have rewritten 20 or so pages...I was wondering whether I am wasting my time?

I was also worried about using the same as the alt.. but that is what is supposed tobe used by screen readers is it not or do they use title..??

What do other members think on this subject...I am assuming it will be Ok SEO wise..how about google image search???

I will admit... This is rather a new concept to me. As in... I never actually thought that such a practice really existed, but here is the latest news release.

Google Public Policy Blog: Self-regulatory principles for behavioral advertising

Is anybody well versed enough to truly understand what exactly behavioral advertising is and how it is used to "increase the sale"?

I am almost certain this is why the advertisements inside facebook are so accurate and demeaning at the same time.

Doesn't this violate any of my rights as a human being? If it doesn't. No worries. I really don't think too many people would be bothered by it really. I am just asking because I don't really know.

And if it doesn't violate any of my rights as a human being. How does it effect a small businesses ability to do business? I mean does buying into the advertising practice give you greater control over who you target or does it just give bigger business better knowledge and regulation over small business practices?

I thought it was against most search engines guidelines to target users and change the content of your page based on how a user was referred to your website. Has this changed? Can I now cloak content and serve content to a user however I see fit?

Hi,

I have a question concerning SEO optimization for this website : filebuzz.com
The site hase aprox 60.000 products listed, but aprox 4.500.00 pages indexed in google ( site:filebuzz.com ) .

I've noticed on certain pages different anchor links that are generating pages for the same content. An example here filebuzz.com/files/Vb.net_Poker/1.html.

They are mixing randomly same products under different anchor text llinks (Poker - Superb Multi Table Poker Tournaments (hold\'em - Full Tilt Poker Sign Up Bonus Poker - Poker - Poker Pro - Wow Poker - Jeu Poker - Fun Poker - Vb.net Poker - Poker En C - Ai In Poker ).

I would like to know if, from your point of view this is in accordance with Google politics or is black hat SEO.

Thanks in advance

My Openion! yes
Why?
because

Search Engine Optimization, is sorely misunderstood for the most part by Internet Marketers. They think this is stuff for 'geeks only', but in reality, you should really LOVE these 3 words. You see, a properly optimized website, is like a magnet to search engines and attracts website visitors the same way moths are attracted to a light bulb on a dark night, and this sort of traffic that you get from the Search Engines is called "Organic Search Engine Traffic".

Organic Search Engine Traffic is simply put, "Type-In Traffic". People arrive at your website because they typed in a keyword or a phrase that is relevant to your website, and because your site had proper optimization, your site shows up in the first few positions of the search results and gets the click-thru from the searcher

I am working on an ecommerce website with dynamic content. I have a product list page which is also a major landing page. I noticed when I decided to divide my product list page into 2 pages my bounce rate lowered 6% - 7% but now webmaster tools is complaining that there is duplicate content, meta keywords, title, and description on the productlist page 2. It's just basically pulling the same data from the server for productlist page 1 and 2 and the developers say it's going to be very hard to make page 2 grab different data.

What should I sacrifice, the higher bounce rate or the duplicate content?
