Conner? All of this exchange is so cool and help us connect to all of those that we miss so dearly. Love, Pete PS: JL is in the water....she floats, she runs, and also catches a couple of crab! Did a quick shake-down this afternoon. Be in Anch sometime tomorrow.

And of course, you have all seen the original deed to the house of Jean’s that was registered to L.A. Conner? However, the La part of La Conner is NOT French. Here's what I found:La Conner was first settled in May 1867 by Alonzo Low and known by its post office name, Swinomish. In 1869 J.S. Conner bought the settlement's trading post and in 1870 had the name changed to honor his wife, Louisa Ann Conner. The French-looking "La" represents her initials. La Conner was once the county seat of Skagit County. So there you have it, Miss Sellie-doodle.

Well, I was going to say that Sellie wasn’t far off when she calls it “the” Conner, as in French, the word “la” means “the.” However, the La part of La Conner is NOT French.
