I get sick to my stomach when wedding planners start to complain about all the stress they have to handle and that the whole world is crashing down around them.

The first finger gets pointed to the bride, the bride can’t communicate, can’t make up her mind, can’t this can’t that. Second in line is the vendors.

Sure I do understand the situation a wedding planner find herself in when the wrong flowers gets delivered on the big day, and when some service is not rendered the way it was agreed upon. I understand things get hairy and can become quickly disorganized because of the knock on effects of one little crisis.

Being calm and organized is part of your job. You can’t afford to get stress out or go into a panic state. You are the one that is steering the ship and if the captain is panicking then everyone around him is going to feed from that negative energy and the whole situation can become chaotic.

The point I’m trying to make here is that if you get stressed out, or are constantly managing chaos then you are not doing your job as a wedding planner correctly, and everyone from the bride to the vendors will know this, and you can kiss those future contracts goodbye.

A wedding planner don’t stress and don’t panic, even if there is molted lava flowing from a burst volcano 50 miles away to the wedding venue.

As a professional wedding planner, you must be capable of planning all sorts of weddings – including weddings that involve dogs. Though including a dog in a wedding may seem strange, it isn’t to its owner.

People who love their dogs want them to partake in every aspect on their lives, including their weddings. These lovable furry, four legged animals are their family, and on a day that combines two loving individuals as one, they want their dogs present.

So if your wedding planning business is asked to plan a wedding that includes a dog, consider these 4 tips for planning a wedding that even Fido can enjoy.

· Search for a location that allows pets. Some places are discriminatory to their presence. When you locate a pet friendly location, discover their pet policies and pass it on to your clients.

· Inform everyone hired to participate in the wedding and reception (caterers, musicians, etc.) that a dog will be present. There are people allergic to animals, and worse, are afraid. It would create an uncomfortable (and likely unforgettable) atmosphere if someone goes into a panic mode or starts sneezing uncontrollably because of a furry wedding party participant.

· Discuss with your clients who will watch their dog. The dog should not wonder around bothering people or taking attention away from the marrying couple. In some cases, the wondering dog could scare a small child. This is definite discussion that needs to be discussed.

· If your instincts sense that a dog seems stress during wedding rehearsals, it is strongly advised that you suggest to your clients that they omit having their beloved pooch in their wedding. Explain to them that a nervous dog could cause serious complications, such as a disgusting carpet accident.

As more interracial relationships lead to marriage, multicultural weddings are becoming increasingly desirable. As a professional wedding planner, you must be skilled enough to bring together two beautiful cultures in a unique way that unites instead of offend a couple and their cultural backgrounds.

There are a number of ways your wedding planning business can incorporate two cultures into a couple’s special day. You can suggest to your clients that one culture dominate the ceremony while the other one controls the reception. For example, an Indian bride can have a Hindu wedding ceremony while the reception is catered towards her American husband with American food, entertainment, toasts, and all the traditions that are American.

Your clients may prefer to blend their traditions at both events. If this is so, then simply mix their traditions together in every detail that deals with the wedding and reception. You can, for instance, serve a buffet style of food to represent both cultures. Entertainment can consist of ethnic music from both cultures – even if this requires two bands.

Just remember that your wedding planner business is being entrusted to coordinate a multicultural wedding that will not only reflect the union of two cultures, but also celebrate the unique love of two people. So put your wedding planning skills to work to create a beautiful day that honors not only two cultures, but two people in love as well.

Everyone’s familiar with the show “Bridezillas.” It’s funny to watch when you’re not dealing with these mean-spirited women, but it’s a living nightmare when you’re working with them as a professional wedding planner. You love your career, but dealing with these wrathful women who feel a need to act lesser than a lady because they’re getting married could make you hate it.

Don’t let this happen. Remember these tips when you’re working with a “bridezilla:”

The bride-to-be’s meanness could be a result of stress. This may be her first, second, fifth wedding. Regardless, the stress of planning a wedding could make her irritable towards others. That’s why as a professional wedding planner, you need to constantly assure her that you’re taking care of every detail that will make her wedding the most beautiful day of her life.

Offer choices in everything: wedding/reception locations; food, flowers, music . . . anything that deals with a wedding, give the difficult bride-to-be choices to choose from. She may not like most of them, but at least it proves you’re trying to please her.

Always remain calm. This doesn’t mean your wedding planner business should be disrespected by this bridezilla. It means don’t take a raging bride-to-be’s tantrums to heart. She could be a nice woman who’s desperate for a fairytale wedding. It’s up to you to speak out against her impractical demands. You can stand your ground without joining her in a shouting match that could lead to serious altercations.

Reminder: someone needs to keep a cool head, and since you’re the professional wedding planner, it should be you.

Stay focus on planning the wedding and not on her tantrums. This will definitely help you overcome the ugliness while coordinating something beautiful.

As a professional wedding planner, you need a niche. This allows you to attract the clients you want; thus, bringing you their business.

These tips will help you find the right niche for you.

Tip 1: Decide what market you want to tap into.

As a professional wedding planner, you may enjoy working with couples desiring cultural, adventurous or romantic weddings. Regardless, make it your niche and market it extensively.

Tip 2: Decide what services and products to offer.

What services is your wedding planning business going to offer your niche? This requires research. Learn what services should be offered to your target market. For example, a country western themed wedding may require different services from an Indian wedding.

Tip 3: Choose the income level you want to work with.

This choice helps you decide whether to work with middleclass or the rich. The middleclass spend lots of money on weddings; however, the rich spend more. It’s common for celebrities to pay a professional wedding planner millions to plan their weddings. As you decide on this matter, beware that the higher the income, the better the services must be.

Tip 4: Consider your location.

Is your niche profitable in your city? If not, establish yourself as an expert and market well. If it is, then work harder to stand out above the rest. Differentiate yourself from other wedding vendors.

Tip 5: Work from the heart.

Choose a niche that interests you. Being a professional wedding planner is not only about planning a wedding for the sake of money; it’s also about enjoying your creativity. Working only for money causes burnouts and disinterest. So pick a niche you love so much you’d work it for free – though you won’t.

Winter is here with a vengeance: floods, snowstorms, and freezing temperatures. Regardless where you live, chances are winter is leaving its wrathful affects on your area. Despite Mother Nature’s fury, there are couples anxious to marry. No amount of hail, rain, or snow can stop them from saying, “I do.”

For a professional wedding planner, this means some serious preparation against Mother Nature and her furious winter weather. Some wedding vendors may caution their clients against having a winter wedding due to bad weather. If clients, however, throw caution to the wind and still want to marry, then know that it’s possible to plan a winter wedding despite bad weather conditions.

For starters, as a wedding planning business, take the responsibility of safety into your hands. Do this by hiring people to shovel snow off the walkways before, during, and after the wedding. This clears pathways and prevents falls. If it’s raining, hire people to escort guests with oversized umbrellas as they arrive and leave the wedding. And place a rug at the entrance so guests can wipe their feet. Without it, there will be water puddles and worse, accidents.

Bad weather always creates the possibility of power outages. Therefore, search for a location that has a generator during power outages. It’s also a good idea to have flashlights, candles and matches on hand. If the power goes out, the couple can at least complete their vows with lighted candles – a romantic gesture.

Winter weddings can be just as beautiful as spring and summer weddings. It’s just a matter of being a good professional wedding planner with a keen sense of preparation.

Your wedding planning business just been hired to create a Christmas wedding. The excited couple wants to not only exchange gifts during the holidays, but wedding vows too. As a professional wedding planner, they expect you to be up to par for the challenge of blending a traditional wedding with a festive holiday.

Your wedding planner business can live up to their expectations by creating a Christmas wedding that’s filled with the love and spirit of the holidays as well as the romantic mood that accompanies being in love.

For starters, book the wedding at a location that’s already decorated with Christmas decorations. Since Christmas is always a season of beautiful decorations, you won’t have to add or change anything. This will save you time and your clients’ money.

Choose Christmas colors to coordinate everything involving the wedding. This includes wedding attire, flowers, and invitations.

A traditional Christmas dinner would be more befitting for Christmas themed weddings rather than an elegant one. Also consider having a wedding cake that’s uniquely designed for the festive holiday. A good idea would be a cake shaped like stacked gift boxes.

These Christmas wedding ideas are creative ways to bring together both a traditional and special day as one. Show your clients that as a professional wedding planner, you have the creative mind to give them and their wedding guests the most memorable day of their lives.
