Polka Dot Bride recently lauded the idea of using an alternative to a traditional bouquet of flowers for your trip down the aisle. From beads, shells and feathers to bridal bouquets made out of paper or fabric, she gives a wealth of ideas about how to add some creative flair to your big day. I personally adore fresh flowers so much that I’m not sure I could part with the idea, but what do you think about these creative twists on the classic bouquet? Rant or rave about it!

InStyle’s Ideas for Presents and Wedding Pez

How incredibly fun are these wedding Pez dispensers covered with Swarovski crystals? InStyle Weddings has compiled an amazing slideshow of “Fabulous Favors,” including personalized gifts, donations to charity and these fantastic little bride and groom Pez dispensers from Dylan’s Candy Bar. Even if you don’t want to fork over $300 per favor, there are some other great ideas for any couple looking to add some sparkle to their ceremony.

InStyle also announced that Amy Adams, the adorable star of Enchanted and one of my favorite actresses, is engaged to actor Darren Legallo. Congrats, Amy!

Outrageous Weddings

You might think your site fees and prices for your flowers are outrageous, but check out these weddings that give the word “outrageous weddings” new meaning.

1. In Texas, one bride, Chidi Ogbuta, had her childhood dream fulfilled when Absolutely Edible Cakes baked her an amazing wedding cake. The cake was 5′4 to resemble the bride in likeness and in size. Photo and story from nbci.com.

3. This wedding story came from Bridezilla.com. Tina Boaz-Murray, the bride is captured with her little zoo friend here. The couple got married at the Houston Zoo which they thought was “romantic.” Here she is posing with one of the animals there.

Beautiful Wedding Books

Even though my wedding’s over, I still love drooling over gorgeous, glamorous wedding books. I have a few favorites.

1) Here are some stunning photos and ideas from famous wedding coordinator Jo Gartin of ‘love luck and angels.’ I adored her book “Weddings: An Inspiring Guide for the Stylish Bride” so much that I wanted to buy it as a keepsake.

2) Colin Cowie is extraordinary! And his book, “Colin Cowie’s Extraordinary Weddings: From a Glimmer of an Idea to a Legendary Event” is no exception. Here is a stunning photo from his fabulous book taken from Brides.com.

Real Weddings: Romance in the City

The following Real Wedding was submitted by photographer Critsey Rowe. As you may remember, Critsey also submitted last week’s Real Weddings post.

Today’s real wedding couple is Colleen & Tim. Colleen, a student, and Tim, a solider, were married in November of 2007. Tim is currently deployed in Iraq.

In addition to the rich tones featured in the beautiful flowers and decor, we also loved the romantic photos of the couple on the Brooklyn Bridge and in Grand Central Station.

Something borrowed, something blue…

My friend wore blue nail polish and I borrowed a diamond bracelet from my mom. So why do we do it and what does this traditional poem mean? Something old symbolizes the passing down of things from family and something new signifies a hopeful future. Something borrowed is a reminder that the bride has friends and family near her for support. And the something blue? Well it was used to symbolize fidelity in Rome and has symbolized purity in Christianity.

Wedding favor shopping has become synonymous with stress, sad little catalogs and the same old stuff you see at every wedding in town. Gorgeous Hair Accessories

I loved my rhinestone hair clip from Ficcare so much so that I insisted on using it. Regardless of my hairstyle, I knew I wanted a hairstylist that could find a creative way to use this gorgeous clip.

Though I was happy with my hair clip, it took me a long time to decide what I would use to decorate my hair. From tiaras to crystal detailed bobby pins there are so many glamorous ways to style up your do. Here’s a few I love.

HEADBANDS. This Swarovski Crystal Headband brings back sweet, childhood memories.

HAIRPINS. Delicate hairpins add pizazz to any hairdo. Check out these jewels from Lynn Litwin.

TIARA. When I tried one on for the first time, I felt like a princess. Even though you weren’t planning on getting one, I say at least try one on. You may be surprised.
