Ned Wright just relaunched a new site filled with a thoughtful and charismatic selection of projects. His well worded and thorough presentation match his ability to take his work one step further than imagined. It’s his attention to detail and extremely sharp use of typography and grids that keep me all tingly on the inside.

If you’re ever in Minneapolis, make sure to look him up — one of the most chill, humble guys I’ve ever met. If you’re afraid of MPLS, you can follow him on Twitter or soak up some of his choice inspiration on his blog.

I’m excited to announce that part of our crew will be participating in Bordo Bello again this year! The dates have yet to be set for the event itself, but they’ve opened artist registration until the 4th of August and are actively seeking additional participants. They’ve got a ton of event related and sponsorhip information on their site as well as pics from the last few years events on their Facebook page. Flipboard is great. They’ve basically done what I think someone should have done a long time ago with the classic version of the aggregator that we’re all used to dealing with. Although, I haven’t played with it yet, the app seems to do a great job enhancing some strengths in the collection of services I engage with day to day, like Facebook, Twitter and of course my Google Reader. Collecting information and organizing content and sharing information will only become more and more important over time, it’s great to see someone address this missed opportunities in a sensible and attractive way.

Chinza Dopeness

I just discovered this artist, Chinza Dopeness, after revisiting the Wieden + Kennedy Tokyo Lab site. He’s got a pretty interesting style to say the least and the fact that he’s got the likes of the W+K crew backing him up I look forward to seeing more things from this guy in the future. Look Alive @ Double Punch

August 7th, Look Alive opening reception at Double Punch Gallery in San Francisco. With new work from Michael Sieben, Deth P. Sun, Jon Vermilyea and PARSKID. The show starts 7PM and is rumored to go “till late.” Sounds like a great combination to me! See you there, right?!

Faile Temple in Lisbon

Faile has always done a great job creating head-turning, provocative installations and murals… Although, I think it’s safe to say, that they may have just raised the bar.

The Faile Temple was created for Protugal Arte 10 — a month long exhibition in, Lisbon, Grândola, Portimao and Vila Real de Santo António, showcasing contemporary artists from around the globe — and will unfortunately be disassembled after the event is done.

Apparently, the reactions from the community and tourists have been pretty good and everyone seems to appreciate it outright — regardless of the intricate sociopolitical undertone and small bits of nudity (only in America would such issues arise). Make sure to go to Sick2Target post for a huge batch of photos and in depth descriptions of the installation and finished piece.

Fifth Element Remodel Officially Complete

After more than a year after the remodel hiatus and hours and hours of hard work from the FE team, the Fifth Element store in Minneapolis is finally complete! I worked on this project from late 2008 into the mid 2009, drafting concepts for the store interior redesign, creating fixtures, racks, shelves, choosing materials & finishes and designing the sign for the facade… I must admit, it’s pretty exciting to see it all get wrapped up and finish so well.

Note: The FE site — I designed while at Sevnthsin — just went live a week or so ago as well. Full package complete.
