New 2012 Welsh courses started last week at the Welsh for Adults Centre and in various other locations across Cardiff and the Vale. High numbers of learners have enrolled on courses and are still enrolling – it’s not too late to join a course and learn a new skill!

Reading with children from a young age has a long-term positive impact on the child’s development, says the research study by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (2011).
Discounting social differences, the study found children with early support remained ahead in reading.
The Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan Welsh for Adult Centre plan to run Welsh for the Family reading classes to support adults who wish to read in Welsh with children. This project will help improve parents Welsh reading skills so that they can support their children by reading in Welsh.
Rachel Heath-Davies, Director of the Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan Welsh for Adults Centre said: ‘’The OECD study shows the importance of reading with children to improve their development. Our new Welsh for the Family reading clubs will provide support for parents who wish to learn to read in Welsh with their children.’’
The Centre based in Cardiff University also runs Welsh for the Family courses for parents, guardians, grandparents or anyone working with children to learn some of the language to use with children.

New classes on all levels will be starting this month but also in January 2012 - with endless opportunities to learn what's stopping you?..
In the week beginning the 14th of November we will be running our ever popular £20 tasters. These courses are an ideal way to get a taste for learning the language. The courses will run over 5 weeks (2 hour per week) at various locations in Cardiff and the Vale.
As well as our tasters there are also some 30 weeks beginners courses starting very soon - it’s not too late to enrol.
We have a great special offer on the beginners (Entry) 120 hour course - instead of £295 you can join for £199! You will complete the whole Entry level in less than a year.
Classes on our other levels also start this month - Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced.
New 2 week block courses will be trialled again at the end of November. These courses have gone down a storm with people attending the classroom for 2 weeks 9.30am-16.30pm to complete half a national level. Foundation and Advanced 1A classes will run from the 21st of November.

Why not join our Siawns am Sgwrs Uwch classes starting after half term (end of October/November). These courses are great for gaining confidence and improving vocabulary and are suitable for learners attending Uwch 1 or Uwch 2 classes.
