Detroit red wings player, Henrik Zetterberg, and his now wife surprised their guests by making them all wear 1920’s inspired swimsuits in flattering black and white stripes for a pre-wedding celebration. It gets even better! They were then taken to the first Swedish communal bath. Haha! I don’t know what I would do if I was a guest at that wedding!

Remember that crazy snowstorm we had in May? That’s when Amanda & Foster got married. So we had to think on our feet to find some locations for their photos! Here’s the story of their wedding:

Amanda & Foster are the epitome of a calm bride and groom. Their wedding day (keep in mind this was the last weekend in MAY) had not only rain but snow that didn’t let up the entire day. What would have spelled disaster for a lot of couples didn’t matter to Amanda & Foster. All they cared about was ending up married to each other, and having a great day.

The ceremony was at Holy Family Parish in St. Albert, one of the most beautiful churches we have worked in. So, the snow made us think on our feet. Luckily we were able to find some beautiful light indoors. Amanda & Foster were so easy to work with, we had such a great time finding different spots to shoot and trying new things (the formals were done at NAIT).

The reception was very special for us – it was at the Edmonton Petroleum Club, where we were married just over 4 years ago. I have to admit I got very emotional listening to Amanda’s dad toast to his little girl. It reminded me of my dad, who is no longer with us, and the speech he gave to me at our wedding. It made me appreciate my career even more: we are invited to these incredibly intimate moments in our clients’ lives, asked to celebrate and rejoice with them, and ensure that those memories are captured and safeguarded. It’s an important responsibility, and one that we take very seriously, and enjoy tremendously.

We had the pleasure of working with Maria from Flawless Couture Event Planning for Amanda & Foster’s wedding. Look at the beautiful décor she planned for the reception!

This life-sized seating chart’s got a vintage look that’s oh-so charming. This is perfect for weddings with LONG guest lists. I love the use of four or five different fonts, which breaks up the list so it’s easier to read. How cute are the little tags stamped with a different animal for people to take to their tables? My guess is that each table was named after each animal, so guests knew exactly where to sit.

Looking for something that’s more laid-back? How about a chalkboard seating chart? You have the freedom to write the names any way that you wish, but just make sure you can read your own writing!

How unique is this? This is a digital projection of a photo negative with the names and table numbers of the guests. I’m a big fan of Jung Lee over at Fete because she always comes up with the most interesting things.

The bride and groom for this wedding loved concerts so much that they decided to make their escort cards as concert tickets. I totally jumped when I saw this one because it’s so genius!

Rather than just have the name and table number displayed on the escort card, this bride and groom decided to have a picture of themselves at the age of the table number listed. This can be easily done on your computer after you’ve scanned your old photographs.

We designed the table décor with an “Alpine Elegance” theme in mind:

* A brown lantern sat on top of a wooden slab covered in earthy elements (moss, pine cones, sticks and berries);
* Votives and candles in mason jars surrounded the lanterns to make the tables glow;
* Ivory pintuck linens, chocolate satin chair wraps and brown napkins polished off the look
