Do you want to get married, yet you lack the financial means to throw a big party? Money shouldn’t be too big a problem if you’re clever enough to start Planning a Wedding on a Tight Budget. The importance of the event as such doesn’t reside in the amount of money you spend for it, but rather on the emotional value it has for those involved. Therefore, start looking for solutions and think of planning a wedding on a small budget. It doesn’t take that much time and it can be really fun. What you should know from the beginning is that planning a wedding on a small budget, requires having some trustworthy people around you to help.

When planning a wedding on a small budget the first on the list to cut off the costs are the flowers and transportation. Hiring a luxury lime could be almost out of question, therefore many couples prefer to have it in one venue. Then, planning a wedding on a small budget should also include the moment you organize it. The fall and winter months are less expensive and the costs also vary on whether you have it in mid-week or at the week-end. There is another solution for planning a wedding on a small budget that would drastically reduce costs. I’m talking about a joint-wedding.

The joint-wedding idea when planning a wedding on a small budget, is usually valid when you have some friends who also want to get married. Though you’ll have to make some little compromises, such as a limit to the number of invited people or the, this works great for planning a wedding on a small budget. After all, you’ll only be paying half the price for the site, music, decorations, flowers and photography, which would highly reduce the general costs. Though you may feel like losing something of the intimacy of this special day, think how original and funny planning a wedding on a small budget could become.

Last but not least, statistics show that when planning a wedding on a small budget, people are very little inclined to reduce the costs of the outfit or the music. These are considered among the most important aspects of the whole event. In the case of planning a wedding on a small budget those who suffer the most are the service suppliers that are cut off the list. Very often they come up with solutions and very valid suggestions that match well with planning a wedding on a small budget.

Wedding Planning is something that should be left to the most qualified professional who is certified and has not only credentials, but also has a personality that meshes with yours. Wedding Planning entails a seemingly endless list of TO-DOs that can over stress any bride during a time that’s supposed to be one of the happiest and most memorable times in her life. Wedding planning can be stressful enough and the last thing a couple needs is to have family members and friends telling them what to do, and what not to do. Wedding planning starts now as you shop for your diamond engagement ring.

Wedding Planners and weddings coordinators will take care of all the details, such as the wedding music, photographer/videographer, food and drinks, locations for weddings ceremonies, etc. Wedding coordinators need to be organized (it’s their job). Weddings involves many things, not least selecting the right wedding flowers. Weddings away from home can be exciting, adventurous, and complicated.

Planning your wedding should be exciting, not hectic. Planning your dream day is supposed to be a fun, exciting and stress-free experience. So know matter what you do have fun and get everything that you want for your wedding and to your liking. Just remember it is your big day and do not let anything spoil your big day.

If you are needing helpful hints to help the planning process run smoother take a look into getting a website to help everything run a little bit smoother. You can get the wedding websites fairly easily and most are free. The site will help you stay updated with your wedding party and friends.

You can also start a blog. A wedding blog is almost like a website except your readers can comment on your topic and it’s a bit more easier to communicate because of the comment features that your readers have.

Most of all just plan at least a year in advance and if you are going to hire a wedding planner then just make sure that you get along well with each other and they are a respected, reputable wedding planner that will take care of your every need and do it on time.

So just have fun its your wedding day.

Okay so you have booked the church or registry office, ...

Okay so you have booked the church or registry office, booked the venue, found the perfect wedding dress, sorted the invitations and the bridesmaids dresses so what next? What types of flowers are you going to have? What are you prepared to pay for the flowers? As we all know real flowers are very costly from a florist. First we need to consider what type of wedding it is, if it is the traditional white wedding then there are many types of flowers that you can consider.

What are you going to decorate with your flowers? The Church?, receptions?, buttonholes? Corsage? And maybe even the cake.

The time of year needs to be considered also as real flowers obviously only bloom at certain times of the year although with imports some of this can be addressed. The color also needs to be considered so that the types of flowers we choose blends with the wedding dress and bridesmaids outfits.

If it is a spring wedding there are many types of flowers that we can choose from, tulips come in many colors and form, daffodils always look so cheerful and sunny especially as table decorations. Roses are especially delightful as they come in so many colors and you have the added bonus of beautiful scent.

Another option for the types of flowers that you use could be silk flowers which are so realistic that you can not tell the difference from the real ones, these come in all sizes, shapes and colors although obviously no scent.

The cost of these is not much different to real flowers but with the vast array you see in shops you may be able to cut the cost by purchasing a few at a time in different places. The advantage for using these types of flowers is that they can be chosen and ordered in advance of the wedding with no problem of the flowers wilting.

With these types of flowers you can have whatever you want as they are not seasonal unlike real flowers. They can be used for decorating the tables and the wedding cake as they will not spoil or mark the cake, or drop pollen. The added advantage with these types of flowers is that they can be kept after the wedding to serve as a reminder of the perfect day.

You can now also but freeze dries flowers which may be an option for scattering over the tables or the cake at the reception venue. So whatever you choose there is plenty out there and a mixture of the different types is always available to you

If you’re planning a wedding one of the many things that you’re going to have put on your task list is wedding invitations. Having the right kind of wedding invitation is important to your wedding since it’s your first contact with your guests and provides them with some vital information that they need to know prior to the day of your wedding.

It doesn’t matter what type of a wedding you’re having, such as a church wedding, a garden wedding, or a second wedding, you’ll want your invitations to be as elegant and flowing as possible. There is also a certain type of etiquette that you should follow to make your invitations as professional as possible. Your wedding invitation should include the date of the wedding, the location, and the time.

You’re only going to be sending a wedding invitation to those people who are going to be guests at your wedding. This includes family and close friends, business associates, and not so close acquaintances. Before you start designing your wedding invitations make sure that you have an exact count of how many guests will be attending your wedding. Having an exact guest count will make sure that you order enough invitations, or make enough if you happen to be making them yourself.

You’ll have to make sure that you have enough room for all your guests so be sure to find out how many people will fit into the reception hall, or other area, that you’ve booked your celebration.

The wedding invitations should be mailed from the bride, including those invitations that are going to friends of the groom. You should have your invitations ready to be mailed out at least six weeks before the date of your wedding. If you are sending the invitation to guests who will be arriving from out of town you should give them at least eight to ten weeks notice so that they can make their travel arrangements.

A popular choice facing many brides is whether to purchase ...

A popular choice facing many brides is whether to purchase artificial flowers or fresh flowers. There are an endless number of articules on the internet looking at this issue. We have listed a few of these sites here so you can get a variety of opinions. One thing that does crop up is the suggestion that artificial flowers can cost as much as fresh. We thought it would be useful to look into this and see if this is the case.

Silk v Fresh.. the opinions.

Your Wedding Company have a very useful quick 10 positives points for both silk and fresh flowers. You can find this here.

A good balanced look at this issue can be found on “Artificial Flowers“. While you might expect a one sided approach from a seller of silk flowers this article sums up the options rather well.

Jen Carter of my-wedding-blog.com paints a positive view of artificial flowers.

Silk flowers may look better than fresh flowers do. If something happens to them right before the wedding, there is time for it to be fixed or replaced, whereas there may not be that extra time with fresh flowers. However, although many people think that silk flowers look great, that does not necessarily mean that they think that they look as great as fresh flowers do.

Lisa over at C&L Floral Designs offers 6 Top Reason for choosing silk wedding flowers...

1) Silk wedding flowers last a long time. Long after your big day has passed your flowers will be there to transport you back in time.

2) You get exactly what you want. You can have any combination of colour/colours and flowers. So the wedding flowers you always dreamed of will be exactly as you imagined it to be. Forget the limited pallet and seasonal range of fresh flowers. With silk wedding flowers you can have whatever your mind can design.

3) You will take delivery of your flowers well ahead of the ceremony so there will be no surprises on the day. If you have buttonholes for guests or posies for bridesmaids these can be allocated well before the wedding or used to match dresses or other items.

4) Your flowers will compliment your theme. Real flowers can radically differ in colour and are not predictable. With silk flowers you get the colour your theme demands.

5) Allergies can be a real problem for some people and nothing spoils the flower of a wedding then a sneezing attack. Silk flowers are the perfect antidote.

6) Lastly, silk flowers represent fantastic value for money. You can give a button hole to every guest, posies for the bridesmaids, wands for the younger bridesmaids, magnificent table arrangements and a stunning bouquet for the bride for less than a single fresh flower bouquet. The beauty is that no one will be able to tell.

The final reason being the potential savings. Which leads us to our next consideration..

Price

Several articles on the web state that silk wedding flowers can be more expensive than fresh. We thought it would be useful to explore this further. We contacted C&L Floral Designs (one of our site sponsors) and asked them to compare their prices against guide prices from sites offering fresh flowers. The results are quite conclusive. For example a fresh shower bouquet will cost you £50 where as a artificial bouquet will generally fall within the region of £30 – £40.

Lynda Wright (Lynda @checkmark-books.co.uk)
When I planned my own wedding, I made lots of notes and lists with tick boxes and space to write in as the plans proceeded. Over a period of time I copied the notes for friends who were getting married and one friend in particular urged me to develop them further and write a book. I wrote the information in a workbook style because it is the type of book I would like to have been able to use to plan my own wedding and I felt sure it would appeal to others. Planning a wedding can be a daunting prospect, but it has been my aim to cover all the decisions and steps that have to be taken along the way to ensure its success. I hope you find the book useful and recommend it to your friends. If you would like to e-mail me with your comments, I would be very pleased to hear from you. In the meantime, have lots of fun planning your wedding and very best wishes for your future happiness. –This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Wedding Themes – Red Riding Hood

By: Georgina Clatworthy

When you think about fairytale wedding themes it is usually Cinderella that first springs to mind. But have you considered using other famous fairy tales as a theme for your wedding?

Whilst the story of Red Riding Hood may not seem particularly romantic, it does lend itself to producing a particularly pretty and beautiful wedding theme. Consider a colors scheme of red and white, with white being the predominant color. Thin about polka dots, gingham, checks and folk style artwork. It does conjure a scheme filled with 1950’s vintage retro, an innocent scheme perfect for a spring or summer wedding.

Here are some ideas on how to apply it to various elements of your wedding:

Venues

This scheme lends itself perfectly to an outdoor wedding, perhaps in a park or woodland setting. It would work equally well for a barn wedding or farm location. Whatever your choice think rustic, rural, country.

Wedding Invitations and Stationery

Choose white as your background color, accent with polka dots, script style fonts in scarlet red and choose images with a folk art feel or 1950’s children’s story book drawings.

Rather than make all the stationery look the same, coordinate it by using different elements of the above on different pieces. For instance, use a drawing of Red Riding Hood on your wedding programs but only a single border of red and white polka dots, along one edge of your name cards.

You can use cute or whimsical, but make sure you keep with the same style of images throughout.

Flowers

Choose flowers such as red tulips and white daisies for a cute country style. White peonies would also be lovely, as would red poppies.

Keep your arrangements informal, use enamel jugs, jam jars and simple vases. You could mix the flowers but I think they would look lovely with just one type of flower to each arrangement.

Attire

Keep your wedding dress simple and white. Maybe an empire style dress with puff sleeves in a lightweight fabric. Keep details to a minimum, a small ruffle at the bottom of the skirt would be nice and maybe a sash at the waist.

Dress your bridesmaids in 50’s style prom dresses in scarlet red and add full petticoats, trimmed with broderie anglais. Dress your flower girls in Red Riding Hood outfits and equip them with picnic baskets filled with daisy heads to scatter.

Wedding Favors

Think homemade. Give out miniature picnic baskets lined with red and white checked paper and filled with homemade treats such as cookies, shortbreads, preserves and fresh strawberries.

Jars of preserves, topper with lids covered with red and white cloth are also perfect wedding favors. Or for a more whimsical idea, why not give them a copy of Grandma’s recipe book, complete with wolf soup

Wedding Cake

Now this is where you have a range of choices. If you go for a formal wedding cake try carrot cake, covered in butter cream and finished with strawberries. Or why not give your guests a choice of cakes, bake up several in different flavors and arrange them each on a vintage style cake stand. If you have a formal cake, look for someone to make you a wolf and Red Riding Hood cake topper

Cupcakes also work very well for this theme or even a gateau style cake.

Decorations and Food

Go for a buffet style and give your guests picnic baskets filled with a range of delicious treats. An outdoor setting would look wonderful with your guests all sitting around red and white checked picnic cloths feasting on the delights in their baskets

Have a summer buffet served up in a marquee tent. Cover your tables with red and white checked table cloths and finish with your flower arrangements.

Decorate the area with bunting, paper lanterns and hurricane lamps which can be lit later in the evening when the lit dims.

Make sure that your theme is not in poor taste. You most definitely do not want to insult or disgust your guests

Select Invitations for Your Themed Wedding:

Your wedding invitation should explain your wedding theme to your guests

Explain why you chose the theme to your guests

If you wish for guests to come arrive in ‘theme’ attire, this is the time to inform them

If you will be serving ‘theme foods’ inform guests in the invitation

Your wedding invitations should fit your wedding theme so there’s not any confusion

Provide contact information so you can clarify things if your guests are confused

Provide a map and written directions to the reception area so that your guests can find the location with ease.

Some Things to Consider About a Themed Wedding:

Etiquette shouldn’t be stressed, as a themed wedding is supposed to be relaxing and fun.

Many traditional rules (etiquette) that apply to traditional weddings should be disregarded as many modern themed weddings are non-traditional wedding, except in the case of the formal themed wedding.

Take the season and weather into consideration when planning your theme. It would be ridiculous to invite guests to a Beach Wedding party in January and request for them to wear bathing suit attire

Inform your vendors of your theme and any attire you may be asking guests to wear.

If you have a specific theme in mind, but you don’t know how to pull it off, hire a coordinator to handle it for you. As professionals, they know exactly how to make your themed wedding a success.

If your wedding theme is a specific ear, and you’re not sure how to decorate or dress, do some research. The internet and the public library are excellent research tools to help make your dream wedding theme become a wedding theme reality.

Obviously you’re getting married for all the right reasons. This is the right partner and the right time in your life to walk down the aisle, in fact it’s all go in the run up to your big day. You want the whole day to be a huge success and you recognise that the wedding dress is just one aspect of it.

But come on girls… if you’re anything like all the other Bride’s we’ve spoken to, the wedding dress is the single most important purchase you’ll make – are we right?

Probably.

But don’t feel guilty though. You and your partner will be the centre of attention (naturally!) so technically you are just looking your best for your gorgeous spouse-to-be! Your photo’s live on long after the day and whilst the spelling mistake on the invites, the decorations which didn’t quite match and the arguments you had with your Chief Bridesmaid or your mum will all be forgotten (or even laughed about) in years to come, your wedding photo’s will be a permanent reminder of your day and your wedding dress. Get it wrong and you are stuck with the results – and trust us, it won’t ever be funny!

You hear women jokingly say that they are getting married for the wedding dress, but surely no-one would get married just to wear a pretty frock, would they? However bizarre this may at first appear, it starts to become almost conceivable when you see the huge variety of sumptuous wedding dresses out there.

From an early age many women have an idea about what their wedding dress will look like. Whilst these views sometimes hold true throughout the numerous shop visits which occur, Brides-to-be are often surprised at the number of decisions which still need to be made. Choices of material, shade/colour and type of decoration are all issues which crop up. Where a Bride is more open or less sure of what she wants for her big day, additional decisions concerning the overall style, neckline and hemline of the wedding dress also come in to play.

Whilst many Brides believe that the only option they have when trying to find their wedding dress is to scour shops and try on hundreds of gowns (no joke!), there is another way. This section provides an insight in to the different things to think about as well as an explanation terms used in the industry which can baffle us common folk!

So from fabric to accessories, and from bodices to trains you’ll find all the information you need in this part of the site to make an informed choice. You can be sure once you’ve read all the articles that we have to offer, that you’ll be able to track down the weddung dress of your dreams far quicker than those Bride’s who are scouring shops with their fingers crossed! Check out the links in the left hand menu and begin your quest to track down the perferct wedding gown.
