Hello Peeps I have been sanctioned by the government yet again for having Anxiety Disorder so I thought I would start up a blog about anxiety and business networking - as if you suffer from a stress disorder that can be one of the biggest blocks to success - the other being sanctioned by the ignorant.

The only reason I am not writing this from a gutter out side the town hall covered in my own poo as a protest, is because I got some cash to tide me over the sanction period - ironically I will have to give most of the money owed from government to me - back to them via council tax - which I couldn't pay due to being taxed wrong in the first place.

The Weston Mercury and an evil witch that has it in for me at the job centre ( the boney one, that smiles when she refers you for INSPECTION like its wentworth prison) are also not on my friendly bunny list.

Anyway mustn't grumble must we...

I usually focus on nice things like the flowers, but what with all this austerity and cutting, things are going back to the 1980s / 1990s in the brain of the nation - homelessness is up 14% already for example - faces are strained, clothes all look tattier, people all seem to swear and spit in the street more often...

At least we have 'big society' and civic pride etc...

1. We start are tour at the once lovely donated wishing well which is in need of some TLC - been like this months already...

2. We then find the remains of yet another person whom has decided to use the park as a toilet (despite public loos actually in the park) these pooy pants have been here several weeks...

3. The Victorian Waterfall is looking a bit unloved...

4. The kiddies (when not lobbing rocks and mud in Jill's garden) are very arty - this bottom has a sanitary towel placed between bum cheeks, nice old structure, but at least they haven't knocked it down, like the little shelter that was also used as a toilet...

5. Arse on a tree, I'm sure this tree is very impressed.

A couple of new businesses I saw in mercury this week

These are both ideas I've thought would be good additions to the town at various times.

First one is Weston Walks - Essentially a guided tour with tales of the towns history, including ghosts and various events that have effected the town over the years - the tsunami of 1607 sounds interesting as I read somewhere that a family from uphill survived to tell the tale. FACEBOOK PAGE

Hope They've looked into the Charles Forte connection, no doubt Hans Price buildings will be mentioned, I'd be interested in the war / post war years when Birnbeck was a 'ship' and the American's had influence here.

Also like to know more about the Fort, and the early Iberian settlers. I know nothing about the ghosts of the town or hauntings either.

Penguin Prints, 12 Baker Street

This shop essential sound like a local version of a zazzle or cafepress store - so I will be checking it out, I've got photos I'd like personalized and put on stickers/mugs etc - cafepress is good/cheap but it would be nice to have a local store outputing prints / my artwork on canvases for people to buy.

I can't find the facebook page or website of this shop (it wasn't in the article) but I'll add it here when I find that info - link above goes to the article on the mercury.

Long time no speak!, I have been busy scurrying about the web, discovering new things.

Politics, shmolotics
The change in government has quite disturbed me over this last year, incase ya didn't notice :P I am still 100% pro small business and localization, the tools I recommend do their job, regardless of who is goofing up the running of the country - I might turn into a liberal actually as they are YELLOW and my current web project is yellow and lemons.

Lemons.ws
There is an 'all pink' store in Worle that might understand my decision to pick a colour and find products around that colour - I have twinned it with a flavour/fruit the LEMON and I'm targeting it for USA mainly as I can find a wider range of products that can be easily added via Amazon. There is a UK store called Red Candy that focuses on red products, so the idea isn't so strange if others are doing it! - I used to separated my skittle sweets into colour groups... same kinda thing 0_x

Bubble Burst of Social media
The rush and push of social media has died down (until the next time), the initial novelty worn off for some business minded, but i think most will agree that facebook has changed the landscape and effected us all in different ways over the last 5 years - in that it hit mainstream.

I hear lots of calls that the hype hasn't translated into sales, from my understanding hype attracts attention of eyeballs only, social media hype is the "sticky content" that web masters pre social networks used - the sales pitch and conversion from a visitor to a customer still stands.

Another thing i am becoming aware of is people become disillusioned when they set up their own forums and social networking hubs then wonder why people don't drop everything they are doing and do the big society thing, The way I see it for now is that the best chance to engage still comes from email marketing and getting people to communicate with you via your fan page - or gather on other popular fan pages, fan pages need an optin to e-mail box, as anyone can click a like on a page, but to get them in your "sales funnel" subscription to the humble newsletter/updates is still making the sales for sellers.
