Greg Simkins’ collection of paintings, drawings and murals encompass a combination of Disney references, insect parts, animals, nature and weird carnival esque bits. It’s rare to find an artist daring enough to tie this sort of subject matter together, let alone pull it off with such charismatic style. Greg has been commissioned to do work for a long list of impressive brands and companies including, Vans, Upper Playground, Juxtapoz, Converse, STRANGEco, Kid Robot, Ningyoushi, Dark Horse, Epitaph, Disney, Mattel and more.

The recently accelerated trend of mobile goods is really starting to take shape in a variety of super interesting ways. Of those, one of the more polished I’ve come across is the Cookies N Cream truck. Cookies N Cream is a NYC based venture that seeds the streets with a collection of apparel and designer toys under the ideology that keeping things fun is the best way to “stay true” to themselves.
I’m still a little oblivious to how this mobile merch concept really works out, but after seeing so many interesting varieties pop up, it’s apparent that this is from from the end of its potential.

Our good friend and colleague, Anthony Hull has been hard at work getting his new project, Ant’s World ready for the September 6th unveiling. I’ve had a great time working in collaboration Ant on his website — official launch for the full site on the 6th — and the branding for his project as well as his personal identity. I look forward to seeing all of his influences, experiences and inspiration flow out in the form of this new online series.

The new Los Logos – Compass is the latest in the series of publications by Gestalten showcasing a gigantic selection of logos and identity systems from a collection of designers around the world — some of which include, our very own Celeste Prevost, Cypher13 and yours truly. Compass is a tiny bit different from the previous four Los Logos books, in that it’s taken on a more editorial direction; as opposed to page after page of logo on top of logo, you’ll get a little more information on process and so on.
Compass is set to hit the shelves early September for EU, mid September for UK, Asia, Australia, late September for US and Latin America.
]]>In short, Ze Frog & Toad is a traveling exhibition showcasing the new work of Nicholas Chalmers. Where the concept strays from regularity, is how the work is being shown and the manner of cataloging the adventure itself. By prioritizing his interests and taking things into his own hands, Nicholas has managed to craft a multifaceted creative venture, that even if it makes no money, is going to be a whimsical journey up the coast of Australia.
]]>Lazer Sword has released some pretty hot mixtapes and a few equally electrifying remixes. This self titled release is the first full length to drop and will feature some extremely talented contributors, including M.Sayyid, Myka Nyne, Turf Talk & Zackey Force Funk. The artwork for the video and presumably the album itself, was done by Killian Eng aka DW.
Unfortunately the album is still a few months out — drops November 2nd of this year — but there is no doubt in my mind that the collection of smarts presented so far, is a combination certain to produce a bangin’ full length.

South African diabolical duo, Sibot & Spoek are Playdoe — big ass basslines and electro cuts smashed together in an fiery array that get you up and make you shake it. I came across Playdoe via the most recent video release from Spoek Mathambo‘s forthcoming album, Mshini Wam, which, although it has a bit of a different feel, is equally as action packed and worth a listen.
