It&#8217;s going to take plenty of will power to stick with it 100% of the time, and you&#8217;re probably already mourning the loss of some of your favorite foods. So this may come as a shock to you, but cheating (on your diet) is helpful. At least, it can be when you do it right.</p>
<p>When you&#8217;re want to lose significant weight, you need to exercise hard, but you also need to control the amount of food you eat. To get into really good shape, you will have to consume fewer calories than you need to maintain your current weight. This is where things get tricky.</p>
<p>A key reason that any kind of diet doesn&#8217;t work well over the long term is because your body adapts. If you regularly consume fewer calories than you need to maintain your current weight, your body takes this as an indication that there isn&#8217;t enough food. In other words, it acts as if you are in danger of starving.</p>
<p>When your body is in starvation mode, it functions in ways that won&#8217;t help you meet your goals. It starts storing every calorie it can as fat, since it thinks there isn&#8217;t enough food to go around. Your metabolism slows, leaving you with less energy. It puts less effort into maintaining and repairing your joints and muscles, since the top priority is to survive until there&#8217;s more food. <p>Fortunately, your body doesn&#8217;t jump from its normal mode into starvation mode if you skip dinner one day. You need to be running on low calories for a number of days straight before it switches over. If you don&#8217;t experience that significant shortage of calories for that number of days, your body won&#8217;t start running in starvation mode. You&#8217;ll get the benefits of reduced calories, without the unpleasant side effects of starvation mode.</p>
<p>So, to ensure that your serious fat-loss diet remains effective, you need to go off the plan once in a while. Every so often, you need to eat significantly more than you otherwise would, to prevent your body from thinking you are starving. And there&#8217;s another benefit. If you eat your favorite foods on these cheating days, it becomes that much easier to stay on your diet the other days. There&#8217;s a big psychological difference between giving up your favorite foods altogether, and still eating them on your high-calorie days.</p>
<p>A simple way to cheat is to just pig out once a week. But this approach isn&#8217;t necessarily the most efficient way to go. If you want to get the best fat loss results possible, while still avoiding starvation mode, you should get expert advice on all aspects of your diet, including whether cheating is appropriate for your situation.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The zone diet is considered a fad diet created by a biochemist named Barry Sears. In reality it&#8217;s not a fad diet in that it is not planned to only be consumed in short periods, but rather to become the normal eating habits for a person. It is considered a low carbohydrate diet; however more is based on balancing hormones and therefore does not restrict carbohydrates as much as other low carbohydrate diets such as the Atkins diet.</p>
<p>The basis of the zone diet is a ratio of calories from carbohydrates, proteins, and fats all of 40 to 30 to 30. A few nonscientific studies prepared by various television shows have shown that the diet can indeed produce reasonable weight-loss. In fact, many of these nonscientific studies show that people gain muscle mass while losing weight on the zone diet. Many of the people in these studies also reported that of all the low carbohydrate diets, the zone diet was easiest to fit into an everyday lifestyle.</p>
<p>The zone in zone diet refers to a hormone balance in which insulin levels are perfect, glucagen levels are perfect, and thus the body releases various anti-inflammatory chemicals similar to aspirin but without side effects.  In addition, claims Sears, the natural anti-inflammatories help with heart health. An additional benefit of the zone diet is that once the human body is in this hormonal balance it becomes more efficient and stops storing excess calories as fat.  Thus, with no fat stored, and with stored fat used as energy, the body loses weight. Later on Sears added an Omega three plus Omega six fatty acids to the diet, through such supplements as pharmaceutical fish oils.</p>
<p>A typical zone diet meal was described by its creator in the following manner. In every meal eat enough protein to fit in the palm of your hand, as many non-starchy raw vegetables as you can take just enough carbohydrates to maintain mental clarity, and just enough oils to stop hunger. </p>
<p>This zone diet has a famous weight loss case in its files, that of the man who weighed over 1200 pounds. After two years on the zone diet he lost nearly 1/3 of that weight, all that after trying everything he could think of including liposuction that had nearly been fatal. The man&#8217;s modern diet consists of 2000 calories mixed up into six meals per day. It includes egg white omelets, fresh salads, chicken, fish, and other healthy foods mandated by the zone diet.</p>
