Are you dreaming of becoming a teen model Perhaps you have recently seen the exposure teen models receive online and on popular TV. shows such as Americas Top Model Modeling continues to be a sought after career and teen models are very much in high demand.
Models that prepare well in advance garner the best chances of success. Of course the most important aspect in any potential teen models arsenal is the image portfolio. A professional, high quality image portfolio is crucial when seeking model jobs and representation from both online and offline agencies. The Teen modeling industry is extremely competitive and requires a great deal of hard work and dedication. So if it is your wish to become a model, put on your best modeling expression and read on
When most people think of models they envision beautiful, glamorous individuals with perfect physics. While this may be true for some advertisements and aspects, it is also true that there are many modeling jobs in which the advertisers are seeking an average appearance. Often a teen model with an average appearance provides a more realistic atmosphere and gains trust with the audience.
Did you know that there are many different types of jobs available for teen models of a vast variety of appearance ranges Did you ever wonder how some of the biggest names in the fashion industry manage to get their break The answer lies in commitment and breaking stereotypes. Whether you consider teen models, ramp models, or print models; modeling as a career option is full of stereotypes that include fair skin, blonde hair, a perfect figure, long legs, etc. Dont be swayed by the glitz and glamour. Look behind these to see the sweat, the tears, and the competition. The most important thing about modeling is that you need to be dedicated, smart, and perseverant.
Many people today believe that modeling consists mostly of runway and print work. The truth is there are many different types of opportunities out there for teen models. Teen models have an advantage of an early start and are often preferred models for the fashion industry. Often teen models represent a large consumer based market and therefore are sought after in order to connect with this youthful market generation. In order to provide yourself with the best chance of success, you must make sure your tools are in place. A professional and creatively presented model portfolio is the most important tool for any model. When auditioning for teen modeling jobs, make sure you keep your expectations realistic and confidence level up. One rejection is really not the end of the world. So don t feel discouraged.
Teen models need to manage their time wisely and balance many aspects of their life. From school to work and family, you will need commitment and excellent time management skills. This can sometimes become difficult to young models. Just as professional athletes, teen models require a great deal of dedication and perseverance. The MANTRA to becoming successful child models and teen models is remembering the 4 D s; Desire, Dedication, Determination, and last but not the least, Devotion.
So you still wish to become a model Be prepared for any eventuality such as traveling alone, discovering new places, getting lost, losing your baggage, and meeting new people. The life of a teen model can be both frustrating and exciting. Since teen models are young, they may feel over awed by the enormity of some situations. But don t let that pull you down. Stay positive.
As in any other industry, professionalism can take you places. Professional teen models have increase their odds of wining big modeling assignments than child models that have laid back attitude. When you go for a meeting always appear at your best. Wear a business suit, carry your updated model portfolio, act professionally, and speak in the right language. Avoid using slangs or profanity.
Finally, when you act in the proper manner, you make the right friends and are more likely to get more work.<p style="padding: 6px; border:1px dashed #FFCC00;">

An art show is the bread and butter of every artists livelihood. You cant expect a person to lock himself, or herself, up in a room for weeks and all of a sudden generate money out of thin air for a new t shirt. Artists need to set up art shows to publicize and hopefully sell their work.
In American English, an art show may be called an "art exhibit", "exposition", or "art exhibition". In UK English, art shows are always called "art shows" or "art exhibitions", never "exposition", with individual art pieces in the show called an "exhibit".
In art shows, there are art show guides. The term art show guide means two things. The first meaning refers to an art show staff responsible for showing the guests around the exhibit, explaining things here and there about the artist or details about each individual art piece.
They are similar to museum guides, you can say that.
The second one refers to any reading material about the art shows themselves, be it a guide on how to start up your own art show, or a brochure about a particular art show taking place in the area.
Aside from art shows, there are also art festivals and art festival guides. Art festivals are larger events that cater to several artists and hundreds of guest all in a single event. Art festival guides, on the other hand, they are pretty much the same in definition and purpose with art show guides.
Youll never get lost in an art show with the proper art show guide in hand.<p style="padding: 6px; border:1px dashed #FFCC00;">

One very important lesson I learned is that there is no one, all purpose (Universal) stringing material.

Here are the major stringing materials along with how and when to use each of them.

SILK THREAD: Silk has a wondrous "hand" (a soft, flexible feel). This thread comes in many sizes and colors. It comes packaged on spools, and "carded" with an attached needle. This is a classic stringing material and forms beautiful knots between pearls and beads. But, silk tends to be relatively fragile. It can stretch, be cut by abrasive beads, rot when wet, and pearls strung on silk should be re strung every few years. It is best to use silk when stringing pearls and lightweight, smooth holed beads, only. A needle is necessary.

NYLON THREAD: (Nymo): This thread also comes in many sizes and colors. It comes packaged on spools, on bobbins, and "carded" with a needle attached. Nylon can be used where ever silk can and is not as fragile. This material knots beautifully and can be used for pearl stringing, in some strung jewelry, seed beadwork, loom weaving, for Peyote and other specialty stitches, and heishi.

Nylon stretches much less than silk, and it wont rot when wet. Like silk, you shouldnt use beads with sharp edged holes or that are heavy. When you use nylon thread, I would recommend you coat your thread with bees wax or "Thread HeavenTM" before use to prevent it from fraying. A needle is necessary.

BONDED NYLON: This is a much stronger form of nylon thread. The strands are physically bonded together for extra strength and abrasion protection. Although it knots well, it doesnt have the "hand" of silk. Bonded nylon comes in a variety of colors and smaller spools. Because of its abrasion resistance, you can use it with "hard", more abrasive gem beads; in fact this comes close to being a "Universal Thread". Brand names include: "Stringth" or "Silkon". A needle is necessary, although you can put "Super Glue" on the end to form a "Self needle". This is a favorite beading material of mine.

FISHING LINE: This material is a hard, semi rigid, single strand of plastic. It doesnt knot well, and in time sunlight or ultraviolet light can cause it to weaken and fall apart. Fishing line is purchased on small spools and is sold in sporting goods stores. Personally, I use fishing line for two purposes. I use it to do my preliminary stringing while I am designing a necklace (I transfer the beads to a better material for the final product), and to string together "raw" strands of beads. There is no needle necessary. I would never use this material for a final beaded piece.<p style="padding: 6px; border:1px dashed #FFCC00;">

Block printing or the practice of reproducing text or images by inking a relief surface was an old and well understood technology long before William Caxton set up his first English printing press in 1476. The earliest recorded examples of block printing come from China as a means of transferring designs and text to cloth or paper. The earliest surviving examples of patterned cloth prints date from around 220 AD although the process was undoubtedly old even then. The first printed newspapers were in circulation in Beijing by 713 AD.
In principle, the techniques used by the ancient Chinese printmakers were little different to those used by artists working in linocut today. Since the invention of linoleum (lino, to you and me) would have to wait until the 1860s, they worked primarily in wood to provide the relief master.
Linoleum was patented by Englishman Fredrick Walton in 1860. In 1864, he formed the Linoleum Manufacturing Company and by 1869 was exporting his new floor covering across Europe and the United States. Linoleum is produced by a process of overlaying solidified linseed oil mixed with cork dust or "woodflour" (very fine milled sawdust) on a burlap, jute or canvas backing sheet. The fact that the oil and wood/cork overlay can easily be carved away from the backing medium makes lino eminently suitable for use in printmaking. A note of caution, though: while modern PVC flooring is often referred to as "lino", it is quite different in its properties and, because of its composition is quite unsuited to printmaking.
In essence, the techniques used in woodblock and linoleum printmaking are quite similar, and would be familiar to any child whos ever made a potato print in art class. A design is produced and transferred to the surface of the woodblock or linoleum plate. The artist then uses a sharp knife or "V" shaped chisel to carve away the part of the surface which (s)he does not wish to receive ink. The raised (uncarved) areas of the plate now form a "Bass Relief" in mirror image of the area to be printed. The surface of the plate is then inked, usually using a roller or "Brayer" and, finally, an impression made of the design onto the print medium (wood, paper, card or whatever). This process can be repeated a number of times to provide multiple colours on the same print, either by using different plates or by successively carving more of the surface away from the same plate a process known as the Reductive Method. The Reductive Method has the advantage that once the plate has been reduced for the application of the second colour, repeat impressions of the original print cannot be made therefore the integrity of the edition is maintained.
It is important to ensure that the position of the plate (sometimes known as registration) is repeated as accurately as possible when making successive imprints. The character of the finished work will also be influenced greatly by the evenness or otherwise of pressure used. The surest way of achieving even pressure is through use of a press which clamps the relief plate to the surface of the receiving medium. A press is not essential, however, and devices such as pressure from the back of a spoon or bamboo covered "baren" can be used for a more sophisticated manner.
Although the techniques are similar, there are subtle differences in both the way in which artists use the mediums of wood or linoleum for printmaking and in the character of the finished artworks. The first practitioners of linocut in artwork, such as Fritz Bleyl and Erich Heckel of the Die Brucke Group, described their work as Woodcut, perhaps partly to appear more acceptable to a conservative art establishment but there are definite pros and cons to both media.
Perhaps the most obvious advantage of the use of Linoleum in printmaking is the relative ease with which it can be cut and carved. Deep relief cuts can be made simply by cutting the surface composite back to the backing sheet and peeling the unwanted area away. Shallower, more intricately detailed grooves are more easily cut into the relatively pliant surface material than would be the case in even a softwood block. However, wood is a considerably more durable material which means that the finished plate will last longer and be capable of more repeated use for printmaking than a similar design inscribed in linoleum. Wood is also more suited to larger scale works than linoleum due to its greater inherent strength and stability. Some artists argue that linoleum printmaking lacks the character and individuality of woodblock, with its unique and distinctive grain pattern. Others such as Matt Hilton have argued that the differences in surface characteristics between different types of lino, its reaction to variations in temperature and even the ease with which the surface can be inscribed with tools as unlikely as wire wool, produce an equally distinctive individual character to linoleum printmaking.
Despite the early reservation of the earliest practitioners of linocut printmaking of the artists of the Die Brucke Group, the use of linoleum as a bona fide artistic medium is now quite established . Both Picasso and Henri Matisse helped to establish the use of lino among professional artists. This continued with the first large scale exhibition of colour linocuts by American artist Walter Inglis Anderson in 1943 45 in Brooklyn. More recently, artists such as Josh MacPhee and Stanley Donwood (the latter perhaps most famous for his cover artwork with British band Radiohead) have continued this tradition. The ease with which printmaking can be achieved with lino helps to ensure that the medium remains a firm favourite with artists at all levels from schoolroom potato printers to professional artists.<p style="padding: 6px; border:1px dashed #FFCC00;">

Synchromism paintings feature harmoniously balanced colors and a feeling of movement. It is believed that synchromist paintings evoke similar feelings and sensations as music. This is a basic tenet of the synchromism art movement. As such, these paintings make wonderfully pleasing additions to any modern art collection.
Founded in 1912 by Morgan Russell and Stanton MacDonald Wright, synchromism was an art movement based no the idea that sound and color are phenomena that are similar in the way that the individual experiences and perceives them. Movement as well as organization of color into color scales are the ways in which synchromism pieces correlate to musical art forms.
A basic tenet of synchromism is that color can be arranged or orchestrated in much the same way that notes of a symphony are arranged by composers. This harmonious arrangement of colors and shapes produces experiential results similar to that of listening to well balanced orchestral compositions.
Artists of the synchromism art movement believed that by painting in color scales could evoke sensations that were very musical in nature. Typically, synchromism pieces feature a strong rhythmic form or forms that then advance toward complexity in form and hue, moving in a particular direction.
In many cases, such explosion of color using color scales pours out in a radial pattern. It is most common for synchromism art works to have some sort of central vortex that bursts outward with color, into complex color harmonies.
The first painting to be dubbed a synchromism work, was Morgan Russells Synchromy in Green which was exhibited in Paris at the Paris Salon des Independants in the year 1913. That same year, the first exhibition featuring primarily synchromist works by MacDonald Wright and Russell was held in Munich, Germany. Following the synchromist exhibition in Munich, there were exhibits in both Paris and New York.
These first synchromist pieces were some of the first non objective abstract paintings found in American art. These later became better known under the label of avante garde. In this way, synchromism was the first American avant garde art movement that gained attention internationally.
Synchromism has been compared and contrasted to Orphism. Orphism refers to paintings that relate to the Greek god Orpheus, the symbol of song, the arts and the lyre. Though Orphism is rooted in cubism, this movement moved toward a lyrical abstraction that was more pure, in the sense that this form of painting was about synthesizing a sensation of bright colors.
Though there is little doubt that Orphism was an influence to later Synchromism, Synchromists would argue that it is an entirely unique art form. As Stanton MacDonald Wright said, "synchromism has nothing to do with orphism and anybody who has read the first catalogue of synchromism would realize that we poked fun at orphism."
Several other American painters have been known to experiment with synchromism. Whether synchromism was a branch of orphism or its own unique art form, there is little doubt that the harmonious use of color and movement based composition inspired many artists and art forms. Among these artists were Andrew Dasburg, Thomas Hart Benton and Patrick Henry Bruce.
Though the majority of Thomas Hart Bentons works centered on regionalism and murals, there was also a strong flair of synchromism. Bentons interest and incorporation of synchromism was due mainly from having studied with synchromism artists such as Stanton MacDonald Wright and Diego Rivera.<p style="padding: 6px; border:1px dashed #FFCC00;">
