They were turned in to the shelter together because their human mom was moving to another city and couldn’t take them with her. Tabitha is very bonded with Sabrina, so they must be adopted together. Often you’ll find them cuddled together. Both cats like people but are a bit on a quiet side. They are both black cats, and when they are balled up together, you can’t tell where one begins and the other one ends. They are a bit shy at the shelter, as there are so many noises and unfamiliar things. But if you get to know Tabitha and Sabrina, they’ll gladly say “hello” and want to get to know you. Both cats are are spayed, micro-chipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. Meet them at the Kentucky Humane Society’s Main Campus, 241 Steedly Drive, or call 366-3355 for more information.

He is also blind. Nick compensates for his blindness by having a very fine sense of smell and hearing. He listens for new people approaching him and loves to be petted. He also loves finding treats that are hidden for him!

Nick is a bit on the shy side, and it’s no wonder: in addition to being blind, Nick came to the Kentucky Humane Society as part of a hoarding case in a neighboring county. He was one of 14 dogs who came to KHS from the same home. Unfortunately, Nick and the other dogs did not get proper medical care from his former owner: eight of the 14 dogs, including Nick, were heartworm positive. Nick’s brother, Jamenson, is also blind. Nick has received heartworm treatment, and he is ready for a “foster to adopt” home. With heartworm positive dogs, potential adopters foster the dog until he or she tests negative for heartworms (usually about three months). KHS continues to pay for heartworm prevention treatment while the dog is in foster care.

Nick will need a loving, stable home and an understanding owner who can help build his confidence. Please come meet this special young man and see if he is right for you. Although he is blind, once Nick knows you and is comfortable, he will seek out attention. Nick has the same capacity to love unconditionally as every other dog.
