Italy Montage

This is a montage of the little video clips I collected on my two-week trip through Italy. While reviewing the footage, I found a recording of an electric guitar rendition of Time to Say Goodbye at Piazzale Michelangelo in Florence. It’s a perfect score for this montage, being the very last entry of 19 continuous entries about the trip I have created on this website. I don’t know what the technique is called – which is played like a Chinese guzheng – nor able to find anything about it online. But here’s the performer:

The Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast traces along the southern side of the Sorrento Peninsula. Here we find many historic communi, the most important of which is Amalfi, a maritime republic during the Middle Ages and a contemporary of Venice. Owing to the narrow roads precariously straddling rocky cliffs, our regular tour bus route ended in the town of Sorrento. We bid our fond farewells to our bus driver, Claudia, and took on the local tour vans.

Capri

When I saw tens of multimillion dollar yachts anchor off the coast, cruise ships sending off tightly packed lifeboats to and from the coast and designer sandals selling for hundreds of euros considered a bargain, I knew I’ve arrived in a quintessential Mediterranean resort town. The island of Capri is a rocky outcrop in the Tyrrhenian Sea with unmatched natural beauty; it is no wonder it has attracted many famous guests in the past.

Sorrento

The Sorrento Peninsula juts into Tyrrhenian Sea and wraps the Bay of Naples. Its rocky outcrops, vertical cliffs and aquamarine clear blue waters provide much of the scenic respite for many Italians since the ancient times – that is if you are able to navigate its winding, narrow coastal road and arrive at the city of Sorrento in one piece.
