Been busy...

I haven't been updating regularly for awhile. Just been very busy. Real estate sales are down, but our rental business is booming. I am making some updates to our web site, putting up a mobile site, and will be active on the blog again very soon.

If I were moving to a new town or area of the country I would want to see what the place looked like. That is the purpose of this blog. If you scroll through posts, you will get a pretty good feel for what Payson is like.

Snow by the lake

This is the start of a snow storm by Green Valley Lake (on Main St.) This was the week before Christmas, about 4pm in the afternoon. We got several inches of snow, but it melted quickly once the storm passed.

Gardens are thriving in Payson

This is part of my tomato "jungle" in a raised bed in my backyard. They are loving the heat (as long as I give them enough water). Payson weather is a little unpredictable for gardening, but most years one can get a good harvest.

These are a hybrid tomato called 'First Light'.

I've harvested a few dozen Early Girls, starting in mid July, and now, in mid August, the other varieties are ripening.

I was able to set out tomatoes in early May this year. It isn't always warm enough until June.

Payson's Farmer's Market

Payson now has a Farmer's Market

Produce, flowers, herbs, jams and jellies, goat cheese, baked goods, rubs and marinades, free range beef, candy apples, ice cream and other foods, and get a massage! What more could you want!

At the Presyterian Church parking lot on Main St. 8am to 12 noon every Saturday through October.

A Snowy evening in Payson, AZ

I took this pic overlooking part of Payson one evening, on my way home along Airport Road. Several times in December we had rain all day, turning to snow in the evening, rain again in the night. This snow was gone the next morning.

It's not unusual for us to get a few inches of snow, but this year we have been unusually warm.

It's January, and we are 60 degrees, today. The low will be high 20s tonight.

No, the Grand Canyon hasn't moved to Payson. But we took a vacation there last week (the North Rim) and I couldn't resist posting such a pretty picture. We left Payson about 7am, had breakfast in Flagstaff, and got to the Rim about 1pm.

This is called Angel's Window. We could see the Colorado river through the "window".

To give you some scale- the little things on top of the window rock, on the left end- those are people. The fatter blobs are small trees.

These are the Highline Apts., right on the main highway through town, but set back from the road enough that the traffic noise isn't bad. There are both single-level one bedrooms, and two-level two bedroom units.

The two bedroom units have the bedrooms upstairs, and share decks and a fenced backyard.

The Mazatzal Mountains are South of Payson. I see this view everyday as I drive home (2 1/2 miles off the main highway) and it is always different depending on time of day and weather.
