I really adore this a lot because of the most flexible and great alertbox, i starting to used this for some of my web projects.

Slim LightBox

I found a useful as well if you are very familiar with lightbox then this is not new to you, but only this version is in mootools compatible, i know there are many out ther who have different version which is compatible in different javascript libraries such like JQuery, YUI, Prototype etc. But since this is Mootools compatible i prefer to this although this is not only the lightbox i known with mootools compatible, but not a bad one.

jQuery Resources - 8 essential sites

This is a great collection resources, for most web designers in JQuery.

The use of javascript has been a contentious issue in the world of web development over the past few years; too much animation can give off a ‘tacky’ feel, whereas complete static sites just seem a little ‘under-done’.

With the rise of the equally contentious concept of web2.0, the use of javascript/ajax has come back to the forefront. However, instead of bloated javascript code encroaching into your (x)html, we are now treated to fancy javascript libraries from which we can call lines. No longer are pages flying about all over the place, smooth transitions and sleek drop-downs are on the menu. Today we are looking at the lovely jQuery library, and without further delay - Top jQuery Resources.

1. The official site - always a great place to start, documentation, downloads - your first stop.

Well it took me a lot longer than I had originally expected but I was able to track down the original links to more than thirty PDF documents that I have collected over the past couple of years. I have personally archived every one of these files due to the high quality of content. No matter what you call them; ebook, white paper, or resource they all contain information that no designer should go without. (In actuality there are more than 30 files however it was a good round number for the title…)

Since the Internet emerged as a major force, altering everything from the way people work to the way they date, it has been a roller-coaster ride that made the world giddy. Microsoft (MSFT), Netscape, et al. fought the browser wars, Web standards were championed, and the Web became community-minded and social, ushering in the reign of Facebook, Flickr (YHOO), and YouTube. From boom to bust and back again, with staggering amounts of money changing hands at every point, the online industry rides on with no end in sight.

The Net has also attracted prophets, gurus, theorists, and evangelists of every stripe. Many of their promised game-changing technologies—Jini, DHTML, and countless others—never panned out, while seemingly simple innovations—metadata, XML, and CSS—have led to major breakthroughs. Meanwhile, Web design vogues from the effervescent jumble of HotWired to the stark utility of Google (GOOG) have continued to evolve and become more contradictory—and entrenched.

To try and make sense of it all, BusinessWeek.com canvassed a broad range of Internet luminaries to discover the design rules they live by right now. Contributors ranged from the guru of Web usability, Don Norman, co-founder of the Nielsen Norman Group, to the design director of NYTimes.com, Khoi Vinh, and John Maeda, president-elect of the Rhode Island School of Design. These 10 commandments of Web design for 2008 are the combined results of our survey. For the full list of contributors, see the end of the story.

1. Thou shalt not abuse Flash.

Adobe's (ADBE) popular Web animation technology powers everything from the much-vaunted Nike (NKE) Plus Web site for running diehards to many humdrum banner advertisements. But the technology can easily be abused—excessive, extemporaneous animations confuse usability and bog down users' Web browsers.

2. Thou shalt not hide content.

Advertisements may be necessary for a site's continued existence, but usability researchers say pop-ups and full-page ads that obscure content hurt functionality—and test a reader's willingness to revisit. Elective banners—that expand or play audio when a user clicks on them—are much less intrusive.

3. Thou shalt not clutter.

The Web may be the greatest archive of all time, but sites that lack a coherent structure make it impossible to wade through information. Amazon.com (AMZN) and others put their sites' information hierarchy at the top of their list of design priorities.

4. Thou shalt not overuse glassy reflections.

Apple (AAPL) often sets the standard for slick and cool—in all forms of design. But some experts say the company's habit of creating glassy reflections under photos of its products has been far too commonly copied, turning the style element into a cliché.

5. Thou shalt not name your Web 2.0 company with an unnecessary surplus or dearth of vowels.

The Web has brought with it a strange nomenclature that's only got weirder over time. Hip, smart Web sites have been named either with a superfluous number of vowels or strategically deleted ones. Cases in point: Flickr, Smibs, and Meebo. These names are memorable but destined to sound dated.

6. Thou shalt worship at the altar of typography.

Designers say that despite the increase in broadband penetration, plain text has gotten a second wind in cutting-edge Web design. Mainstream sites such as Craigslist have led the way, while designer-oriented sites such as Coudal Partners and John Gruber's popular Daring Fireball blog represent the cutting edge.

7. Thou shalt create immersive experiences.

Merely looking good doesn't cut it anymore. Sites like Facebook and YouTube draw in users with compelling content and functionality. Creating Web sites that can capture and hold users' attention is what matters most.

8. Thou shalt be social.

Web 2.0 is everywhere. MySpace (NWS) and similar sites only launched the trend of having users communicate and interact—sometimes obsessively—on browser-based sites. Designers are now filtering those same elements into diverse sites, from smart advertising to online office productivity.

9. Thou shalt embrace proven technologies.

Wikipedia, YouTube, Facebook, and their cohorts have become a part of daily life. Sites that can incorporate these elements into their design will connect with users in a meaningful way by providing functionality and an interface with which they're already familiar.

10. Thou shalt make content king.

Though the slogan is old, it still stands. Aesthetic design can only go so far in making a site successful. Beautiful can't make up for empty.

The Five Most Common Mistakes of Male Freelancers

As a freelancer i really love to read some articles about freelancing, because you will get a lot of tips from other freelancers on how they success on their life being a freelancer. So i would like to share this post come from FreelanceSwitch. If you love their post you could subscribe their.

1. Your desk is not your home

“You men,” my wife once said, as I slaved over some copy late at night, “are so prone to workaholism.”

There’s no denying that women do this too, but for every workaholic female I’ve met, there have been five guys burning the midnight oil. Women are better at this thing called “having rational boundaries.”

That groove in your chair? That’s not meant to be there. Just because you work from home does not mean you have to check your email within five minutes of waking up, or stick around until midnight because your clients in other countries are only just waking up. Email exists for a reason.

Make sure you spend no longer than eight hours a day at the desk, unless you’re on a deadline. If you’re pulling more than one or two long deadline-driven days a week, it’s time to raise your rates and take advantage of the increased demand.

Similarly, five-and-a-half-days a week is a good maximum ceiling for work time, and frequent breaks –- away from the desk –- should be taken throughout the day. To those who are working seven days a week, twelve hours a day: this is not helping you. You will be more productive on eight hours, five days a week. I guarantee it.

2. Freelancing is no excuse for poor hygiene

One day you’re going to wind up with a client who decides to drop around your house unexpectedly to see how their project is coming along. This is called karma, because nature is so offended at your smell that it’s delivering a wake up call.

Not only should you avoid checking your email upon waking, you should avoid working before showering. No deadline could be that bad.

3. Counter-Strike is not a billable activity

It’s important to take breaks, but not only should they be taken away from the screen, they should not last for hours at a time. Us guys all know how tempting it is to prove our masculinity to ourselves by kicking terrorist backside for “just one more round” so if you do opt for the gaming (or web-surfing, for that matter) mode of relaxation during your break, have the nearest human being come and slap you back into work mode after a pre-specified amount of time.

4. Don’t let ego destroy good work

Guys have egos. Sometimes guys let that ego dominate their relationships, their work, and hence, their reputation. It’s one thing to self-promote and build a good brand. It’s another to be known as the guy who needs surgery in order to remove his head from its current location and have it placed back atop his neck.

5. Follow this advice

While this post was written for the benefit of female freelancers, there are of course men who suffer from the same problems. For instance, I often find it difficult to charge the rate I know I should or need to charge. Give it a read and apply the advice (and then, perhaps, take a shower).

Liam’s Pictures from Old Books - Scanned images, engravings and pictures from old books. Over 2100 high resolutions images are available.

MorgueFile - This is a site that contains free high resolution digital stock photography for either corporate or public use. I reference this site on a regular basis.

NOAA Photo Library - Gorgeous science, and nature shots including tornados, hurricanes and other weather tragedies, polar region photos, coral reefs and more.

PD Photo.org - Royalty Free, Public Domain Stock Photos There are thousands of photos nicely divided into hundreds of categories. There is a search feature which will reduce your search time. Good one to check out for sure.

Photocase - This is a community run site with really great photos. Not your typical stock photography but still amazing. There are photos here that you couldn’t even imagine. Search by keyword or color.

Photogen - Lots of unique photos but I didn’t find a search feature. Also these photos were not separated into easy to find categories.

Openphoto.net - Nice selection and a variety of permissions. Interesting categories such as macro, recreation, art and colors. This one is worth a look.

Open Stock - This site will keep you busy. Lots of photos. You must use the search feature to get you started. This site is powered by trynt, yahoo and wikipedia. This one you should also check out.

Stock.xchng - Large selection of free photos. They also have a search feature which aids in finding what you want and a welcomed hover feature for close-ups.

Studio.25 - Amazing resource. This is a must see and really easy to use. Search or use the categories and then finally see close- ups with the hover feature.

Turbo Photo - 2000 free stock photos available for download. A search feature makes this site easy to use.

Unprofound.com - This is a nice site. You can search by keywords or by color. Unusual collection of photos because they are not your typical stock photos. You might enjoy this site. It’s non-profit with no advertising.

USDA - United States Department of Agriculture Nice site of Animals, Crops, Fruits & Veggies, Insects and other agricultural categories.

Vintage Pixels - Interesting site since all photos are black and white historical photos. You must be a member to download photos but membership is free. Each photo has details to see the approximate date the photo was taken. This site is like taking a walk through history.

Visipix.com - This site has photos and fine art that is free to use as long as you place the photographer’s name near. 6 sizes are offered for each photo.

Aarin FreePhoto.com - 950 free photos with link back requirement. Nice site.

AMG Media Works, Inc - Catogory names such as desktop objects, funky things, and cool objects don’t really help you find what you are looking for so happy browsing.

Amygdela’s Atmosphere - Enjoyable site just redesigned with interesting geographic categories, photos of the sun, cityscapes and Antarctica.

Barry’s Free Photos - Over 2300 Free photos in the following categories: Animals, Agriculture, Aviation, Industry, Travel, Transportation and so many more. Really worth the look!

Bigfoto.com - I like this site. It’s completely free and the categories are divided into countries such as America, Asia, Europe, Africa, Pacific. They have a theme section that has Human, nature, backgrounds, close-ups, food and other unusual categories. Check this one out for your next project!

BurningWell.org - This is a public domain image source. All are free to use. You can browse the photos or use their search feature. The little time I spent on this site didn’t impress me too much. But maybe I just didn’t search long enough for the diamond in the rough.

Cepolina Photo - This site has a large selection of photos divided into categories as well as a search feature. One thing I like about this site is that you can search by color. So if you need an image with orange in it, you can search in that manner.

Creating Online - Nice selection of free photos. This site has a hover over feature to see a larger version of the thumbnail. Photos are categorized into many many categories too numerous to list here.

Design Packs - Free Image Collections for web designers. Each month a new collection is put together which is theme based. A really nice find! Check this out.

Dreamstime - This is an area where photographers can advertise themselves by donating one free photo. The content varies and there isn’t a search feature.

DeviantART - Click the Browse button to browse the photos. However I found it easier to click browse then on the next page click the “categories” button to narrow down the search. This is a must see site as well. The Macro category should simply amaze you.

Every stock photo - Nice selection of photos. The best way to get started is by using the search feature.

Free Digital Photos - All photos are free for web resolution. Print resolutions can be purchased at either $5 or $10. Photos are separated into categories and the site has a search feature.

Free Images - 2500 original stock photos to choose from. The site is divided into categories and the categories are quite diverse.

FreePhotos.com - Over 4000 free photos. This site has photos in a large range of categories.

Free Photos Bank - This site is divided into categories. Nice selection.

Freerange - A search feature makes this site work. You must be a member to download but membership is free.

Free Stock Photos - Download free photos for your personal/commercial design projects. Categories such as : Animals, Architecture, Business & Finance, Food & Drink, People and more.

Fontplay - 10,000 free photos. Divided into a limited number of categories. Not the most eye catching site, but they do have nice categories.

Currently this site has 270+ backgrounds to select from. I think this site has a nice “current” selection of quality backgrounds. This is a site I’d highly recommend.

Limelite
Photo textures to use to create different looks. Very unusual selection that you should find interesting.

Milleseicentopercento
Small selection however they are very much in style for today’s web design trends. Must see.

Power Directory
Over 8000 backgrounds. Many of the categories are outdated, however the realistic categories such as stone, wood, and nature had some useful backgrounds.

RepeatXY
Download gorgeous backgrounds or edit them for your use by using their editor. Also search this site by color. Nice site, a must visit site!

Squidfingers
Really unique and dramatic backgrounds here! If you are looking for unusual color combinations this is a nice place to look.

Some very nice backgrounds here. It takes only a minute to look through their selection. I saw some really nice potential backgrounds here. This site also has a preview feature so you can get a nice idea of what the background looks like.

337 current textures including grunge, dirt, concrete, plaster, rust and more.

Some really interesting categories of high resolution photos. My favorite is smoke, see if you can fine a favorite category.

Web Design Resource for Free Patterns, Backgrounds and Textures

When it’s time to select the right background for your new web design project, take a look through this list of 32 sites filled with patterns, textures, seamless backgrounds, and high resolution photo textures. Adding visual interest to a website header or page background has never been easier.

You’ll be relieved to know I didn’t add seamless background sites from the 1990’s and early 2000’s. A few of these sites listed are a bit outdated however if they are listed it’s because I found some categories that I felt were timeless and useful. The rest of the resources provide current options for today’s sophisticated designers. Bookmark this article for future use.

3Quarks
A rather small selection of backgrounds that include categories such as paper, canvas, wallpaper, cardboard and Japanese papers. Very soft colors.

Absolute Background Textures Archive
Archive is a great term since it houses 5740 different textures. Don’t let that amount of textures overwhelm you. You can search by either color or by pattern. And if you want to preview a background, select it and watch the page background change.

All Free Backgrounds
Nice selection. Search by color or pattern and preview the background for more detail.

Amazing Textures
88 free photo textures.

Amurai Shizoo
This site has spectacular backgrounds. The only downside is you can’t get a good view of them without downloading. But I think you’ll find it worth the effort.

Auto FX Software
Excellent selection of seamless textures and backgrounds. You will need to sign up for an account but membership is free.

Background City
Search this site for backgrounds by either groups or themes.

Bravenet

CG Textures
Photo textures with many unique categories. The selection is large and impressive and easy to look through since the site has a nice menu tree that is well labeled.

Citrus Moon Patterns
This site has a fairly large selection. The nice thing is that you can search by color which often helps in reducing the browsing time.

COLOURlovers
One of the more recent additions to this site is their category of patterns. The variety is growing daily so this is a site that you must check out.

Createsk8

If you are a user of Illustrator you must see these patterns and textures. These contemporary textures will give your designs the current backdrops we are looking for. There are a few packs that are available for PhotoShop users as well. Be sure to checkout the “textures” category as well.

2008 Web Design Trends

I would like to share this post which talks about the new trends web design in 2008, You will notice how truly the world wide web evolves as the years goes by, and now it become more artistic and creative which goes into the next level.

Anyway i would like to share this post from Web Designer Wall which talk about the best compilation websites, on the new trend Design of 2008.

About a year ago, I compiled a huge list of artistic sites. It seems like the trend has carried on in 2008 and is growing stronger (thank God the glossy style is gone). So what’s hot now? Pencil sketches, handwritten notes, card stocks, watercolor effects, collage art, script fonts, grungy and splatter ink backgrounds (glossy gradients are not "in" this year). 10 SEO Rules for Designers

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a vital component of any website. As a web designer or blogger, it’s important you understand how SEO works. Here are ten easy rules that will immediately improve the SEO on all of your web sites.

This is a guest article written by Joshua Jeffrey’s who describes himself as a “busybody in the local and national design/web world” - you can read more about him on his blog.

Rule Zero: Do Not Cheat. Period.

If you walked into a room full of genius scientists with PHDs, do you think you could outsmart them all? No. Google has hundreds of rooms full of genius scientists with PHDs, and their job is to work 60 hours a week to make sure you can’t fool Google. You can’t outsmart them. Ever. Ignore any advice on trying to cheat the system and focus on making great web sites with great content, and your sites will show up fine in searches.

Rule One: Stick to Your Keywords

Pick a few keywords or phrases that describe your site. Use them, and words related to them, whenever it’s natural to do so. Repeating them uselessly is no good (rule Zero), use them in sentences, headlines, and links.

Rule Two: Content is King

Users don’t search for design, they search for content. If your site doesn’t have content people want, no one will look at it.

Every page on your site should follow the Inverted Pyramid. Each page should lead with a relevant H1 tag with one of your keywords, and the first paragraph of text should be a summary of the rest of the page.

Rule Three: Clean Code is Searchable Code

Build your sites in a text editor, and write clean, human-readable HTML. The HTML should follow the conceptual structure of the page, navigation first, followed by the H1 tag, then the first paragraph, etc. Try to use descriptive tags when possible. Use UL for lists, P for paragraphs, H tags for heads and subheads, and STRONG for bolded text. Don’t overuse Divs.

Your site can still be artistic and cool, that’s what CSS is for.

Rule Four: The Home Page is the Most Important Page

Your home page is the key to your site being found by search engines. It should summarize the rest of the site, and give a clear, compelling reason for a user to look at the other pages in the site.

Rule Five: Links Have Meaning

Search engines pay a lot of attention to the links on your site, and the words used in those links. Never use “click here” or “see more” for a link. The link text should describe where the link will take the user, such as “more examples of CSS web design” or “learn how we can improve your SEO.”

The more relevant the links on a page, the more findable the page becomes. Don’t go overboard, and don’t link to anything irrelevant. If your page is focused on minimalist web design, a link to the Design MeltDown page on minimalism will boost your SEO. A link to a hilarious picture of a cat will not.

Rule Six: Title Tags for the Win

Every page in your site should have a title with the site name and a short description of the page. About 60 letters total. Include a keyword. Remember that the page title is what appears in search results, it should give users a clear reason to click on it.

Your navigation links should have title attributes that match the titles of your pages. This looks like . It’s a small thing, but it will give you a significant SEO improvement.

Rule Seven: Alt Tags Matter

Every image on your site should have an alt tag. Especially images that are relevant to the page. If your page is focused on CSS tricks, labelling a screenshot “example of rounded CSS corners” will improve your page’s findability. Labelling it “screenshot” or “image” will do the opposite.

Rule Eight: Ignore Most Meta Tags

A long time ago meta tags were the secret to SEO. Those days are gone. The only meta tag that really matters now is the description tag. Search engines may use it to provide the text under the link to your page in their results. Make sure it describes the page in a way that explains why a user searching for your content would want to look at your page.

Rule Nine: Have a Site Map

Make sure you have a site map. This is an xml file that describes the structure of your page. Make one, and give it to Google.

Rule Ten: Design for Humans

Search engines are designed to find what humans want. That means the best way to make your site findable is to design it for humans. Your job as a designer is to solve a problem, not make art, prove a point, serve your ego or break a boundry. In this case, your problem is to provide your users with a site that is easy to use and full of what they’re looking for. If you can do that, the search engines will find you.

Before you want to start to create a new website, you need to think about how the website will earn revenue. Either you create a hobby website, or a commercial website, you need to think always at the revenue.

You need to think where you will place ads on your website.

All this networks have the same image ads in common.

Leaderboard (728 x 90)
Banner (468 x 60)
Button (125x125)
Half Banner (234x60)

Small Square (200 x 200)

It is very important how you place the ads on your page, because these tiny ads will bring you a lot of money.

Before you start designing your website is very important to create on a paper or in photoshop a map of your future website.

I will create a new document with the following size:

910 pixels wide
1000 pixels high
Use a white background.

Select rectangular marquee tool and use the following settings like in the following image:

I am using this image banner, because since I have learned to play with photoshop, I have created thousand of banners with this size, and only a few with other sizes.

Then create a new layout. To create a new layout please press in the same time on (CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+N ). You will see a new layer in the layer palette.

With rectangular marquee tool make a click on your layout. You will have a new selection:

Grab Paint Bucket Tool, and fill the selection with a grey color ( #333333 )
Press CTRL+D to make the selection disappear.
Now with the same tool, Rectangular marquee tool, create a new selection ( this time with another values 728x90 pixels )
With the same method as above we will create another banner spot.

You can use any methods you want to place your banner ads, but I think this is the best one ( IMO )
Now we will start to create our design for this game layout.
Select Rounded rectangle tool ( set the radius to 45 ) –VERY IMPORTANT !!!

Than create a simple shape on your document. The size should be similar with mine

Now ( very important ) go to Edit > Transform > warp ( available only in CS2 or above ) and use the following settings:

After you hit enter on your keyboard you will have the following result

With this layer selected press on CTRL+T (transform tool) and modify the width of this shape:
NOTE : I will add another layer alone, to see the difference between both layers

Left click on your Red shape layer, and chose rasterize layer

Then with Rectangular Marquee Tool make some selections like mine on your red shape ( because we will delete unwanted areas of this shape )

Hit Delete on your keyboard, then CTRL+D

With the same method as above you can delete also the right part of this red shape. This is the remaining part of the shape. With this small piece of shape we will make great looking buttons, and details. You will see later

For this small shape please add the following layer styles

This is my result

Hold the CTRL key down, and with the left mouse button click on the layer thumbnail

You will make a selection around the red shape

Create a new layer above this one, and with a round smooth brush add some shadows

Now it is time to add a color to our background. Select paint Bucket tool, and set the foreground color to #2d2d2d. Click one time, on the background layer.
Now you can see better how the shape looks on this black background

Duplicate the red shape , and place it under the white one

For this red shape please add the following layer styles

With Polygonal Lasso Tool make a selection

Create a new layer, and with brush tool (smooth round brush) add some white details. We will create a small star. For this task you need to change the brush opacity to 30 %

Then click on CTRL+D and hide the selection. With Brush tool, add another lights until you have something like me

Now we have one of the most important images for this layout. Select all the layers you have created for this, and press CTRL+E ( this shortcut will merge all the layers into a single one. )

Duplicate this layer a few times, ( to duplicate a layer you need to have the layer selected in your layer palette , then press CTRL+J )
Go to Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontally

Duplicate one more time one layer and rotate it : Edit > Transform > Rotate 180

I will make another clone of this layer ( CTRL+J ) and I will place it like in the following image

You will notice a gap between those 2 layers from the middle. we will fix this issue right now. select one of the 2 layers, and with Rectangular Marquee Tool, make a selection like mine

One more time be sure you have the layer selected in your layer palette, then click on CTRL+J ( this shortcut will create a new layer via copy.

Press on CTRL+T to bring the transform controls, and then set the width of this layer until all 3 layers look good

With the same technique as above fill the remaining areas with some lines. see the arrows from the following image

We are almost ready with our header. What we have to do is to duplicate the same layers several times. I will not explain how to move a layer from one part to another part. I am sure is a very simple task and even a amateur can do this
After playing little with this layers I came up with the following result ( image resized )

Now select Rounded Rectangle toll, and create some white shape ( in my case I will create first the shapes with a blue color – so you can see better what I am doing ) IMAGE RESIZED

Now I will turn myself to the color I want. : white

I will create a reflection for the bottom of the layout. For this I need to duplicate the last layer you have seen on the photo from above :
To duplicate the layer press on CTRL+J , After that go to Edit > Transform > Flip Vertically
Then with Move tool ( Press V ) place the layer like in the following image

Select eraser tool, and be sure you have selected a soft rounded brush. Delete gentle the bottom part of this layer

Now all you need to do is to change the opacity value for this layer to 40 %

Select Rectangle Tool, and make a shape like mine

For this shape please add the following layer styles (this layer style is included in Photoshop Designer’s Pack)

Drag this layer right above the background layer. This is my result

Now let’s start adding some details on this layout. please go to :

Download this set of Pixel Brushes and load them in Photoshop

Create a new layer ( press CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+N ) then with brush tool add some lines on our menu and also some text with type tool ( I have used the following font : Tahoma, 11 px , Set the anti-aliasing method to : None

We will create a user login area. For this you need to create 2 shapes with rectangle tool

After that add another 2 buttons on the right side

For this 2 buttons please add the following layer styles

This is the result

Now add some text in this area

I have forgotten to say that I have placed an image on our layout. To place a new image in an existing document you need to open the image you want to add, and with move tool, you need to drag the image on your layout.

The next step is to add another image in the middle of the layout. As you can see I will place the image with a little bit of opacity. In this way you can see better how can you place the image.

Now you have to load the selection for the layer behind this image. To load the selection you need to select the layer in your layer palette, and then hold down the CTRL Key, and with the left mouse button , click on the layer thumbnail (this step was explained at the beginning of our tutorial )

You will have this selection around the shape

Be sure you have the layer with assassins’ creed image, then click on CTRL+SHIFT+I ( this will inverse your selection )

Click Delete on your keyboard or go to Edit > Clear

Click on CTRL+D ( deselect )

Load the selection for the 250x250 banner

Select one more time the layer with this game render , and hit delete
CTRL+D to deselect
Now I will show you the image with 100 % opacity

You can see under the 250x250 banner also a part from this image. I will select rectangular marquee tool , and I will delete this part of the image

Now load the selection for the image

Go to Select > Modify > Contract and use the following settings

This is my result

Click On CTRL+SHIFT+I ( select inverse )
Go to Edit > Clear
Click on CTRLD ( deselect )

you should have something like mine

For this image add the following layer styles

This is my result

Select Rounded Rectangle Tool, and create a shape like mine

Rasterize the layer by right clicking on the shape layer

Then load the selection for the game image

Go to Select > Modify > Contract ( use contract by 1 pixel )
Press on CTRL+SHIFT+I
Be sure you have the layer with this black shape selected, then go to Edit > Clear
Ctrl + D to deselect

This is my result

Change the opacity value to 60 %

Then you can add some text over this black shape

On the bottom of our layout we will add some images and some text

Now for the images please add the following layer style

If you have Photoshop Designer’s Pack, and then load the Web Arrows brushes
On a new layer please add some details

With the same brushes you can add a few details also on the top part of this layout. in the same time I will add some text , and some flags

Now we will create a 3D Logo for this game layout. I will not explain how I have created this logo because I have already created 3-4 logo tutorials.
