U.S. TV bosses have confirmed reports Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green will be returning to their spinning chairs for the fifth season of hit talent show The Voice.
Green announced he’d be juggling an ongoing residency in Las Vegas with his return last month, while sidekick Aguilera, who joined the Forget You singer in sitting out of the current fourth season of the show, has been rumored to be coming back for weeks.
And now Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night programming at NBC, has confirmed the news, stating, “We locked in a plan several months ago to have the outstanding Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green rejoin Blake (Shelton) and Adam (Levine)… and we’re pleased to announce that the original four coaches are going to be back together in the fall.
“They’re the reason this show was launched so strong for the first three cycles and we owe them a debt of gratitude.”
Telegdy has also confirmed that Shakira and Usher, who replaced Aguilera and Green this season, will be back next year.
He adds, “After careful consideration of everyone’s schedules for next spring, we are excited to be returning the current cycle of judges – Shakira and Usher along with Blake and Adam – for cycle 6, which will premiere after the Winter Olympics.”
Shakira announced she’d be stepping down from the show earlier this week to spend more time with her family and record a new solo album.

A man has been arrested at the Cannes Film Festival in France after allegedly firing a gun and brandishing a fake grenade near a waterfront TV studio on Friday.
The suspect’s weapon was filled with blanks, but the incident was enough to cause a big scare on the Croisette seafront, where crowds had gathered to watch hosts from French channel Canal + present special festival coverage.
No one was injured in the sick stunt and police were quick to tackle the man to the ground before arresting the assailant, who has so far only been identified as a 42-year-old male, reports AFP.
Broadcasts resumed after a short break and presenter Michel Denisot detailed the safety threat to viewers, saying, “He said to a woman next to him, ‘If I were you, I wouldn’t stick around here…’ The police intervened. He had a hand grenade. There were no bullets in the gun and the grenade was a fake.”
The news comes just hours after it was revealed that a Chopard jewelry collection worth $1 million had been stolen from an employee’s hotel room in Cannes. The Swiss gems were intended to be worn by stars attending the prestigious film festival.

Rihanna Reportedly Suing Topshop Bosses Over T-shirts

Pop star Rihanna is reportedly suing bosses at British retailer Topshop for allegedly selling T-shirts bearing her image without her consent.
The Umbrella hitmaker claims fashion chiefs never received the rights to print her face on their clothing and now she is taking legal action in London against the company after failing to reach an agreement out of court. She is seeking $5 million in damages.
A source tells the New York Post, “(Topshop’s owners) buy the pictures from a photographer, but they do not pay the artist licensing fees. Unfortunately, U.K. law does not protect the artist… (Rihanna) has spent almost $1 million in litigation at this point. She says it’s the principle, and wants to make a statement about it.”
Meanwhile, a Topshop insider has confirmed the company is caught up in a legal wrangle with the singer: “This issue is related to a T-shirt provided to Topshop by a third-party supplier. We are aware it is the subject of litigation. (There are) public documents (but) the amount of damages sought has not been articulated anywhere in the claimant’s document.”
