I just wanted to drop a note in that I am taking a couple days away from here. I just have to push through a couple of assignments due this week that require much of my attention :)

Also I took in a stray cat today. I'm hoping to get her to the vet tomorrow for a check-up and see if she has a micro-chip that will indicate if she has an owner. She's marked that she has been spayed and vaccinated once before, but I don't know anything beyond that. She's extremely sweet and loves people soooo much. She's been hanging out on my street for the past couple of weeks and sneaking into people's homes because it's sooo cold out. She has especially taken a liking to me and my home. I was shocked she didn't turn violent when I gave her a bath earlier. My cat would try to kill me, she just tried to leave the room. I'm currently keeping her in a room separate from my cat, Meggie.

I'll let you know how everything goes!

T&T: Spring Coral

I love coral, it is one of my favourite colours. I prefer softer corals for spring and this MAC lipstick is just perfect. I've been wearing it constantly since getting it, so if you love coral lippy too this is a must. Even though we had some snow today, this mild winter has me thinking constantly of spring and flowers, this F21 necklace is so pretty and pretty affordable too. I think it would look perfect in a more classic Lolita look.

Her most recent MV is for the song "Ours", this one of those songs that makes me feel happy and relaxed. I've been playing it over and over for the past couple of weeks and it has easily claimed a spot in my ipod's 'favourites' playlist.

This is a more polished, Lolita take on her rather drab office look. I think this look is super wearable for everyday.

Wear a grey skirt like the Jacqueline sk from Innocent World with a chiffon blouse, a grey blazer, and multi coloured striped scarf. I paired the look with little booties because I felt they fit the look well.

What I Loved this Week

Louis Vuitton’s spring collection and ads – so pastel and
lacey and lovely. It is like looking at fashion candy. I adore these ads.

Structured bags in light colours – such a classic look, I
love fifties fashion and these bags have me daydreaming of a full skirt paired with a cardigan and blouse.

AatP’s Tricked Hat, Pricked Heart series – I adore the
victorian vibe to this print. The hats in the print are beautiful. I especially
love the corset JSK, the tassle at the bottom is so unique and charming.

Lolita Décor on Tumblr – I am finally at a point where I’m
looking at how I want to decorate my sadly sparse home. This tumblr is
providing me with plenty of eye candy and ideas for my bedroom.

Once Upon a Time – This TV show airs on ABC Sunday nights
and I am obsessed with this fairytales with a modern twist series. Definitely
consider checking it out if you are a lover of fairytales.

Taylor Swift’s Wonderstruck perfume – it smells so nice and
the bottle is beautiful!

The Help by Kathryn Stockett – I could not put this book
down and ended up finishing it in 3 days. If you have not read it, go buy or
borrow it right away. I cannot rave about this book enough.

I happen to really like Taylor Swift, a few of her songs
have ranked amongst my all-time favourites and I love her feminine style. When
I heard she was coming out with a fragrance I admit I was curious. I usually do
not pay attention to celebrity fragrances (outside of G, which I’ve been
wearing since high school). Then I saw the bottle and the ad. Before I go into
the perfume can I just say I am in love with the dress and setting of the ad (those chandeliers!),
it is so gorgeous! With that out of the way, let us move onto the actual
perfume.

The Bottle:

This bottle is absolutely stunning and definitely stands out
on my counter. It is a dark purple with sparkles that glitter in a rainbow of
colours depending on the light. Written on one side of the bottle is the name
of the perfume and Taylor’s signature. I like that her name is simple and not
the main feature. The lid is gold with an intricate design on the top and
sides. I love little details like the patterns on the lid; it just adds an
extra little finishing touch. Hanging around the neck of the bottle is a small
chain with a bird, a cage, and a star. I love the idea of a bird escaping its
cage and flying free.

Verdict: Love it!

The scent:

The notes in this perfume are Freesia, green tea, apple
blossom, raspberry, and dewberry. Sephora describes the scent as sparkling,
blushing, enchanting.

You can definitely smell the berries in this scent, so if
you dislike fruity scents I would say this is not for you. I happen to love the
scent probably because, personally, I dislike strong floral scents. It isn’t an
overpowering perfume and has a refreshing quality. It reminds me a bit of a
body spray, but slightly stronger. I hate strong scents, so if you tend to lean
in the same direction I would recommend this perfume. It is definitely a softer
daytime scent, but I suppose would be a nice date scent.

Verdict: I love it!

Price:

1.7oz - $49.50 US

3.4oz - $59.50 US

Overall:

Beautiful bottle, lovely scent perfect for daytime wear. I’m
sure when I eventually run-out it will join a couple of other perfumes in the
re-purchase list. However, I don’t see it running out anytime soon. Perfumes tend
to last me a long time.

Reminder! Always test perfume before buying, we all have different body chemistry. What suits me well might not on you.

T&T: Pink Stars

I love pink, no seriously I adore it. My binder for school, my beloved organizer, my room (and the list goes on) are all pink. Those around me joke that it's an addiction, perhaps they're right, but it's certainly a harmless one. Which is why this week's T&T is all pink. I have long dreamed of buying the Milky Way clips from 6% Doki Doki, yet have never actually purchased them. I probably will though, eventually. As for the beauty product, these blushes from Maybelline are fun to use. I apply and blend mine using a clean finger. It seems to last a long time and gives a nice flush of colour.

Wear this 6% Doki Doki Sugar Milky Way Clip in your hair with that Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Pink frosting. Pair the blue and pink clips together for a cute reference to Kiki and Lala (Little Twin Stars).

February Frilly Thoughts

Over the summer I had the opportunity to work at Woman’s Day magazine in the Style department (fashion, home, and beauty). As a treat for us interns at the end of the summer they allowed us to go through bins of beauty products they were getting rid of. We were told to take how much and whatever we wanted.

One of the products I snagged was the Mild Touch Cleansing Oil from DHC. The pretty pink, slightly sparkly, box caught my eye almost immediately. How could I not take it? It turns the product is actually from Japan, the entire box was written in Japanese apart from the name. You can purchase it at YesStyle for $17.10, if you are interested.

Package:

The packaging is really sweet; it’s a pale pink with a lace design on the front. It looks very pretty on a vanity or counter. The pump is useful and easy to use.

Usage:

I use this product as a make-up remover before I use my usual nighttime cleanser. It works really well and takes off all my foundation, concealer, etc. It can, and does, remove eye make-up, but I prefer my eye make-up to it. I use 1-2 pumps to take off all my make-up. I've been using it for a couple of months without any adverse reactions, which is rare for my skin. You apply to dry skin and rinse with water; it does not lather at all. It’s interesting because if you look at the water in your hand after rinsing, it will be a cloudy white.

The negative:

The smell is my one complaint. It smells…odd; I’m not really fond of it at all. I am not sure how to describe it. It most definitely is not a perfumed scent, but it isn’t a medical or ‘chemical’ smell either. It’s just mildly unpleasant while you use it.

Overall: 4/5 if it weren’t for the smell, I would really love this product.

Spotlight on: RRcherrypie

If there is one thing I love about sites like Tumblr and YouTube it is the completely random, useless tidbits you find. Tumblr more so than any other site has introduced me to the craziest things. Such as this YouTuber I am going to share with you today. I’m sure some of you have already been pulled in by these oddly addicting videos, but for others this could be your first time seeing one.

This person is none other than RRcherrypie. He (she? I think I read he though) is from Japan and essentially the videos are of him making little kits. Candies, Bandai Konapun, erasers, you name it. While some are edible, others are not.

I first saw one of RRcherrypie’s videos in October, since then I have somehow ended up watching all of them. I still can’t say what the appeal of these videos is. I do know that I’m not alone in that regard, the majority of the commenters seem to feel the same way. The sounds of the items being made are bizarrely relaxing. It’s a bit like the effect Baby Einstein has on a baby. Staring at the screen, amazed at something that is really not so mind blowing. Part of it, though, is how meticulous to details he is. These miniature creations all manage to come out looking perfect. I wish I could be so detail oriented and patient.

Here is one of his videos for you, a key chain making kit that any sweet Lolita would enjoy!

I just saw he now has a blog too, so here's a link: http://rrcherrypie.blog59.fc2.com/

This is kind of a funny one, but nonetheless here are ten foods I love.

Cupcakes – I am talking about that melt-in-your mouth good kind. I just recently learned that there’s a cupcake shop not far from me that was on cupcake wars. To say they are delicious would be an understatement.

Pumpkin flavoured things – baked goods, soups, etc. I love pumpkin flavoured foods, especially in the fall J

Chocolate – hot choco, choco milk, cookies, cake, chocolate on it’s own, haha I love chocolate!

Pad Thai – probably one of my favourite dishes ever.

Chicken Francais – same as above

Veggies – I tend to reach for things like carrots for snacks and almost have some sort of veggie with every meal, there are some I don’t like, but I didn’t feel like listing all my favourites.

Red Mango – er the frozen yogurt place that is. It’s conveniently located between my school and home, making it hard to resist going in.

Pasta – I like most pasta dishes and it’s easy to make at home (I usually add veggies to mine for extra yumminess.

Breakfast – I love breakfast meals and will occasionally have breakfast for lunch/dinner. My Mum and I used go once a week every week in the summers for breakfast.

Fruit – especially apples, grapes, strawberries, and melons

* Photo from Gluten-free cupcakes by Elana Amsterdam

This & That

Welcome to the new “This & That” a new Thursday feature. I had seen the concept of this & that posts on a few completely non-Lolita blogs with things such as home décor or food and loved it. For these posts I will feature one Lolita item and a beauty product I think goes well with it. It could be a dress, skirt, blouse, or accessory for the Lolita item and as for beauty, it could be a lip, eye, nail product or a look I saw and think matches well with the chosen item.

So let’s get to today’s!

I have loved the song for a long time, there is a dream-like quality to it and I find it quite relaxing

This co-ord is very winter themed (which makes sense, seeing as we will be there very soon) with its boots and fur caplet. I love this print from BtSSB in navy the gold pops nicely against it and the print is sooo sweet. This dress actually popped into my mind as soon as I decided this was the song I wanted to do next.

JSK: BtSSB Clockwork Tea Party Lumiere JSK
Blouse: IW Rose Cameo Pearskin Blouse (without cameo ribbon)
Caplet: AP Dramatic Fur Cape
Shoes: AatP Clara Short Boots
Headdress: AP Marionette Clock Canotier
Bag: AP Crown Shoulder Bag

MV for the interested, it's actually quite adorable.
