Getting to the crossroads of mid-life, Bonnie stopped for a minute to take stock of her life. And she realized that it was time to get healthy or continue down the path of self-neglect.

This is whole Bonnie’s stages of her story overcoming her mid-life crisis… weight.

Stage 1: She had babies and she fed herself. She was very good to herself, and then she went, uuumph!

She is not evevn five feet, so her normal weight should be about 100 pounds. When she had her first child she went to 130 pounds. Then with the next child she went to 150 pounds. With each pregnancy she worked her way back to 115 pounds, but it took up three years to get there.

Stage 2: When she became middle aged she thought there were two ways to go: get fat or get fit.

When you are woman mid 40s-50s, you either go this way or that way. You either address the issue that your biological body is changing and has changed forever, or you ignore it and you can be an overweight, unhappy, middle aged woman.

Stage 3: Being naturalist, she looked for a natural way to help with weight loss.

A herb called Hoodia worked for her, but she also learned that she needs to eat. You can never loose weight by not eating! You have to eat and you have to eat smart.

Stage 4: Any movement counts!

Any movement counts so the last part that she did for herself as a woman is dance. It makes her feel sensual and this is important to her.

Stage 5: She stripped down and looked herself over.

She looks what is beautiful. There are more lovely things happening in a woman’s body than there are things that are horrible.

Now, having losing 30 pounds, she feels better and more youthful than she did when she was young. And this was the marvelous time of her life! [via]

In the latest GOOP newsletter, Gwyneth Paltrow reveals how she is hoping to shed some pesky pounds she gained over the holidays.

And because of this holiday excess, she needs to lose a few pounds. She started subsisting on lemon water and she asked her doctor, a detox diet specialist, for the guidelines he uses to achieve a good detox that is not as hallucinogenic.

With this, you can detox easily and effectively while you continue to eat as long as you are cutting out the foods and other substances that interfere with the detoxification process.

Taking salads, fruit smoothies, chicken, soups and lots of water is the biggest start to lose holiday pounds. [via]

Pike 90 – Lie face up; raise legs until perpendicular to floor, feet flexed. Lower right leg so it hovers 1 or 2 inches off floor and place hands lightly behind head. In this position, do 15 crunches, lifting chest toward ceiling and lowering. Switch legs and repeat.

Crunchy Frog – Sit with knees bent, feet flat. Keeping legs together, raise feet several inches and bring knees toward chest. Wrap arms around knees without touching legs. Extend legs and stretch arms to sides, palms forward. Return to wrapped-arm position; repeat. Do 15 reps.

Tornado – Stand with feet hip-width apart, right leg in front of left, right foot turned out. Bend elbows and raise arms out to sides at shoulder level (like goalposts). In one motion, raise right knee to lowered right elbow. Return to start; switch sides and repeat to complete one rep. Do 15 reps.

Corkscrew – lie face up. Press legs together and raise them toward ceiling until they’re at 90- degree angle, with knees slightly bent and toes pointed. Raise butt and legs off floor using abs muscles; twist legs slightly to left. Repeat, twisting to right, for one rep. do 15 reps.

Side Arm Balance – Start on floor on knees. Lean to left and place left hand on floor under shoulder; extend right arm up and to left, palm down. Straighten right legs out to right with foot on floor, resting on left knee. Hold for 5 breaths. Return to start; switch sides. Repeat twice per side.

This month, celebrity magazines and blogs said that David Duchovny has been checked into rehab for sex addiction.

Rumors said that David was struggling with an addiction to Internet pornography and cyber sex. Cyber sex addiction can be just as devastating and hurtful as an actual affair and it is becoming a growing concern in our teen-savvy society.

Study shows that 25-M Americans visit cybersex sites 1-10 hours a week while 4-M Americans visit cybersex sites more than 11 hours a week. So, what does growing presence of available Internet pornography and cybersex mean for modern relationship?

Communication is required. Is it okay with your partner to look at on line pornography? Whatever you and your partner decide, agree to keep the honesty intact when accessing the web.

Consider the amount of time the cyber world takes away from your relationship. Be aware of how much time you are spending on the Internet.

Secrets are a warning sign. Whenever you are hiding from your partner about the time you spend in the Internet, the sites you visit or the people you talk, you are creating an environment for infidelity and relationship breakdown.

Cybersex addiction can really affect your life but don’t be despair. This can be treated and your partner can help you through this difficult time. [via]

Working long hours, forgetting to eat lunch or even going to the gym several times a week may not be enough to lose weight.

The problem may be part of the person’s metabolism. Metabolism is the rate at which the body burn calories to sustain life. The body needs energy all day whether we are sleeping, sitting or exercising. By skipping meals, metabolic thermostat shuts down to conserve energy while waiting for appropriate fuel. This is why skipping meals can actually hurt your weight loss efforts rather than help.

Following these 2 simple steps may lessen your sufferings in losing weight.

Having the idea of mini-meals. – bring healthy snacks to work. This can also help reduce cravings or poor food choices out of sheer hunger.

Do any strength training. – muscles eat more calories at a resting heart rate than body fat so the more muscle on your body, the more calories you burn daily whether you workout or not.

I’ve considered myself lucky when it comes to being in shape. I had the mindset that if you work out, you’ll never get fat and never have a hard time staying in shape. When I got pregnant at the age of 30, I didn’t have the glow everyone talks about my glow came from constantly sweating.

My heart was in the right place in the beginning of my pregnancy. I worked out every day and ate healthy during the first two trimesters. However, during the third trimester, when I realized my son was healthy and fully developed, I let myself enjoy every pregnant moment.

I was already a member of my local gym prior to getting pregnant, which was why I thought it would be easy to stay fit, but I took that for granted. Before I got pregnant I weighed 113 pounds; after my pregnancy I weighed 160 pounds. I was so obsessed and anxious to get back into shape and I was looking forward to hitting the gym, which I never did.

My light bulb moment was when I was unable to put my own shoes. It got to the point where I needed my husband’s help and that scared me. And even though I’d heard about this thing happening, I truly thought women were over-exaggerating. I would laugh and think they needed to try harder. But then I remember thinking, Why should I want to go through with this for the rest of my life if I could do something about it? I’ve always lived by the motto: Do not complain about anything, just do what you can do to better the situation. That seemed to work for me.

After a year, I weigh 106 pounds. My husband is my number one supporter. We’re very lucky to have the life we have. Sometimes my husband and I tag team. I’ll workout during the day when my husband can watch the baby and after work I’ll watch the baby so mu husband can work out. So, in a sense we work together.

When it comes to our meals everything is measured to our body weight in order to maintain portion control. We try to balance our meals with the right amount of carbs, protein and fats.

Getting in shape has taught me that I’m a stronger person, both physically and mentally, than I used to give myself credit for. It has taught me that if you put your mind to it, you can truly accomplish anything!

A new study confirms that doing something as natural as rapid walking can boost up weight loss while trimming hazardous belly fat and overall body fat.

Scientist at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle followed 102 men and 100 women for a year. At the beginning, the participants, ages 40-75, were sedentary and unfit. They were divided into two groups. One was encouraged to do 60 minutes of physical activity a day, 6 days a week; the other was given no specific exercise advice. There was no diet plan.

After the research, the following findings were found:

Women who increased their activity level by an additional 3, 500 steps a day lost 5 pounds during the year.

Men who added that any steps lost 8 ½ pounds a year.

The exercisers who did the most-60 minutes, 6 days a week-decreases their belly fat by 10%-20%.

Those same exercisers trimmed 10%-15% of their overall body fat without losing muscle mass.

Additionally, in lowering the risk of many serious medical conditions, regular physical activity also improves quality of life by reducing stress, depression and anxiety, and by improving bone and joint health, sex drive, sleep and memory.
